Why Ravena Village Hall Thumbs Their Noses at the Pubic Officers Law…

The legislature’s purpose in enacting the New York State Freedom of Information Law, PUBLIC OFFICERS LAW, ARTICLE 6 SECTIONS 84-90 FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LAW reads:

“The people’s right to know the process of governmental decision-making and to review the documents and statistics leading to determinations is basic to our society. Access to such information should not be thwarted by shrouding it with the cloak of secrecy or confidentiality. The legislature therefore declares that government is the public’s business and that the public, individually and collectively and represented by a free press, should have access to the records of government in accordance with the provisions of this article.”

We Have A Right To Know!

And they have to tell us! It’s the LAW!

We all know this section of the Public Officers Law as the F.O.I.L. for short, and some of us who have a need or a desire to know the facts behind what our government is doing take full advantage of the legislature’s intent to ensure that the public is informed.

The problem is this: some of our public servants and local government employees do not want us to know what’s going on and so they are constantly placing speed bumps along the information highway. They sometimes stonewall when responding; they sometimes respond in excess by throwing everything but the kitchen sink in the works and then charging twenty-five cents a page for copying it (a form of passive retaliation); they produce as little as possible making it necessary to submit requests again and again (hoping that you’ll get frustrated and stop), or they simply lie and say they don’t have anything you’re requesting. And then they say they’ve contacted Mr Robert Freeman of the Committee on Open Government and he told them they didn’t have to respond.

The seeds of corruption are still in Ravena village hall, right under Mayor Jelly-Fish Moose Misuraca's bulbous nose!He never cleaned house! Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki, and Nancy Warner are still doing their voodoo!

The seeds of corruption are still in Ravena village hall, right under Mayor Jelly-Fish Moose Misuraca’s bulbous nose!
He never cleaned house! Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki, and Nancy Warner are still doing their voodoo!

Sound familiar. It should. Because Ravena, that model of small town corruption and wickedness has used all of those avoidance techniques and others to prevent residents from finding out what they’re doing in village hall. And Mr Robert Freeman, an employee in the New York Department of State, who heads the Committee on Open Government (COOG) and makes a complete farce of the F.O.I.L., takes Ravena’s calls, listens to their fairytales, and tells them they don’t have to disclose. It never occurs to Freeman that the village of Ravena clerks have been lying to him and manipulating him for years; that’s assuming he even cares, since he’s a fixture in state government and gets paid no matter whom he screws over. —He’ll do his damage, retire, and continue sucking up taxpayer dollars. He’s a parasite.—

What’s worse is that unlike the town clerks, the village clerks are appointed not elected. What does that mean to us residents? Well, you see, Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki, the current village of Ravena clerks, were appointed by the former mummy-mayor John Bruno and his sidekick hatchet-woman Nancy Warner. Now that Bruno is out, Warner is still there keeping her loyal minions under control and terrorized.  Bruno ran the village offices by strong-arming people and Warner was his sidekick, and made certain everyone played the game or got fired. So it is that Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki survived in village hall because they knew how to take orders and play the game. Even with the election of jellyfish William “Moose” Misuraca and his majority on the village council, he hasn’t made many changes—he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on and even if he did he probably wouldn’t have the brains to do anything about it, and Nancy Warner is still there running the show, calling the shots, and oiling the internal workings, which includes running Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki.

Remember also that Nancy Warner and Cathy Deluca are bosom buddies, and Nancy Warner was instrumental in creating the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and handing it over to Cathy Deluca. As long as Nancy Warner is between the axe and the Ravena Health and Fitness Center (Cathy Deluca’s playpen), it’s going to be hard to eliminate both the RHFC and Deluca—but very possible.

So let’s look at a real-life scenario where a resident requests disclosure of information on Guess what? Yup, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center (abbreviated RHFC) by submitting a Freedom of Information Law request for information. The request is for information on the income and finances and monthly figures on memberships of the RHFC. Another request was for the costs for the Ravena Centennial Celebration and how many tickets were sold and how many tickets were given away. All of this information is public access but not in Ravena.

Nancy Warner Clutching Her Chest

Nancy Warner Clutching Her Chest

So the resident submits the requests and Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki get it first. They then go to Nancy Warner to ask her what she wants done with it. Nancy Warner goes pale, clutches her chest, seems to be having an orgasm, and then calls Cathy Deluca who it just happens is the manager of the RHFC, and just happens to be the chairperson and organizer of the Ravena Centennial Celebration. Deluca, when she hears the news, like Nancy Warner, goes pale, clutches her chests, and has an orgasm. Their response: No way! José! We can’t let anyone with half of a brain have any of that stuff; it’ll send us all to Albany County Jail! They have to find a way to refuse to disclose the information, after all it’s a week before elections, and if this stuff gets out, they and anyone connected with them are dead in the water (Right, Tom Dolan?)!

Deluca after the orgasm

Cathy Deluca after the Orgasm

So they cook up some lame-brain excuse why they can’t or won’t provide the documents:

  • You have not picked up previous documents and paid the $4.25.
  • You have not picked up previous documents and paid the $19.00

But both are clear evidence of Annette Demitraszek’s and Kristine Biernacki’s stupidity, and how Nancy Warner doesn’t care how stupid she makes her underlings look, as long as they can prevent the information getting out to the public! (Well, you don’t think for a minute that former Ravena mayor John Bruno or Nancy Warner appointed people who wouldn’t follow orders, do you? And if they weren’t complete slaves to Bruno and Warner, how long do you think they would last? So of course they’re not going to rock the boat or do anything to piss Nancy Warner off, they’d be history. So like the greedy rodents they are, Demitraszek and Biernacki stay cogs in the machine, violate the law, and stay employed in village hall.)

In the first case, Nancy Warner, through Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki, first refused to produce documents requested way back in July 2013 first writing:

“Please be advised that your request for legal services payments does not reasonably describe records in our possession because our vouchers are fiiled in chronological order not by subject.”

If anyone can make sense out of that illiterate statement we’d be grateful for a translation! So what! You can’t find your documents? Or you won’t look for the documents? But that didn’t work very well so they tried this:

“This is to acknowledge receipt of your demand for disclosure dated July 9, 2013 and to inform you that it has been forwarded to the appropriate department.  We are expecting to grant your request in whole or in part by July 23.”

“Forwarded to the appropriate department”? How many departments are there in village hall? It’s the clerk/treasurer who has the requested documents! And its the clerk/treasurer who is forwarding the F.O.I.L. demand to the “appropriate department”? Now which department could that have been, we wonder? Could it have been the Department of Mayor Bruno’s Office (he was still in office at the time) or the Department of Nancy Warner?

So when that lame and transparent attempt to stonewall failed, they then wrote back:

We have been informed by COOG [Committee on Open Government, Bob Freeman] that the complexity of the issues involved in determining whether the materials fall within one of the exceptions to disclosure on item #1-3 will take a significant amount of time.  They advised us to give you a time frame of 90 to 120 days, which would put us into the fall.

The couldn’t squirm out of having to comply so they claim the COOG “informed” them that the “complexity” of the issues would take a “significant amount of time”. What issues could they be, Nancy Warner? Your corruption and thieving? How complex can the issues be? The requester wanted documents that any normal office would have in a filing cabinet ready to go. But the issues are really complex when you consider the corruption under the Bruno administration; they’re still pretty complex, it seems, under the Misuraca administration. Misuraca ran under the slogan “Change!” but only the faces changed, the corruption is still there. When the village of Ravena refused to respond to the FOIL requests, the requester then filed a Notice of Claim, required before filing a lawsuit against the village, and when they didn’t respond by scheduling a hearing to safeguard their rights—rather the rights of Ravena taxpayers and residents, who will have to pay the lawyers and pay for the village’s defense—, the requester then wrote:

“Dear Clerk:
On or about August 15, 2013, the village of Ravena was served with a Notice of Claim by my agent for violations of the NYS F.O.I.L.
As of today’s date, I have not been served with notice of the 50-h hearing date nor with written notice from the village of Ravena to the effect that the village of Ravena waives its right to said 50-h hearing.
Please advise in writing of the village of Ravena’s intentions before lapse of the 90 period allowed for exercising the municipality’s right to 50-h prior to filing my suit at law.
I will not accept e-mail notification of the village of Ravena’s intentions.”

It's Enough to Make a Rat Blush!

It’s Enough to Make a Rat Blush!

The village of Ravena did not respond and did not take advantage of the opportunity to hold the hearing to gather facts about the claim. In other words, they failed to protect their rights and to safeguard the rights of Ravena taxpayers! Why would they do that? you might well ask? Because they were not going to let the information get out there before the 2013 elections knowing how it would incriminate the Bruno administration! They lost anyway.

Coconspirators & Losers: Nancy'Warner's Former Team.

Co-conspirators & Losers: Nancy Warner’s Former Team. Losers: Rocco Persico, John Bruno, Martin Case

But the resident still has time to file the lawsuit against Ravena—and we have information that s/he will file the lawsuit in federal court because the case also involves violations of federal law—adding that to the current violations of the Public Officers Law.

You see, normally the documents responding to a FOIL request can be provided almost immediately when the offices keep their records in order or are not afraid to let the information out. Twenty days after a request is considered fair. But 120 days after a request for a small operation like Ravena is downright ridiculous and is such a glaring attempt to conceal that they’re sure to lose a lawsuit! Who in their right mind would want the information so late anyway? It’s deader than dead, staler than stale!

You see, in that case, Warner’s stonewalling actually kept the responder from actually getting the information for the purposes s/he needed it. Would you have paid $4.25 for something useless, 120 days (4 months) after you needed it? Well, as it turns out, there were other ways to get the message out and that’s what happened. The Result: Bruno, Persico, Case, all Warner’s allies on the village council, got their walking papers in the November 2013 elections. The lesson dumbass bimbos like Nancy Warner should have learned is that they can’t keep the truth from getting out with crooked tactics. The Truth will get out.

As for the second lame-brain excuse for not producing the documents in response to the most recent request about the membership figures and income for the RHFC and the accounting for the Ravena Centennial Celebration, Demitraszek’s and Biernacki’s stupidity is again glaringly obvious!

In this case they claim that they assembled the requested documents and copied them but the requester never picked up the copies. Well, if they had read the original request — assuming those bimbos can read — they would have read:

“Please notify this requester when the documents responding to this request have been assembled. The requestor will then make an appointment to review said documents, and request that copies be made of any documents deemed to be sufficiently responsive.

“And you will certainly have noted our remark in that same e-mail:

If you proceeded to make copies of documents you presumed to be responsive, it seems you may have failed to read the demand in its entirety.”

Ravena's Jellyfish Mayor

Ravena’s Jellyfish Mayor

So Demitraszek and Biernacki made a mistake, didn’t read the clear instructions in the FOIL demand and now are trying to turn things around and use their error to avoid producing the documents requested in the most recent request! Congratulations, Ravena! Your new mayor, monkey-mayor William “Moose the Jellyfish” Misuraca, never cleaned house and now has John T. Bruno’s rodents, Nancy Warner, Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki still doing their voodoo in village hall. Actually, it’s Nancy Warner protecting her partner-in-crime Cathy Deluca and their illegal money pit, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center. But the writing is on the wall: The Ravena Health and Fitness Center, Cathy Deluca’s illegal playpen, the moneypit that is losing money and sucking up taxpayer dollars to the tune of more than $105,000 plus, is on the chopping block. If Misuraca doesn’t cut that scandalous money pit from the Ravena village budget for 2015, he and his village council deserve to be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail!

An so the, street talk is that Nancy Warner is not going to embarass herself by running for Ravena trustee again; she’s sure to lose the election — and if her husband, Ravena village court parasite, Harold “Hal” Warner, corrupt ex-Albany cop who was condemned to a desk job in Albany for his civil rights abuses, of course later made a village justice so he could continue his abuses of civil rights — thinks he’s going to be re-elected, he’s dumber than we had previously thought. Back to Nancy Warner: So she has to do her damnedest to keep things rolling for at least another year for her protegée Cathy Deluca. But even so, Nancy Warner will still retire from village hall with a pension; she may get to keep all she managed to pilfer and still collect taxpayer dollars. She’s a parasite and we’ll still be paying her when she’s gone, unless we get her, Bruno, and their cronies convicted, and punished for their crimes against this community for more than 25 years! Same is true of that parasite bottle-blond bimbo Cathy Deluca!

But we see through their cheap tricks and we will support our neighbors’ rights to get the information out of that brothel they call Ravena village hall, even if their municipal jellyfish-pimp Misuraca just wants to sit there stroking his tentacles. You see, Misuraca and all elected officials owe their loyalty to the constituency, to the voters and taxpayers of this community, village and town. They don’t owe loyalty to their crooked friends down the hall, like Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner. Cathy Deluca and Nancy Warner will to the same thing that Jerry Dirty-Hands Deluca and his bosom buddy Gregory Darlington did: like the rats they are, they sucked what they could out of this community and then jumped ship. Wake the hell up, Misuraca! Where are your loyalties, Mayor Misuraca? Do we even have to ask that question?

So-o-o-o….

Unless the village of Ravena responds to the most recent demand for disclosure of records relating to the income and expenditures of the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and to the costs and revenues of the Ravena Centennial Celebration, this blog will assist a number of residents who have experienced the village of Ravena’s stonewalling tactics in filing first a Notice of Claim for violation of New York State laws and federal laws, as well as residents’ civil and protected rights, followed by a lawsuit that will force them to comply and to pay damages. We hope also that they will lose all or part of their pensions for their criminal activities.

If you have had experiences similar to these, please send us your name and contact information so we can discuss your case with you and whether it makes sense for you to join the other residents in filing the Notice of Claim and the lawsuit against the village of Ravena, Nancy Warner, Annette Demitraszek and Kristine Biernacki, William Misuraca, and John Bruno. Contact us at rcs.confidential@gmail.com. We intend also to go after Mr Robert Freeman and the Committee on Open Government through the NYS Attorney General and the Office of the Comptroller for Mr Freeman’s abuse of office and complicity with the unlawful and illegal abuse of public office we observe in the village of Ravena municipal government operations.  We never publish your personal details or the information you provide without first obtaining your consent. Ravena Health and Fitness Center: Year One = Miserable Failure!!!

Village of Ravena Mayor, Village Council Continue to Do Voo-Doo Management: Ravena Health and Fitness Center Deep is in the RED; Cathy Deluca’s the Only One Smiling on Her Way to the Bank!!!

In late 2012, former Mayor of the Village of Ravena, John T. Bruno (defeated), his hatchet woman Nancy Biscone-Warner, and the morons on the former Village of Ravena village council, Nancy Biscone-Warner, Martin Case (defeated), Rocco Persico (defeated), William “Bill” Bailey, in a behind-closed-doors conspiracy with Cathy Deluca, wife of former disgraced Coeymans cop “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca (now the CEO/Exec. Dir. of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs), decided to purchase  used fitness equipment more than $40,000 in taxpayer dollars  from a Ravena insider, Robert “Bob” Fisk (His son is now operating the new Fisk’s Variety garbage shop on Main Street, Ravena, site of the former Teen Center. Josie Biscone-Bruno of Prudential Real Estate, made the deal with the Teen Center on behalf of Fisk. A real insider operation if there ever was one.). The public was not consulted on that purchase. (See our article, for example, “A Senile, Demented Brain Gives Birth: You Pay Again!“)

Total Income for the RHFC for 2013-2014 Doesn’t Even Cover Cathy Deluca’s Salary!!!!

Cathy Deluca on the way to the bank while Ravena taxpayers look on.

Cathy Deluca on the way to the bank while Ravena taxpayers look on.

Then in 2013, again behind closed doors Bruno, Warner, and Deluca got together to create the Ravena health and Fitness Center in the space previously occupied by the RCS Community Library, and after a scandalous and disgraceful dog-and-pony act, raising the library’s rent for the space more than $700 a month and under threats of eviction, the library’s new home was final finished by Don Persico (cousin of the then sitting Ravena village council member, Rocco Persico), and in May, 2013, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center had its “open house,” and the appointed insider director, Cathy Deluca, managed to open her big mouth and expose the village of Ravena to a potentially very expensive lawsuit. (See our article, “Criminal Complaint: Catherine M. Deluca a.k.a. Cathy Deluca, Claude A. Wheeles, Ravena Health and Fitness Center“)

Later, the gang of five calling itself the Ravena village council, submit incomplete and fraudulent paperwork to get Cathy Deluca a non-competitive civil service classification to be director of the Ravena Health and Fitness Center. Cathy Deluca had no qualifications to be director and, by the way, had already mismanaged at least two previous “health clubs” to ruination and failure, including the very health club run by Bob Fisk and the source of the used fitness equipment purchased with taxpayer money but no public inputs. (Read more on this at
Who is “Cathy Deluca”? and “Bruno, Deluca, Warner Squirming to Cover It Up“)

In the 2013-2014 Village of Ravena Budget, the Gang-of-Five approved more than $105,000 of taxpayer money to fund the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, paying Cathy Deluca more than $30,000 a year plus full benefits.

The Village of Ravena village council under mayor William “Moose” Misuraca and his running mates councilmen Joel Coye and Keith Mahler and two leftovers from Bruno’s scandalous quarter century in office, Nancy Biscone-Warner and William “Bill” Bailey, approved the 2014-2015 Village of Ravena Budget, allocating another more than $105,000 to fund the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and, in that same budget, approved a pay-raise of more than $900 for Cathy Deluca.

Misuraca, Coye, Mahler Ran on a Promise of Financial Responsibility, Accountability, Transparency BUT ….

It now is obvious that only the faces have changed. After a really disappointing kick-off of the Centennial celebrations with an embarassing so-called parade that was preceded by an embarrassing watermain break on the parade route (Cathy Deluca chaired the Centennial Committee that organized the parade), we have been provided with documents secured by a resident under the provisions of the New York State Freedom of Information Law, that clearly show that the Ravena Health and Fitness Center MUST GO!

According to the monthly reports prepared by Cathy Deluca and submitted to the Ravena village council, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center is failing badly and hemorrhaging moneyhemorrhaging money right into Cathy Deluca’s pockets. Here are the figures (available to anyone on demand in the Ravena village clerk’s office):

Cathy Deluca and an Ignorant Village Council Hemorrhaging Money

Cathy Deluca and an Ignorant Village Council Hemorrhaging Money

(Editor’s Note:  The figures for May 2014 were not available so in the table above, to be fair, we took the average figures for the previous 11 months and used them for the month of May 2014. This was really very optimistic—and very generous—, considering the drastic decline in membership figures over the period.  Not included in the above figures is $2,040.00 for “Tabata Bootcamp” in March 2014. According to unconfirmed information, an employee of the RHFC is being paid extra to do that class. Although we have attempted to include everything possible in the figures above, the picture is bleak, very bleak.)

Back in July 2013, in our article, “Ravena & Risk – Taking: Is it really the role of municipal government?” we wrote:

“Just to break even, the fitness center would have to attract about 425 – 450 paying members; that means, Ravena and the surrounding area would have to attract at least 425 persons who would be willing to fork over between $250–300 a year to join the fitness center, which pales in comparison to other local chain centers with all the facilities like tanning, certified trainers, fitness programs, ultra – modern equipment, men’s and women’s changing rooms, showers, swimming pools, etc. The Ravena Health and FitnessCenter has none of these but membership is far more expensive than any of the major local clubs. So where are these 425 – 450 members going to come from in Ravena or Coeymans? Answer: They aren’t!”

Now we can write:

we_told_you_so

In the First Year of Operation Deluca has Attracted less than 3% of Ravena Residents; Total income for the RHFC doesn’t even add up to Deluca’s salary for the period.

The membership numbers in the above table are a very misleading for the months of May 2013−February 2014 because Ms Deluca did not break down the membership figures into 12-month, 6-month, per-visit, etc. but lumped them all together, giving the false impression that people were actually joining. In March and April 2014, Deluca started breaking down the “membership” figures, and it looks like 1 year memberships for Marchtotaled only 97 members  with only 1 new member in March, and in April 2014 the RHFC had a total of only 103 1-year members. (The 11 new members shown in the table for May is our overly-generous manipulation of the statistics to guestimate a number for May, based on the average for the preceding 11 months. Obviousy, 11 is much to high!)  There were 16 six-month members in March and that figure remained unchanged in April 2014. There are several other “categories” of members that go into Deluca’s misleading totals but the bottom line is that in the first year of operation, memberships are dropping and so are revenues. In the entire first year of operation, the Ravena Health and Fitness center has attracted less than 3% of Ravena residents to join. The numbers don’t lie: Out of about 1930 Ravena residents in the age group eligible for membership (18-65 year olds) Deluca, despite her spending on advertising, has been able to attract only about 100 members (some of whom are not Ravena residents). In percent of eligible residents that’s only 5% or 1 out of every 20 eligible residents, who would likely use a fitness club,. That’s pretty paltry performance.

Do the math: It’s costing Ravena $1,000 a year for each of Cathy Deluca’s members who are paying only about $250 a year in membership dues and purchases at the RHFC. Does anyone see a problem here? Obviously, Mr Mayor “Moose” Misuraca doesn’t . Mr Misuraca: What if at the Ravena Halfway House tavern you had to pay $10.00 for every $2.50 your customers spend? How long would you stay in business?

But instead of spending more time trying to make her RHFC playpen work, she’s grabbing other things, like trying to be chairperson of the Ravena Centennial—and screwing that up, too!

In fact, for the entire year of operation the total deposits made by the Ravena Health and Fitness Center are less than what the village is paying Cathy Deluca to mismanage the faclility! Deluca is pulling more than $30,000 plus full benefits; the RHFC brought less than $29,000.00!!! And that doesn’t include other salaries, equipment, operating expenses. The RHFC doesn’t even pay rent or utilities and it’s still losing more than $75,000 of taxpayer money in the first year!!!

ONE GLARING QUESTION YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASKING YOURSELVES: WHY IS THE RAVENA HEALTH AND FITNESS CENTER STILL THERE???

Why is it still there Mr Misuraca, Mr Coye, Mr Mahler, Ms Warner, Mr Bailey?

Don’t you ever wonder why the Ravena News Herald and the Albany Times Union never seem to pick up on these stories. They sorta get swept under the carpet. Why not ask  Bryan Rowzee, Melanie Lekocevic, Marlene McTique, or the head honchos at the Johnson Newspaper Group, John Johnson or Mark Vinciguerra why they don’t come clean with some investigations and some reporting on these crooks?

A New Age Dawns for Ravena!!!

The Moose Slams the Mummy Almost 2:1 Victory in the Ravena Mayoral Race!

The smalbany blog does it again! This is the third local election that this blog seems to have turned around in favor of the communities we serve! Thanks to our community contributors, we get the word out.

But we don’t deserve all of the credit, either!

Ravena has a new mayor: Republican Bill Misuraca Jr., defeated incumbent mayor John Bruno, a Democrat, 535-302. Misuraca, 41, will serve a four-year term. His Republican running mates for the two village trustee seats, Joel Coye and Keith Mahler, also won, defeating the incumbent Democrats Martin R. Case and Rocco Persico.

Results in the trustees race were Mahler, 548; Coye, 490; Case, 360; and Persico, 333.

The Bruno tyranny is ended, long live the Moose!

Barbara Cumm’s ingenious strategy in selecting a winning team from local business and community servants was a real winner! Cumm’s experience and wisdom has paid off again!

Well done, Barbara, Moose, Joel, Keith!

Well done, Barbara, Moose, Joel, Keith!

The Bruno tyranny is ended, long live the Moose! We have to hand the laurels to the Misuraca campaign because they did an incredibly great job of campaigning and public relations, starting with the unique and catchy moose signs throughout the area. The team was on the street pounding pavement and knocking on doors. A real down-to-earth, sincere campaign!

“We want to make the town more business-friendly,” Misuraca said. “We want to work more closely with the school district and try to restore some of the community pride and kind of give our Main Street a face lift.”

Although we’re not quite certain what the office of the mayor of Ravena has or should have to do with the RCS Central School District, we do want to caution Mr Mayor-elect Moose that there is plenty to be done in Ravena without getting involved with the RCS Central School District. And we recommend that mayor-elect Moose concentrate on the job at hand, which will be overwhelming if taken seriously: that is the job of rebuilding Ravena as a community. Leave the RCS Central School District alone; they have $42 million to play with and they’re not sharing it with Ravena (Matt Miller and the tearchers union will see to that). The office of mayor has nothing to do with the school district. If mayor-elect Moose and his village council want to get involved with youth, the Village of Ravena can fund some student/youth programs (once it gets rid of the illegal money pit, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center and Bruno’s pet Cathy Deluca).

If it appears you can’t control your own household how can residents expect you to run a village?

We do want to repeat our warning we issued at the start of the campaign: Jena Misuraca is the wife of the mayor-elect and should stay out of Village Hall. This talk of involvement with the school district sounds like a Mrs Mayor project and should be shelved immediately; it has nothing to do with governing Ravena. The voters elected Bill “Moose” Misuraca, not Jena Misuraca (and we don’t believe she ran for any trustee seats, either). If it appears you can’t control your own household how can residents expect you to run a village? If Mrs Mayor appears to be getting over-involved in village government because her husband was elected to be mayor, it could spell embarassment and problems for the new administration. Nip it in the bud, NOW!

All being said, we have to look on the dark side of things, too. Bruno has threatened to leave nothing in village hall for the new team to work with. According to a source who requested anonymity, Bruno has threatened to take his “years of hard work” with him and not to leave a scrap in village hall. Well, Mr Bruno, if you tamper or mess with anything in village hall, even remove a scrap of paper before you leave — we may be well advised to check with the office of the attorney general to see if such a threat might get Bruno evicted early from his office or have some security to check his briefcase and do a pat-down every day he’s in village hall — we’ll be on his hairy butt in a New York minute. Bruno was paid for his so-called demolition work while mayor and anything he did while mayor was paid for in full. Bruno has no personal or other claim to anything in village hall. Even any awards may be village property. So be careful, Mr Bruno, you lost the election and you need to leave village hall naked—or maybe with a little tar and some feathers, just to give you a good sending off.

One of the first things we’d like to see is for the new team to get rid of that money-pit the Ravena health and Fitness Center, sell the junk to recoup some of the village taxpayers’ money and re-allocate the money to fund a youth activities center or something the village needs! Now that we have the human element back in village government, we can look forward to bringing families and opportunity back to Ravena. We’ll need programs to accommodate the new community members.

Another matter that needs the new mayor’s immediate attention are the many Notices of Claim recently filed against the village. It would be of significant benfit and a sign of good will if the Village were to attempt to settle the most serious of the claims pending BEFORE they go to full filing in state and federal courts — We know for certain that several high-profile, high value claims are pending filing as we write. (The same would apply to the Town of Coeymans, against whom there are several major claims pending.) The Notices of Claim are a Bruno legacy (made possible by the idiocy of Nancy Warner and Cathy Deluca) that you are inheriting and should seek to resolve before they are filed in state and federal court. A little good will goes a long way.

Something else we’d like to see is a cleaner, leaner village hall. Mayor Moose and his team have to get rid of the Bruno lackies, including Cathy Deluca, and the other parasites. Clean house, Moose! Fumigate the place and get rid of all the vermin. It’s the only way you can get a clean start!

The Moose and his team now have the majority on the village council. Next time around we get rid of Nancy Warner and that dolt Bill Bailey. But for now, Great Job! Congratulations to Barb Cumm and to the new blood in village hall, Bill “Moose” Misuraca, Keith Mahler, and Joel Coye!

Welcome, Mr Mayor Moose!

Letter to the Editor: Ravena Damage Control

On occasion, some readers’ comments are just so good and so on-topic that we think they should be published on their own as free-standing articles. With this in mind, we’ll be publishing what we call “Letters to the Editor,” similar to those you’d read in any of the local rags, but much more informative and honest, of course.

This letter-to-the-editor is one of a two-part series that we think you’ll really enjoy, especially in this pre-election run-up period in Ravena. When reading these letters, you may want to ask you why these commonsense actions haven’t been taken already by the incumbent Bruno gang. They’ve had several decades to to it but haven’t done a damned thing. So here goes!

Letter-to-the-Editor1

To the Editor:

In response to your email, following you will find the two postings I finally posted today. Hopefully people will take a look.
I had also recently posted two others. Thanks for what you do.
A Concerned ‘Outsider’

Hi Again and Thanks for the opportunity to post here.

I am happy to see a contested race for Mayor of Ravena-the residents deserve it.
I am writing this-long overdue-as a possible hot potato in the current Mayoral and Village Board races.

No matter where we live, it would be great to see municipal property be returned to the tax rolls, minimize governmental use of property, see some good old fashioned common sense applied to the way our governments are run-they are ours, after all!

Close to home, I suggest the following:

 1.         The Village of Ravena Public Works Department relocate from the West Shore Street location to the area near the former landfill at the end of, I believe, Edna Avenue, where the Village maintains ownership of the property. Of course they would need to erect a building to house the equipment but that would be a small price to pay to have such desirable Rail Road siding property put back on the tax rolls and offer business a chance to have at it. Location-wise, there probably is not that much difference in miles traveled and the Edna Avenue property would be put to good use, that is, being occupied.

2.         The Town of Coeymans should approach the Village of Ravena petitioning for the Village to contract with the Town. Residents outside the Village could receive services already afforded Village residents, like grass and brush pickup, stump removal along the right of way and the like. The Village could use the income and the residents could use the service. The Village already has the equipment so the cost should not be too much.

3.         The Village should divest itself of the property on the corner of Main Street and Pulver Avenue and return it to the tax roll. The assumption here is that the property ‘belongs’ to the Village and if it does not, then the grotto-like structure there seems to indicate it does and should be removed. Nothing else need be said here.

4.         Both the Village and the Town should have a ‘must bid’ local law on the books for all products and services to assure the residents are getting the best value for the least money.

5.         The Village and the Town need to work with the County and/or the State to find a solution to the necessary for business heavy truck traffic on Main Street—nothing is being done by the Village or the Town, and it is only a matter of time before the unthinkable happens. The current Village parking lots on Central Avenue and on Main Street at least give those who have to walk the last mile to their destination a chance but a more basic idea is needed. As mentioned, the truck traffic is necessary for business, but it is surely not suited for a very narrow and curvy Main Street.

There’s more but later.
Again, Thanks for the posting space.
Pundit

We have to ask what the John T. Bruno and his flying monkeys have been doing all these years. We know and you know, so what’s the use of asking a question we all know the answer to? Bruno’s been in office for more than 20 years and his rat-pack in the last decade or so have done NOTHING except intimidate, tax, retaliate, drive out residents and businesses, and pad their friends’ pockets with plum jobs (like Cathy Deluca and the Ravena Health and Fitness Center a.k.a. Cathy’s Playpen) at your expense. Up until now, the town of Coeymans board has been almost as bad but the Coeymanazi police department has taken up the slack, and has been draining the town of Coeymans for a bundle, and then the crooks retire and get pensions you pay for; the Coeymanazi p.d. has even collaborated with the Bruno mob. Ravena can’t take much more without dropping into the river. That’s why Ravena voters have to put a stop to the stupidity and put Bruno, Case and Persico on the street. Next year voters can make housekeeping complete by dumping Nancy Warner and Bill Bailey. Only when you fumigate the house and get all the vermin out will there be any chance at all of revitalizing Ravena. One of the first steps to be taken by the new Ravena administration is to close that money pit, the Ravena Health and Fitness Center! and send Cathy Deluca packing or to jail (she’s still got to answer for civil rights violations and falsely reporting an incident)! That $100,000 plus can be better spent elsewhere!

Pundit is a frequent commenter and reader. We think he’s been in local government in the past because he knows an awful lot about the people and events. He also thinks like a good administrator should think. But we’d like to hear what YOU think about Pundit’s letter. Please leave a comment.

A New Baltimore Resident’s Letter to the Editor: Benway, Norris Obstructing the Board?

New Baltimore Boardmembers Benway and Norris Obstructing Efficient Town Business Policies, Town Clerk Brooks Opposes Set Office Hours and Misinforms the Board, the Public, and Wants More Money; New Baltimore Highway Superintendent Denis Jordan Can’t Keep Accurate Figures or Records!

A New Baltimore Resident’s Concern Expressed in a Letter to the Editor

Letter-to-the-Editor1

New Baltimore Residents need to read this letter and start taking more responsibility in participating in their town’s government! They’ve been screwed royally in the past and some in town hall—not to mention any names but specifically Lisa Benway and Christopher Norris, town clerk Janet Brooks, and highway superintendent Denis Jordan, and others (like Diane Lewis)—want to continue the misinformation, indifference, lies, and unlawful practices!

February 22, 2014

To my fellow taxpayers and residents in the Town of New Baltimore:

I would like to update you on recent activities in our Town Hall and encourage all members of our community to attend the Town Board Meetings.  The meetings are on the second and fourth Monday of each month and the next meeting is scheduled for March 10, 2014.

As you know, the newly elected Supervisor (Mr. Dellisanti) and board members (Ms. Van Ettan, Mr. Ruso) since January 2014 have been actively working to address many outstanding issues left by the previous administration such as purchasing practices, transparency, and issues affecting taxpayers.

I would like to address several issues that have been brought to the Board for action but have been delayed by the boardmembers, Ms Benway and Mr Norris, carry – overs – in – office from the previous administration. Members of the community can only assume, based on Ms Benway’s and Mr Norris’ conduct, that their allegiance is not to the taxpayers and our community. Therefore your participation is needed.

The previous administration may have had policies on the books (procurement/F.O.I.L.) but Ms. O’Rourke, Ms. Benway, Mr. Norris, Ms. Brooks, Mr. Jordan all  chose not follow that law – based policy,  which is in part required by New York state law. The newly elected officials, supervisor Dellisanti, boardmembers Ruso and vanEtten, propose policy to carry out state and federal mandates that all elected/appointed local government officials must comply with.

Procurement Policy

In January Mr. Dellisanti presented to the Board a Resolution to implement a revised Procurement Policy that includes a purchase requisition process, which when implemented should prevent future misuse of funds by the officials and employees of the Town of New Baltimore.  Mr Delisanti, Ms Van Ettan, and Mr Ruso voted in favor of this resolution.  Mr Norris and Ms Benway voted AGAINST the resolution to adopt that Procurement Policy.  Under the O’Rorke regime, these two board members with the collaboration of the O’Rorke Majority (O’Rorke, Benway, Norris)  of the previous administration spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money illegally, this is a fact based on the New York State Comptroller’s Audit Report. One would think they would jump at the opportunity to protect the taxpayers’ dollars as well as protect themselves from allegations of unlawful or even criminal activity.

At the February 10, 2014, meeting town attorney Tal Rappleyea provided a synopsis of the Policy and  further clarification.  The Revised Procurement Policy requires the use of purchase orders/requisitions that would include details such as bids and prices of proposed products and services, in order to justify that purchase. Ms Benway and Mr Norris consistently to question the need for such practices.  In fact at the February 10th meeting, Mrs. Benway again expressed her concern for their use! [Editor’s Note: The use of purchase orders / requisitions and justification of need, plus documentation of competitive bidding is just plain good business practice, ensuring that the interests of the public are safeguarded, and public monies are spent responsibly! It’s part of transparency and accountability, something apparently alien to Benway and Norris!]

At that same February 10th town board meeting Mr Dellisanti proposed a resolution- to Adopt Minor Corrections to the Procurement Policy to correct the typographical errors in the previously approved Procurement Policy Resolution; both Mr Norris and Ms Benway voted against the corrections!  [Editor’s Note: It sounds to us that Norris and Benway are just being difficult, wasting the board’s time, and ignoring the real needs of the town. They’re abusing their public office!]

Resolution to Adopt FOIL Policy

Based on the many complaints from the community, the previous Administration, former supervisor O’Rourke, and town clerk Janet Brooks had a very distorted and perverse view of compliance with NYS Freedom of Information Law.  At the February 10, 2014 town board meeting, Ms Diane Lewis, chair of the New Baltimore Democratic Committee and wife/confidential secretary to former town supervisor David Lewis,  voiced  from the audience that a F.O.I.L. policy already existed. [Editor’s Note: To be honest, Lewis has no standing to comment on what policies exist, don’t exist or exist and must be amended; Diane Lewis, despite her arrogance, is not on the board and is just one of us now. So cool your jets, Diane!]  Based on the many complaints from the public, town clerk – Mrs. Janet Brooks, seems to be unaware of this existing policy, or does not understand it, or just doesn’t follow it!

The FOIL policy during the previous administration was ignored as was the procurement policy.

Based on information from the February 10th meeting, the purpose of the revised FOIL policy is to provide a more comprehensive and detailed description of the Town’s responsibility to provide information in a timely and comprehensive manner when demands for disclosure under the provisions of the New York State Freedom of Information Act are received by the town clerk.  Among other things, the policy also re-identifies that it is the Town Clerk’s responsibility to respond to these requests based on timeframes established by the law, to keep a record of each request, and report to the Board on F.O.I.L. requests received.

At the February 10, 2014 meeting Mr. Norris and Mrs. Benway questioned the purpose of the Resolution and were very concerned as to whether or not Mrs. Brooks, the Town Clerk was involved in the preparation of the Resolution.  [Editor’s Note: There is no requirement or necessity for the Town Clerk to be involved in such a resolution. The resolution is a governing activity and is under the sole authority of the town board. The town clerk’s obligation and duty is to comply with the town board’s legislation and the law of New York! Besides, the board would have to catch her when she’s in, and that could be a problem, given her hours.] We the community must remind Ms Benway and Mr Norris that under Town Law the BOARD has the authority to prepare and adopt policy. We further remind Ms Benway and Mr Norris, and if necessary, Ms Brooks, that the CLERK has the obligation to comply with resolutions duly passed by the board. If the clerk has a question it should be presented like anyone else during public session and in the time allowed.  It should also be noted that  Mrs. Brooks’ known previous performance clearly demonstrates that not only did she not follow the simplistic policy of the O’Rorke Administration, she never took the initiative to ensure the taxpayers obtained requested information based on New York state law.  Under the NYS Town Law and as an elected official, Ms Brooks has the duty and responsibility to understand her duties and role as town clerk, to be responsive to the public no matter what directive she may have received from others, particularly if such directive was contrary to policy or law!

It should be noted that Ms Brooks, at the December 2013 Board Meeting, expressed on the record how she could not keep up with the high volume of FOIL requests and recommended that the public be charged more money for their requests.  [Editor’s Note: Why more money, Ms Brooks? Should we dock you for the hours you don’t show up for work and apply that to offset the cost of fulfilling F.O.I.L. requests?] Ms O’Rorke, Mr Norris and David Wukitsch (then town attorney, since fired) supported her dilemma.  Individuals attending that meeting asked how many F.O.I.L. request Mrs. Brooks had received – she DID NOT KNOW!  Mrs. Brooks advised “that it was difficult to know” and  O’Rorke, Norris, Benway, Wukitsch supported her confusion and ignored residents’ questions!  This discussion was approximately 30 + minutes and Ms. Brooks had no factual information to support her claim nor did the O’Rorke board request it. Surprising?

At the meeting of February 10, 2014, Mr Norris advised that he had not had time to read the four – page F.O.I.L. policy so he requested vote be postponed.   No time to read 4 pages, Mr Norris? Incredible! Mr Dellisanti tabled (put it on the agenda for vote at a later date) the vote on the F.O.I.L. Resolution until the February 24, 2014 Town Board Meeting  to provide Mr. Norris ample time to read four pages.  [Editor’s Note: We do admit that Mr Norris has in the past allegedly suffered some psychiatric or psychological problems but let’s hope Mr Norris managed to get through that incredible volume of reading before the vote! Just what we needed: another Denis Jordan!]

Please note:  board member Van Etten identified that in 2013 ONLY NINE FOILS WERE SUBMITTED TO THE TOWN. [Editor’s Note: Geez, Ms Brooks, that’s mindboggling! How do you ever manage such a volume? Maybe you need another deputy clerk? Maybe more money? Nine F.O.I.L. requests in 2013 and you couldn’t manage. Poor kitten!]

RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH HOURS OF THE TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE was presented to the Board by Supervisor Dellisanti on February 10, 2014

Although the newly hired town legal advisor confirmed the legality of the Resolution, boardmembers Benway, Norris, and town clerk Brooks disagreed that the town Board could require the office of the town clerk to be opened five days a week. The residents of this community have asked that the town clerk’s office be open for business five days a week.  Benway, Norris, Brooks then advised that they had documentation that the town’s lawyer was incorrect.  [Editor’s Note: Now Benway, Norris and Brooks are experts in the law? Our recent inquiries with the New York State Comptroller’s Office, the state agency that oversees town official operations, citing NYS Town Law, seem to disagree with their New Baltimore experts Benway, Norris and Brooks. What doe the New Baltimore Three Stooges know that the Comptroller’s examiners and lawyers don’t know?] They did not share this information with the lawyer or the supervisor prior to the meeting  even though both were available. [Editor’s Note: Imagine that! They didn’t share the information! If they had shared it they would have been told to take a hike and take their foolishness with them!]  Ms Brooks then advised that she would need MORE MONEY IN HER BUDGET TO DO THIS!  Mrs. Brooks is the second highest paid elected official in the Town of New Baltimore. (Dennis Jordan is the highest paid town official making more than $52,000 and can’t even keep accurate figures or do a purchase order!)  She is paid a salary of approximately $29,000+ a year, add on approximately $l0,000 in benefits and that comes to a cool $40,000 in taxpayer dollars.   Mrs. Brooks has the authority to appoint one first deputy clerk and two deputies (currently Marjorie Loux and Diane Jordan) but the town board has the authority to approve any compensation of deputy clerks.  [Editor’s Note: See this blog’s report on the NYS Town Law on this subject. Ms Brooks and her cronies have it all screwed up. They’re very confused.]. So why can’t the office be open to the public five days a week?   It should also be noted that Ms. Brooks was present in the clerk’s office at New Baltimore Town Hall only eight days in January 2014! [Editor’s Note: Does anyone smell the stench of corruption and misuse of public office here? We do!]

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT TO PURCHASE DIESEL FUEL AND #2 HEATING OIL FOR HIGHWAY USE    BY STATE CONTRACT FOR 2014

The newly elected board members, Dellisanti, VanEttan, Ruso discussed best practices with the Office of the State Comptroller, who recommended that passage of resolution in this matter was the best way to protect the financial interests of the community and the town.   Mr Jordan, Town of New Baltimore Highway Superintendent, an elected public servant, provided his version of the usage numbers to be used in the Resolution.  At the February 10, 2014 board meeting when Resolution was read and about to be voted on, Mr. Jordan DISAGREED WITH HIS OWN NUMBERS and did not want the board to vote on the resolution!!!!

Although the board should have proceeded, Mr. Dellisanti acknowledged Mr. Jordan’s confusion/concern about the numbers he previously provided, and tabled the resolution for the  February 24, 2014, board meeting, thus providing Mr. Jordan more time to figure out how much fuel he used last year during the O’Rorke regime. [Editor’s Note: Now, dear readers, isn’t this all the evidence we need to show why it’s so important that purchase orders / requisitions, justifications for purchases, competitive bidding, and clear recordkeeping be made policy in Town Hall, just as Dellisanti, Ruso, and vanEtten are proposing?]

I have provided this information as a brief synopsis of the situation and as a report on the facts; this in no way should be interpreted to be a personal attack against any individual; it also does not reflect my personal opinion of our town’s public officials or employees.  This information is provided for the sole purpose of identifying current and past actions or lack of action by elected officials, that was not and continues not to be in the best interest of this community, and in some cases is outright untruthful or even illegal.

It is time for all of our elected officials to work as a team, and those who refuse should go!  It is their duty to negotiate, propose, resolve, implement, and adhere to policy legislated by the New Baltimore Town Board, while providing oversight and management, transparency and accountability that is fiscally sound and complies with the law.

Equally important is that each community member, young and old, regardless of political persuasion, play an integral part in this process of representative democratic governing.  It is the community who must ensure that officials hear and correctly understand our needs and expectations, and are reminded that good government is for and by the people; this can be achieved only by continued open and honest inputs from the community and  conscientious teamwork by our elected officials.

I hope that this letter has been informative and that at future New Baltimore town board meetings there is standing room only. You need to participate in all of our town board meetings.

Your neighbor,

AMV
A Resident of Town of New Baltimore

Seriously, people, Benway, Norris, Brooks, Jordan really need to be put in their places (that may be a state or federal corrections facility), because they are really taking this town of New Baltimore for a joy ride to hell! Leave a comment and let us know what you think or, better yet, get off your asses and attend New Baltimore town board meetings and find out for yourself what’s going on.

Double-Talk, Double-Standards, Double-Jeopardy: An Editorial

Casting A Glance Over Our Recent Articles We Have to Wonder…

Burning Questions for Residents

Ravena: Change is in the Air

Freshness in the Air</big?

Freshness in the Air

The air is getting fresher and fresher in Ravena. You can almost breathe without Ravena Mayor Bruno or Nancy Warner breathing down your back. Any ideas why that is, Ravena residents? Ravena is facing an historic election, one that, according to our polls and the word on the street, is going to turn the village right around: The incumbent, very unpopular, abysmally low in the polls John Bruno is on the road to a well-earned boot-in-the-ass, and a popular local figure, Bill “Moose” Misuraca, local tavern owner and community leader, is wearing the boot. The same is true for the guys competing for the 2 Ravena trustee seats on the Village Council. Here are the figures as of February 25, 2014:

Ravena Mayoral Race
Bill “Moose” Misuraca, 76%
John T. Bruno, 3%

Ravena Village Trustees
Kieth Mahler, 36%
Laszlo Polyak (write-in), 26%
Joel Coye, 9.6%
R. Persico (incumbent Bruno-boy), 3.8%
Martin Case (incumbent Bruno-boy), 2%

Participate in our Ravena Election polls: Vote Now! Click on this link: Ravena Votes Right: Polls

According to these figures, it doesn’t look good for Bruno, Persico and Case. With those figures, you even wonder why they’re bothering and don’t just throw in the towel, instead of suffering extreme embarrassment at the polls. But they’ve never shown any good sense; why would they start now?

Coeymans: The World’s Dumping Ground

Instead of Senior Housing, Teen Centers, Nature Preserves Coeymans Vision in Your Back Yard Just Keep Sitting Back Quiet

Instead of Senior Housing, Teen Centers, Nature Preserves
Coeymans Vision in Your Back Yard
Just Keep Sitting Back Quiet

We’re having some trouble with figuring out just where Coeymans wants to be in the next ten years or so. We’re having difficulty understanding whether, what, or even if Coeymans town hall has vision or is still blind as a bat and being led around by the nose by self-serving insiders and governed by backroom deals. Here’s why:

When Arby’s needed a slapstick comedy town to rename itself—that is, prostitute itself for a sandwich and be the world’s fool—Coeyman’s stood tall screaming “We’ll do it!”  And they did it: they renamed the Town of Coeymans “Reubenville” for an entire month and in return got a box of sandwich coupons. What Tom Dolan and the rest of the cockroaches in Town Hall, like Tom Dolan,  didn’t steal, Coeymans residents lined up like round rodents to claim what was left. When poorTown Clerk Diane Millious was asked who was accounting for the coupons (each was worth about $6) the otherwise cool and collected clerk just shook her head and said, “Nobody. They just come and take what they want.” [paraphrased]

When Albany wants a dump: They go to Coeymans. When TCI want to relocate their poison plant (just PCBs): They go to Coeymans. When someone wants to create a port complex or build a bridge: The build a high dirt wall to hide the Hudson River (and what’s going on at their port) from our view (Yes, Mabel! Some say it was an NSA requirement to have the wall to prevent terrorism but it still hides the River and, really, how many terrorists do you think it will stop?), or they tear up our roads and choke us with dust, or they simply tear up the environment to build a bridge and possibly compromise a protected waterway. (And, YES! Mabel, they did put in a Gazebo so you can sit and watch the river! Thank you!)  But the slogan is: “Just come to Coeymans and we’ll roll over for you!”

We know who’s getting paid off for all of this and who’s getting really rich BUT how many jobs did they create?

And what about local media? The Albany Times Useless and News 10, 13, and 6 have a heyday trashing everything and everyone in the Coeymans community and Coeymans just…rolls over. Just think about the misleading and devastating reporting that went on News 10 ABC recently about a new business in Glenmont! (see our article: Thank You! All You Can Eat Buffet Discount). Isn’t Albany, Ravena-Coeymans, the Capital Region, New York State, the Country depressed enough? Do we need local “news” media’s help in killing new business and jobs in the area? Let’s all thank Channel 10 “news” and the Albany Times Union for plunging a knife deep into our backs!

Talking about trash and dumping, and rolling over to be screwed: We still have the Coeymans Police Department, too. But rumor is that’s not for long.

But let’s ask these questions: Have any ot these carpetbaggers done anything for the residents of Coeymans besides unload on them and make fools of them?

Please read Pundit’s comments below. They’re particularly good and on target!

Town Government and School Governance

culture-of-corruption Victorina

We’ve recently posted a number of articles discussing the goings on in our town halls in Coeymans and in New Baltimore. One of our articles relates again to the Coeymans police department and the retirement of one of its employees, Gerald “Dirty Hands Jerry” Deluca, who claims to have 32 years on the Coeymans police force (Ravena News Herald picked up on this in and article by Bryan Rowzee. See our revealing article at: Making Shite Shine). We pointed out some very glaring questions about Deluca’s claims and demanded an investigation. Do you think that’s going to happen? Do you think the Town of Coeymans board is going to pass a resolution to investigate Deluca’s claims and publish the results for all to see?

Do you think for a moment that the Town of Coeymans has ordered an investigation or brought in outside authorities to investigate the many claims of obstruction of justice, misprision of felony, harassment, misuse of public office, etc.? Nothing has been done but to shake the criminals’ hands and give them fat pensions! This is NOT going away, Coeymans, so you’d better do something about it.

The recent stupid comments made by the Coeymans official and picked up by the Albany Times Union can’t be overlooked and have not been overlooked by us or our readers. In fact, we won’t even comment but will quote one of our readers who left a comment on the issue:

And our schools? More than $42 million budget. That’s more than the entire budget of the town of Coeymans and the Town of New Baltimore combined! And for what? The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk central school district board of education is owned by the teachers and the teachers union, NYSUT. The budget is getting more and more bloated at the expense of a dwindling tax base in the RCS school district but the quality of education as evidenced in graduation rates and recent reports on the quality of education in the schools is dropping: RCS property owners are being clobbered with every higher taxes, the non-property owners are reaping the benefits, and we are still at the bottom of the list as far as quality of education goes.

But where there’s that much money available you can bet there’s corruption! But the teachers are getting pretty hefty salaries and their benefits and fringes are certainly not going down! They demand MORE and deliver LESS! Why do RCS CSD residents stand for that? Better question: Why do RCS school district property owners and taxpayers stand for that? Any good answers?

Plenty of money and no transparency, no accountability. That spells abuse of public trust, corruption, and crime!

Speaking of abuse of public trust, corruption and crime—and NO! we’re not back on the Village of Ravena’s case nor are we launching another exposé on the Coeymans p.d. or Cathy Deluca and her Ravena playpen, the failing money pit a.k.a. the Ravena Health and Fitness Center—we’re looking at how tax assessments are done in Coeymans but will let one of our readers pour the salt into your wounds on this one, Coeymans (see below in comments).

New Baltimore Town Clerk's Office Hours Board Wants Change

New Baltimore Town Clerk’s Office Hours
Board Wants Change

We’re also looking at the situation of the New Baltimore Town Clerk who doesn’t think she needs to keep regular office hours. We’ve run a story on New Baltimore Town Clerk, Janet Brooks (click here: “If you want me to do my job, you’ll have to pay me more…”), who staunchly opposed the New Baltimore Town board’s attempt to establish regular hours for the Town Clerk’s office. We have also learned that in addition to her very generous salary of about $29,000/year PLUS benefits (healthcare etc.) PLUS state pension, she tends to keep very unusual hours. In fact, a reliable report alleges that in January 2014 she put in all of 8 days! And it appears that previous democrat administrations (David Lewis/Diane Lewis, O’Rorke) never bothered to establish office hours nor to publish even whether the official position of Town Clerk is full- or part-time. Does that really surprise you?

Well, the newly elected New Baltimore town board has uncovered mountains of irregularities in New Baltimore town government and is taken decisive steps to kill the corruption and criminality that has been going on there.

Here’s a comparison for you, New Baltimore residents: The Town of Coeymans is has about twice the population of New Baltimore and the Coeymans town clerk does about twice the number of things the New Baltimore town clerk does. The Coeymans town clerk is full-time PLUS. The Coeymans town clerk receives about $42,000 a year in salary as full-time clerk. The New Baltimore town clerk, Janet Brooks, receives more than $30,000 (total estimate for 2014) but appears to think her job is part-time. Can anyone in New Baltimore explain this? How long has this been going on?

From where we are standing this looks like abuse of public trust, misuse of public office, corruption, and even embezzlement of public funds by stealing salary and benefits! Has anyone tried this in their jobs? Does it work as well for you as it apparently works for Ms Brooks?

The newly-elected  New Baltimore supervisor and his team are working hard to uncover the dirt that’s been swept under the carpets, to get the skeletons out of the closets in New Baltimore town hall, to put things in some order. But they’re getting a lot of opposition from Ms Brooks, her ally New Baltimore Dem Committee chair Dianne Lewis (wife of former supervisor David Lewis), and sock puppet town board members Lisa Benway and Christopher “Chris” Norris, who apparently have a lot to hide. Denis Jordan, whose wife is deputy clerk to Janet Brooks and now New Baltimore tax collector, is tripping over himself on a day-to-day basis.

It’s a mess but given time and energy, newly elected New Baltimore supervisor Nick Dellisanti and his able team of Jeff Ruso and Sally vanEtten, with the support of honest New Baltimore residents, will eventually clean things up and maybe send a couple of criminals down the river.

Ironically, we just received an announcement from the FBI, FBI Announces Campaign to Seek Public Assistance Identifying Acts of Public Corruption (Feb. 18, 2014). Does this mean there’s still hope? Or is it a smoke screen? Maybe you should participate in this FBI campaign.

That all said, now is a time to put basic American values and solid tradition back in our town halls, people. We’ve gotten very lax in our churches and town halls, in our politics and our spirituality. We need to rediscover our values and stop this stupidity we call political correctness and all of the dehumanizing secularity we wallow in because we are so damned confused the only place to go is back into our shell and make-believe there’s nothing out there but US!

Please read Pundit’s comments below. They’re particularly good and on target!

Rebuild My House
We Need to Rediscover Values and Belief

Local media has turned into propaganda mills, schools are crap, kids brains  are turning to mush and getting sucked into their electronic toys, mummy mayors and witches on sticks close our youth centers but reward insiders with fitness centers, property owners are being sucked dry by incompetent vampire school systems, police keep everyone properly intimidated and provide the necessary harassment and retaliation, churches are empty or populated by ministers who preach political agendas and hypocrites reading the Scriptures, town halls are meeting places for crooks and backroom deals, roads are full of potholes, Main Street is a ghost town, they’re turning our meadows and forests into transfer stations or dumps, and they’re building walls to hide our river. That’s America in our little community. Does it get any worse?

Just When You Start to Think that the Coeymans Town Council has the Opportunity to Shine…

Goes to Peter Masti Town of Coeymans Boardmember

Goes to
Peter Masti
Town of Coeymans Boardmember

Town of Coeymans Sitting Board Member, Peter Masti, Likes to Write Letters to the Editor. Unfortunately for Masti, They Get Published.

You have four church-goin’ members of the Coeymans Town Council assailing Coeymans Republican Committee chairwoman Barbara Cumm in her own home—after she manages to get them elected to the board—; then you have Mr George Langdon, newly elected to the Coeymans Town Board but not satisfied with being elected, he has his greedy eye on the Coeymans Republican Committee chairmanship besides (that’s not going to happen)—and he doesn’t seem to want to wait until the present long-time chairwoman Mrs Barbara Cumm hands over the baton—; and then you have dear Kenny Burns who seems to think that Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca is a “father figure.” Is there any hope for Coeymans?

And just when you start to think that some of the worst parasites have been voted off the Coeymans Town Council—Yes, we’re referring to Tom Boehm and Dawn Rogers; Tom Dolan’s next, of course—Mr Peter Masti, sitting member of the Coeymans Town Council, pens another idiotic letter to the editor, which the even more idiotic Ravena News Herald prints.

Mr Masti Insists on Publishing His Pitiful Ignorance…

Please, dear readers, don’t jump to conclusions. We are not proposing censorship nor curtailing free speech. What we are proposing is that a sitting elected official should be especially responsible, prudent and careful when publishing his opinion in the local media.  We are proposing that he should have his facts straight and correct, at the very least. We must hold our elected officials to a higher standard than we do the woman- or man-on-the-street. When our elected officials publish something in the public media, it is not just simply “opinion” but it takes on an entirely different character, it becomes public information, public education.

We read the letters to the editor and we have read Mr Masti’s occasional diatribes. For example, last December 19th (2013), Mr Masti penned a letter-to-the-editor of the Ravena News Herald. We read that letter and it raised our eyebrows as it should have done for many others. In that letter, Mr Masti rants about Santa Claus, “‘X-ing” out Christ in Christmas and Mr Masti’s own “faith in Christ.” Here’s some of what Masti writes:

“The very holiday of Christmas proclaims Christ in its name and very existence. I laugh when I see Xmas instead of Christmas. How can you  X” out Christ and still have Christmas?…I do not force my faith in Christ on others. I do not think that Christians should ever do that, but neither should we be afraid to share that faith with others.”

So what’s the problem? You may well ask. Mr Masti is proclaiming his pitiful ignorance in published letter-to-the-editor, and by so doing is making a mockery of his “faith in Christ,” and his own Christian education. Had Mr Masti done any homework at all, he would have quickly found out that the “X” in Xmas is not “X”-ing out, or deleting, or removing Christ from Christmas. Not at all! Mr Masti’s pitiful ignorance shines brightly, as does his ignorance of Christian tradition. In fact, the “X” in Xmas represents a long Christian tradition of abbreviating sacred names in manuscripts and writing. In fact, the “X” in Xmas has its origins in Biblical Greek, and is actually the Greek letter χ (chi), the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, Christós, meaning ‘anointed’. The translation of the Hebrew word Mašíaḥ (messiah) as Χριστός (Christós) in the Greek Septuagint became the accepted Christian designation and title of Jesus of Nazareth. Similarly, in many Christian manuscripts we find the name Christ represented by a “” (a cross), as in mas. Mr Masti is absolutely incorrect in his News Herald rant and merely exposes his ignorance of Christian tradition.

Mr Masti apparently has too much time on his hands. Obviously, his nursing job is not keeping him busy, nor is the work of being a town of Coeymans town board member, either. In this past week’s Ravena News Herald we again had the amusement and questionable pleasure of more of Mr Masti’s ignorance. In the Ravena News Herald of February 6, 2014, in a letter to the editor, Mr Masti writes:

“In talking with some people this past week, I was told that some of my decision making was being influenced by the “Smallbany blogger”. I quite curtly informed them that it was not.

“When I first got into office I was exposed to this “information source”. I use the word ‘exposed’ because that is what I felt. It read like an X-rated small town soap opera and I never even finished what I saw before me due to its format and language! When I write my letters I give the facts as best I know them, where I received these facts, and then I sign what I have written. This “Smallbany” person does not sign and leaves one unable to find out where he gets his information. I also try to share my information in a civil form and not in some vile and vulgar format that would turn myself and I am sure many others away.”

Now the initial problem we have with this snippet from Mr Masti’s letter-to-the-editor is that Mr Masti contradicts himself. Furthermore, Mr Masti gives us reason to believe he is ignorant of what was and is going on in Coeymans town hall. Shouldn’t he know what’s going on there?

Mr Masti also reveals his mediocre mental processing when he needs to know who is writing this blog. Mr Masti seems to loose sight of the fact that this blog’s title is “Smallbany” not “About Me.” Mr Masti does not seem to recognize the fact that it is the factual content of this blog that matters, not the author or authors. Masti gets stuck on the format, the language and doesn’t even address the content. But the events and facts reported in this blog are right under Masti’s nose! (Isn’t Mr Masti aware that the Coeymanazi money-pit police department is just downstairs? Isn’t Masti aware of the Notices of Claim filed against the Coeymans Police Department? Doesn’t Masti sign off on the Coeymans police department budget?)

What’s even worse is that Mr Masti appears to be saying he is familiar with this blog and its contents enough to make certain decisions about it. But Wait! Doesn’t he seem to be saying in his letter to the editor that he read only one article on this blog and didn’t even finish that one? Mr Masti appears to be double-talking us.

Does Mr Masti sweat such bullets when he reads a Albany Times Union or a Ravena News Herald article that is “unsigned” or if he doesn’t know where they obtained their biased and generally inaccurate information?

What’s worse is that Masti writes that the blog “leaves one unable to find out where he gets his information.” That’s absolutely stupid of Masti because we provide quotes, sources, pictures. We reproduced the source documents and provide them for reading and download. We frequently state that the information is obtained directly from the town of Coeymans or village Ravena, or elsewhere under the provisions of the New York State Freedom of Information Law (F.O.I.L.). If Mast were even half-aware of what’s going on in Coeymans town hall, he’d at least recognize some of the information we publish! It comes straight from Coeymans town board minutes or documents! Wake up Masti!

Masti’s ignorance is further documented when he writes: “I also try to share my information in a civil form and not in some vile and vulgar format that would turn myself and I am sure many others away.” The information Mr Masti has so far shared has been “civil,” that we admit. But it has been incorrect or wrong. Mr Masti’s mediocrity is underscored when he writes that the information provided on this blog is “vile and vulgar.” That statement would make the impression that Mr Masti is familiar with this blog and its contents to be able to make such a sweeping statement. But how can that be if Mr Masti also writes: “I  never even finished what I saw before me due to its format and language,” when Masti describes his first experience of the blog. He never finished but he has an opinion. Is that the kind of person Coeymans needs or wants on the town of Coeymans town council?

The most glaringly stupid statement Masti makes is that the “vile and vulgar format would turn myself [Masti] and I [Masti] am sure man others away.” Quite the contrary, Mr Masti, this blog is “vile and vulgar” only in your petty bigoted little mind. In fact, the information provided on this blog is lauded as very important to the community, your own Ravena-Coeymans community, by the many readers in the Ravena-Coeymans community and even worldwide! We have attracted almost 200,000 readers, Mr Masti! Almost everyone with a computer, a tablet, a smartphone in the town of Coeymans reads this blog, Mr Masti! Even YOU, Mr Masti!

Mr Peter Masti, you are an ignorant so-called Christian, and we can forgive that. We have no intention of tearing your personal religious beliefs or faith tradition apart. Nor do we intend to enter into a theological presentation, either. But you are, like so many like you, ignorant even of your own declared faith tradition. You should not publicize that; it makes most Christians look bad.

What’s worse, though, is that you are a hypocrite, Mr Masti. And it appears that you are a liar, too. Put all of that together and we have a very nasty mess: An ignorant, hypocritical liar who calls himself a Christian. Shame on you! That’s not our opinion, Mr Masti. That conclusion comes directly from a fair analysis of your letter-to-the-editor, and anyone with a third-grade reading ability can determine that fact for him or herself.

In conclusion, Mr Masti: The fact that to “some people” with whom you were chatting felt that your decision making was influenced by this blog speaks volumes. Firstly, for all the negative statements you make about this blog, it seems that your decisions have a lot in common with what we write on this blog. Why else would “some people” feel that your decision making was influenced by this blog? How do you explain that Mr Masti?

Furthermore, you write that you didn’t get past your initial contact with this blog; in fact, you write, “I never even finished what I saw before me due to its format and language!” So, Mr Masti, how can you say with certainty that your decision making wasn’t influenced by the “Smallbany blogger?” Either you know for certain or you don’t know. Which is it, Mr Masti? And if you know for certain that your decision making was not influenced by the blog, you’d have to know which decisions and which blog information. Right? That would mean that you’d have to know what’s on this blog. If you don’t know what’s on this blog, it’s impossible for you to “curtly inform them” that your decision making was not influenced by this blog. You can’t have it both ways, Mr Masti. You do see where we’re having some problems with your credibility, Mr Masti, don’t you?

Finally, you claim that you are “unable to find out where he [the blogger] gets his information.” Well, Mr Masti, if you are in the privileged position as an elected public official in the capacity of a Coeymans town council member, you should be expected to know where the information came from. You do read your town documents, publications, the local media, etc., don’t you, Mr Masti? You do know what a F.O.I.L. is, don’t you, Mr Masti. Certainly, Mr Masti, when we publish information on the town of Coeymans you must recognize it, don’t you Mr Masti?

Mr Masti: After all is said and done we have a question: What in hell are you doing when you’re sitting in executive session, during a town of Coeymans board meeting, or as a town board member? It seems our readers are better informed than you are!

What’s worse, though, is that you are a hypocrite, Mr Masti. And it appears that you are a liar, too. Put all of that together and we have a very nasty mess: An ignorant, hypocritical liar. Our advice to you, Mr Masti: Stop writing letters to the editor. They only confirm our opinion of you.

The truth is: Peter Masti got caught with his pants down around his ankles when “some people” recognized that his decision making is influenced by this blog. Masti was apparently embarassed when he got called on that fact and now is trying to distance himself from us. Peter Masti admits in his own letter to the editor that “some people” somehow thought his decision making was very similar to this blog and simply asked him about it. Now Peter Masti is peeing all over himself trying to claim that we don’t influence him. Even if he were to be truthful and say that he reads this blog and gets some information from it. What harm would that do? Shows he’d be up to snuff on what’s going on in his community, doesn’t it? We know you read this blog, Petey. Why lie about it, Petey?

Here’s What We Have So Far:

In the first three days or 72 hours that the Poll has been running, we already received 278 responses. Here are the first results of the Poll and you probably won’t be surprised.

survey

95% of responders said they got more information from this blog than from local news media.

First of all, four questions related to the blog itself and the responses were very positive: 95% of responders said they got more information from this blog than from local news media. 85% of responders said that this blog is an important community resource and another 85% said they would gladly do business with a business that supports this blog. A whopping 80% of responders say they rely on this blog for truthful information about their community. That’s very good news, especially because it is a community resource and businesses should be aware that a high percentage of people reading this blog would support a business that supports this blog. This translates into dollars and sense (and yes, cents, too), and indicates that this blog has become not only a political force but has potential to become an economic force, too.

85% of responders said that this blog is an important community resource

We know that this blog was an important source of information before the November elections and that many people got important information from this blog that influenced their choices. Our reader figures soared in the days prior to the elections to 3-5-times their normal levels between November 1 and November 7, so we know a lot of people were getting their information here.

95% of responses think that Coeymans law enforcement should be the responsibility of the Albany County Sheriff and the New York State Police, and 80% think that the Coeymans Police Department should be eliminated

One of the central questions of the poll concerned law enforcement in the town of Coeymans, and the answers we received to those questions were very important and should be taken into consideration by the new Coeymans town board: First of all, 95% of the responders are from RCS/town of Coeymans. 95% of responses think that Coeymans law enforcement should be the responsibility of the Albany County Sheriff and the New York State Police, and 80% think that the Coeymans Police Department should be eliminated. These figures are so high that they can’t be ignored by our elected officials.

Get the police out of RCS schools!

Get the police out of RCS schools!

As for the presence of the Coeymans police in our schools, an overwhelming majority of responders feel that we should get the police out of our schools, while 10% think we need them there. Again, the overwhelming majority (80%)  want the police out of our schools. The figures don’t tend to support the Coeymans police department in any way at all. What is the RCS CSD and its teachers dominated board of education going to do? How will they respond to these numbers? Will they fire Coeymans police officer Danielle Crosier and give her back to big-DoDo-Daddy Darlington?

100% of responders think that the Coeymans and New Baltimore town boards should not make any major decisions, including pay raises, until the new boards take power in January 2014

Another important point is that 100% of responders think that the Coeymans and New Baltimore town boards should not make any major decisions, including pay raises, until the new boards take power in January 2014. This means no major decisions, including any pay raises. We’re repeating that for the benefit of the outgoing town council members. The questions referring to the village of Ravena don’t bode well for Ravena mayor John Bruno and his crew. 80% of responders say No more Bruno, Warner, Case, Bailey, Persico in Ravena! 65% think that mayor John Bruno should resign and go to Alaska. Only 5% think Bruno is doing a good job and should stay put. Looks like it’s bye-bye Bruno and so-long Warner, Case, Bailey, and Persico.

80% of responders think that the Ravena Health and Fitness Center is an illegal joke

Is it bye-bye Cathy Deluca, too?  80% of responders think that the Ravena Health and Fitness Center is an illegal joke, 10 percent think we need the RHFC. But 0% of the responders say that he/she or at least 1 member of their household is a member of the RHFC. Makes you wonder why the 10% who think we need the RHFC aren’t members nor are any of their family members. Wonder if they’ll leave a comment and clarify that question.

55% or our poll responders said that the Ravena Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center should be saved

time to say goodbyeRavena mayor John Bruno and hatchet woman Ravena village trustee Nancy Warner did their best to sabotage the Ravena Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center. They did nothing but trash it and make life miserable for the Center and the Coeymans police department collaborated with Bruno and Warner to make certain life was and stayed miserable. People  noticed and so did their kids, and maybe that’s why the current village of Ravena mob is on the way out the door. A clear message was sent to Ravena by the town of Coeymans when they rejected Marty Case in the last election. But 55% or our poll responders said that the Ravena Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center should be saved, while 25% think we don’t or didn’t need the Teen Center. Looks like the Teen Center would win out in an election by a landslide. But unfortunately, Bruno and his mob already killed it.

The fact is that local parents let the kids down, too. But we also fault the parasite parents who were right there when there was a place to dump their kids for nothing and came with a handful of gimme and not even a thank you! Shame on you! You invested nothing in the Center or in your kids’ so it was no skin off your nose when Michael Fisher had to foot the bills and fight the battles. How do you look your kids in the face? Shame on you!

They're going down!

They’re going down!

And shame on Josephine Biscone-BRUNO (Josephine P. Dority neé Biscone) of Prudential Real Estate, the Ravena insider who, with Ravena insider Robert “Bob” Fisk, leased the Fisk property to Michael Fisher for the Teen Center. Now that Michael Fisher has renovated the property Josie BRUNO and Bob FISK, under the pressure from Ravena hate-pair, mayor John Bruno and trustee Nancy Warner, refused to renew the lease to the Teen Center and even refused to sell the property to Fisher. Two negative points: First of all, Bruno and Warner hate the kids so much they did all they could to kill the Teen Center. Secondly, Bruno and his team of lunatics now have another empty building, more distressed property, to line Main Street, Ravena. Nice work Bruno, Warner, Case, Bailey, Persico. Maybe that’s why your days are numbered and residents want you all O-U-T !

To be honest and to report the full story, however, we have to say that a whopping 10% of responders think this blog is useless. Makes you want to ask them why, if it’s so useless, do they bother to read it and even take the poll?

We’re very pleased with the initial response but we still have a long way to go. If we have these numbers in just 72 hours, we’re really looking forward to the figures in a week, in a month.

Keep the responses coming. It’s one of the best ways to find out what your neighbors and friends are thinking. Add your vote and opinion NOW! Just click on this link to go directly to the poll: Take Our New Poll. It’s Anonymous

An Open Letter to NYS Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and FBI Special Agent in Charge Andrew Vale

For Months the Citizens of Our Communities have been Complaining to State and Federal Offices Literally Begging for Investigation into the Numerous Abuses being Suffered by Citizens in our Communities on a Day-to-Day Scale. Complaints to our local officials and public employees are ignored. Local law enforcement is corrupt and indifferent, frequently disposing of citizen and resident complaints on a whim or because the complaint is being made against a favored person, usually a political ally or a relative. While unlawful search warrants are being granted by our local ignorant village and town justices, our rogue police force executes them to gain political capital and to ensure their survival or the survival of their village and town council handlers. The local police and school officials focus on our children to retaliate against parents. The result is fear, intimidation, anxiety and abuse of rights. (See our articles: Coeymans: Tom Boehm Tries to Save His Political Ass, Holds “Press Conference” (Coeymans police Chief Darlington joins with local dems Tom Boehm and Tom Dolan to cop some political capital and dupe the press); Police State in Ravena-Coeymans? You’re kidding. Right?; Ravena-Coeymans Police State + Ignorant Town Justice = Treason!; More Coeymans Police Misconduct: We Want Answers!, and more, much more!)

Complaints to government agencies are an ongoing joke whether they go to the Department of Education, the New York State Comptroller’s Office, or the local office of the FBI. Citizens and residents cannot trust their local officials, their local police, and the Albany County District Attorney, P. David Soares, is just as corrupt and entrenched in the politics and political machine to be rendered untrustworthy and ineffective, unless it’s as a tool for the very abuses and injustice he has taken an oath to defend us against, but fails to do so.

The situation has hit critical mass and we are fed up and unwilling to witness the continued abuse of our residents, the violation of their civil rights, the corruption of the democratic process. It’s time for action; time for ultamatums. Time to issue public demands to the New York State Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, and to the federal law enforcement representative, Special Agent Andrew Vale.

Justice is Broken in Ravena-Coeymans and New Baltimore

Justice is Broken in Ravena-Coeymans and New Baltimore

An Open Letter to the New York State Attorney General

Eric T. Schneiderman
Office of the Attorney General
The Capitol
Albany, NY12224-0341

and to

The Special Agent in Charge, Albany Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Special Agent-in-Charge Andrew Vale
FBI Albany Field Office
200 McCarty Avenue
Albany, NY12209

Mr Schneiderman, Mr Vale:

We are directing this communication to you as the chief law – enforcement executive of the State of New York, to the New York State Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, and the local federal representative of law enforcement serving this region and representing the United States Department of Justice, the Agent in Charge of the Albany office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Special Agent Andrew Vale.

Mr Schneiderman, we remind you that you are head of the New YorkState department of law, you as the state Attorney General are both the “People’s Lawyer” and the State’s chief legal officer. As the “People’s Lawyer,” you as Attorney General serve as the guardian of the legal rights of the citizens of New York, its organizations and its natural resources. In your role as the State’s chief legal counsel, you, Attorney General Schneiderman, not only advise the Executive branch of State government, but also defend actions and proceedings on behalf of the State and its people.

You, Mr Schneiderman, as Attorney General serve all New Yorkers in matters affecting our daily lives. Your offices, Mr Schneiderman, and the Attorney General’s Office generally is charged with the statutory and common law powers to protect consumers and investors, charitable donors, the public health and environment, civil rights, and the rights of wage-earners and businesses across the State.

You, Mr Schneiderman, have failed us and have failed in your mission to the citizens of Albany County, of the communities of Ravena – Coeymans, and of the town of New Baltimore. You have cast a blind eye to the corruption under which we are living, and are indifferent to the abuses committed against us. It would appear, Mr Schneiderman, that political interests have smothered our civil rights.

We remind you, Special Agent Vale that, according to the FBI website, “the mission of the FBI is to protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners.” The FBI’s mission explicitly includes combating public corruption at all levels, protect civil rights, as well as terrorism.

We remind you also that your core values include:[1]

  • Rigorous obedience to the Constitution of the United States;
  • Respect for the dignity of all those we protect;
  • Compassion;
  • Fairness;
  • Uncompromising personal integrity and institutional integrity;
  • Accountability by accepting responsibility for our actions and decisions and the consequences of our actions and decisions; and
  • Leadership, both personal and professional.

We are calling you to accountability, Mr Vale, because from where we are observing, you are failing in your mission and your core values! It would appear, Mr Vale, that political interests have smothered our civil rights.

While the Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares cannot possibly be unaware of the outrageous situations under his nose and perpetrated on his watch given the facts, for example, that on October 22 our statistics counter showed that the Albany DA visited this blog no less than 25 times! The Albany County DA spends outrageous amounts of time on this blog; for example,on October 24 (24 hour period) Soares’ office was on this blog a total of 21 hours 42minutes and 15 seconds, on  October 25 a total of 8 hours 5 minutes 9 seconds, on October 28, 8 hours 14 minutes 17 seconds! There is no possible way that Albany County DA P. David Soares could be unaware of the abuses of public office, the obstruction of justice, the civil rights abuses, the outright criminality that goes on in the Coeymans police department and elsewhere in these communities. But local officials like Ravena village justice Harold Warner (his daughter is an attorney employed in the DA’s office) and Coeymans police chief Gregory Darlington’s wife (a secretary in Soares’ office), which may be a clue why Soares has failed in his oath, his obligations, his duties to his adopted country, the United States, and his adopted people, us Americans. (P. David Soares was born in Brava, Cape Verde, an island off the coast of West Africa. Soares comes from a culture where corruption abounds, civil and human rights abuses are routine, women are third class citizens. It’s no wonder Soares is a womanizer, unethical, a closet racist, and doesn’t quite get how we operate in the United States.) Soares is a cog in the wheels of the corrupt Albany Democrat machine, just like our corrupt local officials. (Source: Soares’ biography, “About David.”)

Has the Apple gone Rotten?

Has the Apple gone Rotten?

Even the Albany County Sheriff’s Department, under the command of another local boy, Sheriff Craig Apple, has its own skeletons. One of those skeletons is recently “promoted” Kerry Thompson, now Deputy Chief for law enforcement (is this a joke?) under Chief Deputy Paul M. Courcelle, Kerry, who is also lieutenant and “assistant” to Coeymans police chief Gregory Darlington and — you really couldn’t make this stuff up — is married to Darlington’s sister!  (See our article: Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple: Has the Apple Gone Rotten?)

Even store chains like Trader Joe’s won’t allow a manager’s close family member to work in the same store! What’s going on here, we ask? There’s a word for this situation and behavior: INCEST!

There is no just, fair or ethical reason why the citizen/resident must individually go to the poorhouse by bringing private suit for public purpoes, when you, Mr Schneiderman, and you, Mr Vale, have the duty and responsibilities as set forth above, and are required upon notice to take law enforcement and prosecution action against public servants and officials who violate the law! It is our job to notify you of wrongdoing by our public officials and public servants; it is your job to follow up and to prosecute. Let’s not make any mistakes on these points. So get moving, gentlemen!

We Want It Stopped!!!

We Want It Stopped!!!

By way of prologue, we would like to express our extreme indignation and disappointment at your performance, Mr Schneiderman and Mr Vale, and pathetic state of awareness, despite the red flags sent up by local citizens, the media, and other indicators pointing to the deplorable state of government and law enforcement in this region, to wit: Albany County, the municipalities of Ravena – Coeymans and generally southern Albany county, and northeastern Greene county, particularly the town of New Baltimore.

Our main question is this: What are you doing in your positions? What are you doing to ensure the sanctity of the law, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the safety and wellbeing of the citizens who, in good faith, delegate to you their natural moral rights of autonomy, dignity, consent, common good, etc. If we are to rely on our experiences to date the answer to that question would be: pitifully little.

We are aware that your offices have been informed by individuals of the situation currently existing in the Ravena – Coeymans community with regard to the violations of rights, political corruption, obstruction of justice. We are also aware that your offices, if they are conducting their business ethically and diligently, should be aware of the decades – long history of abuses in these communities and the suffering of our residents. You should be aware of the discrepancies and deficiencies in fiscal responsibility and the corruption that is rampant in these communities. You should be aware if only you read the local media rags or monitor local news. Are you on this planet on a regular basis?

We citizens are all too aware of the fact that acting alone or turning to you as individuals is fruitless; you ignore us. You are indifferent to us. We are too small to waste your precious time on. Well, sirs, this is where your attitude is going to change. Now we are going public in a big way. Your wake – up call is here and now!

angry u betchaWe have had enough of your ridiculous branding of disgruntled citizens as “terrorists.” That’s not going to work any more. In Boston in 1773, a bunch of citizens were disgruntled and the result was the Boston Tea Party; In August 1776 (not on July 4th!) the majority of the delegates to the 2nd Continental Congress signed off on the Declaration of Independence. On April 12, 1861, a civil war started because of injustices. In 1848 the Liberty Party made women’s suffrage a plank in their platform and in 1920, women achieved the right to vote with the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment. In 1964 the Civil Rights Act was passed. But with all that history of dissent, civil disobedience, and enactment of laws to prevent abuse of citizens, we sense that something has been lost along the way; our public servants and elected officials have become indifferent, even ignorant of the rights guaranteed by the sacred documents of American freedoms, the Constitution and its Amendments.

stop false arrest

Right here in this community our public servants, our law enforcement bodies are egregiously violating our civil rights and the laws of this state and this country. Our elected officials are egregiously and arrogantly indifferent to our civil rights and the laws of this state and this country. Our complaints and claims fall on deaf ears and our rights and recourse are ignored and we are disenfranchised by the high costs of legal representation and the deep pockets of the insurance companies hired by our own people, our own elected and public officials to defend them against us, the very people they have taken oaths to serve!

Our complaints and notices to you, the New York state law enforcement executive and to the enforcement agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation go ignored, or become part of an ongoing investigation file. Worse still, they are “investigated” and then dismissed, adding insult to the injury already suffered.

Any candidate with the courage to come out against the machines operating in our village, town and city halls is either silenced by boards of election that hide behind non – disclosure, secrecy, and protection of their confidentiality. If the candidate survives the challenges of the opposition and the corruption of the boards of election, they have to face the violations of their civil rights by local sign ordinances, or the hooliganism of campaign sign vandals and thieves, the criminal conduct perpetrated by their unprincipled lawless opponents, and the indifference or non – response of local law enforcement to their claims. The democratic process has become a farce; cliques are in control and citizens have been literally disenfranchised. The laws enacted by our local governments are facially unconstitutional and are being enforced by a local ignorant police department. We have become a police state, in other words.

Local democrat candidates steal, destroy, remove their opponents’ campaign signs with impunity! In the town of New Baltimore alone one candidate, Janet I. Angelis, running for a seat on the town council, went around and removed the signs of her opponents’ campaign signs and was idiotic enough to have delivered them to one of the candidates with a lecture! (See our article: New Baltimore Democrat Town Board Candidate Janet ANGELIS Caught Moving, Stealing Opponents’ Campaign Signs!) Again in New Baltimore, the Democrat candidates intimidated a local elderly widow to remove the Republican/Conservative signs from her property (The signs have yet to be recovered a week later!) (Read our article: New Baltimore. Now Intimidation of the Elderly: Take Down Those Signs!) And those are just two examples of recent occurrences in the town of New Baltimore in Greene County (Greene County DA: Terry Wilhelm (R), Greene County Sheriff: Gregory Seely (R)). These are blatant violations of protected rights, civil rights, violations of New York State election law, violations of criminal law and where are our local law enforcement officials?

Civil rights, protected rights, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, indifference, abuse of public office are conspicuously obvious and yet those in authority cast a blind eye on what’s happening to our American homeland.

Mr Schneiderman, Mr Vale we in the Albany, Ravena – Coeymans, and New Baltimore communities don’t give a whit about the apparent propaganda so urgently circulated about so – called sovereign citizens, about terrorist threats, about drug cartels and the like. We have our own hometown terrorists and our own hometown terrorism oppressing right here and now.

Mr Schneiderman, Mr Vale we accuse you of ignoring our complaints, our suffering. We accuse you of failing to protect the laws of the land and the protected rights granted by the United States Constitution and its Amendments. We accuse you of indifference to us!

This Open Letter demands your attention and action. This Open Letter demands your proactive investigation into these complaints. This Open Letter demands that you immediately do your jobs, the jobs that you are being paid by the taxpayers of this land to do, and to immediately bring the perpetrators of the injustices complained of to justice, and to bring justice and fair play, the rule of law, back to our communities.

We demand action NOW. This is no individual citizen requesting your attention to an injustice in a poorly drafted letter. This is a pubic demand calling you and your agencies out publicly to investigate, prosecute, and correct.

In the context of this demand we are attaching several documents that are illustrative of the abuses and criminality in these communities.

We are living in a police-state! We cannot turn to our local law enforcement because they are far too corrupt to do justice. Our own Coeymans police chief, Gregory Darlington, is incompetent and is a tool of such dirty cops like Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca, rogue cops like Ryan Johnson, and tainted law enforcement like Albany County Sheriff Department employee, Kerry Thompson, and others as well as self-interested petty politicians like Thomas Boehm and Thomas Dolan! We cannot turn to our Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares because he is far too entrenched in the machine and far too compromised by his own surly ambitions and lack of ethics; in Albany county, the democrat machine has descended far to deeply in the mire of corruption to be of any possible use to its citizens. (Please see our article: Ravena-Coeymans Police State + Ignorant Town Justice = Treason!, Police State in Ravena-Coeymans? You’re kidding. Right? The other examples are too numerous to list here. We suggest a search of any of those names on this blog.)

Mr Schneiderman, Mr Vale, it is your indifference and the indifference of your predecessors and your handlers, as well as of the offices of the New York State Department of State and the Office of the New York State Comptroller, offices that go through the motions with their decisions and audits, but whose bite is gentle and toothless, whether by political necessity or by indifference, that has allowed this deplorable state of affairs to have reached this point of intolerability. It is up to you and your agencies to correct it forthwith and to meet your obligations to the citizens of these communities.

You cannot continue to ignore this situation. You need only to survey this blog to get the truth, to learn the real story straight from our citizens. We live in fear of retaliation, of discriminatory and selective law enforcement, of double –  even triple – standards, of cronyism, of public corruption. Our citizens are being abused, our laws are being broken, and our civil rights are being violated; we want something done NOW!

For the citizens of Albany County, Ravena – Coeymans, New Baltimore New York,
