One Step Forward, Two Steps Backward: Kerry Thompson gets $30+/hour!

24 Jul

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog NOW!

Complaints, Lawsuits, Fear of the Coeymanazi Coeymans Police Department…Overspending, Wild Spending Habits, A Major Chunk of the Town Budget–Now the Coeymans Police Department “Promotes” Albany CountySheriff’s Department Employee and Part-Time Coeymans Cop Kerry Thompson to Lieutenant and the Coeymans Town Board Approves Thompson’s Hourly Rate at More Than $30/Hour!

Grab the Money and Run!
More Spending for Less Service

According to our recent poll 64% of persons responded would like to see the Coeymans police department eliminated; 59% of persons responding said they would support a referendum to eliminate the Coeymans police department. 46% said that they were concerned by the coziness between the Albany County and the Coeymans police department. 38% of responders reported that their rights were violated by either the Coeymans police department or a Coeymans police officer, and were unsatisfied with the reponse of the Coeymans police department.

These are pretty damning figures from a fairly well-educated, intelligent group of people who read this blog, and take the time to participate in our polls. Such a large percentage wo want to see the Coeymans police department eliminated and who would support a referendum to eliminate it is a good reason to continue reviewing the department and whether it is justified. A very concerning rate of persons responding to the poll report that they feel their rights were violated by the Coeymans police department or by a Coeymans police officer.

So, this raises a very appropriate question after the July 23, 2012, Coeymans town board meeting at which Flach, Dolan, Boehme, and Masti unanimously approved Albany County Sheriff department employee and part-time Coeymans police officer Kerry Thompson to be a less-than-full-time lieutenant in the Coeymans police department at an hourly rate of more than $30.00/hour! More than $30.00 an hour for what the Coeymans town board described as largely “administrative.”

Is this town absolutely nutz?

Has the town board completely lost it’s mind or are they 100% owned by the Coeymanazis, Dolan, and Albany County! Are you, dear readers, citizens, and residents going to believe that Gregory Darlington, with his more than $91,000 annual salary and the some 18 other full- and part-time employees, including one Coeymans police officer, Contento (“contento” is Italian for “happy”, “pleased with yourself” Wouldn’t you be?), who pulled more than $84,000 in salary in 2011, are so overworked that they need to put a lieutenant on the staff (he’s already there but they’re pulling a fast one to “promote” him) for more than $30/hour. How many Coeymans residents are making that kind of money on one or two jobs?

And an administrative position, to add salt to our wounds?!?! What kind of favor, reward is this, now? A very special Thank You! to Kerr Thompson for his fine service to this community as a part-timer? Or is it because he’s married to chief Gregory Darlingtons’s sister? Did you miss that little tidbit when we published it some time ago?

When is this insane spending and rewarding, this favoritism at taxpayer expense going to finally stop???

This is an absolute disgrace considering the general attitude of the community regarding the Coeymans police, their antics, and their spending habits! And Cathy Deluca, wife of Coeymans police department employee, Gerald “Dirty Hands Jerry” Deluca is sending residents out collecting empty cans and bottles to send school children on field trips because, ‘There’s no money in the school budget for that.”  Does anyone smell something funny going on around here?

Go on! Give them some more!
And Keep Collecting Those Bottles…It’s for the kids!

Was the recent award of more than $18,000 from Albany County DA David Soares a prelude to this ridiculous action taken by the Coeymans town board? Are any of you aware that Thompson works full-time for the Albany County Sheriff’s Department; How does he expect to do two jobs at the same time?  (This multiple job syndrome appears to be a unique situation in the RCS community: Matt Miller had three jobs at the same time: teacher, teachers union president/union rep, and energy manager, until his little criminal career was ended by the RCS board of education. Look at Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca’s multiple jobs! Deluca claims to have at least 5 jobs, and still manages to collect a salary from the Coeymans police department as a police investigator with no qualifications! And now we have Kerry Thompson who is going to come on to do “administrative work” (Wait a minute! Isn’t that Darlington’s job? He’s getting $91,000 to do it!) and Coeymans is going to be paying him $30/hour (between $30-45,000 a year, part-time! That’s more than most RCS residents take home, my friends!)) This town is apparently  rolling is spare change and nobody knows it! Keep collecting those bottles and cans!

We can see Thomas E. Dolan screwing the community like that–he’s in it with Darlington and his gang of Coeymanazis— but it’s beyond us that Peter Masti went along with the gift-giving frenzy, even that Stephen Flach went along with it. Scandalous! Disgraceful!

Our Advice: The Coeymans Police Department Needs a State Audit VERY VERY Badly!

The Comptroller or the NYS Office of the Attorney General Needs to Take a Good Long Look at the Town of Coeymans Finances and especially the Financial (Mis)Management and Accounting Abuses/Practices of the Coeymans Police Department, Including its Staffing Practices!

Will someone please WAKE UP!!! That’s YOUR $$$ They’re Burning!!!

It’s Time to Hit the Button!

I know they are trying…..but sometimes exasperation sets in, you get tired of fighting the system. I wish them all the luck in the world for they have many obstacles. But again, I’m not a very trusting person when it comes to government, including and especially small time government as in our fair Ravena and Coeymans. I can see what is favored and what is not…..I just look around…I listen. The time has come to stop being patsies….stop taking their word for gospel. Challenge them….ask, ask and ask!! When are we gonna smarten up and vote for the town board on merit and not on family legacy??? You’re right they all are intertwined….we need new people….unrelated would be nice…..fresh thoughts, fresh ideas, different perspectives. It’s about time we change our town government.

Absolutely! That’s why we have this blog. It’s here to be a prophet of sorts: to remind and to awaken, possibly to motivate.

Pass the word along and keep questioning!

      Enjoy a lovely weekend!

      Peace!

I hope the people in this town wake up and realize that most of the officials on the town board and the BOE are out for themselves, not the town. Just like any other puppet in our government. They all talk shit. None of them should be in office. I do know we have BOE members that are trying to do what is right, but how long will it take for them to cross over?? You know the old saying, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. I wasn’t in favor of this school budget….I thought raising taxes 6.8% was a little much. And I am still amazed that it went through. With a 6.8% tax increase, I think the school should supply ALL school supplies. How many aids do we need??? Teachers should be supervising students…not aids. All of a sudden they need help?? I don’t get it. And as for the CPD?? Try getting hold of the so called chief to ask him about something….good luck….he never takes a call from citizens obviously. That tells me that he thinks he is above us. I would call a state boy before I call any of them. Keep up the good work…love your blog!

Thank you very much for your fine comment, “Wake Up Sheepie.” You’re absolutely right on all counts.

I would like to point out that the newly installed BoE is making some headway on the very things you mention in your comment. The majority on the board of education are the very people who voted as boardmembers NOT to accept the outrageous 6.8% increase, and I hope everyone is aware of that fact. Please don’t forget that it was the new majority (Vadney, Robbins, Krzykowski, and Sylvester) who, as one of their first official actions, did not renew the “energy manager” position in the district, a “thank-you” position that was given to teacher, activist, teachers association president Matt Miller, and paid him an additional $10 grand on top of his more than $80 grand teacher’s salary. And Miller was and still is on a reduced teaching load so that he can do his special interest union work on taxpayer time! In addition, Miller was the cause of some bullying in the HS when he made improper remarks about a student, publicly in class. Word is that he was disciplined, but who knows. I realize that $10K is just a drop in the bucket but it’s a good start. The “old” majority, as you know, wanted to nominate and did nominate James Latter for both president and vice-president of the BoE. Latter has a sordid record, as you probably know, for various scandalous misconducts such as violating student confidentiality, endangering students, some really shady financial stuff with the “old” RCS Sports Association, and several parents and residents demanded his resignation as a result.

As for the Coeymans P.D., it’s a gang of goons and is home to some of the biggest crooks and sneaks in the district. Darlington is a dunce, Deluca is a freak, Ryan is a psycho, Thompson is a corrupt pig. The rest are ball-less cowards who let the lead goons pull their chains because as one of the cops-in-the-background puts it, “I need this job so I keep my mouth shut.” Well, thank you very much, officer. That’s why we’re paying you to screw us and protect your criminal superiors. Makes you feel really secure, doesn’t it?

Well, we’re very happy you like the blog. Keep reading it and keep commenting. Things appear to be moving in a positive direction with the BoE and I don’t think that they’re going to disappoint us…unlike Whalen, Engel, Latter, and Reville, the new majority are not bound by a single special interest, they’re not a member of the Coeymanazis, and they’re all very independent thinkers, who are mostly local business people who started on their own and know the community from the bottom up. Give them a chance and your support.

Once again, thank you for your comment. It was spot on!

If you live in the Village, your lucky as you get to pay Village and Town tax. (said with sarcasm). By combining both, you won’t loose the identity of the Village not that the identity is something to savoir anymore as it is well known as the butt-hole of Albany County. The Town of Bethlehem for instance still has a Glenmont, a Delmar, etc. but is the Town of Bethlehem. What is the big deal …………. wouldn’t we all like to save a buck here and there? Then we could dissolve at least one of the money sucking boards and the people that sit on it!

You’re very on the money (no pun intended), QPQ. I just don’t get it; it’s just too idiotic! On the one hand residents are screaming about taxes, spending, no more money for services, and on the other hand the town board is handing out little gifts to its little pets. This thing with Kerry Thompson should raise some eyebrows, one would hope, since taxpayers are already paying Gregory Darlington more than $91,000 in salary plus benefits! Wait a minute, now he needs an administrative assistant at more than $30.00/hour? What am I missing here?

By the way, that’s the very same Kerry Thompson who refused to take a woman’s harassment complaint. It’s the same Kerry Thompson who flagrantly violated the Coeymans police department policy and procedure, setting himself up for disciplinary action, too. And this is the goon who’s going to be administrative assistant to that dunce, Gregory Darlington? Give me a break!

Why the two municipalities even exist is beyond me…talk about stupidity!

      Thanks for your comment!

      Peace!

How very true and accurately stated. I think it’s time for two referendums: (1) a popular move to eliminate the moneypit and abusive Coeymans police department and (2) a referendum to consolidate and combine Ravena and Coeymans under on administration and management system, as a corporation, perhaps.

Organizational and educational meetings should be planned as soon as possible!

Actually, you’d sue the municipality on whose behalf the thug would be performing. If he were acting as a paid officer for Coeymans he would be an agent of the Coeymans municipality and you’d sue Coeymans. Which uniform is he wearing at the time. But you’re right, if he or she is working as a full time employee of one department he or she should not be working for another department … how can you perform at your best if you’re not getting recovery or rest. Isn’t the Albany County Sheriff’s department paying Kerry Thompson enough that he doesn’t need a second job with Coeymans? Can’t he stop being psycho-cop for a day? Something’s wrong when one well-paid job just isn’t enough. There’s a big problem.

We have several like that on the Coeymans force. Some work for the Albany County sheriff’s department another for the Rensselaer department. Coeymans takes them all, even if they’re fired from one department, Darlington will find a home for them–then they owe the godfather. Get it?

Disclaimer: I don’t live in Coeymans.

That being said, I’ve always been a fan of ending New York’s (and the Northeast in general) longtime hobby of small-area government. I like how in the west things are consolidated at the county level, and there’s very little local government or local services. Everything is done by the county (such as a county sheriff’s department) except for a few small services. That includes the school system.

I see no reason why you have Coeymans and Ravena right next to each other, each with their own overhead of running things.

Of course, Simon, you know very well why Ravena and Coeymans run things separately and so inefficiently…they’re idiots. Even the Coeymans police don’t quite know where Coeymans starts and Ravena ends…two justice courts? It’s completely idiotic!!!
