“If you want me to do my job, you’ll have to pay me more…”

That seems to be the mantra of the leftovers from the O’Rorke mob in NewBaltimoreTown Hall.
Former Town Attorney, David Wukitsch tried it and it got him fired!

New Baltimore Town Clerk Janet Brooks
Balks at Keeping Regular Office Hours

New Baltimore Town Clerk's Office Hours Board Wants Change

New Baltimore Town Clerk’s Office Hours
Board Wants Change

It seems that re–elected New Baltimore Town Clerk, Janet Brooks, has had a pretty easy time in recent years but the newly elected team under Nick Dellisanti has diligently reviewed past practices and is busy correcting abuses.

One recent resolution that was deliberated at the New Baltimore town board meeting of February 10, 2014, was a resolution to “Establish the Hours of the Town Clerk’s Office.” Seems like a reasonable thing to do. But our question is: Didn’t the Town Clerk’s office have regular working hours? Apparently not! That’s exactly why the new board had to bring a resolution.

Town Clerk Janet Brooks and Lisa Benway and Chris Norris OPPOSE the Resolution to Establish hours of operation for the Town Clerk’s office. Why?

The actual resolution seems to be reasonable in all respects. In fact, it reads:

Town of New Baltimore, County of Greene
Resolution
February 10, 2014

Resolution to Establish Hours of the Town Clerk’s Office

RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of New Baltimore hereby sets the hours for the Town Clerk’s Officer from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Monday through Friday and meetings by appointment on the second and fourth Monday of the month from 5:30—6:45 PM.

In the past, the present re–elected New Baltimore Town Clerk, Janet Brooks, was supposed to be a full – time (at least 37.5 hours per week) employee. For that position, Ms Brooks received $28,560 salary plus benefits in 2012, $28,846 (an increase of $286) in 2013, and $29,669 (an increase of $823) is budgeted for 2014. When Ms Brooks took to the campaign trail to run for re – election in November 2013, she must have known that her position was full – time and that she would be expected to be in the clerk’s office full–time to collect a full – time salary. Right? Isn’t that reasonable? But Ms Brooks, Ms Benway and Mr Norris, with the loud–mouth support of Ms Diane Louis, New Baltimore Democratic Committee chairperson, and a handful of childish locals with placards intended to read “We Like our Town Clerk”, ready to put on a disorderly display of stupidity and ignorance, which was obviously planned well in advance. But try that in my meeting and you’ll find your arses and your silly-signs escorted by a sheriff’s deputy to the parking lot and maybe even get charged with disorderly conduct or interfering with a public assembly!

In response to the board’s decision to set hours for the town clerk’s office, Ms Brooks informed the board that if she had to be in the office during regular hours, she wants more money! Fancy that! Remember when David Wukitsch, former New Baltimore Town Attorney, used that line when asked why he didn’t advise the town about illegal purchasing practices? That’s why he’s “former” town attorney.

Let’s be clear on several points: Ms Janet Brooks has allegedly had it very easy in the past and has allegedly not been putting in her time at town hall. Ms Janet Brooks also has the support of at least 2 deputy / assistant town clerks. Why so much assistance? Well, when the elected town clerk is not in the office somebody has to do her job.

We’re talking about a 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. job for more than $30,000 (if you count the generous benefits and pension) isn’t bad at all for a cushy job like town clerk, and amounts to 6 ½ hours a day (allowing for a ½ hour lunch break), which more than compensates for the clerk’s attendance at town board meetings.

Problem is, old bad habits die hard, especially when you’ve been caught with your mitts in the cookie jar!

no-showBrooks and her minions very loudly opposed the establishment of regular business hours for the clerk’s office. Brooks even read from the New York State Town Law. But Brooks’ interpretation of law is a bit self – serving. Here’s why:

Brooks has been New Baltimore town clerk for at least 8 years now and has run for re–election at least twice, both times while the local country–club democratic clique was running things down the tubes (during David Louis’ terms and then during the O’Rorke dictatorship). Didn’t Brooks know she was full–time and had to be in the office during regular hours? Didn’t she know that when she ran for re – election in November 2013? Or did she think she’d be able to call the shots now, too, and get a full–time salary for part–time attendance, while having two monkeys to do the work?

Time’s Run Out for Crooks and Corruption in New Baltimore!

New York State Town Law makes the town board responsible for policy:

§ 51. General powers of town board.

The town board of a suburban town shall be the legislative, appropriating, governing and policy determining body of the town and shall have and exercise all such powers and duties as are conferred or imposed upon it or are necessarily incidental thereto

This means that the New Baltimore town board has the power to set reasonable hours of operation for the town clerk’s office.

The section of New York State Town Law that applies to town clerks has some interesting points, too:

§ 30. Powers and duties of town clerk. The town clerk of each town:

1. Shall have the custody of all the records, books and papers of the town. She or he shall attend all meetings of the town board, act as clerk thereof, and keep a complete and accurate record of the proceedings of each meeting, and of all propositions adopted

Well, if Ms Brooks wants to read the law, she should know that she must attend “all meetings of the town board.” No question there.

Here’s where we get into the sticky issue of deputy town clerks and this is where Brooks might be shooting herself in the foot:

10. (a) The town clerk may appoint, and at his or her pleasure remove, a first deputy town clerk, who shall serve without compensation from the town unless otherwise provided by the town board…such first deputy town clerk shall possess the powers and perform the duties of the town clerk during the absence or inability to act of the town clerk…the first deputy town clerk shall take and file the constitutional oath of office…

The law then goes on to say:

the town clerk may appoint, and at his or her pleasure remove, up to two additional deputy town clerks whose duties and responsibilities shall be established by the town board. The town board, in its discretion, may delegate to the town clerk the authority to establish the duties of the additional deputy town clerks. Any such additional deputy town clerks shall serve without compensation from the town, unless otherwise provided by the town board.

So, New York State Town Law gives the Town Board the power to establish policy and legislate in the framework of governing the town. New York State Town Law also allows the town clerk to appoint a first deputy, but that appointment will not be paid by the town unless the town board approves such payment. The New York State Town Law also allows the clerk to appoint up to two additional deputies but, again, those deputies serve without compensation unless the town board allocates funds to pay them AND the town board decides what those deputies are to do.

The town clerk is an elected town officer but is not elected to govern and has not voting power on the board. The town clerk’s job is, simply, to keep records and file reports.

So, our advice to New Baltimore Town Clerk, Ms Janet Brooks, is this: You ran for re – election knowing full well that you are full–time and you are drawing a full–time salary. You have no business whatsoever complaining that the New Baltimore Town Board intends by resolution to establish regular office hours for the clerk’s office. Office hours from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. are not exactly forced labor and a salary including benefits of well over $30,000 / year is hardly slave labor. So, Ms Brooks, no more part–time or no–shows for full–time salary and benefits. You’re going to have to go to work and show up, Ms Brooks, and the New Baltimore Town Board has the legal authority to set the clerk’s office hours, to decide whether or not to pay any first deputy clerk, and to decide whether to pay any additional deputies AND to decide their duties.

Of course, if any first deputy clerk is appointed by you, Ms Brooks, you will have to show clear and convincing justification why you need a first deputy, and why you cannot do the job. We won’t even address the issue of any additional deputies.

If You Don't Want To Do the Job You Have...

If You Don’t Want To Do the Job You Have…

The New Baltimore Town Board has found it necessary to establish the hours of the town clerk’s office because of the casual way the office has been allowed to function in the past and because of the abuses of the public’s trust and money. The New Baltimore Town Board is fully within its authority to protect the public’s interest and to enforce a policy of regular operating hours for the New Baltimore Town Clerk’s office. If Ms Brooks can’t accept that, maybe she’s in the wrong place.

A Family Incident Leads to Political Questions: What’s the deal?

Does a Misunderstanding Between Two Brothers About An Alleged Illegality Tell Us Something About the Candidate…And the Potential Conflicts of Interest and Interference by the Candidate’s Wife?

Family Incident Sends Up the Red Flags!!!

Family Incident Sends Up the Red Flags for Ravena Voters!!!

A real-life incident between Dom Misuraca, brother of Bill “Moose” Misuraca, the Republican Candidate for Mayor of Ravena, may tell volumes of what Ravena residents can expect if Mr Misuraca is elected, and should send up red flags about the possible conflicts of interest and interference that may be caused by Misuraca’s wife, Jena Misuraca, with possible effects of abuse of public office. Here’s the scenario straight from the brother’s mouth:

The Brother, Dom Misuraca, of Republican Ravena Mayoral Candidate Bill “Moose” Misuraca, writes in a recent response to a comment made by one of our readers:

Ill just say this to your assine reply to my comment:

1. The way he [Bill “Moose” Misuraca] makes a sandwich matters little in comparison to running a town [Ravena].

2. I did storm into the bar, as far as it being “no reason at all”, well you wouldnt know that I had just gotten off the phone with my crying mother….crying because he was blaming ME , as the person that reported the bar for HAVING UNTAXED WORKERS. While I do not condone off the book employees, I certainly did not report him…I am not only [the] person on his bad side.

The police were not necessary if he had only been able to COMMUNICATE WITH ME, instead of jumping to conclusions and allowing his wife [Jena Misuraca] to spread rumors. I certainly wouldnt have WASTED THE TAXPAYERS MONEY by calling the police….who , in TRUE RAVENA FASHION ,arrived in a pack of three.

3. HE IS NOT FULL OWNER OF NEITHER THE BAR nor PROPERTY. As partial owner of the property, i was within my rights to be there…i left to talk to the police outside ,away from nosey barflies…… It seems like it is YOU [one of our readers] who does not know the whole story,

[Response to comment made to the article The Buzz is Out: Bill “Moose” Misuraca will Challenge John “Black Mamba” Bruno in the Ravena Mayoral Race!!]

Although it sounds like a family matter, there are three points embedded in Dom Misuraca’s comment that are of significant interest to our readers, and raise questions about the mayoral candidate, Bill “Moose” Misuraca:

(1) The allegation that Bill “Moose” Misuraca and his wife Jena Misuraca were evading the law as regards workers/employee taxes. Not that financial mismanagement hasn’t been the hallmark of the John T. Bruno & Co. regime, this is a serious allegation, especially serious when it is made against someone who wants to be the chief financial officer of the Village of Ravena. We need to hear more about this allegation and maybe get some clarification.

(2) The apparent communication problem is also worrying. If someone can’t communicate appropriately on a serious matter, whether the allegation is true or untrue, and that person can’t respond to the allegation in a rational and sensible way, that is another serious problem for someone who wants to be the chief communicator of the Village of Ravena.

(3) Rumors have always been a problem in Ravena-Coeymans and have caused a lot of heartache to a lot of people. We mentioned in a previous post that we are concerned that Jena Misuraca may not respect boundaries if her husband, Bill Misuraca, is elected to be Ravena mayor. We base our concern on Jena’s many sometimes questionable participattion in local movements and the company she tends to keep. The RCS Sports Association with its Twilight Zone history of shabby bookkeeping and total lack of transparency, Jena’s involvement with certain groups involved in the schools (and we don’t mean the cookie-baking team), her outrageous political activism and partisanship relating to the RCS board of education, her questionable friendships with local renegade figures like Cathy and Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, and the list could go on. Jena simply doesn’t know when to mind her own business and to lay low, if necessary. Jena’s “individualism”, if you want to call it that, goes far beyond what we would like to see in the wife of the mayor of Ravena. In our opinion, there could be many conflicts of interest and problems created if Jena isn’t kept in her crate with her mouth shut.

(4) The coziness with elements of the Coeymanazi police department bothers us, too. All of the above concerns culminate in the fact that the Coeymans police were involved and our question is: Why? Who called them? For what purpose? Was it Bill “Moose” Misuraca or Jena Misuraca? If Dom Misuraca was there to talk to his brother about a misunderstanding, why didn’t it play out that way? If Jena called her “friends” in the Coeymans police department, what business was it of hers to get involved in something that was between two brothers. (And is that going to become a pattern if Mr Misuraca occupies the mayor’s office?). And if Dom has every right to be on the property, and was not creating a disturbance, he was within his rights.

Now let’s superimpose this little scenario on what might occur if it was in Ravena Village Hall….

Imagine_ifNow, readers, take this scenario a step further and imagine the Halfway House Tavern is the Ravena Village Hall. Now imagine that there’s some illegal crapola going on in the village workings involving some mismanagement or corruption (= the alleged untaxed employees at the Halfway House Tavern), and some people are upset about it (= Misuraca’s mother and Dom Misuraca). A citizen (= Dom Misuraca) goes to the public space (= Halfway House Tavern = Village Hall) to discuss the issue with an elected official (= Bill “Moose” Misuraca) in order to get the story straight. The citizen (= Dom Misuraca) has every right (1) to be concerned about the situation, (2) to go to village hall, (3) to talk to the elected official, (4) to get the facts and the story straight. OK so far?

Perhaps the discussion gets a bit emotional (it happens at town, village and school board meetings all the time) but it’s not an incident. Now, say someone who is not an elected public servant or even an employee of the village government (= Jena Misuraca, although she works at the Halfway House Tavern) sticks his or her nose in it, and starts spreading rumors about the citizen’s (= Dom Misuraca) discussion with the elected official (= Bill “Moose” Misuraca) all over town, when s/he should have kept his/her mouth shut. Let’s also say that that rumor-monger (= Jena Misuraca) has questionable motives and hangs out with questionable groups (RCS Sports Association, Fiends of RCS, the Coeymanazi police department, Cathy and Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, etc.) and the whole thing gets perverted in the telling. And say, as the story goes, that that Ms Buttinsky (= Jena Misuraca), calls the police to intervene in something only to make a scene.

Now think: Does that paint a picture of open government where citizens can feel free to approach their elected officials, to discuss isses with them, to freely interact with local government without fear of retaliation or intimidation? Sure doesn’t sound that way to us! In fact, it sounds a lot like what we now have in Ravena Village Hall. It sounds a lot like what a local resident describes when he visited the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, a public place, during the open house, and was told he wasn’t welcome and to leave. It sounds just like what Cathy Deluca and one of her minions, Claude Wheeler, did when they falsely reported an incident to the Coeymanazi police, too. It also sounds a lot like the obstruction of justice by the Coeymans police department when it came to investigating the violation of the resident’s protected civil rights (a crime), the charge of falsely reporting an incident (a misdemeanor), the charge of conspiring (a misdemeanor) to file a falsely reporting an incident, when they concerned Cathy Deluca, the wife of Coeymans cop Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca! And that’s only one incident. Many similar ones appear in the list of Notices of Claims against the Village of Ravena, the Town of Coeymans, and the Coeymans Police Department.

Get the Facts and the Story Straight! Stop the Rumors and Gossip!

Get the Facts and the Story Straight!
Stop the Rumors and Gossip!

We need some answers to these questions we’ve posed above. We need some certainty that on March 18, voters are not jumping from the frying pan into a very big bonfire. We need to know what we’re getting into and whether we need to seriously ignore what the political parties have cooked up for us and start thinking very seriously about some local men and women who can be write-in candidates and who don’t have so much damned baggage! Think Laszlo Polyak or Michael Fisher, or another trustworthy write-in candidate for Ravena mayor, if the Bruno gang or Misuraca pair is getting too scary. Send us the names of your write-ins and we’ll campaign for them!

We need to hear from the candidates, too. Silence will only keep the rumors alive and will be an admission of guilt!

What we DON’T NEED in Ravena Village Hall is More Dirty Laundry and More Baggage! Do the Laundry and Unpack the Baggage, Candidates, Before Election Day! How about financial disclosures? Tax records? Answers to straight questions? Don’t voters deserve to have answers from the men and women who are asking to be elected? If we cant demand accountability and get transparency at the local level, how in hell can you hope for it from Albany or Washington D.C.?

Ravena Mayoral Race Off and Running

Predictability and Stagnation: Ravena Democratic Slate for Mayor, Councilpersons

Political Stagnation
Political Stagnation in Ravena Village Hall

Vision and Freshness: Ravena Republican Slate

Misuraca-Coye-Mahler Team to Challenge Bruno-Case-Persico Gang

It’s a No-Brainer! Correction: It does require a brain to do what’s right and decide what’s best for the village of Ravena. Ravena needs change, and the Ravena Republican slate is offering voters the opportunity to make that necessary change. The opportunity to give Ravena a new lease on life. Actually, the revitalization of Ravena won’t start on Main Street Ravena until it starts in Village Hall Ravena.

Revitalize Ravena Starting with Ravena Village Hall

Revitalize Ravena Starting with Ravena Village Hall

On January 27, 2014, at the Ravena Democratic Caucus, the Democrats made the same predicatable move to nominate John T. Bruno as their mayoral candidate, and confirmed Martin “Marty” Case and Rocco Persico to be their bad choices for village trustees. Here”s our take on that mistake:

  • The Ravena Democratic caucus met on January 27th but their numbers were way down. Only about half of the usual attendance was there. That should tell you something for a start: They don’t have much support even from their own hangers-on.
  • Furthermore, keep in mind that the Bruno and Persico clans in Ravena are not going to waste a second in calling in their large tribes and their members to hit the polls on March 18, 2014. That’s how it’s done in Ravena: the Incest Club calls all of the tribe to vote for them, and they do stick together. That’s all the more reason why the rest of us have to mobilize and get to the polls!
  • Second of all, Bruno is going to use his medieval strong-arm techniques and his usual threats to bully anyone and everyone to put him back on his throne. Bruno will probably be twisting village employees’ arms, too, threatening them with loss of the cushy jobs if he gets voted out. So Bruno’s pets and appointees will be doing everything they can to keep king Bruno in office. They have a lot to lose if he loses.
  • Remember, too, that Martin “Marty” Case and Rocco Persico work for the RCS Central School District and that bunch stick together like dung beetles on a turd ball. Marty Case just barely got voted in in the last elections and lost in his bid for the Coeymans supervisor’s office this past November 5. He’s a loser when it comes to doing anything except cashing his oversized teacher’s paycheck. Rocco Persico is a school psychologist but didn’t do very much when it came to protecting students or Ravena youth and teens. Both Case and Persico are useless and we can’t expect much more from them. But be prepared for some dirty teacher tricks when it comes to bullying the vote. They’re good at that.
  • Coeymans Democratic Committee chairperson, Tom Dolan, is a multiple loser and has shipwrecked his party in the recent Coeymans town elections this past November. Dolan has a history of playing dirty with the ballots, too. He runs the social services organization Choices, and will likely be abusing his position there to influence the Oakbrook Manor voters. The best thing to do to stop that is to watch Dolan and his minions very closely and to let the Albany County Executive know of any misuse or abuse of power, leave us a comment here and we’ll alert the New York State Comptroller’s office and the NYS Attorney General. Everyone has to take voter fraud and manipulation of votes very seriously, even if it is indirect. Watch Tom Dolan very closely.

But even with Bruno’s behind-the-scenes bullying and Case’s and Persico’s backing by the RCS Central School District, they don’t have much of a chance because they have a pitiful record so far. Even Bruno and Persico might have a tough time getting the votes they need to take the election, even if they do call in village employees and family ties. People are just plainly sick and tired of the misery that life has become in Ravena.

Bruno & the Vampire Squad Albany Dem Machine Will Suck You Dry

Bruno &
the Vampire Squad

Albany Dem Machine
Will Suck You Dry

John Bruno, Marty Case and Rocco Persico are useless to Ravena and its residents; their only value is to the Albany Democratic Machine and its destructive, vampire effect it has on Albany County. All you have to do is compare the vitality and energy just to the South, in Greene County, a traditionally Republican county, to see the difference. If Ravena intends to survive, it has to escape the boney fingers and iron grip of the Dem Machine represented by Bruno and his gang. It has to be done on March 18, at the polls.

Here’s How to Revitalize Ravena:

First of all, clean out village hall and all of the parasites, leeches, crooks, and dead wood that have been nesting there for the past several decades. That means get rid of Bruno and all of his minions. King Rat has to go and then all the other rats will scurry for cover. No matter what lies you may hear from Cathy Deluca or Nancy Warren, it’s all election time campaign rhetoric to save their own asses. Just ask local businesses or count the empty buildings and closed businesses on Main Street alone. Bruno, Deluca, Warner and the rest of the village hall rat pack don’t have a plan; they never did, except to line their own nests with your money and sweat.

The Ravena Republican caucus met on January 29, and was well attended and enthusiastic. Even the town of Coeymans boardmembers were there to show their support. Why so enthusiastic and so much support? Well, because they met to confirm a slate of very promising younger candidates who have the community connections and smarts to do what Bruno and his mob couldn’t or wouldn’t do: Serve the community.

Bill “Moose” Misuraca is the people’s choice for mayor. Bill is young and energetic. He’s a business man and has been doing business right in Ravena for years. He runs the popular Halfway House Tavern, a village institution for going on almost century, and a popular dining and drinking establishment popular with the life-blood of the village of Ravena. (Besides, they have the best seafood chowder in the area!) Bill and his wife, Jena, are familiar and popular figures in Ravena, and both are and have been very active in community affairs, especially when it comes to area children and youth. Bill Misuraca truly has his finger on the pulse of the community; Bruno has his fingers in your pockets.

Joe Coye and Keith Mahler are challenging Marty Case and Rocco Persico. From where we are sitting, it’s going to be like shooting fish in a barrel and we really feel sorry for Case and Persico. But they asked for it. Marty Case has lost so many times already he’s apparently gotten to like being a loser; Rocco Persico is so laid back and “slow” he probably hasn’t even caught up with last week. Joe Coye and Keith Mahler form a great team together with Misuraca, and once elected will bring light, vision, and hope to village Hall. But what’s more important: Misuraca, Coye and Mahler are likely to shake things up, clean things up, and clear things out of village hall that should never have been there in the first place. We also expect that they’ll trim a lot of the fat and bring transparency and accountability back to Ravena. Feels good already, doesn’t it? You can almost smell the freshness in the air already.

revitalize the community

Our polls tell the real story already. In fact, we’ve moved all the polls, unchanged, to this article so that those in the community who have not yet participated can do so now. Misuraca takes the lead by a considerable margin over Houghtaling, while Bruno has 0 support in our polls. We’ve added a new poll below to get your inputs on (1) the Republican and Democrat mayoral candidates, and (2) the candidates running for village of Ravena trustee. Let the numbers be your guide!

[Editor’s Note: The write-in candidates marked with an * were not consulted regarding their willingness to run prior to this posting. We feel, however, that they would make excellent village trustees and so we have drafted them and are proposing them as write-ins for village trustee.]

Finally, a word of advice to Mr George E. Langdon, newly elected Town of Coeymans councilmember: Mr Langdon, you were elected to serve the commuinity and residents of the Town of Coeymans on the Town of Coeymans town board. You should concentrate on your duties and responsibilities on that board, and should spend every waking hour committed to that trust put in you by the voters of the town of Coeymans. Any other distractions from the service to the public for which you were elected should be avoided. Specifically, the distraction of power-grabbing and your attempts to steal the chairmanship of the Coeymans Republican Committee must cease and desist immediately. Concentrate on the job for which you were elected, or resign and then consider the chairmanship (if you dare). Under no circumstances should an elected public official/servant have the chairmanship of a political party committee; it may be legal but it’s not ethical! Stop now!

And a word to Mr Kenneth Burns, newly elected Town of Coeymans councilmember: Do the job for which you were elected and stay out of the business of political coups. A good word of advice to you, Mr Burns is this: keep your advice as to father figures to yourself. You’ll find less egg on your face.

Stay tuned for more important information on the candidates, the elections, and how we think Ravena can join the 21st century.

If anyone knows anything about any of the candidates or anyone close to them that is relevant to their fitness for public office, please share your information with us at rcs.confidential@gmail.com. Now’s the time to go public with it. You owe it to the community and to yourself.

Business as Usual or Change for the Better: Vote Now!

Village of Ravena Elections for mayor and two village council seats will be held on
Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
Why wait? At the end of this article you can vote for our candidates of choice for seats on the Ravena Village Council, or make your own recommendations. Help Save Ravena!

Our Worst Fears Were Confirmed:
Bruno, Case, and Persico Are Running Again!

Bruno, Case, Persico to Run Again!

Bruno, Case, Persico
to Run Again!

You Can Stop Them!

Tucked neatly away in the Ravena News Herald is the news we’ve all been waiting for…like the plague: Ravena mummy mayor John “Black Mamba” Bruno, Martin “Marty the Loser” Case, and Rocco “Seatwarmer” Persico have the gall to run again for village of Ravena public office. They apparently haven’t done enough damage to the village of Ravena and want a second shot at it!

Incumbent Ravena Mayor John “Black Mamba” Bruno and his monkeys in Ravena Village hall have done their best to put Ravena into bankruptcy in every conceivable way: Secret deals with CSX (and then making believe they fixed things by planting a couple of trees), problems with sewerage, defaulting on village bills, creation of an illegal and failing Ravena Health and Fitness Center, persecution of local youth and teens, violations of protected civil rights, suppression of free speech, crooked financial transactions with insiders, handing out jobs to favorites, abusing the community institutions, and the list could go on and on and on.

Ravena Needs Alternatives!

According to documents we’ve managed to get our hands on: The Notice of Democratic Caucus has gone out…that’s where the democrat candidates would normally be nominated…but the caucus is to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Ravena Fire House, 116 Main Street Ravena. But the candidate have already been selected, at least according to the last issue of the Ravena News Herald. The three incumbent monkeys—Bruno, Case and Persico— are running again. UNLESS Ravena democrats show up and speak out to nominate alternatives. Lord knows Ravena needs alternatives!

In the Meantime a New Warner-Deluca Scam

Bruno's Vixen

Have you heard? It must be election time! The Village of Ravena has recently sent out letters to “selected” “Main Street Property Owners” and “merchants” (Are there any left on Main Street?!?) but neglects other Ravena property owners and  residents having a stake in the future of the village of Ravena. The letter is inviting those selected property owners and “merchants” to attend a roundtable discussion and planning meeting to “revitalize” Main Street. What’s wrong with the rest of Ravena? You might well ask. But guess who are the contact persons for this “Centennial Committee”! Insiders, of course: Someone has put Cathy Deluca of Ravena Health and Fitness Center fame in as “Centennial Committee Chair,” and her sidekick, mayor Bruno’s “biatch”, Nancy Warner has been installed as a “Centennial Committee Member,” and sign the secret letter.

When was this Centennial Committee established and with what village resolution? Who are the other members of the so-callled Centennial Committee, or is it just the dirty duette, Deluca and Warner?

Cathy Deluca Note the ARANY Sweater! (No Special Interests Here!)

Cathy Deluca
Note the ARANY Sweater!
(Probably wearing CSX panties, too!)

old blond stripper smIf you read this and suddently red flags go up and you have an anxiety attack, and feel overly suspicious, you really ought to. Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner are the very ones who met behind closed doors to secretly spend more than $40,000 of taxpayer money to buy used fitness equipement from another insider. They, Bruno and Warner (Deluca already was promised the job as director of the fitness center) harassed the RCS Community Library out of the space that was decided to accommodate the fitness center, and then allocated more than $105,000.00 of taxpayer money to fund the fitness center for the 2013-2014 budget year. In the meantime, Bruno and Warnerand their sockpuppets on the Ravena village council, Case, Bailey and Persico, went ahead and appointed Cathy Deluca as “director” of the fitness center paying her $30,000 in salary plus generous benfits. We believe the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, like two of Deluca’s other fitness businesses is a loser. Even before the fitness center opened, Cathy Deluca opened her big mouth and got the village of Ravena a couple of new lawsuits (Remarkably, this legal situation was reported in the Ravena News Herald!)!Ravena Mayor John Bruno and his monkeys Martin CaseWilliam Bailley, and Rocco Persico, also joined forces with Nancy Warner in persecuting Ravena-Coeymans youth and teens in the “Gazebo Fiasco,” again attracting another Notice of Claim and lawsuit for violation of protected rights and civil rights. Bruno and Warner ultimately forced the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center to close its doors when they convinced insider Robert Fisk not to renew the Center’s lease. In shortl, they threw Ravena-Coeymans youth and teens out on the streets, screwed a local do-gooder, and created another distressed property on Ravena’s Main Street.

Now they, the Insiders Club in Ravena Village Hall, want to reinvent themselves as the Ravena Centennial Committee, headed by two arch-villains Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner, to “rejuvenate” Main Street Ravena. They’re the very ones who made Mainstreet Ravena a ghost town! And who’s going to pay for this “rejuventation?” We predict that this is just another smoke-and-mirrors scam that will benefit only the Ravena Insiders Club and no one else. If you fall for it…

Bovine bimbos Deluca and Warner, the so-called Centennial Committee are even so arrogant that they ask “invitees” to R.S.V.P. by January 27, 2014 (the telephone number given in the letter to call to R.S.V.P.: 756-5544, the number to Cathy Deluca’s Playpen a.k.a. the illegal Ravena Health and Fitness Center!!!).

The Ravena Centennial Committee Mainstreet Revitalization farce will meet on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. in the Ravena Village Courtroom. Please note also that the time, 5:30, on a Thursday has been selected because it will ensure that the fewest possible working people will be able to get to the farce. That’s one sure way of eliminating a good portion of the community. And these two trollettes are supposed to orchestrate a Centennial livestock show? Moo! To you, too, Deluca, Warner!

Ravena Centennial Committee Deluca & Warner

Ravena Centennial Committee
Deluca & Warner

We say any Centennial Celebration is a public affair from the planning to the execution. Any Ravena Main Street Rejuvenation is a public project and the public, not just a select group of property owners and merchants, selected by Guess Who!?! Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner! Any committee should be made up of public representatives not just Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner! How dare they make Ravena and its village Hall their private playpens! How dare mummy mayor John Bruno hand over Ravena to those two aging vixens to be their private sandbox. How dare Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner exclude thepublic from their little party…AGAIN!!! (Remember the Ravena Health and Fitness Club fiasco!) Those two middle-aged megalomaniacs need to be put in their proper place!

Back to alternatives….

Anyone who has been following this blog and reading our articles knows that we know what’s going on in this region. We watch, listen, receive intelligence, and report to our readers what they won’t get in the local sockpuppet media like the Ravena News Herald, the Greene County News, the Daily Mail, the Albany Times Useless. and others (most notably of the Johnson Newspaper Corporation and Hearst Corp.).

Our most recent poll confirmed several very important facts: The John Bruno regime is nearing its shameful end, and the Coeymans Police Department’s days are numbered (is that why Gerald “Dirty Hands Jerry” Deluca is allegedly planning to retire at the end of the month, or is that just empty rumor? But why is he driving a RCS school bus?]

Coeymans Republican Party Chairperson Barbara Cumm has been sitting on her thumbs for too long and maybe the Republican Party should replace her before she does some real damage. We know the three flying monkeys are running again on the dem ticket but what are the Ravena Republicans doing all this time? We haven’t heard of any potential opponents to the Bruno mob from the Republican side. What’s the big secret? (We all can expect Tom Dolan to fall on his face again, as his past performance as a dem candidate and dem chairperson have been less than glorious.)

[Editor’s Note: We would recommend that the Republican Party name Barbara Cumm as Republican Party Chairperson emeritus, and get a real chairperson on board who will shake things up in Coeymans. So far Cumm has been dozing off and playing senile political games in the area. Retire Cumm and get someone with some cojones on board to clean up the Coeymans political scene. Stop playing a loser’s game!]

The Bruno mob seem to think they have the democrat ticket in the bag; the Republicans are quiet as mice. But we don’t care about labels like democrat or Republican; we care about what’s happening in the community, and the damage that the Ravena regime under Bruno and Warner have inflicted through their greed and nastiness. So we looked at the situation and looked at a couple of local figures who are honest and community-service minded residents who should be drafted to fill the seats in Ravena Village hall. Here’s your chance to vote in advance and let your voice be heard. The Bruno-Warner mob hates these choices, which makes them even more desirable. If Bruno and Warner hate you, you must be honest. Perhaps you’ll influence the outcomes in a positive way.

Vote below in each of the polls. It’s anonymous and you will be able to vote only once. Your vote counts here, too!
Once you vote in the polls below, click on “View Results” (bottom left corner of each poll) to see the overall results!

Are you a Dem or Rep, or Other?

Ronald K. Houghtaling Jr. for Mayor. A very experienced, articulate, former Coeymans town supervisor, who can make good thing happen! Mr Houghtaling knows his way around government and business. He also knows how dirty the local politics is and still keep his hands clean. Vote here for Mr Houghtaling for Ravena mayor.

Laszlo Polyak for Ravena Councilman. Mr Polyak is a local resident and property owner who has been an outspoken advocate in defense of RCS CSD students and local property owners’ issues, as well as a crusader for honest, accountable government. Mr Polyak’s credentials are impressive, too. The Coeymanazis hate him and have done everything they could to stymie his bids for public office in the past. Mr Polyak has an unparalleled knowledge of Ravena and the players, and their histories. If the Bruno mob  hate him and fear him so much, he belongs in Ravena village hall!. Vote here for Mr Polyak for Ravena village councilman.

Michael Fisher for Ravena Councilman. Mr Fisher is a local resident, parent, property owner and, if you’ve been awake through all of the hullabaloo about the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and the persecution of Ravena-Coeymans youth and teens at the hands of Bruno and Warner and the present village council, you’ll know that Mr Fisher is a self-less community-spirited individual. He serves on the Coeymans rescue squad and fire department and invested untold personal resources to get Ravena-Coeymans kids off the street, and into a safe, supervised recreation center. That all ended when Bruno and Warner did their worst to sabotage Fisher’s efforts and works, and the Coeymans police (Deluca and Darlington?) played their intimidation/retaliation games.

Bruce Roberts for Ravena Councilman. Mr Roberts already has experience on the Ravena village council but was unseated by insider action. He held the trusteeship now abused by Nancy Warner.

Finally, Vote Here to Make your Choices for Ravena Mayor Known!

Finally, Vote Here to Make your Choices for Village Council Seats Known!

(The percents in this poll show the voters’ first choice (highest percent), second popular choice, and third popular choice in descending order of percents. The percentages must add up to 100%. These figures do not show the percent of total votes the candidate would receive, just his popularity in terms of percent.)

Please note that none of the “candidates” proposed above have not been consultated about their willingness to ru,n or even if they would run. We drafted them because we feel they’d do well and the community would benefit from their experience and integrity. With your help, we can work to convince them that they should respond to the community’s invitation to serve. Of course, if you have other recommendations, please let us know and we’ll be pleased to post them and get our readers’ inputs regarding your choices, too!

Final Results of the “Tell Us What You Think” Poll

After running the “Tell Us What You Think” Poll for 6 Weeks
The Responses Don’t Look Good for the Coeymans Police Department
Or for Mayor John T. Bruno and His Mafia Mob in Ravena Village Hall!

Residents Give Thumbs Down for Coeymans P.D. and Ravena Mayor John T. Bruno!!!

Because of the holidays we left the “Tell Us What You Think” poll up for an additional 2 weeks, a total of 6 weeks, during which residents could share what they thought on a number of local issues. In the first 24 hours of the poll residents were very energetic in responding and we received 278 responses in those first 24 hours. At 72 hours we already had 417 responses, and by the third week the poll had received 517 responses. The holidays distracted many people and the final two weeks of the poll yielded a final total of 656 responses. That’s about 10% of the entire population of Coeymans and about 20% of the entire population of New Baltimore in rough comparison. According to the locations reported by responders, though, 80% of responses came from the Ravena-Coeymans area and about 14% came from New Baltimore area. The remaining approximately 6% of responses were likely from the town of Bethlehem, Selkirk, Feura Bush, etc. Because the responses were anonymous there’s no way to tell for sure.

Eliminate the Coeymans Police Department and Leave Law enforcement to the Albany County Sheriff and the NYS Police…

Large Majority of Residents Say: Get Rid of the Coeymans P.D.!

Large Majority (76%) of Residents Say: Get Rid of the Coeymans P.D.!

The majority (76%) of Ravena-Coeymans residents responding to the poll questions about the Coeymans police department think that law enforcement in Coeymans should be provided by the Albany County Sheriff and the New York State Police. A very similar majority (75%) say that the Coeymans police department should be eliminated outright. The RCS CSD superintendent Alan R. McCartney and his teacher-loaded board of education put Coeymans police in our RCS schools but 67% of residents responding to the poll want the police out of our schools. and less than 1-out-of-five respondents think we need the police in our schools. The message that residents are sending is clear: a high majority of residents responding to the poll do not want the Coeymans police department in our communities and would rather have the Albany County Sheriff’s deputies and the NYS police handling law enforcement in our communities. (This is a no-brainer for residents in the Town of New Baltimore who are already being served perfectly well by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police!)

The Majority of Respondents Say NO! to Mayor John T. Bruno and His Crew of Critters

biz-woman-thumbs-down Ravena-Coeymans residents who responded on the survey clearly have had enough of the Bruno-machine in Ravena and the surrounding area. 66% of residents want “No more Bruno, Warner, Case, Bailey, Persico in Ravena.” That’s a very encouraging figure because if Ravena mayor John T. Bruno were to run today, he’d lose by a crushing landslide. Marty Case was the warning of Bruno’s unpopularity (but Case won his seat on the Ravena village council only by a margin, so he’s not an undisputed good example of popularity. That’s for certain!) Besides, there’s the unhealthy partnership between John Bruno and Nancy Warner that is like a cancer in Ravena. And then there’s the rift between Bill Bailey, Bruno’s whipping-boy-clown, and mayor John Bruno (But then, mayor John Bruno has no self-respect, how can he respect anyone else?).

A majority of residents (54%) think that Ravena mayor John Bruno should take a hike…a long hike. Those residents feel that Ravena mayor John Bruno should resign and apply for assisted living—in Alaska. But then, even Alaska might be too close for some residents. Only 6% (less than 1 resident in 10) think that mayor John Bruno is doing a good job. That’s really pitiful but those of us who have eyes to see and ears to hear know exactly why so few residents are Bruno supporters. That’s why he has to rely on the incest club and the crooks on the Ravena village payroll to get elected.

Now that we’re on the subject of why mayor John Bruno and his hatchet woman Nancy Warner are so hated, let’s look at two examples in the survey: the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activity Center. These two examples clearly show the character or lack of character of the occupants of Village Hall and their crooked croneys.

And YES! The Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activity Center is now closed, barely after a year of operation, only because Ravena mayor John Bruno, Ravena councilwoman Nancy Warner, and elements of the Coeymans police department made it their personal agenda to make certain it didn’t work. But what they failed to consider in their evil plan was the fact that although the Teen Center is now closed, it remains a living symbol of the Bruno era of negativity and destructiveness, and indifference to the interests of the community. The Teen Center continues alive and well as a symbol, even more powerful than when it was fighting for its life and for local teens and youth! The symbol of the Teen Center and the maltreatment of the RCS Community Library join the long list of Bruno-Warner failures and corruption in Ravena.

Even the Fat Lady Gives a Thumbs Down to the Ailing Ravena Health and Fitness Center.
Thanks! Cathy Deluca: Another Faiure!

We’ve already published volumes of truth on the misuse of public funds by the Bruno-Warner-Deluca conspiracy, and how the public was kept out of the discussions. We’ve already pointed out the incestuous relationships between the Bruno village hall and the Coeymans police department, where fatness queen Cathy Deluca’s husband, the corpulent cop Dirty-Hands Jerry parks his double-wide butt (but he’s now allegedly parking buses in the RCS central school district transportation department as a part-time bus driver! How in hell did he finagle that one?) How many jobs are the Ravena-Coeymans insiders going to hog and deprive residents of the opportunity to work? We’ve already reported how Cathy Deluca already closed two privately owned fitness centers and how the Village of Ravena has tried to get her special treatment with the Civil Service Commission so that she gets non-competitive status in a civil service job created for her! But the fact that more than $105,000.00 of Ravena taxpayer dollars were budgeted for the Ravena Health and Fitness Center for insider reasons we all know well does not explain Why? $0 dollars and 0 support was allocated to the youth and teens of Ravena-Coeymans. Nor does it explain why Josephine Biscone-Bruno (Prudential Real Estate) and Robert Fisk, both Ravena village hall insiders, sucked a local philanthropist, Mr Michael Fisher, into taking over the now ugly and empty building at 170 Main Street, Ravena. Nor does it explain Why? after approving the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activity Center Bruno and Warner went on a relentless campaign to bad-mouth the Center and to persecute Ravena youth. It’s all history now because Bruno and Warner and the cowards around them, indirectly assisted by the dolts in Coeymans town hall at the time, with no support from the Coeymanazis in the Coeymans police department (Was it because the kids were going to the Teen Center rather than kissing cop ass on the athletic club? Or was there a murkier, more sinister reason?)

Neglected Teens and Youth

Neglected Teens and Youth

down youth silhouetteIn our survey, 68% of residents responding wanted to “Save the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center” and only 15% felt that Ravena-Coeymans didn’t need the Teen Center. That’s a pretty big difference and when you really think about it, what kind of people would deny the teens a safe and supervised place to go and stay off the streets!?! Another question would be: Where were the 68% when mayor John Bruno, Nancy Warner, and the Coeymans Police were harassing and intimidating the kids when they were at the Teen Center?

It’s heartbreaking but true that Ravena village hall and Coeymans town hall, together with the persecution by the Coeymans police department brought down a great idea but invested absolutely nothing in it. Neither the village of Ravena nor the town of Coeymans invested a single cent in the Teen Center. But Ravena village hall invested an awful lot of time farting around and backstabbing to make sure it disappeared. What did they provide to fill the void? What did they do to give the kids a place to go in the village of Ravena, the hamlet of Coeymans? You know the answer, parents, grandparents. Why don’t you tell the kids why you didn’t open your mouths or your wallets? Shame on you all. But more shame on the 68% who thought that the Teen Center should be saved and didn’t do anything to save it. You could have done that easily with at least 68%. You could have kicked Bruno’s and Warner’s butts but instead you threw the kids in, and got real low to kiss butt. Proud of yourselves?

As for the Ravena Health and Fitness Center residents of Ravena, at least, proved again that all sheep don’t go to slaughter on four legs, some actually walk on two legs. All of Ravena-Coeymans bent over again for another Bruno-Warner quickie and let Cathy Deluca and the Coeymanazis stick it to them, while Bruno, Warner and the Delucas sang all the way to the bank. Why is that? How did that happen, we ask you? How could that have happened when 68% of poll responses think that “the Ravena Health and Fitness Center is an illegal joke”?

thumbs-down young biz guyHow is it possible that (1) the village of Ravena created the Ravena Health and Fitness Center without public inputs and without a feasibility study of the need for such a facility, (2) hired an insider, Cathy Deluca, and friends to run the place, (3) allocated more than $105,000 to run the place, (4) approved $30,000 plus benefits to pay Cathy Deluca, (5) set rules for using the “public place” to exclude anyone under 18 years of age (the very kids who were going to the Teen Center), (6) made the Ravena Health and Fitness Center a “political/private” club by making it very clear that some local residents were unwelcome there, and the list goes on and on! How is that possible when such a large majority, 68% of residents responding to the poll think the Ravena Health and Fitness Club is an “illegal joke”? How is that possible when only 8% of residents responding to the poll think that Ravena needs the Fitness Center. And if 8% of the residents responding think that they need the illegal joke of a so-called Fitness Center, why is it that 0%—YES! You read right: ZERO—are members of the Fitness Center or have a family member who is a member of the Fitness Center.?!?! (That’s about right because whenever we check the parking lot at the Fitness Center it’s pretty empty. And what are the local churches doing with the Fitness Center possibly stealing people away from the church-sponsored programs, like zumba etc.?)

We repeat: 68% of responders think the Ravena Fitness Center is an “illegal joke”; only 8% think we need the Ravena Fitness Center, and 0% of responders are members or have a family member who is a member of the Ravena Fitness Center. So does it really make sense that the village of Ravena gave the RCS Community Library such a hard time and evicted the library for the space for the Fitness Center? Does it really make sense to have paid more than $40,000 of taxpayer money to purchase the used fitness center equipment from insider Robert “Bob” Fisk? Does it really make sense to have allocated more than $105,000 of taxpayer money to fund the Fitness Center? Is it really fair that a local insider, Cathy Deluca, should have been appointed to run the place after already running two fitness centers to failure? And does it make sense to appoint Cathy Deluca, an insider and close friend of Bruno and Warner, to be director to the tune of more than $30,000 plus benefits? Apparently the majority of aware readers, 68% percent of you don’t think so! So what did you or are you going to do about it?

That brings us to a very revealing part of this report: In the local general elections this past November 5, 2013, voters finally took a firm stand on bad government and crooked elected officials. In Coeymans voters gave Tom “Bigmouth” Boehm and Dawn “Dizzy” Rogers their walking papers. They affirmed their trust in Supervisor Stephen Flach and rejected Ravena mayor John Bruno’s puppet, Martin “Marty” Case. Coeymans is safe.

In addition, by a huge margin—not unexpected, of course—voters rejected the idiotic candidacy of Dawn Maddage, who was totally unknown and unqualified for the Coeymans Town Clerk position. As expected, the popular, experienced, respected Diane Millious was re-elected. That must have been a crushing disappointment for sitting town democrat councilman Thomas E. “Tom” Dolan, who really screwed up the democratic tickets, after having suffered a pitiful defeat in his own bid for a NYS senate seat. Dolan chairs the local democrat committee—The question is: How much longer is the dork going to be allowed to corrupt local politics and get away with it. Even a penile implant wouldn’t keep his approval ratings up!

New Arrival Baby 2014 Gives a Thumbs Down to Ravena Regime!

New Arrival Baby 2014 Gives a Thumbs Down to Ravena Regime!

2014 is an election year for the village of Ravena. The writing on the wall indicates that there’s going to be a big change in Ravena, too. That is, only if voters don’t allow the corruption and favoritism to take the vote away from the voters.

Think of it this way: 85% of residents responding to the poll reside in the village of Ravena or Coeymans. 80% of respondents report that they voted in the November 2013 elections. Do the math. Look at the trends in the respondents’ responses. Now figure out what direction the village of Ravena and other local communities are going to go.

Say what you will about this blog, the numbers and the responses speak for themselves. 82% (with a high of 97%) of responders say that they “get more information from this blog than from local news media.” We’d take that one step further and say that local residents get more true information on this blog than they’ll ever get from local news media. That’s common knowledge., but 72% of responders say that they rely on this blog for truthful information about the community. 79% of responders say that this blog is an important community resource. 75% of responders say that they would “gladly do business with a business that supports this blog.” That’s good to know because although we have never asked for financial support of our work, and work it is, we may need to offer advertising slots to cover expenses. After all, we still have to pay $0.25 a page for documents FOILED from local government and $10.00 for every CD containing recorded minutes, police interviews, or public meetings. It all adds up to a tidy sum. Our time and gas is also not subsidized by any additional income.

All good has a negative side to it and to be complete we have to report at a whopping 17% of responders think this blog is useless. Makes you wonder why they even bother reading it, let alone take the time to respond to one of its polls. Go figure!

100% of residents responding in the poll said that they answered the poll questions honestly and seriously. We believe that and thank all 656 responses for taking the time to answer our questions and to let the community know what such a large number of residents representative of our community are thinking.

 The Good News

As of January 1st, both the Town of Coeymans (Albany County) and the Town of New Baltimore (Greene County) now have new leadership and new majorities. It looks very good for those two towns, and our hope is that they will put their heads together, and perhaps even involve the Town of Coxsackie (Greene County), to stop the bickering and stalemates and get things done in the interest of the residents and taxpayers of those communities. We hope that the voters in the Village of Ravena (Town of Coxsackie, Albany County) will see the light at the end of the long dark tunnel that the former town councils and the present village government has painted very, very dark, indeed. We hope that the voters in the Village of Ravena, supported by their neighbors in the Hamlet of Coeymans will fumigate village hall on Election Day 2014, get rid of the cockroach infestation there now, and finally install a village team that will not badmouth and fingerpoint but will foster and nurture inter-community cooperation. Once that is done, intercommunity groups and action can step in and take the Bruno-Warner ghost town and resucitate it to become a colorful, inviting, vibrant community with a real heartbeat. The new administration in New Baltimore can now take charge and put New Baltimore on the map not as a community that digs up its natural treasures and buries its traditions, but one that truly serves its residents, fosters neighborliness, and preserves the traditional values of work, faith, fairness, family and loyalty. The Town of Coeymans can come a long way by cleaning up its own corruption now that some of the vermin have been removed from the community pantry. But there’s much work ahead and real smart governing and negotiation that has to be done soon before the enthusiasm wanes, and support for major change recedes. There’s excitement in the air…and true hope in hearts. Don’t disappoint us. After all, this blog is not really about “Thumbs Down” but about “Handshakes” and we and our readers are on the spot to make sure those gestures of friendship, community, and cooperation happen. Please do your part to make 2014 a year of prosperity and positive change!

Make it happen!

Make it happen!

Swearing In of Elected Officials…It’s Still a Public Ceremony, Isn’t It?

The Poll is Closed. A total of 656 Responses
Stay tuned for the final results!
Thank you for your participation!

On November 5th, 2014, the Power Structures In the Town of Coeymans and the Town of New Baltimore Were Reversed. That Was a Good Thing.

Voters in the Town of New Baltimore booted incompetent town supervisor Susan O’Rorke out of the town hall and replaced her with a competent and community-oriented man, Nick Dellisanti. Also defeated was campaign sign vandal/thief Janet Angelis of the Angelis-Schrauf partnership (Hilary Schrauf was defeated). Jeff Ruso was voted to be a town council member, as was Shelly VanEtten. Janet Brooks was re-elected as town clerk and Diane jordan, wife of New Baltimore Highway Superintendent Denis Jordan, was elected to be Town of New Baltimore tax collector.

BEDBUGS STILL IN NEW BALTIMORE TOWN HALL

Demand a RECALL Vote!!!

If New Baltimore Town Clerk Janet Brooks and Tax Collector Diane Jordan Can’t Show Up for the Public Swearing In, Maybe Voters Should Let Them Stay Away…Permanently!!!
RECALL them both and put people in office who care enough to show up!

If New Baltimore Highway Superintendant Denis Jordan doesn’t like following Town of New Baltimore Purchasing Policies and the Law, and if Jordan Doesn’t Like Treating all Taxpayers and Residents Equally and Fairly, RECALL Him. Put Someone in the Superintendent’s Office Who Cares!!!

The November 5, 2013, general elections are all old news, we know. But we’re interested in what’s going on behind the scenes and would like you to know, too. The 2014 Recall Elections are the new news.

Campaigns and elections are public spectacles. The candidates strut their stuff and play show and tell, trying to convince the voting public that he or she is the right choice. Electioneering and campaign criminality, as we’ve all observed, is not beneath some of the aspiring “public servants.” Those who lost the most recent elections found out that sabotage and campaign criminality just won’t be tolerated anymore by voters. O’Rorke, Angelis, Schrauf got the thumbs down.

But in past articles we warned that if you don’t get all the bedbugs and roaches out of the house at once, you still have a bug problem. That’s what seems to be happening in New Baltimore as we write. Voters didn’t clean house and left a couple of bedbugs, members of the O’Rorke clique—they’re the ones who will be creating problems. You betcha!

O’Rorke, Angelis, Schrauf may not have been elected but they’re still conspiring to make life difficult for those who voters did confirm as their choices to govern the town of New Baltimore.

Janet Brooks and Diane Jordan were real eager to campaign and go public to get the voters to keep them in office. But they were conspicuously absent from the swearing in ceremony at the New Baltimore Town hall on January 1st. What’s worse is no one knew then or knows for certain when or where Brooks or Jordan were sworn in, or who swore them in. They’re not in office until they’re sworn in. Furthermore, wouldn’t you think that it would have been appropriate if all the newly elected town officials were together to be sworn in as a team? Apparently, Brooks and Jordan had other plans. We’re wondering if these two leftovers from the corrupt and inept O’Rorke machine were sending a message to the new supervisor and board that they, Janet Brooks and Diane Jordan, were going to be troublemakers. We find that to be a comic alliance, because Janet Brooks generally treated Diane Jordan with a certain snootiness, even disdain; Brooks even made certain that Jordan got an office far from Brooks’ office (seems there was allegedly some question of hygiene?). So, we’d like to know where Brooks and Jordan were at the public swearing-in ceremonies. The voting public had a right to witness the swearing in of their elected officials…ALL OF THEM, MS BROOKS and MS JORDAN, included!!!

The deeper dark secrets of the O’Rorke corruption in town hall are slowly but surely coming to light. First there was the New York State Comptroller’s audit that creamed O’Rorke and her crew; then there was O’Rorke’s idiotic attempt to explain the mismanagement and discrepancies. We do need to note that none of the double-talk explained anything about why proper records were not kept and even the town’s own purchasing policies were violated! We have an unconfirmed report that it’s even worse than all of that. Our facts are unverified as we write but as soon as we get solid confirmation, we’ll report.

BECAUSE WE CAN!

BECAUSE WE CAN!

The good news is that Susan O’Rorke is not off the hook. Neither are Lisa Benway or Christopher Norris. They may all be facing charges. David Wukitsch, former attorney for the town of New Baltimore (YES! You read correctly. One of our New Year’s resolutions has already come true: the New Baltimore town council has FIRED David Wukitch! Now it’s Coeymans turn to give that shyster the boot!) may also be vulnerable for discipline.

Lisa Benway and Christopher Norris' Public Meeting Procedure

Lisa Benway and Christopher Norris’ Public Meeting Procedure

O’Rorke, Benway and Norris had a perverse idea of what the “public” in “public meeting” meant and suppressed public comment during town meetings. The O’Rorke crew even voted to discontinue the rules of procedure for town meetings, and their democrat ouija board master Diane Lewis praised them for that fascist move. The new town board led by Supervisor Nick Dellisanti wants to encourage public participation in town government and has resolved to provide time for public questions and comment both before and after the board business. According to one member, the public comes in to the meeting with concerns, comments and questions and the board is interested in hearing these. Then, after the board’s discussion of pending business, the public may have concerns, comments and questions and should have the opportunity to address those to the board, too. Each comment will be noted and a response will be prepared to ensure that every citizen gets the dignity of a response. Dellisanti, Ruso, VanEtten passed the resolution. THANK YOU! Mr Supervisor Dellisanti, Mr Councilman Ruso and Madame Councilwoman VanEtten.

Benway and Norris voted against it. Why did Benway and Norris vote against a resolution that would allow voters, residents, citizens to tell their elected officials what they’re thinking?

Mr Denis Jordan, the elected New Baltimore Highway Superintendent, was deeply involved in the financial mismanagement scandal uncovered by the New York State Comptroller’s auditors. Jordan was the beneficiary of many of the corrupt practices of the O’Rorke administration. He also doesn’t think it’s necessary for a public official to keep records of anything like purchases, quotations, purchase orders, etc. Mr Jordan also thinks that his job is to do his friends favors and forget the rest of the town. Mr Jordan and his crew think it’s OK to plow for friends but that they shouldn’t plow the Fire Department. Mr Jordan has a very odd view of his job and responsibilities.

GOT SAND? Jordan species of Bedbug

GOT SAND?
Jordan species of Bedbug

It has been procedure in the past to provide town residents with small quantities of sand, if requested. Recently during the storms a resident visited the New Baltimore town garage with a bucket and requested Mr Jordan to provide him with some sand. Mr Jordan refused. His reason: Allegedly the new administration is asking Jordan to request salt purchases using the proper paperwork required by town purchasing policies (ignored by O’Rorke, Benway, Norris, Jordan and Mr Wukitsch) so Mr Jordan is taking out his anger and retaliating against residents by refusing to provide sand. Does that make sense?

Well, a town employee heard Mr Jordan refuse and contacted Supervisor Dellisanti, explaining the incident. Supervisor Dellisanti immediately authorized the sand request and Jordan had to comply. Apparently Jordan was not very happy. Too bad!!!

Our advice to Ms Janet Brooks, New Baltimore Town Clerk, Ms Diane Jordan, New Baltimore Tax Collector, and Mr Denis Jordan, New Baltimore Highway Superintendent: GET WITH THE PROGRAM and WORK WITH THE TEAM or GET READY FOR A RECALL ELECTION!!! YOUR CHOICE!!!

And this time around, the biased and unbalanced treatment by the Hudon-Catskill Newspaper Group and the Johnson Newspaper Corporation won’t be able to ignore the best candidates like they did in November 2013. And there won’t be any biased soppy coverage by Ms Jessica Mosier, the O’Rorke worshipping sockpuppet covering New Baltimore for the unfair and unbalanced Ravena News Herald and the Greene County News, both owned by the Johnson News Paper Corp. (The fact that Mosier is still working for the Johnson Newspapers is clear testimony that John Johnson and his Albany Times Union reject Vince Vinciguerra condone biased and unfair coverage!) This time ’round, come a Recall Election,  it’s gonna be fair, balanced, and legal!

Do ya have them, Bucca? Then show them!

Do ya have them, Bucca? Then show them!

Finally, former Greene County DA Terry Wihelm has left the DA’s office to be a judge. He’s left the Greene County DA’s office in the hands of Charles A. Bucca, who was sworn in on January 2 to be Greene County acting DA. Our initial impression of Bucca is that he’s wishy-washy and really deserved to be “assistant” DA. If he’s really so tough on crime and is worthy of being considered to fill the shoes of District Attorney, he’d better be big enough to tackle local corruption and elected officials’ ethics violations (or hiding his own) rather than picking on the small-fry and the poor—the coward’s way of showing he’s “tough”—, he’ll take the challenge offered to him by some newly elected, ethical local officials and launch a full-scale, big-guns investigation into local government corruption. Maybe he’d like to start with the corruption exposed by the New York State Comptroller’s auditors in their audits of the Town of New Baltimore financial mismanagement on former supervisor O’Rorke’s watch and with the conspiratorial cooperation of councilpersons Lisa Benway and Christopher Norris, together with Highway Superintendent Denis Jordan. Yeah! That would be a good start for Mr Bucca to show he’s got some balls.

(We’d make the same challenge to Albany County DA Soares but it would be useless. Soares should be investigated, prosecuted and convicted himself! Soares is in the pockets of the corrupt officials and is in bed with them. But in Albany County, that’s business as usual. After all, the NYS legislature and Governor Andrew Cuomo spend their time in Albany, don’t they?)

Update: Election returns are in.
Typical of the Ravena News Herald, the returns are not published in the November 6, 2013, edition. The NH has inserted a note at the bottom of page 1 notifying readers/subscribers that the results will be published in next-week’s NH. Again, we’re doing what the Johnson News Paper Corp. and the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers apparently can’t do:
Keep you informed!

How many ways are there for a newspaper to commit suicide?

Brief Recap of the Problem

As we all know, the local newspapers publish the profiles of all the candidates running for office in the issue of the newspaper appearing just prior to Election Day. This year, however, the News Herald and other newspapers that appear in the New Baltimore area refused to publish the Republican, Conservative, Independence party-endorsed candidates Nick Dellisanti, Jeff Russo, Shelly van Etten, Sally Russo and AnnMarie Vadney BUT they did publish a full-page set of profiles for the O’Rorke-5, none-of whom were endorsed by any major party.

On October 18, 2013, in an e-mail sent by Ravena News Herald editor Melanie Lekocevic to candidate AnnMarie Vadney, Lekocevic wrote:”

“I spoke with the editor of the Daily Mail about this. Our New Baltimore reporter, Jessica Mosier, will cover your story. Unfortunately she is away for the weekend and can’t make the Sunday event, but she will contact you next week to do a profile of the candidates. Her story would run in the Daily Mail, the Greene County News and the Ravena News-Herald.”

So, on October 31, 2014, all town of Coeymans candidates and the O’Rorke-5 (O’Rorke, Angelis, Schrauf, Brooks, Jordan) all got coverage in the Ravena News Herald, the Greene County News, and the Daily Mail. Nothing appeared for Dellisanti, Ruso, van Etten, Russo and Vadney. So this blog got involved and started asking questions, particularly of the Johnson Newspaper Corporation and the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers/the Columbia-Green Media Group/the RegisterStar, and e-mailed Lekocevic, and John B. Johnson, chairman of the Johnson Newspaper Corporation (owns the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers), as well as Mark Vinciguierra (formerly director of circulation for the Albany Times Useless), publisher of the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers (Register-Star and Daily Mail, both dailies, as well as the weekly Chatham Courier, Windham Journal, The Mountain Eagle, Ravena News-Herald and Greene County News). We e-mailed John Johnson, Mark Vinciguerra and the other editors and wanted to know Why the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers refused to publish the profiles of the New Baltimore Republican, Conservative and Independence party-endorsed candidates Dellisanti, Ruso, van Etten, Russo and Vadney?

Vinciguerra didn’t bother to respond but his boss did, and what he had to say was tantamount to “Screw you! New Baltimore!”

Here are just a few of John B.  Johnson’s choice expressions to cover his ass over the issue (the full text of Johnson’s comments are published on this blog, just go to the article and select “comments”). John B. Johnson says:

  • “Just because we had plans to do 1:1 interviews and then wasn’t able to fulfill those plans doesn’t mean you need to get your panties in a knot.  Sometimes shit happens and life changes.”
  • “One of our editors told you something and then changed their mind. My goodness, what a terrible transgression.”
  • “Tough cookies, Circumstances change and we adjust.”
  • “Unfortunately, 1 on 1 interviews didn’t work out.”

Meanwhile, Mark Vinciguerra spent more than 20 hours on this blog on November 4-5, and on November 5, Vinciguerra spent more than 7 hours on this blog. His boss, John B. Johnson, spent more than 2 hours reading this blog on November 4. Apparently they spend more time reading this blog than they do their own newspapers. Can’t imagine why? Could it be that the coverage of local issues on this blog are better than you get in the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers rags? You better believe it!

John B. Johnson, Johnson Newspaper Corp.: “Screw you! New Baltimore!” “Tough cookies.”

So, that’s how Johnson and Vinciguerra feel about their responsibilities to these communities:”Don’t get your panties in a knot.” “Tough cookies.” “Sometimes shit happens and life changes.” (Convince yourselves, Johnson’s comments are all published unedited on this blog!)  We think it’s time to show Johnson and Vinciguerra that we don’t appreciate being treated like yesterday’s bowel movement.

Our Response to Smart-ass Johnson and to No-Response Vinciguerra:

John B. Johnson

stick loserHOW DARE YOU DEPRIVE THE VOTERS OF THIS TOWN THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INFORMED ABOUT THE CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE AND THEN TO DISCRIMINATE, TO DARE TO SELECTIVELY PUBLISH THE PROFILES OF ONE GROUP AND NOT THE OTHER. YOU DON’T HAVE THAT RIGHT, YOU DON’T HAVE THAT AUTHORITY. WE AND THIS COMMUNITY WILL PURSUE THIS. BUT FIRST, OUR CALL WILL CONTINUE TO GO OUT TO RESIDENTS OF ALL THE AREA TO BOYCOTT YOUR PUBICATIONS AND TO CANCEL THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS IN PROTEST. FURTHERMORE, WE ARE PUTTING OUT A CALL FOR OUR READERS TO BOYCOTT ANY BUSINESS ADVERTISING IN YOUR PUBLICATIONS UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT YOU AND YOUR PUBLISHER, MR MARK VENCIGUERRA, AND THE EDITORS OF ALL YOUR PUBLICATIONS SOLD IN THE NEW BALTIMORE AREAS ADMIT THE MISTAKE AND ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE CANDIDATES DELLISANTI, RUSO, VAN ETTEN, RUSSO AND VADNEY, AND PUBLISH YOUR APOLOGIES CONSPICUOUSLY IN THE RAVENA NEWS HERALD, THE GREENE COUNTY NEWS AND THE DAILY MAIL!

In the meantime, Mr John B. Johnson and Mr Mark Vinciguerra, you’d better pray real hard that Dellisanti, Ruso, vanEtten, Russo and Vadney take these elections by a landslide because you’ve really gotten us very, very pissed. That, sir, is a big mistake; you’re about to find out the real power of First Amendment free expression.

STAND UP NEW BALTIMORE VOTERS! JOIN US NEIGHBORS IN COEYMANS AND COXSACKIE! FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE FASCIST ARROGANCE OF THE CONTROLLED MEDIA IN OUR COMMUNITIES. FIGHT BACK WITH YOUR CHECKBOOKS AND WALLETS. BOYCOTT THE NEWS HERALD, THE GREENE COUNTY NEWS, THE DAILY MAIL. CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS. PUT PRESSURE ON LOCAL BUSINESSES WHO ADVERTISE IN THOSE RAGS UNTIL STOP BUYING THERE AND TELL THEM WHY! JOHNSON AND VINCIGUERRA APOLOGIZE PUBLICLY TO THE CANDIDATES AND TO THE CITIZENS, THE VOTERS OF THESE COMMUNITIES!

This One's for You, John B. Johnson! Just tell us where you want us to put it!

This One’s for You,
