Listening to some of the teachers and teachers’ spouses and their mouthpiece double-dipper Matt Miller, you’d think we were in the company of living saints! Well, on closer examination, we’re not! But to listen to their self-serving justifications and self-praise, I feel almost guilty breathing their air.
Substantial Pay Freeze?!? Who US? But we’re too dedicated! Greedy bastids!

Have you no shame?!?
Matt Miller was supposed to have met with the superintendent at 4 p.m., prior to the BoE meeting with the teachers association proposal. Miller showed up with the pay-freeze proposal (with conditions) up 2 minutes to 7 p.m. while the board was in executive session. (Note: The public proceedings start at 7 p.m.) How is it possible that the president of the teachers association presumes to submit a proposal and have that proposal adequately discussed when he submits it at the 11th hour! That’s outrageously irresponsible and unprofessional. To then make the impression on the public that the Board is being unfair in not accepting it is outright dishonest and is playing the voting and taxpaying public for fools! What’s even worse, is that Miller and the teachers made it look like the Board was being unfair–no one had time to fully review the proposal! Nice try, Matty-boy, but you really should be ashamed. So shame on Mr Miller, shame on the teachers association, and shame on the teachers for allowing this charade and fraud.

Great example, Matt. Keep up the good work…Yeah! That’s the kind of guy we want leading and representing the best interests of RCS students? Grow up Matt! You’re a big boy now, or are the kids having a bad influence on you?
Can you see beyond your greed?
For our out-of-state and international visitors: Ravena, Coeymans, and Selkirk are three communities South of Albany, New York. The region is depressed (and depressing) but the natural beauty is breathtaking (as is the unnatural stupidity of some of the residents). The important issues occupying their time and small minds include such things as immorality (how to enjoy it and keep it under wraps by pointing fingers at others) and “Who turned off the fryolater?” (Really! Here’s the link to the news article: Deep Fryer.) It’s remarkable: The very culprits, the ones who are whining about wasted money are the ones screaming to launch an investigation to find out who turned of the fryolator. If it weren’t so stupidly pitiful, it would be funny!

I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so many choices out
there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

I would recommend starting out with a platform like WordPress since it is a user-friendly site and can be upgraded as you become more proficient. Before you start considering paying for a blogging option I’d first try your hand at blogging and writing, find out whether you have an audience for your material, develop that audience, and then move on to bigger and more ambitious things.

My daughter talked about how school went yesterday evening during dinner. She states that two teachers, (I know the names) were talking loudly between classes for all to hear about some board members being incompetent and that they can’t believe people would be so stupid to have voted them in, etc. This is not an exact quote, but then my source is a high schooler. They are entitled to their opinions but please be professional about it with the kids present. I do remember at a recent board meeting that a person or two spoke about the board being disrespectful. THis should be a two-way street.

You’re absolutely right. Everyone has a right to opinion and dissent; the only limitation is how public it goes. From what I’ve been able to observe over this short time that the RCS School District has attracted my atention is that the teachers are far from being good role models and most of them are less mature than their students! Personal opinion has no place in the corridors nor in the pulpit. Discretion and common sense does not appear to be on the credentials list of the BS artists hired to teach in the RCS CSD. There’s more secrecy and skeletons in the school closets than there really should be but they appear to wallow in their own filth; the maid’s off this week, the cat’s away so the rats play! Who’s supposed to be supervising, disciplining, maintaining order among that rat pack anyway?
Cookie, you make a good point about the finger-pointing. It might be a good point to bring up at a BoE meeting.

As a voter, I am very conscious of having one of “every type” of board member. At last election, we had concerns over the weighting you mentioned, and voted accordingly. And it’s just not teachers, it’s members with/without kids. Business owners, etc.

The BOE approved the contract… it’s not relevant who physically wrote it. It was mutually agreed to by a majority of the BOE members and a majority of the RCSTA membership.
They (the RCSTA) didn’t have to give a cent back. If the BOE didn’t want it, they shouldn’t have voted to accept the contract.
If you’re upset that he teaches only 2 sections, you should criticize the BOE for accepting that as a clause in the contract as well.
If you’re upset he gets $10K for energy work, first review how much our bills have gone down. Then be critical of the BOE for selecting him for that job in the first place.

You make some good points. But we also need to remember that the BoE then and today is loaded disproportionately with ex-teachers and teachers’ spouses. That may have played a big role in any approvals. If you listen to the public statements and the disturbances in the background (the teachers group) you will be able to confirm exactly what I am saying.
