We Have Been Authorized to Extend to Local Residents the

Invitation to Join in the Pending Lawsuits

Citizens and Residents against the Village of Ravena and the Town of Coeymans Police State

join-us

As you may have read in the Ravena News Herald (Thursday, September 26, 2013, “Legal disputes cite civil rights violations, official misconduct“, by Melanie Lekocevic) and as reported on this blog in several articles, including (click on a title to read the article) “Village of Ravena, Town of Coeymans Police Department Served with Notices of Claim,” “Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District Served with Notice of Claim: School Violence,” “Criminal Obstruction of Justice & Official Misconduct: Gregory Darlington, Coeymans PD,” “What you hear or see, or know can land you in Jail! 18 USC § 4 – Misprision of Felony,” and numerous other articles on this blog, local residents are fed up with the abuse, corruption, maltreatment, and criminality of Ravena-Coeymans politicos and police.

It’s never been a secret. The enitre world knows about the favoritism, the retaliation, the intimidation, the corruption, the abuses that Ravena-Coeymans residents have been putting up with for decades. But now several courageous citizens have bitten the bullet and are telling the village of Ravena and the Town of Coeymans, they’ve had enough and now they’re doing something about it.

Stop Picking and Do Something!!!

Stop Picking and Do Something!!!

Don’t you think it’s about time, though? What are you going to do now? Sit there and twiddle your fingers or pick your noses or butts? Haven’t you been doing that long enough?

We’be been authorized to invite you to join the courageous citizens who have filed Notices of Claims against the Village of Ravena, the Town of Coeymans, the Coeymans Police Department. We are inviting you to join those citizens as John and Mary Does, and to add your voices to the cry for justice and fairness in Ravena-Coeymans. Can you do that? Can you do that to salvage your civil rights, your kids’ civil rights, to reclaim justice and fairness in this community, to know what your elected crooks are doing with your tax dollars, to know which laws they’re making to deprive you of your rights, to get the information you need or want that is public without getting a runaround? Can you even imagine what life would be like in Ravena Coeymans if it were cleaned up?

Here’s what you need to do to join in the lawsuits:

  • uncle sam join usIf you would like to join the Notice of Claim/Lawsuit against the village of Ravena and the Coeymans Police for violation your or your kids’ civil rights, for harassment, for negligent hiring and retention of abusive or psychotic cops by Coeymans Police chief Gregory Darlington, or if you have been mistreated or abused by the Coeymans Police and have made a complaint that “got lost”, you need to write to rcs.confidential@gmail putting Civil Rights + Police Abuse in the subject line, and giving details of your story.
  • If you have had a problem with the Coeymans Police and feel that they are playing the political or the favoritism game, or if you have tried to report a crime and have gotten the Coeymans-shuffle treatment, or if you have filed a complaint that got nowhere because Coeymans police chief Darlington or one of his gremlins decided you weren’t worth the effort, we need to hear from you and you need to write to rcs.confidential@gmail putting Dissed by Coeymans PD in the subject line and giving details of your story.
  • If your child has been victimized by teachers, school employees, athletics coaches, or if your child has been a victim of school violence or bullyism in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District schools and you have gotten nowhere with the administration, we need to hear from you at rcs.confidential@gmail.com putting School Violence in the subject line and giving details of your experience.
  • If you have attempted to obtain public information from the village of Ravena by simple request or under the provisions of the New York State Freedom of Information Law, and the village of Ravena has not responded with the requested information or documents, or have not responded at all, please write to us at rcs.confidential@gmail.com putting Ravena FOIL Violations in the subject line and telling us your story.
  • Finally, if you feel you were hoodwinked, played the fool, screwed by the village of Ravena, mayor John Bruno, Nancy Warner, and Cathy Deluca when they (1) spent $40,000 of your tax dollars without your permission to buy used fitness equipment, (2) allocated more than $100,000 of taxpayer money without public inputs to create and finance the Ravena Health and Fitness Center, (3) appointed Cathy Deluca, with her past history of failed fitness centers, and allocated $30,000 plus benefits to her to “manage” the Ravena Health and Fitness Center without your inputs, (4) apparently pulled political democrat strings to get Cathy Deluca’s civil service position approved by the Albany Couty Department of Civil Service on faulty applications, then you need to write to us at rcs.confidential@gmail.com putting RHFC in the subject line and telling us what you think.

It’s time you accepted this invitation to protect yoursel, your rights, your children and your money! Join the courageous citizens who are taking the first steps to bringing democracy back to Ravena-Coeymans and saying NO! to the Bruno-Deluca-Warner-Darlington Police State!!!

This blog and its contributors and editor support those Notices of Claim and believe very strongly that concerned residents of Ravena-Coeymans and New Baltimore should, too. It’s your freedoms that are at stake here.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District Served with Notice of Claim: School Violence

Please send this link to your contacts who may be interested in this topic. Link: http://wp.me/p2jPFe-1OT

Abysmal Graduation Rates, Crooked Teachers and Self-Serving School Board, $42 Million Budget, NYS Mandates for Anti-Bullying Training, a New State Law, the Dignity Act, and…

Still Violence in the RCS Schools. WHY?

But it Does if you're a Student in the RCS Schools

But it Does if you’re a
Student in the RCS Schools

That’s an important point of investigation that is very likely to be made when the facts of a recent Notice of Claim come before the courts, and the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District has to cough up an explanation Why? after a history and a pattern of student-on-student violence, attacks, ambushes, even suicide attempts have been allowed to continue!

An outraged parent recently served a complex Notice of Claim on the RCS-CSD asking just those questions and demanding, among other things, answers. Seems that a school district with a budget consistently larger than that of local municipalities combined and the biggest employer of morons in the area should be able to come up with the right answers. But looking at what we have to deal with in terms of teachers (if Martin Case or Matthew Miller or Brian Bailey are to be taken as examples) or support staff (like Rocco Persico, a school psychologist on the RCS payroll) or even principals like Pam Black or  Brian Bailey, well-liked (Why? Because he’s a dolt! A wingnut! That’s why he was made assistant superintendent for curriculum: to get the dolt, the wingnut out of the school! Wake up!), the causes are obvious.

Before the most recent board of education elections when the board was literally drowned with new teachers-clique members by re-electing of all people James Latter (known best for his abuses and breaches of confidentiality), Peter Brown of the Mary Partridge-Brown/Matthew Miller odd-couple (Now it appears it’s a threesome. Patrick E. Brown, of Brown & Weinraub, an Albany law firm, Mary Miller’s — Oops! Brown’s — husband, was elected but we know all too well who’s really on the RCS board of education: Matthew Miller, double-dipping teacher and teachers union rep), and newbie Jason Hyslop, a space-occupying lesion on the board, similar to a Edward “Teddy” Reville (drowsy-dog; and his name is not “Teddy”). So out of 9 seats on the school board, 6 are now occupied by teachers or member married to a teacher, or teacher tools (Brown & Hyslop). Can you tell where this board is heading? Does Latter’s wife or Miller’s wife get the principal’s position they’ve been hankering for but never got because they’re incompetent?

Well, back to the Notice of Claim… (Click here to read it in it’s entirety: Polyak Notice of Claim polyak_redacted; see also Village of Ravena, Town of Coeymans Police Department Served with Notices of Claim).

For six years Mr John Vadney and his colleagues on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District board of education fought against the teachers clique on that school board to redirect attention from the administrators’ and teachers’ pockets to student safety and education.  While the teachers clique had the majority on the board under the closet guidance of the teachers union, New York State Teachers United (NYSUT) and its local representative, Matthew J. Miller, a high-school science teacher, who at the time was double-dipping to the tune of $18,000 a year from the school budget and on a reduced teaching load (and still is) so that he could (and still can) do his union work on the school budget tab, members James Latter, Alice Whalen, Howard Engel, and previously Gerald Deluca and Cathy Deluca (subsequently voted off the board) saw to it that the teachers and administrators were well taken care of while graduation rates in the RCS high-school plummeted and school violence thrived.

Once the non-teachers were voted into the majority, positive things started to happen in the RCS school district and Mr John Vadney and his team were able to make considerable progress in getting rid of the incompetent local teachers’ choice superintendent Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith and hiring Dr Allen R. McCartney to come in and clean things up. Matthew Miller and the teachers clique vehemently opposed McCartney’s hire but were overruled by those with the best interests of the district, Vadney, Robbins, Sylvester, Krzykowsky, and Lukens.

Total lies; total business as usual for the teachers union and the teachers clique.

dirty little lies

The teachers clique and their moles on the Coeymans police department (Gregory Darlington, Kerry Thompson (Darlington’s brother-in-law, and Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca) attempted everything to discredit the non-teachers on the board of education from framing the then board president, John Vadney, to intimidating Jeff Lukens when he came to his son’s defense (as any father would do), to libeling and slandering Rodney Krzykowski for exercising his civil rights, to even inciting bullyism or retaliation on the children of board members. Readers will certainly recall how one student thug ambushed and injured Mr Vadney’s son as he entered the high-school—but that was kept neatly under wraps and, when Vadney’s wife filed a Notice of Claim for the incident, the “Friends of RCS” the teachers clique electioneering arm, the Delucas, Mary Partridge-Brown (wife of lawyer Patrick Brown, now a RCS board of education member) spread the misinformation that Vadney was suing the school district. Total lies; total business as usual for the teachers union and the teachers clique. For the “Fiends of RCS” if it’s illegal or immoral or unethical, it’s OK. And they were elected to the majority on the board of education and promptly took full credit for all the good that Vadney, Sylvester, Robbins, Krzykowski, and Lukens were able to get jump started—such as improving the graduation rates and getting school safety underway, complying with state mandates for anti-bullying programs and training, etc., financial responsibility, accountability, and transparency — all opposed by the teachers clique, James Latter, Alice Whalen, Howard Engel, Edward “TeddyReville, on the board and now joined by Patrick Brown (that is, Matthew Miller and NYSUT) and James Hyslop!

prevent child abuseThe Vadney board was student-centered, not teacher-centered as it is now. The Vadney board focused on keeping students on track, and above all, safe! But the teachers clique, getting more and more defensive and desperate as time went on, unanimously opposed anything the non-teachers proposed, And it’s not as if no one ever heard of the bullying in the RCS schools or of the Dignity Act passed by the NYS legislature in order to make school personnel accountable and responsible for preventing bullying. Anyone with two eyes to see with and two ears to hear with couldn’t possibly have avoided the regular pleas of Mr Laszlo POLYAK at almost every RCS board of education meeting pleading with the superintendent, the teachers, the administrators to do something about the violence in the schools. Mr Polyak was a regular speaker addressing the superintendent and the board asking when they were going to comply with the requirements of the Dignity Act (principals and school administrators were dragging their feet when required to start-up training programs and enforcement of the Act in the RCS schools).

And then Mr Polyak’s own daughter is brutalized during a recess period while supposedly under the supervision of an aid. And she was attacked and injured by a well-known offender who was known to have done the very same thing a number of times in the past!

So, readers, when gentle, then in-your-face New-York-style persuasion doesn’t work and you’re ignored, your child is injured, it’s time to take some serious in-your-face New-York-style legal steps. And that’s what Mr Polyak was forced to do when he filed his Notice of Claim. The violence in our schools must stop and if it takes a $10 million lawsuit to do it, What the hey! Go for it if it’s the only think this school district understands (besides its $10 million the teachers union and the crooks in the school system won’t get their dirty hands on!)

The Vadney Board made it happen and got the wheels rolling but the Vadney board didn’t have enforcement powers in the schools, the administrators, teachers and principals had that. Nor did the board have police power or the authority to compel the local police, the Coeymans Police Department, to do their job and get proactive in terms of prevention of the violence and enforcing or collaborating (with what?) in compliance with the Dignity Act! If the RCS schools were non-compliant, slow to implement the procedures, indifferent to the violence, the Coeymans Police were just as guilty. Some of the duties of the town of Coeymans Police chief Gregory Darlington, according to his job description, are:

  • Administers and directs the operation of the police department;
  • Recommends organizational changes to the Town Board and directs necessary procedural changes;
  • Keeps Town Board abreast of major developments in law enforcement that affect department activities;
  • Represents the department at conferences and meetings;
  • Thorough knowledge of New York State Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law and all local laws and ordinances, regulations pertaining to police work.

Now we don’t think it’s stretching it when we ask: When the Coeymans Police Department has to respond to student-on-student violence, kids with guns in the trunk of their cars in the school parking lot, suicide attempts on school property, known bullying, coaches’ abuse of athletes and parents, violations of FERPA confidentiality (right James Latter?), reports of kids being denied boarding school buses and having to walk along Route 9W to get home, etc. wouldn’t you think the police chief would wake up and smell the coffee—the blood? Wouldn’t you think that the police chief would take the initiative and get proactive with acknowledging the problem? Wouldn’t you think the police chief would reach out to the board of education, to the school district with a plan? Wouldn’t you think the police chief would make an appearance at school board meetings to reassure the public that the problem is a priority for the local police? Maybe. But not in the Coeymans Police Department and not with police chief Gregory “DoDo cop” Darlington. And not with Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca lurking and, together with teacher/union rep Matthew “Matt-the-Mutt” Miller,  harassing local women at BoE meetings.

DUH! Wadda I do? The Coeymans PD's Response

DUH! Wadda I do?
The Coeymans PD’s Response

So the Coeymans Police Department is included in the recent Notice of Claim and rightly so.  If the Coeymans Police Department would act more like a community public service  organization rather than a Gestapo police state band of thugs hell-bent on retaliation, intimidation, and violation of protected civil rights, maybe the Coeymans Police Department and its police chief could avoid being named in lawsuits. Nah! That would require a Coeymans Town Board that did its job, that is, supervise the Coeymans Police Department and it’s police chief, Gregory Darlington, and do some disciplining where needed. But then, if the Town Board started coming down on the Coeymans Police Department, the board members and their families wouldn’t get special consideration and treatment, the felonies and misdemeanors wouldn’t disappear, would they?

So what’s the deal Coeymans town supervisor Stephen Flach, board members Peter Masti, Thomas Boehm, Thomas Dolan, Dawn Rogers? When are you going to start doing your jobs and ensuring the Coeymans Police Department and its wimpy chief, Gregory Darlington, are doing their jobs, or else?

Mayor John Bruno and councilwoman Nancy Warner are too busy harassing the Teen Center and bitching about kids congregating around the Pulver Street gazebo

dirty tricksAnd then there’s the village of Ravena. The RCS middle and high school are in the jurisdiction of the village of Ravena, aren’t they? So what’s mayor John Bruno and village of Ravena councilpersons Nancy Warner, Martin Case (himself a teacher at the high school!), Rocco Persico (a school psychologist at the high school!) or William Bailey doing while all of this is going on? ANSWER: Not a damned thing! CORRECTION: They’re too busy whining about their water treatment and sewer bills from the town of Coeymans. Mayor John Bruno and councilwoman Nancy Warner are too busy harassing the Teen Center and bitching about kids congregating around the Pulver Street gazebo; they’re too busy cruising the gazebo at weird hours of the nite and getting the Coeymans police in a feeding frenzy over the “No Loitering” law (the subject of another Notice of Claim because the law is unconstitutional and unenforceable!). That’s the extent of the village of Ravena’s response to the violence!

More parents should take control and follow Mr Polyak’s lead

We have already provided a link to the complete Notice of Claim served on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District and the Coeymans Police Department. If you’re interested in reading it, just click on the link above. We’ve redacted the minor student’s name from the NoC but it’s in all other respects complete as filed. More parents should take control and follow Mr Polyak’s lead. Maybe then the RCS CSD, the town of Coeymans, the Coeymans Police Department, and the village of Ravena will take these important matters more seriously.

It Shouldn’t Be a One-Man Show…Where are the Rest of You?

One single resident of Ravena steps out and creates a place for the kids

A One-Man-Show Won't Work

A One-Man-Show Won’t Work

To Get the Best Out of It We Have to Team Up

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.

Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

In the meantime one single Ravena resident takes his savings and his time, gets a second job to do something for the kids. Something the kids really need: a place to go other than the street! And they get rides home after the club closes…in his care, not in a Coeymans police vehicle. While the village of Ravena is shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars for a handful of special friends, and the town of Coeymans is busy looking the other way while leaving youth services to the Coeymans Police Department, one single resident of Ravena steps out and creates a place for the kids: the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center (RCYTAC).

Parents and residents of Ravena-Coeymans: When’s the last time you visited the RCYTAC? I visited just the other day and I was floored to see how nice it is. I was floored to see a lot of teens who I know personally enjoying the place. Those kids actually stopped, greeted me and were happy to see me there. They actually looked, well, happy! The disk jockey’s a teen, the food service staff are teens, the teens learning how to take charge and socialize. As I was visiting, kids were strolling in but none were coming out so I assumed that they were involved in one of the many available activities…all of them monitored and supervised, mind you!

While I was standing outside with Mr Michael Fisher, creater of the RCYTAC, I was amazed when a parent came up and asked if she could donate the refreshments from her son’s grad party, because he decided that he didn’t want a party and that the RCYTAC should have it. The parent also made a fairly generous cash contribution for the kids. That same parent, a psychologist and author of children’s books, is planning to do poetry and literature workshops at the RCYTAC! Question: What are YOU doing?

I have one single question, parents, residents: Where the hell are the rest of you????

Why is it you’d risk leaving your kids unsupervised, in their rooms, on Facebook, being evil? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize in a healthy environment?

Why is it you’d risk your teen’s wandering around dark streets and parks at risk of life and limb? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize safely?

Why is it you don’t enjoy some personal time to recuperate without the unnecessary stress of either knowing where your kids are or, worse still, not knowing?!? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize in a healthy environment?

Why is it you’d risk having the Coeymans Police, the Albany County Sheriff, or the State Police bringing your kid home or bringing your the news of his or her arrest, bail, court appearances—or worse, news of a tragedy— when you could have supported the RCYTAC with some time and a couple of bucks donation?

Tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars are being spent on worthless projects like a village fitness center

Why is it you sit back oblivious to the fact that tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars are being spent on worthless projects like a village fitness center that is exclusive and unwelcoming to many in the community, while youth programs and services are ignored? Why aren’t you demanding that some of that money be donated no strings attached to the RCYTAC?!? No strings attached! We don’t want it to become a Coeymanazi brainwashing camp, do we? Why aren’t you parents and residents appearing at village and town board meetings screaming bloody murder that nothing is being done for youth…well almost nothing, the Coeymans police seem to like arresting them. Don’t you realize that if the kids are off the streets and not looking for something to do, they’ll likely stay out of mischief?prison kid

Ravena Coeymans Selkirk teens and youth are tomorrow’s consumers and voters; If you mobilze NOW and get your parents to support your projects, you can move on local government and get those geezers to support your RCYTAC. BE YOUR OWN RCS CHAMPIONS!!!

Teen Work is Team Work

Teen Work is Team Work

success

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk teens: Why would you stick with street friends who will only get you into a mess of trouble? Why don’t you get smart and mobilize for your own good? Michael Fisher is handing you the opportunity to do something really good, important, responsible, independent for you and your generation at the Teen Center. Mr Fischer is handing you the opportunity to show that you can become a part of something great, you can be your own leaders, you can create a community you can be proud of, and you can empower yourselves and your friends to get the attention of local residents and government to take an interest in your welfare, in your RCYTAC, to support Mr Michael Fisher’s vision for RC youth. Ravena Coeymans Selkirk teens and youth are tomorrow’s consumers and voters; If you mobilze NOW and get your parents to support your projects, you can move on local government and get those geezers to support your RCYTAC. Be fair! Don’t make Mr Fisher do it all on his dime…he just can’t do it without your help and support.

Really Bad Move!

Really Bad Move!

As scary as the girls’ Facebook exchanges were, some good points were made such as: Being bad is not cool because it will come back to bite you in future, when you’ll really need to prove who and what you are. Beating someone up is not cool, it’s criminal, and it’s not going to get you a job or an education; it’s going to get you a reputation and a bad one at that and one that’s likely to follow you wherever you go. But if you are a leader now and to take the initiative to work for community, that’s going to serve you well for the rest of your lives. Be smart…be leadership…be champions!

Why is it you are sitting there thinking that your kids are getting the most out of the school district budget? Are you in denial or just plain stupid? Have you examined the school budget to see just how much of it is “for the kids”? You might want to do that one day. And don’t be misled by the dumbing down of the curriculum or the fancy-sounding names they give to programs that are there just to enrich the staff with extra pay. Ask yourself why an athletics coach or a teacher is being paid 4-6 times the per capita income of RC residents or 2-3x the average household income of a RC household? Then ask yourself why you haven’t made a substantial donation to the RCYTAC for the valuable service of keeping your kids safe (the school system doesn’t seem to be able to do that), saving you bail money, and even possibly saving you funeral expenses. Blunt, but real.

Empowered Youth

Empowered Youth

We support what is good for this community and most especially what is good for our greatest hope and asset: our teens and youth. We adults who have the good sense and vision realize that some day we are going to have to depend on today’s youth when they are making the decisions and running things. And the kind of people I want to see running things for me when I need them are the kind of teens and youth I saw at the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activity Center.

It’s Important to You…We can do better for our teens and youth!

Everyone these Days Seems to Believe that They’re “Entitled,”
That they Have a Right to Something, Everything, Without Work or Investment.

That’s The American LIE!

They'll see through your lies!

They’ll see through your lies!

And Where that Bullshit Frame of Mind Came From Nobody Seems To Care But It’s A Slippery Slope and Loaded with Unpleasant Surprises

you can do better

The fact is, parents may think they’re giving their kids what the kids need but the parents don’t really have a clue. Do they? The parents are constantly pushing (their kids and government), demanding (of the kids and of administrators) more, More, MORE! And so on that idiotic, unrealistic example, the kids want more, More, MORE and there’s soon less, Less, LESS to give—at least less of anything worth having, that is. So, the parents came from a disposable society and culture and their kids have learned the lesson well. Where does it all lead, this mindset of individualism, “my rights”, “I need”, “Whatever!” “If it feels good, do it!” Well, Ravena found out this past week when a 20-year old forced a young girl to “pleasure” him—at knife-point! Is that what it’s coming to? I want and you’re going to give. Is that what you parents are teaching your children?

Sure, you go out and “realize yourselves,” advance your careers and have the jobs because you want your kids to have a better life. Lies! Stop deceiving yourselves! You grew up in a liberal, post-modern world that emphasized individualism, false-egos, materialism. You have become the drones of capitalism and the 1% and don’t even have the brains to realize it! The lights are on but nobody’s home in Brainville! Duh-ha-ha! The feminists have scandalized womanhood and motherhood; the women have degraded themselves and as a consequence have destroyed American manhood. Just look at some of the male characters portrayed on prime-time TV. Fat, stupid, humiliated. American Idol, reality TV…and you all eat it up, living other people’s lives and not realizing that you’re forgetting your own lives and are becoming increasingly…ugly!

This ain't better when you're 16!

This ain’t better when you’re 16!

So, that’s the reproductive-age adults in our midst. Depressed, overweight, hateful, ignorant, and reproducing a generation of lonely, overfed, over-stimulated, precociously hormonally overdosed (thanks to the food industry’s profit projections), lonely, frightened, aggressive, angry children…children who think they are adults because they’re forced by adults to think that way…it’s easier for the adults when they can manipulate their children into thinking they can fend for themselves while the female and male breeding partners—please note I did not write “parents”— are off “realizing” their “selves.”

Here’s an exchange on unsupervised Facebook activity by a group of middle-school girls (Names have been changed, of course!):who will save us

Jessy: … your the one that needs to grow up, say it to our faces not on facebook…. when you apply for a job they check your facebook, this will come back to haunt youJ

Nancy: Why are you doing this? If they are not going to throw the first punch them be the better person and stop. Your what 13? You shouldn’t be fighting. If they wanna act stupid then let them but do not go down to their level because your making yourself angry just thinking about it and runing your summer. Do you want to do that? Stop the fighting. Seriously.

Angie: no it wont jess u said u wanted to kill me that is against the law u told me how u would do it too so yea dont fuck with me or my family.

Jessy: Nancy, i dont wanna fight her but she keeps sayin this stuff, the truth behind it was that i was losing my temper, and i cant control myself under my temper. and tati that is such a lie i never said that, telling the story from fifth grade/ getting punched in the collar bone, wont kill you for one and for two i said leave me alone before someone gets hurt, implying anyone including myself, example i punched a metal door and have a huge bruise on my wrist

Angie: thats ur own faut i told u not to say it u still said im done i mean idk if i can ever trust u again i mean like my mom sent me to albany

Jessy: not to say what? and idrc if you dont trust me, idrc if we stay friends, just one less person i have to put on my list of people to deal with… i dont really need more than the four or five friends i have

Angie: and ur gonna lose them too if u aint careful

Nancy: Then you need to look for help if you can’t control your temper. Idc who started, idc who wants to fight who. Tati ik you are my cousin but both of you guys GROWN UP!!!!!! Damn, you aren’t little kids. You are teenagers.

Angie: love u too nicki

Jessy: tati just let it go. i am. cuz i dont really care anymore, this is just a fight over i dont eben remember, that i dont even care who wins…

Jessy: so lets just end it

Angie: fine are we friends tho

Nancy: Then stop fighting. Leave this girl alone and girl leave my cousin alone, grow up and stop this. Tati jobs and colleges do go through your Facebook and won’t hire people because of certain things posted.

Angie: idc right now nicki me and her be talking

Nancy: Ok do you not know how to talk now? “Me and her be talking?” Tati if you guys “be” talking then don’t be fighting. There’s no point of it. Its not necessary.

Prissy*: I don’t want to see any more fighting on here

Prissy*: OR ELSE

Angie: or ealse what

Prissy*: jobs will check your facebook, like Nicki said

Nancy: Colleges do to! No matter if your 13 or if you remove the comments. You out something on the internet and it is there FOREVER!

Prissy*: There is no need for this fighting

Prissy*: you can never take it back! pages are cached. (stored)

Prissy*: Good, I hope this is over

* It must be noted that “Prissy” is an adult. Wouldn’t you reasonably expect an adult to have warned parents or teachers of this brewing assault?

Well, readers, it was NOT all over…just a couple of days after this exchange took place on Facebook Jessy was brutally attacked, injured, by another girl at the RCS middle school.

So, what subsurface messages did you read in the exchange between the girls? So what impressed you most? The anger, the aggression, the difference between the girls? Did you catch the anxiety, suspicion of the Internet? How about the language? What does that tell you about where these future parents, women, taxpayers, decision-makers are going to be ten years from now? Where were the parents when all of this was brewing? Where were the teachers and teachers’ aids when the brutality took place?

We may be overly optimistic, but this is what we predict.

We may be overly optimistic, but this is what we predict.

The schools are not “for the kids”, they’re for the teachers!

d-The schools, no matter how advanced your self-deception may be, are not there to parent, and they’re doing a pretty lousy job (judging by the language in the Facebook exchange) of teaching, too! In fact, no matter what lies you are telling yourselves—and believing—the millions ($41.2 for 2013-14) you are shelling out for school budgets are not “for the kids;” those millions are for the teachers, the coaches, the administrators. [Editor’s Note: Voters just approved a $41.2 million school budget for 2013-2014, voted-in three teacher clique lackies James Latter, Jason Hyslop and shyster Patrick Brown (husband of Mary Partridge-Brown, “close friend” of NYSUT (teachers union) rep Matt Miller; voters re-elected a perv, James Latter, to the board. And you think there’s no conspiracy, no corruption going on in the school system?]

Still think there’s no conspiracy, no corruption? Well let’s look at an example from real RCS CSD in-crowd life:  Ron Racey, an RCS CSD athletics staff member is retiring and was making more than $120,000 a year out of the school budget monies…plus benefits! (That’s almost 3x the average household income in the town of Coeymans, by the way!) One man in a non-essential position on the school payroll making 3x more than the average household [Editor’s note: that’s household, not person! The average per capita income in 2010 was $21,686.] Most instructional staff in the RCS CSD are making 2-3x the average household income and 4-6x the average per capita income of RCS residents. Now, do you really think that the schools and the school budgets are “for the kids” or for the teachers and administrators? Think about that again and then think about what kind of morals and ethics the kids have, what their social skills are like, what their outlooks on life are, how they talk, and how they interact. You’ll likely come to the same conclusion we have: The schools are not for the kids, they’re for the teachers!

The village of Ravena budgeted more than $115,000 in the village 2013-14 budget to fund the Ravena Health and Fitness Center…

Bruno-Warren-Deluca Village of Ravena

Bruno-Warner-Deluca
Village of Ravena

We recently reported how the village of Ravena purchased more than $40,000 in used workout machines and equipment from a “friend of the Ravena village board” without public inputs or comment. That’s $40,000 of Ravena taxpayer’s money for junk. In that same article we exposed how the village of Ravena budgeted more than $115,000 in the village 2013-14 budget to fund the Ravena Health and Fitness Center now located in the former space occupied by the RCS Community Library. That’s $115,000 of taxpayer money to fund a Heap and Fatness Center modeled on the same incompetent scheme of the one that failed in Ravena several years ago, when there was actually some businesses left and some residents left in the village. So that’s $115,000 for something that the village does not need at all and will probably be a waste of resources. Well, a waste for some, but it’s a gold mine for others: Mayor John T. Bruno and his hatchet-woman Nancy Biscone-Warner must have owed the Delucas or their godfather for some favor because Guess Who?  got “appointed” to be the director of the Ravena Heap and Fatness Center: Cathy Deluca, the very manager who managed the failed fitness center in Ravena. [Editor’s Note:  Don’t forget this in March for village elections,  when it’s election time and mayor Bruno is running for re-election, and in November, when his minions Martin Case or William Bailey are running for town offices!]

So here’s the breakdown of the kid’s situation in Ravena-Coeymans: You go on Facebook unsupervised and tear each other apart in pseudo-English, threatening to do serious damage to each other (and these are the middle-school girls!). Then you go to school where the administrators are under a state mandated requirement to supervise and oversee students to avoid bullying and to ensure the safety of the kids…and you get the living shite kicked out of you. While all of this is going on the village of Ravena in it’s great wisdom is shelling out more than $115,000 for a Heap and Fatness Center, ignoring the problems in its parks and on the streets, ignoring its young people while padding the palms of its supporters and friends. Just down the street a young woman is being held at knifepoint and sexually abused, and the police stop a drunken father with his teenage daughter in the car (he’s just out of jail, on a suspended license, and under the influence) and allow him to drive on. Voters approve more than $41 million dollars for the RCS CSD school budget, while paying teaching and athletics staff 4-6x the average per capita income of RC residents! And the kids are still being brutalized, still speak English worse than illegal aliens, and are walking the streets or getting raped in the park! Are you really following all of this? WAKE THE HELL UP, PEOPLE!

In Praise of Teachers: Remember Who You Are!

It’s very important that you get the word out to all of your friends, family and neighbors before Mary 21, 2013. Do your part get out the vote and to clean up the RCS district and to put good, competent, and experienced women and men on the RCS board of Education!

We Are Directing this Article, this Letter Actually, to the Teachers in the RCS Central School District, in the Appeal to Consider Who You Are in this Community, and How You are Being Misused and Misrepresented.

RCS Teachers Association President Matthew J. Miller Resorts to Poison Pen Letter But Will the RCS Teachers Fall for It?

RCS Teachers Association President Matthew J. Miller Resorts to Poison Pen Letter
But Will the RCS Teachers Fall for It?

I am addressing this letter to you as a colleague, as a fellow educator, as a teacher. I am addressing this letter to you, our teachers, as members of our community. I am addressing this communiation to our teachers and to our community because I am concerned.

Since ancient times, men, women, boys, girls have looked upon their teachers with admiration, respect, reverence, gratitude. Yes, even love. We have a certain spiritual connection with our teachers, whether in the early years, our growing up years, even into our adult years when “teachers” become “professors” and “supervisors.”

i love my teacherWe read the teachings of saints by whose example we are taught how to live a moral and ethical life. We read the lessons of sages and philosophers who teach us the metaphysical, and the transcendent nature of knowledge, mind, life, meaning.

There was a time when teachers were encouraged to be celibate because it was considered such a sensitive vocation, yes a vocation, similar to that of religious orders. By not marrying, they could exist in the world but not necessarily be of the world. Things change and so they ought to, but some things lose some of their special essence when they or the times change, don’t they?

With the workers movements in the late 19th century we saw churches and politics turn towards social justice for workers. We saw the creation and growth of workers unions, collective bargaining, and the improvement of the lot of the working class. Later, professions joined in the union movement. And so we have it today.

That was both a bane and a blessing, dear colleagues. We know why in the depths of our hearts and we can cogitate about it and rationalize it all but when we do so, we must never lose our hold on what a teacher is and her and his role in society.

Who in today’s society has such responsibility where parents, whole communities entrust their children to the care of one group almost every day, almost all day? Who in today’s society can say that they have the power, authority, and responsibility to build young persons in mind, body and spirit? It’s an awesome responsibility and an awesome privilege. Why on earth would anyone allow anyone from within their group to blacken or to diminish that sacred responsibility? Why would someone, anyone abuse that sacred trust?

Well, dear brothers and sisters, colleagues, that has happened insidiously when the teaching profession was taken over by unions and organized from outside of the community in which the teacher lives and works. That’s what happened when the holy vocation of teaching jumped with both feet into the world and became of the world. (We see similar changes after Vatican II when female religious communities were taken from their schools and thrown out into the world; their entire image changed as did their primary concerns. A tragedy!)

Even worse, the situation is aggravated when teachers become politically motivated, when they divorce themselves from their sacred function as arbiters of morality, ethics, and community, and start becoming, for lack of a better description, profane, ordinary, tainted.

Have you ever wondered why many denominations and religions prohibit their clergy and religious orders from running for public office or holding political office? Why judges cannot campaign on issues but only on the promise to be non-partisan in their interpretation of the law? For the same reasons that teachers are discouraged from public political activity and public dissent: they have an elevated status in the community that requires them to remain “clean.”

When one individual usurps the right to be the public voice of all teachers, all teachers lose.

We are all aware that the RCSTA (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Teachers Association) is the local arm of the New York State United Teachers, NYSUT, the teachers union.

That’s what’s happening now in your very midst. Matt Miller, writing “on behalf of the entire RCS Teachers Association Politial Action Committee,”” is endorsing some RCS board of education candidates and smearing others. Matt Miller the calls this blog “vile,” while publishing vague, ambiguous, and spurious statements on behalf of the RCSTA!  Does the teachers’ Code of Professional Ethics espouse double standards? Is that how the teachers of the RCS school district conduct their business?

We are publishing the full-text of that specious letter to allow the public, this community to make its own decision as to its appropriateness, its intent, and its purpose. Teachers and Mr Miller are employees of this community and the public and this community will be their judge.

Doesn’t a Teachers’ Association, a local teachers union chapter, lose some of it’s sacrosanct status when it jumps into the fray of profane partisan politics—especially when it presumes to endorse candidates of very questionable character on behalf of the district teachers? Since when does our district need a “Political Action Committee?” And shouldn’t that political action committee be advocating that teachers meet their statutory requirements, like training in the provisions of the Dignity Act and ensuring that the teachers are fairly treated. Not acting as the long-arm of local political agendas? Aren’t you embarassed by this display?

One person, power-drunk, vindictive, retaliatory, egomaniacal is painting our entire community of teachers one single color, is speaking for all of you with one single voice, is announcing to this community one single political message: division, discord, misinformation. How long are the teachers of this district going to tolerate Mr Miller’s agendas?

We would be in a most regrettable situation if we expected our teachers to be clones of an ideal. It’s frightening even as a possibility because our educators must certainly represent not only the diversity of Knowlege we expect them to master but also to reflect the diversity of our world. This is what makes an exceptional education model truly superiorly exceptional. But it also has a darker side because it also means that the community of teachers must also reflect the moral composition of the community, that is, there will be saints and devils. We’d like to think the saints keep the devils in check but devils, by their very nature, are slippery little critters, and they’re crazy clever, too. Tradition teaches us that devils are master deceivers, master liars, masters of disguise. I’d only have to remind you of C.F. Lewis’ remarkable and instructive essay, The Screwtape Letters, for a wonderfully entertaining and eye-opening lesson in devilishness. You have devils among the saints and they are working their demonic agenda to poison this community as a whole, but also are taking a terrible toll on your reputation, on your image in this community.

You must do your own housekeeping, though. You must self-police.

Not only has it come to the point of putting a very questionable character, Gerald Deluca, in a position to spy and report on the RCS CSD transporation department and its employees, even despite the fact that a professionally trained, competent investigator/detective Stephen Prokrym, is on the Coeymans police force; your own union representative, Matt Miller, has gone rogue rabid.

While it is true that Mr Matthew J. Miller, your NYSUT representative, has experienced a number of crushing defeats, starting with the present BoE’s refusal to renew his $18,000+ a year double-dipping scam as “energy manager,” and culminating in recent defeats, it should be obvious that Miller’s recent desperate attacks on the board are more the result of desperation and retaliation in the guise of his official mandates. Miller obviously has lost self-confidence and reasonably has also lost the confidence of his constituency, and as a direct consequence of his personal failures, his professional shortcomings, and his political failurs, he is no longer capable of leadership. While I realize I am probably preaching to the choir, it is imperative that the majority of teachers, which is probably not involved in the deplorable, spurious, and specious political agendas we are suffering in this broken community, take this situation in hand and out of Mr Miller’s hands. He is making a tragic mess of a situation in which he should not be involved.

As you are probably aware, many professions include in their ethical statutes or Codes of Professional Conduct admonitions and prohibitions of multiple roles in professional relations. Put simply, you simply cannot serve two masters; one or both is going to get a bum deal, and that’s what we find happening in the RCS Central School District, particularly in the present example of Mr Miller’s role as teacher, taxpayer, union advocate, and political activist. He is spread all over the place and making a vainglorious attempt to establish himself as a leader. He is failing miserably.

One of the reasons for that failure is that he is not focused, and is blinded by his past failures. His agenda is one of half-truth and misinformation, finger-pointing, and polarization.

We have come to possess a recent letter that demonstrates perfectly all of our above points. The letter was provided to us by a teacher who has had enough of the cloak-and-daggar, it is dated May 4, 2013, it was sent out to “Fellow NYSUT MEmbers”, and it is underwritten by Matthew J. Miller and the RCSTA Executive Committee. One paragraph of that letter stands out as a glaring testimony to the spurious and specious tactics that Mr Miller and his associates employ when dealing with what should be dialogue partners. I am certain you know of the letter and its content but in order to refresh your information and to provide the entire text to our readers, we are providing a copy at RCSTA to NYSUT Members.

Taken in or out of context this single paragraph clearly illustrates the scandal, the mean spirit, the paranoia, the vindictiveness, the despair of the signatories, but especially of Matthew J. Miller, who is writing as YOUR, the teachers’,  representative. It is not a communication that should come from the pen of your representative, from the pen of someone who claims to be seeking consensus, much less from a teacher, from a person or persons to whom we entrust the hearts, minds, bodies and spirits of our children. You, as teachers, as professionals, as community members should be shocked that you should be addressed such a missive by a collegue who allegedy speaks with YOUR voices!

stop the lies

The offending paragraph (read the entire letter at Letter) reads in its entirety, as Mr Miller writes:

“It has become very clear that the present majority of the BOE is anti-tax and anti-government, not to mention anti-teacher. Ignore their rhetoric and examine their actions and this becomes very clear. Mr. Vadney, through his wife and child, still has a $15 million dollar notice of claim against the District while stating at the same time that he is looking out for the taxpayers. He has been arrested for his behavior against fellow BOE members and has a history of making threats against fellow members, yet claims to be bullied. He has been dismissive and rude to the minority and to any community member who does not share his views (and let’s not forget his brother’s vile blog and what info he supplies to that blog). Mrs. Sylvester, who ran as an “independent” voice last year, has voted 100% lockstep with the majority and even refused to speak on record about her stance on the budget. We need to restore the respect and integrity to this school community that these folks have wantonly destroyed in the process of making RCS a laughingstock in the Capital Region.”

I am not going to parse and analyze this text in its acrid perversity. Everyone in this community should be able to read it and process it for what it is: unacceptable and inappropriate misinformation devoid of any credibility. It is an embarassment to the teachers, to the District, and to the community who supports its teachers and which will very soon be voting on a budget that is adequate, responsible, and responsive. Anyone who has taken the time to follow its development and to get the facts straight will appreciate and acknowledge the prudence of the proposed budget.

We do feel we should comment very briefly on several points, however:

  • There is absolutely no basis in fact that the present BoE is anti – tax or anti – government. Absent any documentation or any statement of real facts, the statement made by MrMiller and the RCSTA Executive Committee and Political Action Committee is ambiguous, vague, and ignorant.
  • The editorial contributors to this blog have NEVER received input of any kind whatsoever from any RCS board of education member, much less from it’s sitting president, Mr John Vadney. Mr Miller’s and the RCSTA’s assertion is entirely false and intended to misinform you, the teachers, and whomever else might chance to read Miller’s missive. In fact, if Mr Miller has facts or information to support his accusation, we invite him to publish it. But if he has no substantiation or documentation, it’s your duty to confront him, teachers.
  • While we have addressed the purpose of a Notice of Claim, it has little to do with any lawsuit, less to do with the taxpayers of this district, and a great deal to do with notifying the RCS CSD of a serious problem that is in violation of NYS law and which does expose the District to serious liability and risk if the District administrators, teachers and staff do not get it under control. It has been addressed myriad times both in BoE meetings and outside of meetings. In fact, Mr Vadney’s son was brutally attacked when entering the school building, the event was captured on video tape. The then administration tried its best to keep it under wraps and to sideline the parents (this was not an isolated incident at all) and only when met with the former district administrations’ stonewalling did the parents have to bite the bullet to get the administration’s attention. NO LAWSUIT WAS FILED! So what is Mr Miller’s point? why don’t you ask him, NYSUT members.

In fact, ladies and gentlemen, we acquired evidence that Mr Matthew Miller was actually inciting such bullying but because of his “connections” was never publicly disgraced but did receive discipline. As teachers at the high – school, you are probably eminently well aware of this fact.

  • Mr John Vadney was framed by Mr Miller’s associates, including Ms Josephine O’Connor and her father, Joseph Tracey, O’Connor, whom you know well and also should be aware of her personal difficulties and her relationship with local ringleader Gerald Deluca (the same Gerald Deluca who is spying on your busdrivers). There were many witnesses, including a higher level NYSED officer, present who stood ready to testify in favor of Mr Vadney. The whole issue was a set up as was Mr Vadney’s arrest by local Coeymans police even after an order of protection was granted by a Bethlehem town judge. The matter was after a protracted battle summarily dismissed as having no basis in fact. This is the truth. It is public information and has been widely published in local media. Why then, we must ask you, is Mr Miller propagating this disinformation to his own colleagues and constituents?!?
  • In view of Mr Miller’s unsubstantiated claim that Mr Vadney has been rude and dismissive, the public record, unlike Mr Miller, does not lie. All one has to do is randomly review any of the many video recordings of RCS BoE meetings and make an informed decision. Nowhere whatsoever is there any evidence of rudeness or dismissiveness by Mr Vadney; quite the contrary, he is uniformly courteous, dignified, and respectful. Reviewing those same videos we can hardly say the same for Mr Miller’s various performances, nor for Ms Whalen’s or Mr Latter’s, even less so for Mr Deluca, Miller’s godfather.
  • Miller has absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Mr Vadney’s brother is operating a “vile blog.” If  Miller has substantial factual information to prove his statement, we would be delighted to see it. We are sure you would be, too.
  • Why Mr Miller has to pick on Ms Judy Sylvester is beyond us.  How she ran in the campaigning last year and how she votes is nothing that Mr Miller is competent to judge. Ms Sylvester, moreover, has indeed spoken several times on the record about her position on the budget. All anyone has to do is review the videos! In fact, her finals stand on the budget was to vote to approve it to put it out to the public’s vote! Where have you been Mr Miller?
  • As to the candidates being promoted by Matthew Miller on YOUR behalf, as YOUR RCSTA president, as the representative of YOUR NYSUT teachers union, just a couple of words:
    • James Latter. Mr Latter has a substantial history of misconduct that ranges from FERPA confidentiality violations to verbal abuse of students. We have in our possession internal documents incriminating Latter in some very serious connections that should have resulted in his immediate removal from the RCS CSD BoE, but for some uncanny reason, did not (during the regrettable and dark Smith regime). We are in the process of redacting specific names in those documents and will be publishing them soon on this blog. Once published, Mr Latter’s BoE career will be finished. Miller is or should be aware of these documents but he continues to promote Latter. Perhaps the teachers would benefit from a more substantial reason why Miller is backing latter.
    • Patrick Brown. Patrick Brown, in a very brief space of time as a candidate, has managed to present himself as simply what he is: a shyster who uses lawyer doublespeak to flamboozle his listeners. We’ve already mentioned the fact that he lives and is registered to vote at an address in Feura Bush (town of New Scotland) but said at a recent Meet the Candidate event that he lives in the town of Coeymans. Liar or fraud? Whatever. He then said that he did not support the school budget and would not vote to approve it. Yet his campaign signs are flanked by Vote YES! signs. Which is it? To the extent of our investigations no one has ever seen him at a BoE meeting, much less address the meeting. Now he’s asking for residents’ votes and is supported by your RCSTA president, Mr Matt Miller but no reasoning is given for this recommendation of support. There is no basis for such support in view of Mr Brown’s past lack of involvement in this district.

Brown proudly announces that he is thick in government relations and an advisor to the Cuomos (Mario and Andrew). But aren’t these the very same Cuomos who have a track record of pulling every possible trick to deprive local school districts of state funding? Aren’t these the same Cuomos who have sucked every possible support from local governments only to pad the pockets in Albany and to embellish downstate moneypits like NYC? Aren’t these the same Cuomos who started all of this complicated and ingenuous 2% tax levy nonsense? And your RCSTA president and the RCSTA Political Action Committee are endorsing this Brown shyster?!? What are we missing in this picture? Maybe some sanity?

    • Jason Hyslop. Hyslop is running as a member of the Friends of RCS troika or triumvirate, whichever you prefer. He is vanilla and unconvincing, not that that in and of itself would disqualify, discredit, or denounce him. Our concern is his choice of company and how that will play out in his performance on the board. Can he be his own person or will be an owned member. He is at best unconvincing and his scripted responses do not represent convincing initiative or vision. So why is Mr Miller stuffing him down your throats? Best ask Mr Miller.

James Latter is a complete embarassment and should never have continued on the RCS BoE after the debacle of his having violated the FERPA law and having profanely disparaged a student. Peter Brown is an opportunist who suddenly appears out of nowhere (but he’s the husband of Mary Partridge-Brown, a close social and political associate of Matt Miller). Peter Brown’s record is one that is diametrically opposed to anything that would benefit our local school district. Moreover, Mr Brown has cast certain doubt on his integrity by openly misrepresenting his residence and making contradictory statements on the 2013-14 school budget. Mr Brown is patently a liar and a fraud. Jason Hyslop is his own unfavorable recommendation. Mr Hyslop had the option of running on his own, independently, honestly. Instead, he chose to be part of a troika in union with Latter and Brown. That was a very regrettable choice but it was a choice freely made by Mr Hyslop. Hyslop has thus identified himself and has made a clear statement of his principles and his agenda. Together with his inexperience, his ambiguous, scripted statements, his choice of running mates has spoken volumes. He’s part of the agenda and unworthy of the trust to be a board of education member.

But the real challenge for Mr Miller is to put up or shut up. It’s inane to send out a letter to a group of sophisticated and highly educated colleagues when such letter is gibberish, a perfect example of a defense tactic. Don’t you want solid facts? Reliable information? Truth?

If one of your own number has had the courage to disclose this letter it can only mean that many more in your ranks are probably feeling the same way. Enough is enough!

But our question to you is this: How long are you going to allow Mr Miller to play his ridiculous games making believe he represents your interests. How much longer do you feel this community is going to tolerate this sort of doubledealing before there’s a backlash…against the very people the present board majority has supported 200%.

How long will the good teachers in this district continue to put up with being fed total nonsense, total dysinformation, outright lies before you step up to the plate and do the responsible thing: Say NO! to the lies, and YES! to the facts. In short be the educators we hope you strive to be and the educators you are being paid by this community to be. Ethical, rational, exemplary.

When all else is collapsing around our ears in this community and beyond, we have to have our ideals, our heroes, if you will. But those ideals, those heroes have to be credible, honest, trustworthy. As always, as instructors and educators, even as public speakers and presenters, we have to be aware of the impression we make on our audience. And it’s time to ask yourselves as community leaders, as educators, is the image that is being presented to us by your spokesperson Matthew J. Miller, the impression and image you want us to walk away with? Do YOU really trust him to speak for you, to represent you, to inform you?

Matt Miller is spent, he’s passé, he’s in on the slippery slope to nowhere; our teachers are in this for the long haul. Stick with us. We need your support and we need our experienced, honest, and committed boardmembers, not Miller’s political agenda lackeys!

How Do You Know It’s a Coeymanazi?

A Reader Posted On the Friends of RCS Facebook Page and Asked Very Fair Questions. Going Back to the Friends of RCS Facebook Page Not Only Were the Questions Not Answered, the Questions Had Been Deleted.

If the Friends of RCS Facebook Page is and Example of the Dialogue Their Candidates are Offering...

If the Friends of RCS Facebook Page is and Example of the Dialogue Their Candidates are Offering…

So We Visited the Friends of RCS Facebook Page to Verify the Report and Guess What?!?

We found a cutsie little quip on the Friends of RCS Facebook page,

We LOVE all of the dialogue and discussion that has been taking place over the past few weeks—

Question: But what kind of “dialogue and discussion” is it that the Friends of RCS so “LOVE“.  (Well, if you visit their page, it’s a dialogue between some unidentified “Friend” and a handful of commenters. Looks like what we’d call a “propaganda mill“.)

Answer: The Friends of RCS idea of “dialogue and discussion” does NOT include relevent questions. What it does include is ONLY what supports their perverse propaganda. So if it’s open and free discussion you’re looking for, you won’t find it on Friends of RCS. Here are the questions the reader sent us that were posted and then deleted by Friends of RCS:

Can anyone explain Pat Brown’s contradictory statements made at the Meet the Candidates Forum? Does he live in Coeymans or New Scotland (Feura Bush)? If he doesn’t support the budget and wouldn’t vote to approve the budget why are Vote YES signs around his campaign signs? Is it true he’s never attended an RCS BoE meeting? That he has never provided any inputs at BoE meetings?

Just curious about these questions and what Friends think.

Thanks very much!

The reader allegedly “liked” a couple of posts but the “likes” were left alone, but his/her questions and comments disappeared, were deleted. One comment was made in response to Jerry Deluca:

Jerry DeLuca: Read the bios, come ask questions. I am sure once you compare you will see which of the candidates will truly work for the best interest of the community, our school and our students. There are 3 candidates of the highest quality and integrity — you decide. May 21 is the day to vote.

Comment Posted: Yes, I do agree that Vadney, Polyak and Sylvester are the best candidates for the district. Thanks for pointing that out, Jerry.

This is a clear indication of what we have been saying all along: The Friends of RCS is a closed, exlcusive club that does not like outsiders and does not tolerate free speech, legitimate, relevant questions, or dissent.

Friends Like Censorship ALL LIES So Do Their Candidates: Latter, Hyslop, Brown!

Friends of RCS Like Censorship
ALL LIES
So Do Their Candidates:
Latter, Hyslop, Brown!

UPDATE (Coeymans May 12, 2013): Our reader now reports that not only were his/her questions and comment deleted, Friends of RCS have now blocked him/her from even posting a note or comment! Is that because of our report? People, this is CENSORSHIP at its worst and it’s nothing new in Ravena-Coeymans. !

So, what does that tell you about any candidates the Friends of RCS support? That any Candidates supported by the Friends of RCS are “Friends” only because they do not tolerate free speech, legitimate, relevant questions, or dissent. In other words, all the public statements that James Latter, Jason Hyslop, and Pat Brown make are purest bullshit! They won’t represent YOU, they’ll represent the clique run by Jerry Deluca and his so-called Friends of RCS gang.

At least two commenters responding to our article,  Deluca, Vosburgh, Hughes: Irrelevant, Risky Questions, seem to have hit the nail on the head when commenting on the video of the so-called Meet the Candidates forum “organized” by the A.W. Becker PTA (that is, Denise Carl Hughes and Jerry Deluca). They find the whole circus a “mockery”:

There was little benefit to me by watching the video. I wanted to know something about Mr. Hyslop, Mr. Brown or Mr. Polyak, each of whom I know very little. First, let us consider the questioners. Many of them had long ago decided who they were going to vote for. Then what was the purpose of their questions considering that they were not trying to find out about those that were running. Was it to ask questions that would put some of the candidates in a bad light or a good light?…This meet the candidates event was a mockery, there was nothing about meeting the candidates…Was this mockery planned by the PTO/PTA to come out this way, or did it get away from them. They really should apologize particularly to the new people. They did have some opportunity, but talking about lawsuits, who painted the concession stand, etc was a waste. [Cookie, May 10, 2013]

And another comment:

I really didn’t think the questions were relevant; none of the candidates were embroiled in those controversial issues. [Simon, May 10, 2013]

We tend to agree. It all seemed like a lynching and a witch burning from where we were observing. A couple, but by far the minority, of questions did address real issues, like the bullying problem, but the rest? Pure attempts to smear or to misinform. (Read our commentary on the May 8, 2013, A.W. Becker PTA Meet the Candidates event at  Deluca, Vosburgh, Hughes: Irrelevant, Risky Questions.)

The bottom line is: We’re going to blow our own horn, now. This blog posts all comments regardless of their origin, even those that are downright insulting. We do have a policy of posting public warnings to individuals who are plain uncivil or abusive, asking them to clean up their act and stay on-topic or their comments will be trashed. That’s fair. We sincerely love discussion and dialogue that’s open, fair, and civil.

Birds of a feather flock together!

Latter-Hyslop-Brown? or is it Denise Carl Hughes-Eileen Vosburgh-Jerry Deluca

Latter-Hyslop-Brown?
or is it
Denise Carl Hughes-Eileen Vosburgh-Jerry Deluca?

We truly believe that the leaders of Friends of RCS and their Facebook editor represent something very bad for this community,  and they don’t even try to conceal it! What can we possibly think of the candidates they claim to support after the censorship on the Facebook site and the circus that was announced to be a Meet the Candidates event?

for sale home

There may be something behind all of this: Cheap real estate. Let’s ask Prudential Real Estate’s Josephine “Josie” Dority-Biscone, Marty Case or Joe Neri, Michael Biscone, Jerry Deluca, Laverne “Larry” Conrad about this soon. Far-fetched? Maybe. But where there’s smoke there’s fire.

ANSWER to Our Title Question: It’s either an Asskisser (a.k.a. intimidated resident) or a Coeymanazi wherever you see a Latter-Hyslop-Brown sign. Ride through Ravena and all you’ll probably see are For Sale signs in front of homes, empty storefronts, and Latter-Hyslop-Brown signs. Or you could go to an A.W. Becker PTA Meeting.

Can This Be True? Let’s Investigate! The Latest in Child Abuse at RCS…

We’ve Just Received Another Report on Child Abuse at the RCS High School

STOP!!!
THE ABUSE!

RETALIATION
ON KIDS BY ADULTS!

The Pattern of Abuse and Retaliation Continues at the RCS High School. As if the Continuing Epidemic of Unrelenting Bullying Isn’t Enough, Bully Teachers, Administrators, Ineffectual Principals, A Totally Useless Superintendent, and Now the Bottom-Feeders are Joining in the Orgy of Child Abuse at RCS!

Abandoned!
An abuse of trust!

The report is that a young student was abandoned at the RCS high school yesterday and refused transportation home. because he didn’t have a bus pass.  The student is a regular, normal, well-behaved student at the high school, travels on the bus daily, and his parents are community leaders. The busdriver and the dispatcher knew the kid had a legitimate right to be transported home. Is this the only way the corrupt and perverse teachers, administrators and support persons in the RCS school district can make a point: take it out on the kids?!?

The student’s mother had to go and get him. When the student’s mother called the bus garage to find out about the so-called bus pass requirement, a lower level employee, Darcy Hunter, a transportation dispatcher, was rude and talked over the mother when she called to find out what happened.

We’ve also received an unconfirmed report that the school recently (this week) also forced a special ed student to walk home from school. According to the report, the school couldn’t figure out what bus he was supposed to be on! The poor kid was so confused that he walked home! Can you imagine a special ed kid walking home on US Rt 9W? Doesn’t the busdriver or the aide have the brains to help the kid or to contact the school office if there’s a question? What are the taxpayers of this distict paying for and getting for their school tax dollars??? Answer: Abuse and more abuse. And the district’s children are being put at risk!

But if the Board of Education tries to do anything about it like launch an investigation, make inquiries, inaugurate policy and procedure…Guess what? The Coeymanazis are right there to stonewall and are all over them! But they continue the mantra, “It’s for the kids!” Go figure!

Is this how you treat the trust parents place in you to protect the welfare of their children? Is this your idea of serving the kids? Is this what “It’s for the kids!” means to you perverts?

We demand that Jennifer Houck, RCS Transportation Director, Hunter’s boss, investigate immediately and take disciplinary action against the bus driver and especially Darcy Hunter. Scandalous! Shameful! Putting a child at risk and under such stress!  Check into it, parents!!! Your child will be next!

Here we have a school district with a RCS Board of Education that is trying to set things right and is ambushed at every turn by groups calling themselves, strangely enough, Friends of RCS and More, and a RCS Sports Association that acts like its a part of the distict athletics department, but is an outside organization that operates with some very strange notions of accountability and paperwork. The antagonists are constantly waving the banner, “It’s for the kids!” While bullying continues at the school, junior high-school students are attempting to commit suicide at the school, and school buses are refusing to transport students home, abandoning them at the school! To add insult to injury, parents have to be verbally abused and disrespected by the low-lifes that are being paid with public funds!

What is going on with these crazies?
If anyone has any more information on this crime,
we want to know about it!

Shouldn’t your Albany County District Attorney, The New York State Education Department, the New York State Attorney General, BOCES be Investigating these Incidents? Where are they?

We Make You
Perverts Public Enemies!

Don’t Be Stupid: Eliminate the Coeymans Police Department!

News Flash: We’ve received a report that a male student at the RCS Junior High School attempted suicide today, and tried to hang himself. The information we received is that he was bullied. Another student, the son of the harassed busdriver who was fired in retaliation for filing a complaint against a pervert RCS high-school athletics coach, is now being harassed and bullied at the RCS high-school and the lunch room attendants (they’re paid $25.00 an hour!) are standing by doing nothing! Is there another huge lawsuit in the making? Caught on video: An RCS bus aide caught slapping a physically challenged student! (The bus driver has responsibility for everything but didn’t intervene nor did the driver report the incident as per the law!) The mandatory training required by the anti-bullying Dignity Act has not yet been completed in the RCS schools and Superintendent Elizabeth R. Smith is taking her “vacation” and nowhere around for the start of the school year! She don’t care…she’s a short-timer!

Albany County Sherif Craig Apple estimates that taking over the Coeymans P.D. would save residents about $500,000.

Craig Apple, ACS
Professional Law Enforcement
Community Leader, Family Man
Learn More About Him at Craig

Craig Apple, who grew up in this area and graduated from RCS, assured residents:
“There is no job loss…All you will get is a different color uniform and a different car.”

The New Look for Coeymans
NICE!

Coeymans Population according to the 2010 census was 7418 down from 8151 in 2000. The Average number of household members was 2.85. But the Coeymans Police Department has bloated out of proportion to the shrinking community.

Turn it Over and Save!

We were suspicious of Dirty Hands Deluca’s math so we did our own calculations of the savings to Coeymans residents if the Coeymans P.D. were eliminated. So, if a total of about $500,000 is saved by turning the Coeymans P.D. over to the Albany County Sheriff’s Department, the savings per resident in the would amount to $0.674 cents per person or $1.92 per day per person ($500,000 / 7418 residents x 2.85 persons per household = $1.92). This represents a savings per average household of about $700.00 per year ($1.92 x 365) per household! (Note that Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, speaking on behalf of the Police Benevolent Association based his low figure on persons with a $200,000 house! But what else would you expect from Dirty-Hands Jerry. An honest figure, maybe? No way, José!).

A savings of about $700 a year per household! Imagine that! Now why didn’t Dirty-Hands Jerry mention that?

So the president of the Coeymans Police Benevolent Association couldn’t even be bothered to address the Coeymans town board meeting and so Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca a member of the Coeymanazi HQ, a.k.a. the Coeymans Police Department,  presented the misinformation and the screwed up math for him. Why would the PBA even bother? There’s nothing in it for them.

So, here are the FACTS
(the TRUE facts, not the “Deluca factoids”):

If a highly trained, accountable, and professional law enforcement organization like the Albany County Sheriff’s Department were to take over the Coeymans Police Department, what do you think would happen to Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca? Well, here’s what would happen:

As most of the Town of Coeymans knows,Coeymans police chief  Dimwit Darlington’s predecessor had the good sense to have gotten rid of Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca but Dimmy Darlington hired most of pervs back who were dumped by the previous professional police chief. That’s what Coeymans has to work with today, the Perv Patrol.

First of all, if Gerald Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca were kept on in any form, he’d be supervised by no-nonsense supervisors and be held accountable to well-established policies and procedures. That would probably kill him outright.

Secondly, Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca would be supervised and would not have the influence he now has as far as influencing the police work in the Coeymans P.D. or continuing the coercion and retaliation that goes on there.

But the reality is this: He’d probably be out of a job on day one of the takeover because he’s useless and has no training. The highly-trained, professional, and respectable Albany County Sheriff’s Department wouldn’t give Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca a job passing out Easter eggs in the men’s room. (He just might get a job as Big Bubba’s bitch in the county jail, though, where he belongs!) So Dirty-Hands Jerry is probably scared shiteless even thinking that the ACSD would take over the Coeymanazi H.Q.! He’d be out of a job for sure.

I’ll be waiting for you, Jerry!
Big Bubba, P.O. Box Albany County Jail

Gregory “Dimwit” Darlington is an even worse widget. Darlington has such a high opinion of himself and such a low opinion of the town of Coeymans that pays his exhorbitant salary  that he’s quoted in the Times Useless as having said:

“Without us, I feel this town will collapse.”

Is that so? The Town of Coeymans would simply collapse without Dimwit Darlington to hold it up? Seriously, is that what all those supporters think, too? That’s a very serious statement Dimmy Darlington is making, especially considering that it took him at least three tries to pass the police chief examination! Now, where do you think Dimmy Darlington would end up once the ACSD took over the Coeymanazi H.Q. You guessed it, he’d take Dirty-Hands Deluca’s job handing out Easter eggs in the men’s room (Dirty-Hands Jerry would be kept busy by Big Bubba.)

Coeymans Police Chief
Gregory “Dimmy” Darlington
Gets a New Uniform
(And a Job he’s Qualified For)

Do you even have to wonder why the Coeymans town supervisor Stephen Flach and the Albany County Sheriff didn’t consult with Dimmy Darlington before moving on the plan to eliminate the Coeymans P.D.? Here’s why: He’s useless. It’s the biggest slap in the face when even your town supervisor doesn’t have enough respect for you to ask you about your own department. Same applies for the Sheriff. And what about the rest of the Coeymans town board, didn’t the latest loser in town, Tom Dolan, the so-called town board liaison officer to the Coeymans P.D. even share the news with Dimmy Darlington? Now there’s a real friend for ya, Dimmy! Tom “No-Fracking-Loser” Dolan left you high and dry, too.

So, Coeymans residents, what are you losing if a professional police force takes over the local police department? You lose at most  two Dimmies. And in addition to an accountable, well-trained, professional police force, each household stands to save about $700 a year!

And Coeymans town residents can certainly find a use for another $500,000 a year, I’m sure. Like rehabing Main Street, maybe, and attracting some business? Or perhaps updating the sewer system to keep the feces off the lawn furniture? Or helping out with the RCS Community Library?

Mr Flach has a great idea and he should be supported. The Coeymans Police Department must go and the professionals at the ACSD are ready to provide professional law enforcement with practically no change except it will be for a half-million less than what you’re now paying. Don’t be misled by the self-interests of the Dimmies and the misinformation of the PBA, or the lies that Dirty-Hands Jerry feeds you so that he can stay head honcho of the Coeymanazi H.Q. and you have to live with business as usual!

Elizabeth “Betsy” R. Smith a.k.a. Superintendent Double-Talk

Mr James Latter Recently Informed the Community that The Superintendent of Schools ‘Does Not have to Answer Residents’ Questions.’

Well, Mr Latter, Although You Were Out of Order and Very Wrong to Have Written that, You’ll Be Pleased to Know that RCS Central School District Superintendent Elizabeth R. Smith Doesn’t Answer Residents’ Questions.

She Just Double-talks Them to Oblivion!

Well, That’s Being Too Fair, Actually, She’s Apparently Dyslexic … We’ve already Established That She’s Illiterate (see our article,  The RCS District RFP Is an Embarassment and a Sham!) but We Now Think She Has a Much More Serious Problem: Indifference!

But she did little when she was in the job, now she’s given her notice–after she’s padded her retirement checks with the $140,000 salary she’s ending with–and so she can wait it out another month or two, she’s a shorttimer now. She’ll leave the mess for the next crook who gets hired to the position.

We covered the illicit, delinquent, and illegal conduct of the RCS athletics coaches when they asked students to sell raffle tickets on behalf of the RCS Sports Association (see our article, Raffle, Anyone?). It was clear in that article that there was serious misconduct going on right under Brian Bailey’s and Elizabeth Smith’s noses!  We also published Superintendent Smith’s idiotic response (rather, refusal to respond) to that situation, as well in our article, No Response From District Office, Ms. Smith. It gets worse, still, because when we published our article on our suspicion of illegal money transactions at the National Bank of Coxsackie by the RCS Sports Association, there was still no action taken (see our article More Money Questions…Who’s Cashing the Checks?)

No Answers, Betsy?

So, even after all of that scandalous misconduct, we are still asking why the RCS district offices, the Superintendent, especially, and the Board of Education, too, have not addressed these concerns and put their foot down squarely on the culprits’ necks?!? We’re still asking WHO? is the RCS Sports Association, WHAT? are they doing having the coaches hand out raffle tickets to students to sell, and HOW MUCH? the RCS Bottle Blitz is paying to use school facilities!

We recently obtained a copy of a letter request addressed to Superintendent Elizabeth “Betsy” R. Smith, dated September 11, 2012 and received at the District Offices on September 12, 2012, in which a concerned resident requests information regarding the action taken against the RCS athletics coaches who writes:

“Could you please advise me of the action taken with the coaches that told the students to sell raffle tickets? It is my understanding that this is illegal and the students again were placed in a situtation that gave them no recourse except to do what they were told for fear of reprisal. Also, who is collecting this money, and who and what will these funds be used for? Many community members are very concerned that inappropriate behavior on the part of our teachers/coaches continues and feel it is essential that administration take immediate, legal action against any and all staff who continue to disregard policy and law further damaging the welfare of the students as well as this district’s reputation.
[Name Redacted]

The letter is very clear in that the writer asks specific questions:

  1. What is the action taken with the coaches who unlawfully told students to sell raffle tickets?
  2. Who is collecting the money?
  3. For whom and for what will the funds be used?
  4. The question is also asked impliedly “What action the administration is going to take against any and all staff who disregard policy and law, endangering students and damaging the district’s reputation?”

The questions are pretty clear, aren’t they? You’d expect the Superintendent of schools to be able to read and understand such simple language, wouldn’t you? After all, it’s clear English, and it’s really quite clear and plainly stated, isn’t it?

But the question is nagging: Why doesn’t Superintendent Smith simply answer the questions? She simply refuses to answer our questions or those posed by residents! Why is that, we wonder!?! So, here’s your Superintendent of Schools, Ms Elizabeth “Betsy” R. Smith‘s “answer” to the resident’s written questions:

Thank you for your letter, which I opened today.  [Name Redacted] delivered it to me after our Building, Grounds and Transportation meeting yesterday.   All RCS coaches of fall sports were notified of the law restricting raffle ticket sales to adults 18 and over.

“Community Organizations and Parent-Teacher Organizations may conduct fund raisers and raffles.  Those organizations can be contacted for information about their fund raisers.

Regards,
“Betsy”

Am I missing something, or what? “Thank you…[Name Redacted] delivered the letter…All RCS coaches…were notified of the law restricting raffle ticket sales to adults 18 and over.” What about the coaches distributing the tickets to students and telling them to sell them? Did you miss that Betsy? Didn’t you understand the question, Betsy? Need your eyes examined, Betsy?

Wot Duhn’t U Understand, Ms Smith?

“Community Organizations and Parent-Teacher Organizations may conduct fund raisers and raffles.” Duh! So what, Betsy? Who cares?
Those organizations can be contacted for information about their fund raisers.” What in hell are you blathering about, Betsy? Have you lost your mind? Who cares? Answer the damned questions, why don’t you?!?

So parents, residents, community members, on September 18, 2012, at the very next board of education meeting, we urge you to press Ms Smith for a more detailed, responsive answer to these questions we’ve raised in our article about the raffle ticket sales (see Raffle, Anyone?), Smith’s command of the English language, and the progress made in getting the required documentation from the RCS Sports Association that verifies their legality.

Who’s Cleaning Up the Money?

We will also be interested in parents, residents, taxpayers, and community members pressing Ms Smith and the Board of Education to know how much the RCS Bottle Blitz was charged for the use of the high school cafeteria on September 14th. As an outside program not affiliated with the RCS school district and not a registered organization of any kind, the RCS Bottle Blitz would be subject to hourly charges for the use of the school property, just like the community sports clubs are being charged. We need to know, How much? Who’s paying for opening and closing the building, the insurance, the utilities, the clean-up, etc.?

Superintendent Smith’s Legacy to the RCS Central School District
(+ A Couple of Lawsuits)

So, Superintendent Smith, we have just one last question for you: If YOU, the Superintendent of Schools for this RCS central school district, can’t read and comprehend simple English in a short letter asking very clear and concise questions for the purpose of answering them just as plainly and concisely, how do you intend to convince parents, taxpayers of this district that they are getting what they think they’re paying for.

Also, will you please now answer the questions the resident asked in the above letter. Thank you!

It’s Those Voices In James Latter’s and Elizabeth Smith’s Heads that Are Causing
All the Problems!

Parents Can Come Out Kicking and Punching Now. You Don’t Have to be Afraid Anymore!
If They Retaliate, Sue Them and Take Their Jobs!

The New York State Anti-Bullying Law, the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), Went Into Full Effect on July 1, 2012.
The Law Now Makes Teachers, Principals, Administrators, School Districts Responsible and Liable for Acts of Bullying that Take Place on School Property or in the Context of School Activities. Now, In Addition to their Civil Liabilities for the Welfare of School Children, the Law Makes the Schools Co-Liable for Bullying of Students on Students,  or Teachers, TA’s, or Coaches on Students. But It’s Up to YOU, It’s YOUR Responsibility as Parents, to be Proactive and Public in Protecting Your Children!

Make the School District Accountable
It’s the Law Now!

We just received another request from a concerned RCS parent with a child or children in the RCS schools who writes [names redacted to protect the individual’s identity and to ensure confidentiality]:

The Parent’s Plea:

“Hello Im another concerned parent of RCS children …I was hoping you assist me. Simply what I am Looking for is…What lawyer is representing the [redacted] family in their suit against the RCS district? I ask since I am in the process of seeking my own legal advice for bullying. If you don’t know or feel uncomfortable disclosing that information hopefully you can suggest an attorney who isn’t so-called “corrupted”.
“Also would you be able to direct me to any other possible resources out there that may be able to help me?
“I have followed the “chain of command” regarding the bullying since October 2011, teacher- guidance – principal – superintendent – CSE – teacher- principal -superintendent &  recently a email to the board (no replies to the email).
“Simply put .. I’m at a large brick wall of a dead end- and need direction, to insure the safety of my child.”

Our Response:

Your original message was forwarded to us by one of our contributors whom you contacted with your request but did not have the information you needed. We hope we can offer you some help in this response.

No child deserves to be hurt socially, emotionally or psychologically, least of all in our schools!

First of all, any concerned parent would be well advised to seek out other concerned parents and to join together to seek representation as a group. First of all, a group has more backbone to pursue such a campaign, there’s “power in numbers.” Secondly, in a group, you can all share your experiences and establish a pattern of abuse and indifference by the administration, essential probative items for a good case. Thirdly, in a group you can share not only stories but also expenses. Getting individual representation might be difficult but if a group of you approach an attorney, s/he’ll have a better feel for the situation and can put together a better strategy. Fourthly, the District would be more intimidated and more prone to settle if confronted by a group of parents represented by an attorney who is ready to kick ass.

One of the problems you parents who contact us have is that you say you want to protect your children but are willing only to go half way. You want to do what you’ve been doing for years–not only you but so many others–creeping around in the shadows, trying to stay invisible, yet saying you want to stop the bullying or solve the problems. But you’ve got to stand up and come out into the light to do that.

You parents are not going to get anything done by skulking around in the shadows, not wanting your names mentioned, not wanting to tell your stories to the public, wanting to assert your rights but wanting also for someone else to carry the load for you. Sorry, that doesn’t work.

Individually, your lovely school district is going to eat you up one-by-one when you come with your complaint. You think your tax dollars are going to the children in your schools, do you? Just wait until you have an issue with the school district, that same school district who is always telling the voters, “We’re here for the kids.” But not your kids. You may have already experienced how concerned they are for the kids: did you get any response to your complaints or inquiries about the incidents you are talking about? Probably not. The RCS CSD turns into an entirely different animal when it comes to having to deal with a problem, especially when it might make them look bad. And it’s an ugly beast when it comes to responding to a complaint about a child’s welfare in the schools; that really makes them look bad. Don’t you think you should be telling the world about that?

It’s usually very unlikely that the District will respond to e-mails, they’re too dangerous. But what I do and always suggest first and foremost is that you document everything in writing in a notebook or some other way as soon as possible after an event or incident or contact. That’s very important when it comes to evidence and any hearings or court appearances. If it’s written down as soon as possible after it happens it’s 1000x better than plain old memory. Second, put all your requests into letter form, clearly stating the problem (no emotions, just the facts, please), times, dates, names, and what you want answered. Always include a reasonable request for something to be done that will make you happy or satisfy you. Then mail it to the school principal, the RCS CSD superintendent, and to the president of the board of education. Send the copy to the RCS CSD superintendent by certified mail, return receipt requested. Then you have proof you made the inquiry, proof they received it, and then proof they didn’t bother to respond.

As for sharing information about someone else’s representation or case, I’m afraid I”m not in the position to to do that. But what I would suggest is that you call the individual or drop by that individual’s home, they’re very welcoming and helpful, and talk to them about your needs and concerns. Talking directly to persons with similar problems is immensely helpful and healing. It’s worked well with many types of problems.

If you still want to go at it alone, I would suggest you contact the New York State Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service at 1 (800) 342-3661 lr@nysba.org, or Department for Children, Youth and Families Programs & Services at the Child Protective Services (CPS) Hotline: 1 (800) 342-3720, tell them what you need, a ask for a recommendation for assistance in moving forward with your case.

I’d also suggest that you get out of that Democrat cesspool of political party machinery and give Pete Lopez, your NYS Assemblyman for the 127nd Assembly District (but running for the newly formed 102nd district that includes Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, New Baltimore are part of his district), tell him about the problems you’re having, about the response you’re getting from the District, ask for his help. Tell him this bullying problem is big here and obviously big everywhere if the legislatures of a large number of states have actually passed laws like the the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA),  New York’s “Dignity Act“! That’s why he’s there. Besides, if you hadn’t already heard, it’s an election year and the candidates will be chomping at the bit for sensitive issues to toy with.” In fact, call everyone who’s running and not part of the local political machine (that would exclude Tom Dolan who has done NOTHING with regard to helping parents with the bullying problem–he’s part of the political gang that’s part of the problem!). And you haven’t heard a peep out of the Delucas, the Bartletts, the Whalens, Engels, Revilles, Latters, Misuracas, Leput-Hommels or any of the other Coeymanazi bunch about the bullying problem. Of course not! They’re part of the system and you don’t buck your own system. And besides, they’re all out doing something ultra-important: collecting bottles. Do you get it? If it’s easy and gets them brownie points they’ll do it; if it involves getting their hands dirty and being prophets, Forget it! Just give them glory and they’ll love you for it but don’t expect much in return.

So, what I’d recommend first of all is to find like-minded allies, especially parents whose children were bullied in the past and may have graduated or left the RCS school district. They may be very willing to step out with you. Then, contact parents with children still in the RCS school district and get together, explaining how important it is to join up and step out. You’ll get nothing done if you and others like you keep hiding. You’ll never be able to say that you actually did sometihing to protect your children and some day they might actually ask you, “Why didn’t you, mom, dad? What will you answer?

Of course I will respect your request to keep our conversations private but I would also ask you to please continue to keep us updated on what you are doing and how it’s working for you. It helps us to help others in your situation or in similar situations to know how our advice is working for them.

Good luck!

Teacher- and Coach-on-Student Bully

Keep in mind the types of bullying that go on in our schools includes student-on-student, teacher-on-student, coach-on-student (sometimes even teacher-on-teacher, and student-on-teacher, believe it or not)! We can talk about various types of bullying that often appear simultaneously:

  • Physical: pushing, kicking, assault with objects, etc. It occurs more frequently in primary than in secondary. But don’t be led astray by this generalization, as student’s get older, physical abuse becomes more covert, more calculated, more dangerous and symptomatic of bigger problems ahead! Research shows that bully teachers and coaches have a history of being bullied. There’s also evidence of a bullied-connection withviolent, sociopathic behavior in adults.
  • Verbal abuse and name-calling, slurs in public, highlighting physical defects, etc.. It is the most common and can leave very deep scars. Words do harm and harm deeply.  Teachers be especially aware of this in yourselves.
  • Psychological: undermine the individual’s self-esteem and foster their sense of fear. The psychological harm is really a common feature of any bullying but it is a standalone form of bullying, too.
  • Social: attempts to isolate the members of other groups, or to exclude certain persons or classmate as members of a group. Scarring. Can produce problems further down the road in the young adult and the mature adult (true for all of the bullying types!).

So, In Summary, Our Advice Is:

  • You need to be parents to your children. That’s more than just providing them with a cellphone, junk food, and a ride to the mall! You need to be a positive role model, a source of nurture and protection. Not a friend, a parent!
  • Have open, honest dialogue with your children about the reality of bullying and that there is a law against it.
  • Encourage your children to bring their concerns to you immediately, not to wait, not to be afraid.
  • Get names of other children who have been bullied (your own children will probably be the best sources for this information, believe it or not). Kids see and hear a lot at the school and that makes them great sources of information. Contact the parents of other children who have been bullied or abused in your district. Get together to form an action committee. There’s power in numbers and the more people you have with similar experiences, the more credible your own case. This will become very important later at hearings or in court!
  • Document all incidents, conversations, contacts, etc. in a written record with dates, times, incendent description, names of those involved, names of those contacted, outcome (always with dates and times!).
  • Confront principals, administrators, superintendent, board of education immediately with your concerns. Don’t wait! They’ll use that against you! And do it in writing(not by e-mail), and what you expect to be done to fix the situation. The best way is a copy of the letter of notice or inquiry to each of the levels (principal, administrators, superintendent, BoE) with the copy to the superintent by certified mail, return receipt requested. Remember: Stick to the facts, admit nothing, don’t get emotional, assume you are always the victim! Don’t let them use anything against you later! Don’t believe any promises! Get it in writing!
  • Follow up on each of your inquiries or complaints by telephone call (note date, time, who spoken to, and substance of the call), and then with a written confirmation of the follow-up and brief details of the conversation. Send a copy to the other party and to the superintendent.
  • If you still don’t get a response. Contact the local police, make a complaint. Send a copy of the complaint to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office referring to the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), send a copy to your Assemblyman and to your state Senator. Do this by regular mail, not by e-mail. You can follow up or confirm by e-mail and attach a scanned copy of the hard copy letter or complaint.
  • Contact the  New York State Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service at 1 (800) 342-3661 lr@nysba.org for a referral to an attorney specializing in lawsuits against school districts, even specializing in cases under the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Under the law you are entitled to an initial free consultation with an attorney. If s/she decides to take the case, get him or her to provide you with a written letter of representation that states the approximate cost of the case in fees etc. and the approximate length of time s/he expects the case to take to resolution. Do not ask for promises that you will win; that’s unreasonable.
  • From that point on, let the attorney do his/her magic, but follow-up regularly, never trust or think that they’re on top of it, they’re probably not and will likely need some high-voltage prodding to get them to move their asses. Stay out of the way but stay informed!
  • Be  active! Be very active! It’s your children at risk, not theirs. Your children will thank you some day…or curse you if you’don’t act now!

Not on my lawn and
DEFINITELY NOT ON MY KIDS!
