About Our Blog “Smalbany, New York”

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog now.

There’s something about small cities and the little towns that cluster around them. Somehow there’s a sort of contagion that happens. Albany and the towns that surround that locale, including the towns in the foothills of the Catskills, in northern Greene County, western Columbia County, Rensslaer County and Schenectady County seem to share the arrogance that comes with being small and declining, necessitating a certain defensiveness or in the worst cases, a certain species of treachery and self-centeredness, perhaps akin to response to feeling threatened, a survival instinct from a primeval past.

There’s an awful lot happening in Smalbany, Ravena, Coeymans, New Baltimore, just to name a few of the hotbeds of juicy scandal and banditry.

If the residents are not on the attack, or in someone’s pocket, they tend to lay low and let the loudest among them fight it out. Local news media are failures, struggling, snapping up any putrid bait they can and rushing to spill ink–hoping it won’t backfire. You’re safe if you have some dirt on them or if you can afford to sue. Sound familiar?

So many of the attacks are ambush, under cover of darkness, and most of the time you won’t know where the shots are coming from.

We’d like to change that with this blog. We’d like to tell it like it really is and print what the logrolling editors won’t either to save their own necks, to avoid rocking the boat, or because they’re in that special inner circle, on the local A-list.

You should also know that we encourage your participation but this is not one of those hit-and-run sites where you can leave a nasty anonymous message and hide behind a fake identity. We require all contributors to have a valid e-mail address when leaving a comment. The e-mail will not be published but it just keeps the game clean. We hope you appreciate our efforts.

Please read the visitors’ comments made by our readers. If you go to the bottom of any post you will see the key words (a.k.a. categories) and at the end of those words you’ll see the word “Comments.” If you click “”Comments” you can leave a comment or read others’ comments (to which you can also reply).

In the upper right corner of the pages you will see a place where you can enter your e-mail and get automatic updates whenever a post is changed or a new post added. You’ll always be current. Just click on “Follow Me!”

We hope you’ll stick with us and send us your comments. Tell us what and how you feel. Stand up! You don’t have to take it anymore!

Be welcome and enjoy your visit!

P.s. Do a neighbor a favor and send them a link to this blog.

Special Notice: We make every effort to be truthful, complete, fair, and balanced on this blog; therefore, if you see anything that you know to be false or incorrect, or if you have additional information to clarify any issue, please let us know by e-mailing your information or by leaving a comment. It’s very important to us that we don’t fall into the same category as those whom this blog is intended to expose. Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation and assistance!

As a small business owner in Albany, it has it’s challenges. I run a gift basket business
I find the companies support more business outside our area than in previous years. Hopefully we will see some economic growth and development which in turn will bring more business to smaller companies like myself.

I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout
on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself?
Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one today.

First and Last time I visit this off center, one sided stink sheet…. You should be embarrassed and sued… When I fought in a war to preserve liberties & freedom of speech, I never envisioned your level of malevolence and the damage that you do…

Thank you for your comment, Robert.

You must have fought in one of the wars on the opposing side because judging from your comment, you couldn’t have been fighting a war in defense of anything in the American constitution. Either that or your don’t read English very well.

You’re obviously full of BS anyway, because you must have found something you liked here: You visited this blog more than 20 times in one day!

Our advice to you, Robert White, if that’s your real name, is to pull your head out and return to reality. We have a suspicion you may have suffered a head injury in that imaginary war you claim to have fought “to preserve liberties and freedom of speech.”

We are publishing your comment solely as an example of the kind of crank comments we get from spooky people like you. Normally, we would be inclined to TRASH it without consideration but it does help if we also represent the comments from the lunatic fringe.

Quite frankly, we don’t know what you are talking about. Yannis Too is not really of the stature that we would want even to consider on this blog. Too pedestrian, too bar-fly. Sorry, but we would have no interest in a common bar, pick-up joint on this blog. Too Coeymanazi, if you catch my gist. Thank you, anyway, though.

    June 8, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Politics aside, whats your take on the Senior Prank? And by prank, I mean the Post it notes, not the disgusting graffiti that some other entities created. Harmless, or worthy of our suspension? And please try to leave personal feelings about staff out of it, I am well aware of your opinion of our administration.

To be very honest, graduation is a transition and for generations, ages it has been tradition for high-school/university students (before there were “high-school students”) to do something to distinguish their group, and to transition their entry into the real world. Before our time (way back into the infancy of “universities”) they were as, if not more outrageous than what we today consider over the limit. From the pastoral perspective, those kids, obscene or otherwise (obscenity is merely an admission of prudery!), are transitioning from a phase of adolescence to “in the world” adulthood, and are leaving their mark on the threshold of growth and development. God bless them and allow them their transition. We congratulate them and commend them. We who have passed thru that threshold and who have governed the world since, need to examine our own “midemeanors” rather than condemn youthful transition. It’s a prank! Our generation has waged numerous wars, killing innumrable inocents, we have condemned myriad of our neighbors without good cause, we in this very community have literally commited crimes against our neighbors, yet we want to criminalize youth and youthful exhuberance? Get a life and rejoice in their prank! It’s reminiscent of our youth of yesterday; something we would do well to remember and to appreciate. It’s innocent, it’s generative, it’s wonderful! It’s a sacred ritual of transition and transformation, something we have prepared them for. Why shouldn’t they celebrate? You staid old fogies, Participate! They are remisiniscing, resurrecting our youth lost! Amen.

      The Editor

P.s. The administrators have to respond to save face. Accept the idiotic suspension and move on. Some day, perhaps even tomorrow, you’ll see the folly in their desperate response to the stagnancy of public opinion. And screw those morons at the Times Union and the whore media; be yourselves, enjoy your moment of triumph! You’ll have plenty of time in future to be serious and stoic, even cynical (but I pray you’ll rise above that). The Times Union and their ilk are not of or in our community; their interests are purely mercenary. They know nothing of us! You are of us and our future! Prank on!

…one more item–why does government want to ‘control’ things? All government for all of us. Does it do anything or is it just to let them flex their muscles?

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 19, 2012 at 1:11 pm

      Dear PUndit:

Those are all incredibly interesting questions and all deserve closer scrutiny. Obviously PEOPLE are behinde very one of them and that’s where we have to probe…any body cavity is legit on all of these issues. All I can say is FEED ME! and I’ll regurgitate it in a form they can’t IGNORE!

But, my principle stands firm: ONLY FACTS, ONLY TRUE FACTS, and ONLY FACTS and SOURCES that are REPUTABLE.

I need community support and input on all of this. I can’t do it alone but with community inputs, like on the RCS CSD issues, I can get the word out. 20,000 readers/visitors is nothing to sneeze at, especially when a good number of them are from “special places.” Get my gist?

Now is the time to start educating people, not in November!

Peace and thanks very much for your inputs and support!

Unfortunately, government has turned into a profit place for special interests. To be very honest, that sovereignty does have a grain of good common sense to it, and raises some very valid questions and issues. The problem is that it’s small but I understand it’s growing very rapidly. I was in the Rochester area a couple of weeks ago and I was seeing sovereinty signs all over the place. The sovereignty movement is nothing new; it actually started in 1773 with the Boston Tea Party! Today, it’s a very scary thing for big government; that’s why they try to feed the public with crap and propaganda, associating it with home terrorism, white supremicism, and the like. It’s all propaganda, and intended, like all propaganda to spread dysinformation, anxiety, and confusion. Propaganda is a control method. But that’s what the government has turned into; a playpen for misfits where they can serve their cronies and enjoy 15 minutes of power. Unfortunately, the 15 minutes sometimes turns into 15 or 30 years! Especially when the residents don’t have the brains of a woodchuck, and are just as ballsy!

      Thanks again,

Not a comment on this post but I am looking to discuss things that either are going to, might, or looks like they might happen in our neck of the woods, like:
-When do you think LaFarge will tire of ever increasing taxes and begin to ship raw material down the Hudson?
-What is going on with the proposed recycling proposal and the Town of Coeymans’ efforts to ‘control’ it?
-When do you think the Town of Coeymans will actually do something positive?
-Exactly what measurable good raising teacher and administrator pay does for RCS Students?
-Why does the Village of Ravena Government seem to have it so much more ‘together’ than does the Town?
-Why do Policemen sit on private property and hide so they can be able to pounce on drivers whose mind wanders a bit with regard to their speed? Isn’t there a better use of the approximately $100,000 fully equipped car(& Driver)? Sure people get off the Thruway in Coxsackie rather then idle through the vaunted 9W corridor and those parked idling patrol cars are just another one of the reasons.

There is a lot more but I think the above might stir some discussion….but maybe not as most of our citizens seem able to complain but either after the fact or just plain ‘talk’ about it.

    🙂 😦 -I saw these somewhere.

It’s nice to read that you’re making some improvement but adding “Intelligent” to your former handle, “Taxpayer,” is a bit absurd, isn’t it? I mean, considering the substance of the comments you’ve been sending in. Me thinks you made a simple transposition and probably wanted to transpose “admire” with “pity” and “intelligent” with “pitiful.” It would seem more realistic and credible under the current circumstanced had you changed your handle by having added the adjective, to get “Pitiful Taxpayer.” Don’t you think that corresponds more with true fact?

How are students wearing “Vote Yes!” t-shirts abuse?

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 18, 2012 at 4:33 pm

You’d have to understand what power, bullying, abuse entails. To even think that an adult–you are an adult aren’t you? You’re not one of those delinquents from the high school impersonating an adult and wasting my time?–have to ask a question like that really sets my teeth on edge, and makes me think you share the Coeymanazi mentality, perhaps you do. Before I really make an ass out of you with a detailed explanation, I’d like to go gently with you and let you mull the question about and think–you know, use the bigger of your two heads, for once, to figure out a problem–you can do it; I have every confidence in you, Taxpayer! (That’s a really kewl handle, where’d ya get it?) Thinking and working this out may be painful for you at first but you’ll get to enjoy it. If you have any problems with the link of abuse and students posing as walking political messages and trapsing around a voting area encouraging a Yes! vote, or the ethics of the situation, while it wouldn’t surprise me, I’ll try to help you through it. Agreed?

You have all weekend. Talk to ya later 😉

Regarding the student who brought the gun to school his name is David Peasley, a senior who also attends the Votec Program. He had the rifle in the trunk of his car in the senior parking lot. He claims that he went turkey hunting that morning before school.

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 18, 2012 at 11:52 am

Thank you very much for confirming the other parents’ reports. Guns are guns, turkey hunting or not! As a senior he should have sense enough to know what he’s doing and when. Aren’t those teachers and administrators teaching anything common sense at RCS other than how to unethically and wrongfully influence democratic process, how to be foul and disrespectful, and the list goes on! But that clumsy, double-dipping, sloppy-ass Miller get’s a $10K stipend for what? Managing energy when he can’t even manage getting down a flight of stairs! DumbAss Maxiumus! Then the idiot voters in this district pass a budget to give those morons more money to waste and to pad their pockets together with job security; the only security they should be getting is MAXIMUM SECURITY at Coxsackie Correctional!

      Thank you, RCS Concerned!

For Seniors like me, it IS a personal victory. It’s the first time I’ve ( and other seniors) have voted on this issue, which I’ve seen come up throughout the years many a time. And this year was an absolute critical year for this budget. Now, not only do the 12 years of students under me have the opportunity to reap the benefits that I have from RCS over time, its even more personal because my younger siblings do. And being a part of a group of people who have consistently been criticized and put down on a very public forum, yet still rose to the challenge to push forward what we think to be right gives it a sense of sweet satisfaction.

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 16, 2012 at 12:17 am

One of the problems that I, as an ethicist, see in your attitude and behavior is a lack of experience and reference points. You have no life experience, have made no contribution to the community or even to your own existential situation, and consequently you are only a reflection of the models to which you have been exposed, and those, my dear boy, are very limited. Your sense of humiliation, too, is misapprehended because you have failed to realize the developmental crisis in which you have been hovering for the past couple of years and, as it appears from what you have written, the still somewhat tentative identity that you have found is not yet matured, you’re wielding it unsteadily. Honestly, you have only yourself to thank for having been criticized and–while I disagree with your wording–“put down” (why, because someone disagreed with you and proffered arguments that your inexperience could not tackle?); you were not coerced into entering the adults’ discussions, you entered the forum voluntarily, you threw down the gauntlet, you made the challenge. No one invited you; no one called you out. So why now cry foul? Please don’t seek pity here. In fact, if you had never appeared for all practical purposes you would never had an existence. You ought to be grateful for the opportunity to have existed, even if it were for a few moments of what you appear to feel was humiliation. Be aware, also, that your “sweet sense of satisfaction” is purloined; it is not yours by right. You are enjoying it because it has been allowed you; you did not earn it, an like most of what you enjoy, you owe to society. Even for these words you are in debt. I am saying these things to you in the hope that you will come to appreciate what, who, and where you are.

In reality, you will leave most probably this area only later to look back and thank your good fortune not to have to return. You will be in that real or mythical “elsewhere.” If you choose to come back and make a real contribution to the area that will be a decision you can make in reality and not in idealism. At this time you have only lived, not contributed; you have received or taken, not given. What you do in the future, near and remote, will be decisive. So far you have no right to proselytize; proselyting is for those who have wisdom to share, not for the neophyte or the child. This was the basis for the amusement when your schoolmates attempted to enter an adult forum with their naiveté; kittens trying to vie with wolves. If it were a graphic representation it would be surreal, comical even. You initially gave some indication that you might have been in a differnt category. But there they were, Timothy, Karin, Seamus making asses of yourselves but thinking in their limited idealism that they were now big boys and girls…only to start sniveling and screeching obscentities and insults when things didn’t go the way you expected them to go. All of a sudden, your worlds were crashing down around you and all you all could do was rant and insult and make complete fools of yourselves. Then the wolves ate the kittens.

You are arrogant to claim a victory as personal that is not yours. Learn some humility and you’ll fare much better.

We have commented on the issues as they arose. The issue of the vote is passé. The community has spoken.
It’s fruitless to return to the battlefield to mutilate the fallen and the corpses, if I may offer a very questionably à propos metaphor but I think you get the gist.
Rather than return with your pride, work towards mending a hurthing community with charity.

Not at all. The process from what I was able to observe was orderly and disciplined. The community of voters has expressed their majority will. I was one of them who had the privilege of making my voice heard.
In fact, we have already congratulated the successful promoters as well as the very important election of Judy Sylvester to a seat on the BoE.

What a vengeful and mean spirited citizenry we have here.
Normally I would have used the word ‘community’ but I don’t think we are at that level. Reading and listening to what others have to say certainly makes it easy to see why people either will not come here to live and/or only come here because it costs less for rent or purchase a home. As they see their way clear they move on.

Everyone and anyone needs to be able to say what they feel and think and not have to be concerned about what may happen to them or their family by those who do not agree with them-that is what America is or was all about.
Sadly, this is certainly not the case here.

The outcome of today’s vote will not change who we are as individuals and we will see what it does to the area. We need to keep close track of the/any increase/decrease in population, students, For Sale signs and the like as, no matter what the outcome, things will change.

Thanks for the opportunity to speak.

I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have created this forum for free speech and blessed also to have the variety in opinions that were cogent, coherent, and civil enough to have been worth publication.

You would likely not be surprised at the ones that came in as e-mails or comments that were just too angry, evil, obscene, lunatic to have published them. Both the published and the unpublished responses are a clear barometer of a very, very, frightened, angry, dysfunctional district.

The growth in readership of this blog, considering its very narrow interst focus, the RCS district, is phenomenal. We had 1007+ readers on the blog yesterday! That’s alost 200 more readers than our previous single day high of 850 readers. People are reading this blog, people are talking about this blog, people are pissed over this blog, people are kicking up their heels over this blog; some are simmering over this blog. But the blog is alive and well, and growing, growing, growing. Spread the word!

Regardless of the outcome of the vote, I am very, very grateful to people like you, Pundit, who are beacons in a storm. Thank you for your comments, your readership, your support.

Moderation – 1.The avoidance of excess or extremes, esp. in one’s behavior or political opinions.
2.The action of making something less extreme, intense, or violent.
You just “redacted” my comment to only respond to the portion you wanted too, while leaving out most of my points. You’ve also left out most parts of my comment that direct quotes from things you yourself have said. As for uncivil language, just look at the manner in which you respond to comments.

Actually, I initially TRASHED this comment, too, Disgusted Taxpayer. You just don’t seem to be getting it! So, just to show how fair I can be and how dumb some of our readers can be, I UNTRASHED it and am now publishing it. You kept pushing now I’m pushing back. OK? Fair enough?

What the devil makes you think you need to define moderation for us? What in hell makes you think you need to tell the world that such and such part of your comment was “redacted” and why you think it was redacted. Who cares? You’re the only one who gives a shite.

Worse still, and this should suffice to show how dumb you really are: Rule No. !: You don’t attack the moderator who you want to publish your crap! Who in hell do you think you are, Dumbo, to point out to me how I respond to the gazillions of DumbAsses that send in comments that are even worse than yours! Get on the train, Disgusted Taxpayer! Go straight to Coeymans where you’ll probably find a pack of soul-mates in all the inbred Coeymanazis there!

You still haven’t said a thing that’s on topic or relevant to the other reasonable and well-thought out comments here.

You admittedly only allow the comments you want to be shown, so you control and censor what those who comment say. “Normally we trash them right off but some of them are so creepy, like this one, that we’d like to share them with the general readership.”
“Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog now.”

What kind of DOUBLE STANDARD is that, huh? According to YOU, you don’t want them on your blog, so why not trash all their comments?

      May 14, 2012 at 7:37 am

[Editor’s Note: Inappropriate parts of this comment were redacted as no-on topic, personal attack, or for uncivil language.]

Yes, silly, we do allow and disallow certain comments. That’s what moderation means! We have certain criteria that are posted in Rules of the Road, if you’d take a minute to read instead of rant. We don’t need to publish idiotic remarks, personal attacks, stupid criticisms, advertisements for websites, or filthy comments. Now you know. We also do not publish comments from minors or students if we can identify them but this is not always possible. But usually the immature language or the stupidity of the comment, especially if it comes from the majority of RCS students, is a fairly reasonable giveaway that it’s an ignorant student trying to bypass the explicit warning that appears in the Rules of the Road and at the top of every article. TRASH–both the destination of the comment and the background of the student. Sorry, but if you get to read as many of them as I do, they are TRASHincompetent teachers and incompetent, uninterested parents: the recipe for ignorant trashy kids (Yes, I did use the animal term to describe these young mammals).

And YES! It is a DOUBLE-STANDARD: the standard is ACCEPTABLY ON-TOPIC or UNACCEPTABLY IGNORANT (that’s why most of your comment has been “redacted.”) The Rules of the Road require at least an average reading comprehension ability as does the warning at the top of the posts; that may be why the students are not getting the message, and why some adults are missing it, too.

You asked that your comment pass moderation so we met you halfway: we published the portion that only half showed your ignorance. We spared you the embarassment of the rest.

A mad man portraying all those around him to be mad? It’s almost cliche. In order to gain our attention you must do two things: believe that you are someone of importance and be very, very foolish. You have done both quite well, sir. Fides Qua Creditur? More like Stultus In Reges Vestimentum, it has a tone more suited to your nature. We’ve been doing our homework and we are very close to the truth. We’ll -b- in touch.

We’re just publishing this idiotic comment to illustrate the types that are commenting. They’re called comment trolls, comparable to lice on a rat. Ugly little low-self-esteem nuisances that pop up here and there, now and then, drop one of their fecal comments, and run off to lurk in the shadows. Strange little creatures, those trolls. Normally we trash them right off but some of them are so creepy, like this one, that we’d like to share them with the general readership. It’s an example of some of the psychotic ideations that go on in some sociopaths’ heads; it’s called projection: they see in others what they are themselves. Well, add another sicko to the growing list we’re keeping on the RCS community. We’re slowly narrowing it down to a handful of sane people in the district.

Actually, this sounds a lot like one of those puerile, moronic student types in league with the puerile, moronic depraved teachers at RCS. Are we right. Is that you, Timothy from RCS High School? Silly puppy, trying to be a real dog and bark!

You have been warned not to visit the blog or send comments; your comments are being trashed immediately on identification.

We have your IP (so does the FBI) so don’t start with the idiotic “we’ll be in touch,” how little do you know. We’ll be in touch with your principal and request that he contact your parents.

        May 13, 2012 at 7:24 pm

Timothy, “Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog now.” This quotation is clearly placed at the top of the web page, you might not know this Timothy, however anyone including yourself is aloud to speak what is on there mind, because we live in the United States of America and have a constitution that gives us many freedoms. Although you want to stick up for the things you think are right, in all honesty you are an uninformed CHILD, your behavior and lack in vocabulary shows this. The blog is not made for children for obvious reasons. Clearly it is proven that you can not handle an ADULTS blog. On top of your post on here, writing a post on facebook about it to “bitch” shows even more of your immature childish behavior. You said the following on facebook about the blogger “A disgraced and very, very angry person. A failure and a cold hearted miser” Do you honestly, personally know him that you can make these presumptions besides looking at his blogs? You then posted an article that was also freedom of speech and minimal fact from 2007…..Did you know that we are in 2012 and information changes? You said “he threatens use of the fbi and law enforcement but they see him as a lunatic. he’s almost entirely bluffing with his threats” by calling him out on Facebook, you took it a step to far, and I don’t think you realize what you are doing on Facebook verbally being rude to them, to all of your friends (most under voting age) is bullying no matter what his age, gender, nationality they are. You Timothy are childish and deserve to be pedantically talked down to, you make wrong decisions and should worry about yourself before you worry about someone else. To sum it up GROW UP and bring real facts to the table before you talk about someone else.

        May 13, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Thank you, Informed. I really have to wonder where these children get the time to be such nuisances and where the parents are when all of this is going on. What sort of socialization do these urchins have when they presume to be so arrogant and brazen. They have only to expect a really rude awakening when they finally get into the real world and are hazed to the max. What a terrible experience that will be for these overprotected, unprepared children in mens’s suits.

Thank you for your comment. One can only hope that it strikes home. Timothy doesn’t realize it, poor puppy, but he’s actually proving by example most of my points.

One can only hope for improvement over time.

” This is one of the questions we are currently investigating is in response to reports that a certain prominent teacher–we have the teacher’s name–at RCS is recruiting a bully-gang to harass an intimidate the children or relatives of persons who oppose the teachers association proposal or the school budget.”

Please inform me of how you came to acquire such information and reports of an RCS teacher committing such an act. This is a SERIOUS accusation to make about ANY RCS teacher. I’m agitated because either this is true and happening within the school district I currently reside in(which is completely UNACCEPTABLE), OR, it is not the truth and it is a horrible thing to say about someone without legitimate “factual bases”.

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 9, 2012 at 8:09 am

      Dear Agitated Taxpayer:
Thanks again for your interest and for your comment. Yes, such a report is SICKENING, and yes it is SERIOUS and it is UNACCEPTABLE. We have purposely and intentionally NOT published the name of the teacher alleged to have instigated the bully gangs and we have further not indicated which of the schools is involved. Furthermore, and at the risk of certainly repeating myself for the zillionith time, we respect the confidentiality requests of concerned readers and never publish their comments, names or identifiers if they request confidentiality. We destroy all communications to further ensure their confidentiality. Many people in the community are fearful and consider the community vengeful. We have most readers’ trust and we will not compromise it.

Secondly, we did not publish the teachers name precisely because of the horribleness of the allegations. We did not publish the actual school in which it was alleged to be happening, although the school is already noted for bullying activities. The reason is, again, because of the seriousness. Imagine for a moment if we published the name of the teacher and s/he were innocent. Could you forgive us for that injustice? Could we forgive ourselves?

We notified first the school authorities, the principals Brian Bailey and Pamela Black, and the Superintendent of Schools, and also the entire BoE. We published the warning article so that the word would be out that we knew about it and so that parents and schools should be attentive to the potential problem. That, in itself, could very well be effective in halting any such activity and buy time for the authorities to launch an investigation. WHICH APPARENTLY THEY DID NOT!

One pricipal, Brian Baily of RCS high school, as we reported in “Incredible” appears to be totally unaware of the problems because he’s “focused on teaching and learning.” That’s nice but what about safety and security? Pamela Black, principal of the Middle School, hasn’t even bothered to answer e-mails, the principals of the other two RCS schools were not contacted because it was unlikely their schools were involved.

Rather than asking why we don’t violate a reader’s request for confidentiality or why we don’t wantonly attack a possibly innocent teacher, perhaps you should be asking what the principals Brian Bailey and Pamela Black, and the RCS superintendent of Schools, Elizabeth Smith, are doing in response to the report. Or asking how many RCS parents have contacted the schools about it or spoken to their kids about it. That might be a better place to start asking questions.

We do know that the Office of the County District Attorney has been reading the blog (unless it’s Mrs Darlington wasting taxpayer money to satisfy her curiosity) as has the FBI Criminal Investigation System. Those two agencies cannot overlook such an allegation and we would hope that they are doing their jobs and collecting enough evidence to move on.

      Thanks again!

  29. Looking for info.

    May 8, 2012 at 9:26 pm

[Editor’s Note: We ask readers to try to overlook the buzz words used in this short but volatile comment. We were first inclined to trash it becaus it pushes the line on civility but because the allegations are serious, we decided to publish it unedited, hoping that either readers will come forward with support or opposition to the allegations. Mr Lukens, we apologize for any unjustified embarassment we may be causing you but it’s better you know this is out there.]

Just a quick question here: Why are there no articles posted on this blog about the incompetence of Jeffrey Lukens? He is a cruel man who has been recently divorced on very poor terms, charged with DUI, drug possesion and is surrounded by allegations of domestic abuse, and yet he still sits on the board? This is a man who is barely fit to be allowed in public but still he is in charge of something as serious as the Board of Ed! Where’s the dirt on this perv?? Surely he couldn’t have gone unnoticed!

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 9, 2012 at 7:53 am

For one thing, we have been covering the RCS community for more than a month now and, 11,000 readers have signed in without a peep about Mr Lukens. No press or media coverage has been produced, not even in the notorious rag-for-scandal, the Times Useless, which, in our opinon, noting the past inaccuracies of the Times Useless, the Lukens allegatations may be true, especially if the Times Usless is not publishing them (tongue-in-cheek 😉 ). Thirdly, Mr Lukens is a duely elected local personality, democratically elected by his community to his seat on the board. As in other cases, we reasonably believe that the electorate was aware of Lukens’ history and lifestyle, but preferred to overlook them in a favor of his other qualities. We do not intend to second guess the local electorate.

Your comment is the first time we have hear of the allegations, and if that’s what they are, “allegations,” which means nothing more than someone claims or says these things happened, we are not interested. Period. We don’t deal in mere allegations and we can’t know unless someone suggests, as you have. But if you have some sort of hard evidence like press or media coverate, police blotter information, court records, etc. corroborating witnesses or persons with knowledge, we’ll be very happy to review that material or contact those persons (or if you have them contact us, to verify them) and then go for the story.

Thanks very much for your comment and for your concern for the board.

      May 8, 2012 at 4:48 pm

      Dear Agitated Taxpayer:

Your comment makes no sense. Perhaps you need to be more specific and take more time with your comment. As is, your comment is accusatory but not much more. If you have a statement to make, please make it clearly so that the rest of us can appreciate what you have to say and perhaps respnd to it.

You may be agitated–maybe a bit too agitated–but this blog is probably not the cause; if you hear something on the blog you don’t like, there may be reasons for that and it’s not just because it’s been said here by us. So think about that.

You have no basis for making any claim whatsoever regarding our sources. In fact, simply making that statement reveals that you are ignorant of the overall content of this blog. Our sources are valid. If you took any reasonable time to read the posts you will have seen that we publsh the links to our sources and to other sources of more detailed information. We also have a very strict confidentiality policy which promises to those sharing intelligence and information that if they do not wixh to be identified, we are committed to protecting their identities. In most instances, we will verify the informant and then destroy the communication. We are fully committed to trust. We have to acknowledge that the perception in the RCS community is that it is very vengeful and residents have a great deal of anxiety. Luckily we have won their trust.

Please spend more time on garnering factual bases for any comment you make in future and avoid wasting our time with ejaculations like the one you sent. We’ll be pleased to respond to any sensible comment.

      Thanks for your effort.

There is another corrupt board member you haven’t mentioned here so far….. James Latter. You need to take a look at the board meeting from November 1 and read the subsequent News Herald who did a front page story on this family and what Mr. Latter did to them! Also, in the board members part of you blog you failed to mention that Mr. Latter’s wife is a Math teacher at the middle school…… Amanda Latter. Yet another member voting to give themselves a raise!

    • Fides qua Creditur

      May 5, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Thanks very much for the report. We’ll look at the Nov 1 board meeting and get the NH article. We’ll also verify that Latter’s wife is a teacher at the middle school. It’s not that we doubt your report but it is our poslicy to verify everything we can before going after the delinquents, because some of their conduct may be of interest to law enforcement and may be subject to criminal prosecution. We also have unconfirmed reports that another RCS teacher, Matt Miller, is recruiting students to become part of a bully patrol to harass a particular student. Again, we are waiting for confirmation of this report before moving on it. If it is true, we will prosecute it to the maximum extent and will involve the FBI for enfocement of federal anti-bullying crimes. Please let us know if you have any information on Miller’s activity or if you know of anyone who has.

All information will be kept confidential and, in future, if you have a report or want to contact us with information, please be sure to write in your comment or e-mail “CONFIDENTIAL” or “FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.” If you do that, we know you do not want us to publish the comment or information. We are grateful for the courageous residents who are watching out for the children and will do everything possible to protect your interests.

Thank you once again for your support and for your concern for the community and the schools!

My apologies, I had not yet checked my email. While I do appreciate the time spent in creating your well articulated points, I had hoped you would have responded in a manner to where my peers could have seen it, NOT so they could again start a heated debate, but could understand your intentions. Mis-communication is most likely the leading cause of conflict and I hoped to you would clarify somethings for my peers.

Thank you, Keith. We appreciate your comments.

Generally, we try to keep comments short and on topic. If we find that a comment needs a longer response as did yours, we try to respond at length privately. You articulated yourself very clearly and like an adult avoiding polemic and ad hominem attacks; there was every reason to respond to you as an intelligent adult and to show you the respect you obviously deserve.

Unfortunately, if you read some of your schoolmates’ comments they were in very few respects (no pun intended) comparable to your comment. The thread that ran through them was that their minds were already made up and their positions fortified; you have to know when to hold and when to fold.

Moreover, this blog is not for the weak of mind or heart 😉 You have to have some level of intelligence and maturity to go with the flow. It’s not here to harm but to act as a catalyst, a gentle activator, not a corrosive one. In my experience and noting the underlying emotion in your schoolmates’ comments their concerns could not be resolved in any response I could have offered. In fact one, Tim, actually went over the top in escalating his involvement to the level of threat. But that’s a matter for school authorities and law enforcement.

You have promise as a leader, Keith, and you certainly turned my head in terms of how I was impressed by RCS highschool students!

Thank you for disagreeing but doing so intelligently and cogently!

I do not seek to trade insults or argue points back and forth. Each person has a right to there own opinions and thoughts and under the First Amendment has a right to voice that opinion (appropriately). To the creator of this blog,
Sir/Ma’am, I am a senior here at RCS. I’ve been in this school system since kindergarten. As I read sections of you blog, I wonder about your reasons for having such a blog? At first glance, one would assume the goal of such a website would be to improve upon an issue/issues one has with a situation and to resolve the issue/issues as soon as possible. And such an goal is certainly admirable. But with your aggressive style of writing, and how you directly attack individuals, I feel as if that improving upon our school district as well as the RCS community is not your goal. I sense that your using of harsh language in a negative manner create unnecessary conflict that only hinders the community. If I am wrong, I implore you to enlighten me on the purpose of this website and if it is to improve RCS and the community, to explain to me how this blog is pushing the idea forward. Now I saw above that you claimed that my peers and friends have not made any valid points, so I will sum up what I am trying to get across as plainly and direct as possible.
-What is the goal of this blog?
-Why do you post in a manner that can and sometimes is offensive to readers?
-How will this blog improve our community and school?(I’m assuming that is the goal, correct me if I am mistaken)

No one is bashing anyone from this editor’s desk. What have been reading is an awful lot of anger, infantile frustration, and a total lack of control. This is not the place for children to publish their blather; there are other places for that and I would urge you to go there. This blog is not here to listen to you or to be a forum for your teachers to pipe their views through you. That’s abuse in my vademecum. Neither you nor your friends have made any valid points; what you have done is demonstrated a remarkable aggression and, in some cases, a remarkably poor command of the English language. We have no obligation to publish your comments and if they are trash, they will go to the trash. That’s the way I run things. Period.

I will not block you or your friends from the blog but take notice that we have no intention of publishing your whining. Perhaps it for your own good that we don’t.

Are you really convinced that it’s an “innocent highschool senior?” If it is in fact a highschool senior then he or she should be old enough to take the punches and get back up; otherwise, they should keep their mouths shut and let adults take care of adult business. If they feel up to taking a shot at adult business then they should be ready for a shellacking as well.

You also seem to be missing the major point here: What the devil are the highschool seniors, if they are really highschool seniors, doing on the internet, reading and commenting on blogs when they should be engaged in learning pursuits!!!! Did you once ask where the teachers are while all this is going on?

And who is the “WE” when you write that we are “misrepresenting every work WE say?” That would be an interesting question to have answered!

You’ve got my dander up and I’m afraid I might say what I really thing and it won’t be pretty. So I’ll simmer down and let the authorities make their investigations.

But I shudder when I think that you people might really be students and that you may have kids someday and might even vote!

CHILDREN should not be reading or commenting on ADULT blogs! Where are your parents? Where are your teachers?

If you are a minor PLEASE do not send comments. If you want to comment please have a responsible, competent adult like a parent or a teacher send it for you.

We won’t comment on the spelling errors. Again, if these are RCS students, which we seriously doubt, they are the best examples of the product of poor parenting and even poorer teaching.]

Well seeing as you responded to not a single issue that I have placed before you and rather dodged the topic I see fit to dodge yours. Now to adress our anonyminity; and your own seeing as you are equally hyopcritical and cowardly. In the mean time please resume with your unbacked lunacy and borderline slander of otherwise upstanding rcs faculty.

One would hope that with life experience and a little brain development you might respond more cogently and with more of a sense of general awareness and appreciation of your ignorance. You are obviously emotionally immature and those immature emotions are boiling forth, adversely affecting your coherence and credibility. You seem to have your head stuck up beyond at least two anal sphincters (that’s anatomy, by the way) and cannot see the light outside; probably because you’ve had everything handed to you and have never had to face reality before. You obviously have no concept of the socio-economic abyss into which the area has descended; your greed and disconnection from reality is typical of the “me first,” self-gratifying, selfish, and expectant self-centeredness that characterizes your generation and those halfwits who are raising and teaching you all the wrong things.

And, in conclusion and without waiving any of the above statements, you are obviously not a concerned student, nor a student at all; you should be ashamed of yourself for masquerading as a student. You are a pervert, and need treatment–fast!

      Thank you for your comment.

P.s. If you are so enraged about anonymity and dissent, and feel that it is cowardice to post opinions, can you explain WHY you chose to hide behind a pseudonym? And why you and your alleged cooperators and supporters chose a moniker rather than sign with your names? Is it because you are a coward, a fraud, one of the delinquents we’re writing about? I’d guess: YES!
