News in Briefs: What does this tell you?

This is a story where we’ll let the pictures do all the talking!

UPDATE: Since this article was posted, the Bruno group has attempted to paint over the “ASS H…” on the sign. I hasn’t worked. You can still read it. Sorry, Joe. Just like your ticket, usless!

news-in-briefs

Do We really have to fill in the blank for you?

Do We really have to fill in the blank for you?

While we do not condone campaign sign vandalism, one Ravena resident was very clear in his/her opinion of the Bruno-Persico-Case ticket! (Can you fill in the missing letters?)

Bruno-Case-Persico campaign signs peppering (just lightly, though) Ravena tell voters to “Vote Row A“. Any ideas what the “A” stands for? (Hint: Please refer to the sign on the left.)

Here’s the clincher: both of these signs, including the “annotated” one, are on the corner of Russell Avenue and Main Street in Ravena, within a couple of hundred feet of the Coeymans police station in Coeymans town hall! What does that tell you about the efficiency and attention level of Coeymans’ finest? Answer: DUH!!!!

Seems Ravena Mayor John Bruno and his flying monkeys can monitor and videotape everying going on in and around the Ravena village offices but can’t keep factual comments off of their campaign signs. Same is true of Coeymans police chief Gregory “DoDo Cop” Darlington, who has cameras everywhere in and around Coeymans town hall but can’t prevent vandalism a couple of feet down the street! What a bunch of clowns!

CLOWNS SAY: VOTE ROW "A"/

ONLY CLOWNS SAY:
VOTE ROW “A”

Well, it doesn’t get much better than this!

MOOSE POWER! Misuraca Moose Blanket Ravena!

What a Great Idea! Mayor Moose! Driving Through the
Village of Ravena and the Environs We were Entertained by
Moose Everywhere with
“Mayor” in Bright Yellow Painted on Their Sides!

Ravena Welcomes Mayor Moose! A Great Way to Start a Winning Campaign

Ravena Welcomes Mayor Moose!
A Great Way to Start a Winning Campaign

The William “Moose” Misuraca campaign has gotten off to a great start, judging by the number of Misuraca Mayor Moose we’ve been seeing in Ravena and in the surrounding area. If the imagination and care that went into creating these really fun and appealing campaign signs is any indication of what the Misuraca team of Bill “Moose” Misuraca, Keith Mahler and Joel Coye are offering the village of Ravena, Ravena is in for a real revitalization when they take over Ravena Village Hall in March.

Compare Mayor Moose with the Worn and Shabby Bruno Mob…

Even the Bruno-Case-Persio Signs are Shabby, Worn, Bland! Just like the shabby, worn, bland promises of the Bruno bunch.

Even the Bruno-Case-Persio Signs are Shabby, Worn, Bland!
Just like the shabby, worn, bland promises of the Bruno bunch.

We haven’t come across many Bruno-Case-Persico signs but the ones we have found are shabby, worn, and bland. Just like Bruno, Case, and Persico and their empty, pitiful promises. Promises to continue doing nothing but serving themselves and their cronies at Ravena residents’ expense. Hell! Even the snow around the signs is dirty! What does that tell you about the candidates?

What we found to be really ironic and really characterless—just like the Bruno-Case-Persico candidates, no character, no taste—is that the sign above is placed on an empty lot (like so much in Ravena under Bruno, EMPTY, and like his promises, EMPTY). But what’s even worse, the sign is placed right opposite the RCS Community Library! Yes, neighbors! Right across from the very library so brutally abused and misused by the Ravena mayor John “Black Mamba’ Bruno—a name he got by nearly destroying the cement plant when he worked there, and a name he deserves because of his venom, just like the poisonous black mamba snake—and so-called teacher Martin “Marty” Case and school psychologist Rocco Persico. That tells you a lot about these rotten apples: They abused and misused the RCS Community Library, even raised its rent more than $600 a month (paid by taxpayers!) in order to put in Cathy Deluca’s playpen, the illegal and failing Ravena Health and Fitness Center, and now the bastids want to take advantage of the traffic going to and from the library. Now how underhanded, slippery, and sleazy can they get? The must be getting desperate! Hold on! Did we say “getting“?

We like Misuraca because he talks like a real person. Take one of his public statements recently:

“I am hoping with the help of some of you folks and other members of the community to restore the village, to return it to some of its former prosperity and community pride that we have seen in the past. I think a lot of us have lived here enough time to have seen that.”

And Bill “Moose” Misuraca makes the public commitment:

“There are a lot of things that we can do. I hope to have your help because it is all very new to me. I promise I’ll do my best to represent the party and everyone who lives in the village and the town.”

Be clear on one point, Moose: You may want to “represent the party and everyone who lives in the village.” You might not be able to do both, so be careful what you say. We’re listening. You just do your best to represent residents and voters. You don’t represent the party; you represent those who vote for you. We may yet ask you what the Repubican party is, when was it founded, by whom. What is the Republican party mission? Would you be able to answer those questions? Can you tell us what the Republican Party is doing for the residents of Ravena? Likely you wouldn’t have many answers, and even if you did, they wouldn’t matter. Our advice for now is: “Screw the party. Serve the people.”

But we want to know more. And make no mistake, Moose, if you’re going to be making statements like that. If you want to be Ravena’s mayor, you’re going to have to get down and make some very impressive and specific, clear commitments. Statements that we can call you on later if you forget what you said. Here’s what we’d like to see in the next couple of weeks:

First, an exclusive interview by the Ravena News Herald asking specific questions about specific and real issues of concern to the village of Ravena residents and to the town of Coeymans. Yes, we want you to tell us what your plan is for collaborating with the town of Coeymans, too. Especially, what do you plan to do to improve relations with the town of Coeymans and the hamlet of Coeymans?

Secondly, we want you to announce very soon a meet the candidates open house in the next couple of weeks. You have the ideal situation: Pick a day when most Ravena residents are home and not at work and open the Halfway House Tavern for the afternoon and early evening, inviting Ravena residents to come in have a snack on the house, and the opportunity to sit down individually, face to face, one on one, with the candidates. Residents and candidates, together, informally having a chat about real issues, like water billing, DEC fines, open government, youth and teen affairs, accountability and transparency in local government, avoiding conflicts of interes and special interest groups interference in government, the problem of patronage and favoritism in Ravena government, village revitalization. Residents name it and put it on the table, you and Joel and Keith answer.

It's What Elects You.

It’s What Elects You.

At your meet the candidate open house we’d also recommend having question cards or sheets for residents to write down their concerns and what they’d like done in Ravena. They’d have the opportunity to ask anonymously or, if they provide their contact details, you and the other candidates would guarantee a personal response before the elections. How’s that for a change?

Youth and teens in Ravena-Coeymans have gotten the dirty end of the stick in recent years. We’d like to know specifically what you and your fellow candidates plan to do for youth and teens in Ravena.

We also want to know what you plan to do about the many recent Notices of Claim filed against the Village of Ravena, several of which specifically relate to Cathy Deluca and the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, and her violation of protected civil and constitutional rights, her alleged falsely reporting an incident, obstruction of justice and conspiracy, as well as myriad other Notices of Claim that are still capable of becoming embarassing and expensive lawsuits. The Bruno administration’s standard procedure is to ignore them, hoping they’ll go away. They won’t. We guarantee that.

We’d also like to know how you intend to sanitize Ravena village hall, getting rid of the dead wood (the job-givaways), the crooks (well, once you beat Bruno, the rats will abandon ship, hoping to escape prosecution) and, of course the illegal money pits (the Ravena Health and Fitness Center) and the illegal “civil service” leeches (like Cathy Deluca) who have already gotten the village of Ravena into a heap-o-trouble.

Finally, and something that’s been on all our minds for several years now is: How do your plan to stop the hemorrhaging of families and businesses from the village of Ravena and the surrounding area? What is your idea for inaugurating the revitalization of Ravena over the long-term? We know that the present Bruno regime has put Nancy Biscone-Warner and Cathy Deluca in charge of putting together a handful of bandaid events, calling them revitalization, but we want to know if you have a plan, not a cookout and a health fair, a PLAN, something that will really have a gradual, continuous, positive long-term effect on Ravena. We’re not talking necessarily about so-called “growth and development”, the kind of stuff that destroys the character and charm that could be Ravena—under real, committed and visionary leadership, but a shot in the arm to once again make Ravena a lovely, charming, attractive village on the Hudson.

We’d like to call for the same from incumbent Ravena mayor John “Black Mamba” Bruno—and we’ll be in the front row with our list—to do the same. Yeah! Like that’s gonna happen…

That, Mayor Moose, is what’s going to sell you and your team. That’s what’s going to confront you when you take office. But that’s what we want to know NOW!

We have a good gut feeling, Moose, that you’re a great candidate and will make a great mayor of Ravena. We think you’re up to the task. We think you can take the challenge. All we ask is that you confide in us and give us something solid to hold onto, not the same vomit that Bruno, Case, and Persico have delivered since Day 1, and continue to deliver. Give Ravena Real reason to HOPE, Moose!

A Family Incident Leads to Political Questions: What’s the deal?

Does a Misunderstanding Between Two Brothers About An Alleged Illegality Tell Us Something About the Candidate…And the Potential Conflicts of Interest and Interference by the Candidate’s Wife?

Family Incident Sends Up the Red Flags!!!

Family Incident Sends Up the Red Flags for Ravena Voters!!!

A real-life incident between Dom Misuraca, brother of Bill “Moose” Misuraca, the Republican Candidate for Mayor of Ravena, may tell volumes of what Ravena residents can expect if Mr Misuraca is elected, and should send up red flags about the possible conflicts of interest and interference that may be caused by Misuraca’s wife, Jena Misuraca, with possible effects of abuse of public office. Here’s the scenario straight from the brother’s mouth:

The Brother, Dom Misuraca, of Republican Ravena Mayoral Candidate Bill “Moose” Misuraca, writes in a recent response to a comment made by one of our readers:

Ill just say this to your assine reply to my comment:

1. The way he [Bill “Moose” Misuraca] makes a sandwich matters little in comparison to running a town [Ravena].

2. I did storm into the bar, as far as it being “no reason at all”, well you wouldnt know that I had just gotten off the phone with my crying mother….crying because he was blaming ME , as the person that reported the bar for HAVING UNTAXED WORKERS. While I do not condone off the book employees, I certainly did not report him…I am not only [the] person on his bad side.

The police were not necessary if he had only been able to COMMUNICATE WITH ME, instead of jumping to conclusions and allowing his wife [Jena Misuraca] to spread rumors. I certainly wouldnt have WASTED THE TAXPAYERS MONEY by calling the police….who , in TRUE RAVENA FASHION ,arrived in a pack of three.

3. HE IS NOT FULL OWNER OF NEITHER THE BAR nor PROPERTY. As partial owner of the property, i was within my rights to be there…i left to talk to the police outside ,away from nosey barflies…… It seems like it is YOU [one of our readers] who does not know the whole story,

[Response to comment made to the article The Buzz is Out: Bill “Moose” Misuraca will Challenge John “Black Mamba” Bruno in the Ravena Mayoral Race!!]

Although it sounds like a family matter, there are three points embedded in Dom Misuraca’s comment that are of significant interest to our readers, and raise questions about the mayoral candidate, Bill “Moose” Misuraca:

(1) The allegation that Bill “Moose” Misuraca and his wife Jena Misuraca were evading the law as regards workers/employee taxes. Not that financial mismanagement hasn’t been the hallmark of the John T. Bruno & Co. regime, this is a serious allegation, especially serious when it is made against someone who wants to be the chief financial officer of the Village of Ravena. We need to hear more about this allegation and maybe get some clarification.

(2) The apparent communication problem is also worrying. If someone can’t communicate appropriately on a serious matter, whether the allegation is true or untrue, and that person can’t respond to the allegation in a rational and sensible way, that is another serious problem for someone who wants to be the chief communicator of the Village of Ravena.

(3) Rumors have always been a problem in Ravena-Coeymans and have caused a lot of heartache to a lot of people. We mentioned in a previous post that we are concerned that Jena Misuraca may not respect boundaries if her husband, Bill Misuraca, is elected to be Ravena mayor. We base our concern on Jena’s many sometimes questionable participattion in local movements and the company she tends to keep. The RCS Sports Association with its Twilight Zone history of shabby bookkeeping and total lack of transparency, Jena’s involvement with certain groups involved in the schools (and we don’t mean the cookie-baking team), her outrageous political activism and partisanship relating to the RCS board of education, her questionable friendships with local renegade figures like Cathy and Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, and the list could go on. Jena simply doesn’t know when to mind her own business and to lay low, if necessary. Jena’s “individualism”, if you want to call it that, goes far beyond what we would like to see in the wife of the mayor of Ravena. In our opinion, there could be many conflicts of interest and problems created if Jena isn’t kept in her crate with her mouth shut.

(4) The coziness with elements of the Coeymanazi police department bothers us, too. All of the above concerns culminate in the fact that the Coeymans police were involved and our question is: Why? Who called them? For what purpose? Was it Bill “Moose” Misuraca or Jena Misuraca? If Dom Misuraca was there to talk to his brother about a misunderstanding, why didn’t it play out that way? If Jena called her “friends” in the Coeymans police department, what business was it of hers to get involved in something that was between two brothers. (And is that going to become a pattern if Mr Misuraca occupies the mayor’s office?). And if Dom has every right to be on the property, and was not creating a disturbance, he was within his rights.

Now let’s superimpose this little scenario on what might occur if it was in Ravena Village Hall….

Imagine_ifNow, readers, take this scenario a step further and imagine the Halfway House Tavern is the Ravena Village Hall. Now imagine that there’s some illegal crapola going on in the village workings involving some mismanagement or corruption (= the alleged untaxed employees at the Halfway House Tavern), and some people are upset about it (= Misuraca’s mother and Dom Misuraca). A citizen (= Dom Misuraca) goes to the public space (= Halfway House Tavern = Village Hall) to discuss the issue with an elected official (= Bill “Moose” Misuraca) in order to get the story straight. The citizen (= Dom Misuraca) has every right (1) to be concerned about the situation, (2) to go to village hall, (3) to talk to the elected official, (4) to get the facts and the story straight. OK so far?

Perhaps the discussion gets a bit emotional (it happens at town, village and school board meetings all the time) but it’s not an incident. Now, say someone who is not an elected public servant or even an employee of the village government (= Jena Misuraca, although she works at the Halfway House Tavern) sticks his or her nose in it, and starts spreading rumors about the citizen’s (= Dom Misuraca) discussion with the elected official (= Bill “Moose” Misuraca) all over town, when s/he should have kept his/her mouth shut. Let’s also say that that rumor-monger (= Jena Misuraca) has questionable motives and hangs out with questionable groups (RCS Sports Association, Fiends of RCS, the Coeymanazi police department, Cathy and Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, etc.) and the whole thing gets perverted in the telling. And say, as the story goes, that that Ms Buttinsky (= Jena Misuraca), calls the police to intervene in something only to make a scene.

Now think: Does that paint a picture of open government where citizens can feel free to approach their elected officials, to discuss isses with them, to freely interact with local government without fear of retaliation or intimidation? Sure doesn’t sound that way to us! In fact, it sounds a lot like what we now have in Ravena Village Hall. It sounds a lot like what a local resident describes when he visited the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, a public place, during the open house, and was told he wasn’t welcome and to leave. It sounds just like what Cathy Deluca and one of her minions, Claude Wheeler, did when they falsely reported an incident to the Coeymanazi police, too. It also sounds a lot like the obstruction of justice by the Coeymans police department when it came to investigating the violation of the resident’s protected civil rights (a crime), the charge of falsely reporting an incident (a misdemeanor), the charge of conspiring (a misdemeanor) to file a falsely reporting an incident, when they concerned Cathy Deluca, the wife of Coeymans cop Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca! And that’s only one incident. Many similar ones appear in the list of Notices of Claims against the Village of Ravena, the Town of Coeymans, and the Coeymans Police Department.

Get the Facts and the Story Straight! Stop the Rumors and Gossip!

Get the Facts and the Story Straight!
Stop the Rumors and Gossip!

We need some answers to these questions we’ve posed above. We need some certainty that on March 18, voters are not jumping from the frying pan into a very big bonfire. We need to know what we’re getting into and whether we need to seriously ignore what the political parties have cooked up for us and start thinking very seriously about some local men and women who can be write-in candidates and who don’t have so much damned baggage! Think Laszlo Polyak or Michael Fisher, or another trustworthy write-in candidate for Ravena mayor, if the Bruno gang or Misuraca pair is getting too scary. Send us the names of your write-ins and we’ll campaign for them!

We need to hear from the candidates, too. Silence will only keep the rumors alive and will be an admission of guilt!

What we DON’T NEED in Ravena Village Hall is More Dirty Laundry and More Baggage! Do the Laundry and Unpack the Baggage, Candidates, Before Election Day! How about financial disclosures? Tax records? Answers to straight questions? Don’t voters deserve to have answers from the men and women who are asking to be elected? If we cant demand accountability and get transparency at the local level, how in hell can you hope for it from Albany or Washington D.C.?
