Threats of School Shooting at RCS High School!!!

As of March 29, 2018, we’re still waiting for the RCS District Superintendent Brian Bailey, RCS High School Principal Lisa Partierne, Coeymans Acting Police Chief Daniel Contento, Coeymans Supervisor Phil Crandall and others (see the list below) — anyone with real facts — to comment, provide a public statement, or provide the facts about the incident. No one seems to want to come out and make a statement on this important public safety, school safety issue. Why is that?

[Editor’s Note: The RCS Central School District issued a bland statement on the incident some three days after the incident, boilerplate, of course. The statement may be difficult to find because the main subject in the title is not “student safety” but “Dr Bailey”, narcissist! Read the say-nothing statement, CYA statement at “Message from Dr. Bailey – safe schools” last accessed on March 29, 2018) See our note about SNN at the end of this article.]

The Craziness Just Doesn’t Stop in Ravena-Coeymans!

What is RCS, Coeymans PD waiting for?

On Friday, March 23, 2018, three RCS high school  students were reported to be “joking” about coming into the highschool and shooting it up.

In our article “Drive-by Shooting Arrives in RCS” we were the first to break the story about the botched up investigation of a local drive-by shooting. Coeymans Police allowed the case to go cold; no real investigation, no suspects, no arrests, no prosecution. Criminals went free. Sheriff’s Department and State Police wouldn’t touch it without Coeymans Police requesting assistance. Request was never made.

If you recall, a high-school student at RCS high school was suspendid for wearing a T-shirt depicting a weapon (National Guard), and in another incident the school was locked down and a student arrested for having a rifle in his car trunk. Just recently students at Albany High School were terrorized and evacuated, and several students arrested for a school shooting incident. Why isn’t the RCS Central School District and the Coeymans Police Department reading the writing on the wall.

Three RCS highschool students Chandler L., Dylan A., and Cameran R. were apprehended and taken into the RCS high school principal’s, Lisa Patierne’s  office and suspended for five (5) days for allegedly “joking” about shooting up the high school.Five days should be just about enough time for them to plan their extracurricular criminal activities, obtain weapons and ammunition, and execute their plan for “shooting up” the high school.

RCS Central School District Superintendent Brian Bailey, RCS high school principal, Lisa Patierne, deputy principal, Joe Slichko, and Coeymans Police Department School Resource Officer, Schwebke and his boss, Coeymans Police Chief (acting) Daniel W. Contento have some questions to answer.

With the recent waves of gun violence in our schools, such “joking” must be taken to be real threats and the individuals not only taken into custody but subjected to intense psychological evaluation, surveillance and monitoring, and other controls. BUT NOT IN THE RCS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT!!!

RCS is not the inner city, it’s not Albany Arbor Hill or Newark, NJ. And with a more than $43 million dollar budget — about 75% of which goes to salaries for personnel —, what are the teachers teaching these kids? What are the parents doing about teaching these kids correct behavior, morality, good judgment? How is it with the media coverage of the slaughter, murder, mayhem, trauma and suffering caused by students to students, to parents, to whole communities in recent shooting, that the RCS community doesn’t take “joking” about such incidents more seriously? Behind every joke is a real situation!

And with the recent scandal revolving around law enforcement misconduct and the international attention it got: Did anyone at any of the schools discuss the reasons why the conduct of two Coeymans Police personnel was reprehensible, scandalous, and outrageous? Is there anything, any room in the RCS curricula for discussions of morality, ethics, etc. or about the systemic social and political failure in the United States today that puts us at the top of the list for school shootings and other social disgraces?

Our guess is that none of this gets any discussion in the RCS Central School District and, furthermore, that most RCS parents don’t bother to discuss such things with their offspring. Judging from the response to the Coeymans Police misconduct on just one site — The Care2 Petition, which received more than 87,000 signatures (more than 10,000 in New York State alone), and the embarrassing attendance at the March 22, 2018, Coeymans Town Board meeting, at which less than 20 people showed up, three of which traveled from as far away as Queensbury to make a public statement at that meeting. That alone shows how uninterested locals are in their community. It’s a stinking shame, an embarrassment! Then you wonder why we live in such a, well, cesspool, with equally shitty elected officials, and pretty third-world services, if any? Pardon our language but there are no other words to accurately describe the situation — and you know it’s true!

We all know that our legal system will hold a host giving a party accountable for damage and injuries caused by a guest leaving the party drunk, and while under the influence, getting involved in an accident.  We say hold the teachers, the administrators, the school board members, the police department school resource officers responsible for injuries and deaths occurring on school property. PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE; the taxpayers are already being sucked dry paying for these parasites and getting nothing in return. PERSONAL LIABILITY will get these dumbasses thinking about taking their responsibilities seriously.

In the RCS Central School District, school officials and law enforcement don’t take such “joking” = “threats” too seriously. After all, the teachters, administrators, and RCS school board members are all too busy padding their pockets, planning their retirements, or budgeting school tax dollars to benefit their cronies. The Coeymans Police are too busy running over raccoons in shopping mall parking lots.

You should have a lot of questions. You should be demanding answers. Our questions are:

  • How are the three students’ parents being handled in this case?
  • Do the parents of these three students have guns, ammunition in their homes? How are they secured? Have they been seized by law enforcement during the investigation or the pending investigation?
  • Were the parents of RCS high school and middle school students informed of this threat?
  • Were students in the RCS Middle School and RCS High School, two schools on the same location, informed of the threats in a professional manner? Were they informed about ways to detect such threats and a procedure to follow? Were they educated as to what to do in such an situation?
  • What actions, other than administrative suspension, were undertaken to investigate these students and the possibility that their “joking” was not real “threats”?
  • The RCS high school and middle school are in the jurisdiction of the Coeymans “Raccoon Killer” Police Department, what actions or plan of action do the Coeymans Police have for such threats?
  • Are these three students under supervision or surveillance?
  • What action did the RCS Central School District Superintendent, , and the RCS Central School Board of Education taken in this case?

There are some really serious questions that have to be answered in cases like this. Contact local officials to get the answers before you hear the sirens and learn about the local school shootings because nothing was done in cases like Chandler L, Dylan A. and Cameran R.

Is the RCS Central School District, the Coeymans Police Department, the Albany County DA P. David Soares waiting for this to happen?

Click HERE to return to the OFFICER IDENTIFIED story.

Note: Superintendent Bailey uses a techy acronym “SNN” in his so-called message. For those of you not privy to Bailey’s cryptic lingo, here’s what SNN is: School News Notifier (SNN) is an opt-in e-news service designed to help keep parents and the community more in touch with what is happening at schools via e-mail and/or text message. With SNN, administrators have the power to send updates and reminders about school activities, information about school closings and delays, and notices and other news. Parents and residents can sign up to receive e-mail messages from any of the schools and/or the district. Subscribers can choose to receive any or all of the alerts listed and can unsubscribe at any time. Subscribers must provide personal information but that information will not be shared with outside organizations. Question: What about the many computer illiterate adults, parents and non-parents, or those who do not own computers in the RCS Central School District. How does the rest of the community find out about what’s going on. That is, when our public servants ignore our requests for information?

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District Served with Notice of Claim: School Violence

Please send this link to your contacts who may be interested in this topic. Link: http://wp.me/p2jPFe-1OT

Abysmal Graduation Rates, Crooked Teachers and Self-Serving School Board, $42 Million Budget, NYS Mandates for Anti-Bullying Training, a New State Law, the Dignity Act, and…

Still Violence in the RCS Schools. WHY?

But it Does if you're a Student in the RCS Schools

But it Does if you’re a
Student in the RCS Schools

That’s an important point of investigation that is very likely to be made when the facts of a recent Notice of Claim come before the courts, and the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District has to cough up an explanation Why? after a history and a pattern of student-on-student violence, attacks, ambushes, even suicide attempts have been allowed to continue!

An outraged parent recently served a complex Notice of Claim on the RCS-CSD asking just those questions and demanding, among other things, answers. Seems that a school district with a budget consistently larger than that of local municipalities combined and the biggest employer of morons in the area should be able to come up with the right answers. But looking at what we have to deal with in terms of teachers (if Martin Case or Matthew Miller or Brian Bailey are to be taken as examples) or support staff (like Rocco Persico, a school psychologist on the RCS payroll) or even principals like Pam Black or  Brian Bailey, well-liked (Why? Because he’s a dolt! A wingnut! That’s why he was made assistant superintendent for curriculum: to get the dolt, the wingnut out of the school! Wake up!), the causes are obvious.

Before the most recent board of education elections when the board was literally drowned with new teachers-clique members by re-electing of all people James Latter (known best for his abuses and breaches of confidentiality), Peter Brown of the Mary Partridge-Brown/Matthew Miller odd-couple (Now it appears it’s a threesome. Patrick E. Brown, of Brown & Weinraub, an Albany law firm, Mary Miller’s — Oops! Brown’s — husband, was elected but we know all too well who’s really on the RCS board of education: Matthew Miller, double-dipping teacher and teachers union rep), and newbie Jason Hyslop, a space-occupying lesion on the board, similar to a Edward “Teddy” Reville (drowsy-dog; and his name is not “Teddy”). So out of 9 seats on the school board, 6 are now occupied by teachers or member married to a teacher, or teacher tools (Brown & Hyslop). Can you tell where this board is heading? Does Latter’s wife or Miller’s wife get the principal’s position they’ve been hankering for but never got because they’re incompetent?

Well, back to the Notice of Claim… (Click here to read it in it’s entirety: Polyak Notice of Claim polyak_redacted; see also Village of Ravena, Town of Coeymans Police Department Served with Notices of Claim).

For six years Mr John Vadney and his colleagues on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District board of education fought against the teachers clique on that school board to redirect attention from the administrators’ and teachers’ pockets to student safety and education.  While the teachers clique had the majority on the board under the closet guidance of the teachers union, New York State Teachers United (NYSUT) and its local representative, Matthew J. Miller, a high-school science teacher, who at the time was double-dipping to the tune of $18,000 a year from the school budget and on a reduced teaching load (and still is) so that he could (and still can) do his union work on the school budget tab, members James Latter, Alice Whalen, Howard Engel, and previously Gerald Deluca and Cathy Deluca (subsequently voted off the board) saw to it that the teachers and administrators were well taken care of while graduation rates in the RCS high-school plummeted and school violence thrived.

Once the non-teachers were voted into the majority, positive things started to happen in the RCS school district and Mr John Vadney and his team were able to make considerable progress in getting rid of the incompetent local teachers’ choice superintendent Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith and hiring Dr Allen R. McCartney to come in and clean things up. Matthew Miller and the teachers clique vehemently opposed McCartney’s hire but were overruled by those with the best interests of the district, Vadney, Robbins, Sylvester, Krzykowsky, and Lukens.

Total lies; total business as usual for the teachers union and the teachers clique.

dirty little lies

The teachers clique and their moles on the Coeymans police department (Gregory Darlington, Kerry Thompson (Darlington’s brother-in-law, and Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca) attempted everything to discredit the non-teachers on the board of education from framing the then board president, John Vadney, to intimidating Jeff Lukens when he came to his son’s defense (as any father would do), to libeling and slandering Rodney Krzykowski for exercising his civil rights, to even inciting bullyism or retaliation on the children of board members. Readers will certainly recall how one student thug ambushed and injured Mr Vadney’s son as he entered the high-school—but that was kept neatly under wraps and, when Vadney’s wife filed a Notice of Claim for the incident, the “Friends of RCS” the teachers clique electioneering arm, the Delucas, Mary Partridge-Brown (wife of lawyer Patrick Brown, now a RCS board of education member) spread the misinformation that Vadney was suing the school district. Total lies; total business as usual for the teachers union and the teachers clique. For the “Fiends of RCS” if it’s illegal or immoral or unethical, it’s OK. And they were elected to the majority on the board of education and promptly took full credit for all the good that Vadney, Sylvester, Robbins, Krzykowski, and Lukens were able to get jump started—such as improving the graduation rates and getting school safety underway, complying with state mandates for anti-bullying programs and training, etc., financial responsibility, accountability, and transparency — all opposed by the teachers clique, James Latter, Alice Whalen, Howard Engel, Edward “TeddyReville, on the board and now joined by Patrick Brown (that is, Matthew Miller and NYSUT) and James Hyslop!

prevent child abuseThe Vadney board was student-centered, not teacher-centered as it is now. The Vadney board focused on keeping students on track, and above all, safe! But the teachers clique, getting more and more defensive and desperate as time went on, unanimously opposed anything the non-teachers proposed, And it’s not as if no one ever heard of the bullying in the RCS schools or of the Dignity Act passed by the NYS legislature in order to make school personnel accountable and responsible for preventing bullying. Anyone with two eyes to see with and two ears to hear with couldn’t possibly have avoided the regular pleas of Mr Laszlo POLYAK at almost every RCS board of education meeting pleading with the superintendent, the teachers, the administrators to do something about the violence in the schools. Mr Polyak was a regular speaker addressing the superintendent and the board asking when they were going to comply with the requirements of the Dignity Act (principals and school administrators were dragging their feet when required to start-up training programs and enforcement of the Act in the RCS schools).

And then Mr Polyak’s own daughter is brutalized during a recess period while supposedly under the supervision of an aid. And she was attacked and injured by a well-known offender who was known to have done the very same thing a number of times in the past!

So, readers, when gentle, then in-your-face New-York-style persuasion doesn’t work and you’re ignored, your child is injured, it’s time to take some serious in-your-face New-York-style legal steps. And that’s what Mr Polyak was forced to do when he filed his Notice of Claim. The violence in our schools must stop and if it takes a $10 million lawsuit to do it, What the hey! Go for it if it’s the only think this school district understands (besides its $10 million the teachers union and the crooks in the school system won’t get their dirty hands on!)

The Vadney Board made it happen and got the wheels rolling but the Vadney board didn’t have enforcement powers in the schools, the administrators, teachers and principals had that. Nor did the board have police power or the authority to compel the local police, the Coeymans Police Department, to do their job and get proactive in terms of prevention of the violence and enforcing or collaborating (with what?) in compliance with the Dignity Act! If the RCS schools were non-compliant, slow to implement the procedures, indifferent to the violence, the Coeymans Police were just as guilty. Some of the duties of the town of Coeymans Police chief Gregory Darlington, according to his job description, are:

  • Administers and directs the operation of the police department;
  • Recommends organizational changes to the Town Board and directs necessary procedural changes;
  • Keeps Town Board abreast of major developments in law enforcement that affect department activities;
  • Represents the department at conferences and meetings;
  • Thorough knowledge of New York State Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law and all local laws and ordinances, regulations pertaining to police work.

Now we don’t think it’s stretching it when we ask: When the Coeymans Police Department has to respond to student-on-student violence, kids with guns in the trunk of their cars in the school parking lot, suicide attempts on school property, known bullying, coaches’ abuse of athletes and parents, violations of FERPA confidentiality (right James Latter?), reports of kids being denied boarding school buses and having to walk along Route 9W to get home, etc. wouldn’t you think the police chief would wake up and smell the coffee—the blood? Wouldn’t you think that the police chief would take the initiative and get proactive with acknowledging the problem? Wouldn’t you think the police chief would reach out to the board of education, to the school district with a plan? Wouldn’t you think the police chief would make an appearance at school board meetings to reassure the public that the problem is a priority for the local police? Maybe. But not in the Coeymans Police Department and not with police chief Gregory “DoDo cop” Darlington. And not with Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca lurking and, together with teacher/union rep Matthew “Matt-the-Mutt” Miller,  harassing local women at BoE meetings.

DUH! Wadda I do? The Coeymans PD's Response

DUH! Wadda I do?
The Coeymans PD’s Response

So the Coeymans Police Department is included in the recent Notice of Claim and rightly so.  If the Coeymans Police Department would act more like a community public service  organization rather than a Gestapo police state band of thugs hell-bent on retaliation, intimidation, and violation of protected civil rights, maybe the Coeymans Police Department and its police chief could avoid being named in lawsuits. Nah! That would require a Coeymans Town Board that did its job, that is, supervise the Coeymans Police Department and it’s police chief, Gregory Darlington, and do some disciplining where needed. But then, if the Town Board started coming down on the Coeymans Police Department, the board members and their families wouldn’t get special consideration and treatment, the felonies and misdemeanors wouldn’t disappear, would they?

So what’s the deal Coeymans town supervisor Stephen Flach, board members Peter Masti, Thomas Boehm, Thomas Dolan, Dawn Rogers? When are you going to start doing your jobs and ensuring the Coeymans Police Department and its wimpy chief, Gregory Darlington, are doing their jobs, or else?

Mayor John Bruno and councilwoman Nancy Warner are too busy harassing the Teen Center and bitching about kids congregating around the Pulver Street gazebo

dirty tricksAnd then there’s the village of Ravena. The RCS middle and high school are in the jurisdiction of the village of Ravena, aren’t they? So what’s mayor John Bruno and village of Ravena councilpersons Nancy Warner, Martin Case (himself a teacher at the high school!), Rocco Persico (a school psychologist at the high school!) or William Bailey doing while all of this is going on? ANSWER: Not a damned thing! CORRECTION: They’re too busy whining about their water treatment and sewer bills from the town of Coeymans. Mayor John Bruno and councilwoman Nancy Warner are too busy harassing the Teen Center and bitching about kids congregating around the Pulver Street gazebo; they’re too busy cruising the gazebo at weird hours of the nite and getting the Coeymans police in a feeding frenzy over the “No Loitering” law (the subject of another Notice of Claim because the law is unconstitutional and unenforceable!). That’s the extent of the village of Ravena’s response to the violence!

See the recent article (click on the link):  Village of Ravena, Town of Coeymans Police Department Served with Notices of Claim.

More parents should take control and follow Mr Polyak’s lead

We have already provided a link to the complete Notice of Claim served on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District and the Coeymans Police Department. If you’re interested in reading it, just click on the link above. We’ve redacted the minor student’s name from the NoC but it’s in all other respects complete as filed. More parents should take control and follow Mr Polyak’s lead. Maybe then the RCS CSD, the town of Coeymans, the Coeymans Police Department, and the village of Ravena will take these important matters more seriously.

BoBo Cop’s Big Bust

Welcome! JLuck of Chatham, old neighbor lurker!
Instead of lurking, you should leave a comment!
Support your good buddy, Dumbluca!

Coeyman’s Police Department’s Own BoBo Cop, Gerald “Dirty Hands Jerry” Deluca Makes a Major Bust and Ruins a Kid’s Life.

You GO! BoBo!

You GO! BoBo!
(As reported in the
Dec. 17, 2012, Ravena News Herald)

We just had to post this. It’s so typical of the super dodos and bobos in the Coeymans Police Department. Here’s 300 lb BoBo Cop responding to a stupid 13 year old kid playing phone pranks from the RCS Middle School, no less (Earth to teachers, where are you?). So what does BoBo Deluca (a.k.a. in the Coeymans P.D. as “Dumbluca“)? He arrests the kid on criminal charges! Now that’s some real criminal investigation and police work.

BoBo Cop Jerry Deluca LeadsCoeymans Dodos in Arrest of Desperate Criminal.

BoBo Cop Jerry Deluca Leads
Coeymans Dodos in Arrest of Desperate Criminal.
(Your Tax Dollars Working for You!)

So our bloated BoBo crimestopper moves his fat ass to apprehend and charge a jerky-boy (we’re assuming its a male) teenager who gets his rocks off making prank telephone calls from school (Repeat: Earth to teachers: Where are you?). Seriously, who are the adults calling the cops on some teen dorkus? And then to take the kid into custody…wouldn’t that have been enought to scare the shite out of him/her…and have the parents pick the kid up after a good lecture? No. Of course not! Arrest the kid, arraign the kid, and give him a record. Nice going, BoBo. Yeah! We know, “It’s all for the kids!” We’ve heard you oinking that line too many times before!

(By the way, how’s Tom Dolan’s boy doing?
Ever been charged, arrested? Didn’t think so!)

My final question, I guess, would be: If this terrible criminal was perpetrating his horrible acts at the RCS Middle School, where in hell were the teachers and teachers’ aides at the time?  Don’t you parents think that if your minor child is at school that the teachers and teachers’ aids have some accountability and responsibility for misconduct that happens on school property on their watch? Maybe the school principal and the teacher and teachers’ aides who were supposed to be keeping an eye on the kid at the time (just check the time the calls were made and where the kid was supposed to be at the time) should be dragged into court with the parent? Don’t the principal, the teachers, the teachers’ aides, the RCS district have some accountability in this incident? Answer: YES!

That’s just another reason why:

  • We need to start holding teachers accountable for what they don’t do and
  • We need to get rid of the Coeymans P.D. and its BoBos and DoDos.

בס”ד

Greed, Corruption, Denial, Coeymanazis…Actually, Simplemindedness May Be the Real Key to RCS’s Decline.

Claudia Verga “Sillystringed”
Model of Adult Behavior
A.W. Becker Elementary School Principal

Are You Still Wondering That Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Is a Losers Club as a Community and as a District? Read on…

In my day, the school principal was a person who represented authority, was an important role model for students and even teachers, was a source of socialization. But that was before everyone and anyone could do anything and everything because everyone and anyone is his or her own person. And if it feels good you can do it. Look where that bullshit has gotten us as persons, families, communities, as a nation. Right down the crapper!

Note the Principal’s Defensive Posture!
Note the Aggression in the Children!
A Great Lesson…

So, I wasn’t all that surprised to have learned and read of the local principal who made a mockery of herself and became the incarnation of the stupid adult we have today. Where was that? At RCS A.W. Becker where principal Claudia Verga made herself the object of elementary school pupil’s disrespect and aggression by allowing herself to be publicly… SILLYSTRINGED!

A Parent’s Plea…Help Me! My Child’s Been Bullied

Warning: We are not attorneys. We are not offering legal advice. We ae providing good faith information.

Parents Can Come Out Kicking and Punching Now. You Don’t Have to be Afraid Anymore!
If They Retaliate, Sue Them and Take Their Jobs!

The New York State Anti-Bullying Law, the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), Went Into Full Effect on July 1, 2012.
The Law Now Makes Teachers, Principals, Administrators, School Districts Responsible and Liable for Acts of Bullying that Take Place on School Property or in the Context of School Activities. Now, In Addition to their Civil Liabilities for the Welfare of School Children, the Law Makes the Schools Co-Liable for Bullying of Students on Students,  or Teachers, TA’s, or Coaches on Students. But It’s Up to YOU, It’s YOUR Responsibility as Parents, to be Proactive and Public in Protecting Your Children!

Make the School District Accountable
It’s the Law Now!

We just received another request from a concerned RCS parent with a child or children in the RCS schools who writes [names redacted to protect the individual’s identity and to ensure confidentiality]:

The Parent’s Plea:

“Hello Im another concerned parent of RCS children …I was hoping you assist me. Simply what I am Looking for is…What lawyer is representing the [redacted] family in their suit against the RCS district? I ask since I am in the process of seeking my own legal advice for bullying. If you don’t know or feel uncomfortable disclosing that information hopefully you can suggest an attorney who isn’t so-called “corrupted”.
“Also would you be able to direct me to any other possible resources out there that may be able to help me?
“I have followed the “chain of command” regarding the bullying since October 2011, teacher- guidance – principal – superintendent – CSE – teacher- principal -superintendent &  recently a email to the board (no replies to the email).
“Simply put .. I’m at a large brick wall of a dead end- and need direction, to insure the safety of my child.”

Our Response:

Your original message was forwarded to us by one of our contributors whom you contacted with your request but did not have the information you needed. We hope we can offer you some help in this response.

No child deserves to be hurt socially, emotionally or psychologically, least of all in our schools!

First of all, any concerned parent would be well advised to seek out other concerned parents and to join together to seek representation as a group. First of all, a group has more backbone to pursue such a campaign, there’s “power in numbers.” Secondly, in a group, you can all share your experiences and establish a pattern of abuse and indifference by the administration, essential probative items for a good case. Thirdly, in a group you can share not only stories but also expenses. Getting individual representation might be difficult but if a group of you approach an attorney, s/he’ll have a better feel for the situation and can put together a better strategy. Fourthly, the District would be more intimidated and more prone to settle if confronted by a group of parents represented by an attorney who is ready to kick ass.

One of the problems you parents who contact us have is that you say you want to protect your children but are willing only to go half way. You want to do what you’ve been doing for years–not only you but so many others–creeping around in the shadows, trying to stay invisible, yet saying you want to stop the bullying or solve the problems. But you’ve got to stand up and come out into the light to do that.

You parents are not going to get anything done by skulking around in the shadows, not wanting your names mentioned, not wanting to tell your stories to the public, wanting to assert your rights but wanting also for someone else to carry the load for you. Sorry, that doesn’t work.

Individually, your lovely school district is going to eat you up one-by-one when you come with your complaint. You think your tax dollars are going to the children in your schools, do you? Just wait until you have an issue with the school district, that same school district who is always telling the voters, “We’re here for the kids.” But not your kids. You may have already experienced how concerned they are for the kids: did you get any response to your complaints or inquiries about the incidents you are talking about? Probably not. The RCS CSD turns into an entirely different animal when it comes to having to deal with a problem, especially when it might make them look bad. And it’s an ugly beast when it comes to responding to a complaint about a child’s welfare in the schools; that really makes them look bad. Don’t you think you should be telling the world about that?

It’s usually very unlikely that the District will respond to e-mails, they’re too dangerous. But what I do and always suggest first and foremost is that you document everything in writing in a notebook or some other way as soon as possible after an event or incident or contact. That’s very important when it comes to evidence and any hearings or court appearances. If it’s written down as soon as possible after it happens it’s 1000x better than plain old memory. Second, put all your requests into letter form, clearly stating the problem (no emotions, just the facts, please), times, dates, names, and what you want answered. Always include a reasonable request for something to be done that will make you happy or satisfy you. Then mail it to the school principal, the RCS CSD superintendent, and to the president of the board of education. Send the copy to the RCS CSD superintendent by certified mail, return receipt requested. Then you have proof you made the inquiry, proof they received it, and then proof they didn’t bother to respond.

As for sharing information about someone else’s representation or case, I’m afraid I”m not in the position to to do that. But what I would suggest is that you call the individual or drop by that individual’s home, they’re very welcoming and helpful, and talk to them about your needs and concerns. Talking directly to persons with similar problems is immensely helpful and healing. It’s worked well with many types of problems.

If you still want to go at it alone, I would suggest you contact the New York State Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service at 1 (800) 342-3661 lr@nysba.org, or Department for Children, Youth and Families Programs & Services at the Child Protective Services (CPS) Hotline: 1 (800) 342-3720, tell them what you need, a ask for a recommendation for assistance in moving forward with your case.

I’d also suggest that you get out of that Democrat cesspool of political party machinery and give Pete Lopez, your NYS Assemblyman for the 127nd Assembly District (but running for the newly formed 102nd district that includes Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, New Baltimore are part of his district), tell him about the problems you’re having, about the response you’re getting from the District, ask for his help. Tell him this bullying problem is big here and obviously big everywhere if the legislatures of a large number of states have actually passed laws like the the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA),  New York’s “Dignity Act“! That’s why he’s there. Besides, if you hadn’t already heard, it’s an election year and the candidates will be chomping at the bit for sensitive issues to toy with.” In fact, call everyone who’s running and not part of the local political machine (that would exclude Tom Dolan who has done NOTHING with regard to helping parents with the bullying problem–he’s part of the political gang that’s part of the problem!). And you haven’t heard a peep out of the Delucas, the Bartletts, the Whalens, Engels, Revilles, Latters, Misuracas, Leput-Hommels or any of the other Coeymanazi bunch about the bullying problem. Of course not! They’re part of the system and you don’t buck your own system. And besides, they’re all out doing something ultra-important: collecting bottles. Do you get it? If it’s easy and gets them brownie points they’ll do it; if it involves getting their hands dirty and being prophets, Forget it! Just give them glory and they’ll love you for it but don’t expect much in return.

So, what I’d recommend first of all is to find like-minded allies, especially parents whose children were bullied in the past and may have graduated or left the RCS school district. They may be very willing to step out with you. Then, contact parents with children still in the RCS school district and get together, explaining how important it is to join up and step out. You’ll get nothing done if you and others like you keep hiding. You’ll never be able to say that you actually did sometihing to protect your children and some day they might actually ask you, “Why didn’t you, mom, dad? What will you answer?

Of course I will respect your request to keep our conversations private but I would also ask you to please continue to keep us updated on what you are doing and how it’s working for you. It helps us to help others in your situation or in similar situations to know how our advice is working for them.

Good luck!
The Editor, Smalbany

Teacher- and Coach-on-Student Bully

Keep in mind the types of bullying that go on in our schools includes student-on-student, teacher-on-student, coach-on-student (sometimes even teacher-on-teacher, and student-on-teacher, believe it or not)! We can talk about various types of bullying that often appear simultaneously:

  • Physical: pushing, kicking, assault with objects, etc. It occurs more frequently in primary than in secondary. But don’t be led astray by this generalization, as student’s get older, physical abuse becomes more covert, more calculated, more dangerous and symptomatic of bigger problems ahead! Research shows that bully teachers and coaches have a history of being bullied. There’s also evidence of a bullied-connection withviolent, sociopathic behavior in adults.
  • Verbal abuse and name-calling, slurs in public, highlighting physical defects, etc.. It is the most common and can leave very deep scars. Words do harm and harm deeply.  Teachers be especially aware of this in yourselves.
  • Psychological: undermine the individual’s self-esteem and foster their sense of fear. The psychological harm is really a common feature of any bullying but it is a standalone form of bullying, too.
  • Social: attempts to isolate the members of other groups, or to exclude certain persons or classmate as members of a group. Scarring. Can produce problems further down the road in the young adult and the mature adult (true for all of the bullying types!).

So, In Summary, Our Advice Is:

  • You need to be parents to your children. That’s more than just providing them with a cellphone, junk food, and a ride to the mall! You need to be a positive role model, a source of nurture and protection. Not a friend, a parent!
  • Have open, honest dialogue with your children about the reality of bullying and that there is a law against it.
  • Encourage your children to bring their concerns to you immediately, not to wait, not to be afraid.
  • Get names of other children who have been bullied (your own children will probably be the best sources for this information, believe it or not). Kids see and hear a lot at the school and that makes them great sources of information. Contact the parents of other children who have been bullied or abused in your district. Get together to form an action committee. There’s power in numbers and the more people you have with similar experiences, the more credible your own case. This will become very important later at hearings or in court!
  • Document all incidents, conversations, contacts, etc. in a written record with dates, times, incendent description, names of those involved, names of those contacted, outcome (always with dates and times!).
  • Confront principals, administrators, superintendent, board of education immediately with your concerns. Don’t wait! They’ll use that against you! And do it in writing(not by e-mail), and what you expect to be done to fix the situation. The best way is a copy of the letter of notice or inquiry to each of the levels (principal, administrators, superintendent, BoE) with the copy to the superintent by certified mail, return receipt requested. Remember: Stick to the facts, admit nothing, don’t get emotional, assume you are always the victim! Don’t let them use anything against you later! Don’t believe any promises! Get it in writing!
  • Follow up on each of your inquiries or complaints by telephone call (note date, time, who spoken to, and substance of the call), and then with a written confirmation of the follow-up and brief details of the conversation. Send a copy to the other party and to the superintendent.
  • If you still don’t get a response. Contact the local police, make a complaint. Send a copy of the complaint to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office referring to the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), send a copy to your Assemblyman and to your state Senator. Do this by regular mail, not by e-mail. You can follow up or confirm by e-mail and attach a scanned copy of the hard copy letter or complaint.
  • Contact the  New York State Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service at 1 (800) 342-3661 lr@nysba.org for a referral to an attorney specializing in lawsuits against school districts, even specializing in cases under the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Under the law you are entitled to an initial free consultation with an attorney. If s/she decides to take the case, get him or her to provide you with a written letter of representation that states the approximate cost of the case in fees etc. and the approximate length of time s/he expects the case to take to resolution. Do not ask for promises that you will win; that’s unreasonable.
  • From that point on, let the attorney do his/her magic, but follow-up regularly, never trust or think that they’re on top of it, they’re probably not and will likely need some high-voltage prodding to get them to move their asses. Stay out of the way but stay informed!
  • Be  active! Be very active! It’s your children at risk, not theirs. Your children will thank you some day…or curse you if you’don’t act now!

Not on my lawn and
DEFINITELY NOT ON MY KIDS!

A Letter to the RCS Board of Education

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog NOW!

We Have Received A Letter From A Resident Reflecting Some Thoughts On the Board’s Actions.
We thought you’d like to see it.

Mr Lukens:

You brought up a very good point at the July 24th BoE meeting when you asked for numbers of players, ancillary staff, coaches, etc. That information is needed to really evaluate the requirements and to eliminate the nepotism, graft, waste, etc. that is rampant in this school district and to get a handle on better managing the almost autonomous athletic activities in the RCS CSD.

I would recommend also that you obtain the same figures from surrounding school districts such as Bethlehem, Coxsackie, even from Catskill, etc.

The regional BOCES must have some figures and if they do not, they should! A lot of taxpayer money goes into sports and athletics as well as the additional moneys paid out by parents for extra activities not covered by school budget resources. That’s yet another reason why tighter controls must be enforced on the RCS Sports or Athletic Associations, and why they must be called to task to report to the BoE as the representative of the taxpayers and parents. No excuses. Transparency!

The new BoE is making a great impression. It’s finally putting its foot down and not accepting the status quo. Obviously, it’s pissing a lot of people off–mostly those who have something to hide–and you can expect that they’re doing their dirty work behind the scenes but we can only hope that the good people of this RCS district and of this RCS community can see the good that is going to come from tighter controls, and forcing the crooks to fess up, while ensuring that anyone operating any activity in the schools, on school property, involving students, or even giving the impression that they are operating for or on behalf of the RCS schools must be held accountable and must provide proper credentials.

In addition, I would further recommend that the BoE pass a resolution requiring any and all persons involved in activities in the schools, on school grounds and properties, having contact with students, or supervising activities be required to participate in recognized training programs that focus on recognizing, reporting, and preventing abuse, whether sexual or bullying, and that any such training be made a part of the official record.

Once again, thank you and your non-teachers-clique colleagues for having the guts, the courage to stand up to the weasels on the board of education and in the community, and to do what’s right, what’s in the public’s interest, what’s in the long-term best interests of the children in the care, custody, and under the supervision of the schools.

Please share this message with your fellow board members.

Atheist Teachers, Criminal Athletic Association, Neonazi Students

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog NOW!

Atheist Teachers, Criminal Athletic Association, Neonazi Students…Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School Has It ALL!

Bully Assault & Battery at
RCS High School

With the New York State Dignity Act, an important anti-bullying law going into effect this month, it is baffling, especially in view of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk schools’ very poor record in curtailing and preventing school bullying –teacher-on-student, teacher-on-teacher, and student-on-student bullying– how it is possible that a particularly brutal attack could happen in the RCS high school only last week!

Here’s what happened and what was caught on video:

A male ninth-grade student is attempting to pass through a door. Another male student appears to be making way for the first student to pass but then jumps the first student from behind. The attacker brutally hits the first student in the head and then claws his neck, leaving numerous lacerations and fingernail marks on the first student’s neck.

The first student was able to free himself from the attacker’s grip but not without injuries.

The entire incident was caught on video tape. The parents of the injured student demanded that the New York State Police be called; the Coeymans Police responded but were allegedly sent away by the school principal, who was instructed by the parents to allow only the State Police to investigate.

Because of fears of retaliation against the injured student that were expected on the basis of previous bullying incidents at the high school, several of which were directly attributed to the instigation of teachers having made imprudent and inappropriate remarks relating to a student, the parent of the injured student had earlier called the school to advise administration and teachers to be vigilant that day. A lot of good that precaution did!

We have previously reported on the bullying problems at the RCS high school, the reports of a teacher, Matt Miller, proclaiming himself to students to be an atheist when not reciting the “one nation under God” part of the pledge of allegiance (see  “One Nation Under God”…Maybe not.)  (Miller is president of the RCS teachers association/union), two teachers at least are known to have made inappropriate remarks about students or student’s family members which led directly to bullying incidents (see Stop the Presses…EXTRA! Bully Gangs at RCS and  Real Bullying at School is By the Teachers), school administration has either been slow to respond or totally non-responsive to incidents, including even a gun on school grounds (see Gun at School & Budget Vote Irregularities…Did you see… ), and the attacker in the most recent incident, a 15-year-old minor and resident of the Ravena community, Oakbrook Manor, is a self-proclaimed neo-nazi!

Because the attacker is a minor, the New York State Police have allegedly informed the parents of the injured student that no charges can be made against the attacking student! This was clearly a premeditated violent assault and battery on another student without provocation whatsoever! What’s this shite about not being able to charge the attacker? That’s utter nonsense! Charge the juvenile criminal and do it now or expect to see more bold attacks…and more lawsuits, including criminal charges against administrators and teachers! (On top of everything else, the RCS district is plagued with a corrupt and tainted police department and a serious retaliation problem. See Corrupt Coeymans Police Effectiveness Compromised!!!, Can You Explain This, Jerry?, This Is Your Town, Coeymans! Do you like it?).

Teachers are mandated reporters of such violence under the Dignity Act but at RCS they’re involved with the bullying! Many of the teachers don’t have the brains or the training to know the difference between opening their mouths and letting crap fly out and keeping their manure chutes shut!

And Brian Bailey, principal of the RCS high school, allegedly responds that he “Will take care of it [?]” (RCS has a record of non-response (see Schools, Superintendent:  No Response to Allegations of Bullying…)  Idiots! Brian Bailey is barely able to cross the street unassisted (see INCREDIBLE!!!)…what in hell is he going to do about this violent assault and battery on a student on school grounds? A neo-nazi, no less! Bailey can’t even be relied on to implement emergency security procedures when there’s a gun on school grounds! Who cares WHY the gun’s there! It’s there! You ask WHY? after you implement the security procedures, you DORK!

If school violence is not enough for your tax dollars, RCS residents and taxpayers, we also have our greedy little friend Matt Miller double-dipping and getting a stipend on top of his teacher salary (see A Fable of a Swimming Pool and Acquatic Sports and other Horror Stories). We have a RCS Athletic Association that’s come under fire for alleged criminal activity like misrepresenting itself as a non-profit, failing to file the required tax disclosures, illegally misusing Association funds for political purposes (see Sports Scandal Quiz: RCS Sports Association? and James Latter). There’s also the sociopath wanabe teacher, Josephine O’Connor, who does a “He called me fat!” dance for voters (see Josephine O’Connor: A Role Model of Maturity and Mental Stability…NOT!) and then gets a village idiot, her estranged father, Joseph “Joe” Tracey,  to harass and intimidate and then to file a false charge against the president of the Board of Education, getting the innocent man arrested! (see This Is Your Town, Coeymans! Criminals Gone Wild, Part II) And then we have the reall perp and pervs, over and above Josephine O’Connor, who go unscathed despite egregious violations of confidentiality in violation of the federal FERPA law, like James Latter  (see James Latter: Why Is He Still On the Board of Education?).

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District Recently Put to The Vote and Approved a $41,729,185 budget for the 2012-13 school year. While the proposed budget allegedly reduces spending by $708,681, or 1.7 percent compared with the current school year it increased the tax levy on property owning residents by an additional 6.8 percent! The final total was 1797 Yes votes to 1602 No votes (53 percent to 47 percent). The very close, almost a tie, provides a clear clue as to the sharp division in the community regarding this highly charged and controversial issue, not to mention the brutality and nastiness of the Yes! supporters in the campaigning leading to this vote. A large number of voting irregularities are currently under investigation by various authorities. (See More Irregularities in the Voting?, Gun at School & Budget Vote Irregularities…Did you see…,, Secret Meetings on Budget at Public School?)

Your Tax Dollars Working For You and Your Children!

Bullies are Pussies!
