We regret any confusion …

We Have Received Some Comments That Indicate To Us That There Is Some Confusion Regarding The Operator Of The RC Teen Activity Center And A Very Popular Teacher At The RCS Middle School.

appreciation

While we have made it very clear that we are not bashing anyone and that we are simply asking important questions relating to the RC Teen Activity Center, some of our readers have risen to the occasion to defend their “Mr Fisher.” I was very curt and blunt with one commenter who seemed to have been confused and vigorously defended her “Mr Fisher.” I now understand her confusion and I’d like to conditionally apologize for the rough treatment s/he received at my hands.

To be clear: Mr Michael Fisher is the operator of the RC Teen Activity Center in Ravena. Mr William Fisher is a teacher at the RCS Middle School. On this blog we are discussing only the RC Teen Activity Center and Mr Michael Fisher not the RCS Middle School and Mr William Fisher.

dropped the ballMr William Fisher is a very popular and loved teacher at the RCS Middle School and we have that on very reliable authority: some of his students and several parents. So, Mr William Fisher we would like to congratulate you on a very special reputation you have obviously earned at the RCS Middle School. While there may have been some confusion in the names, what ultimately came out in all of this is your fine reputation! So we conditionally apologize to you for any anxiety we may have caused to you!

We do want to emphasize, too, that there is no reason whatsoever to believe that Mr Michael Fisher of the RC Teen Activity Center is not attempting to do good for the community. We support all that is good in this community. Our points made on this blog critique only a number of concerns and inconsistencies that we have noted in the leadership and organization of the RC Teen Activity Center. The leadership and organization is not the product of a single person but is the result of many interrelated factors and interactions of a number of people and agencies. We do not want to make the impression that we are singling out Mr Michael Fisher as an individual nor do we want to distract from his basic intentions.

As always, we want to continue our policy of truth and correctness and we intend always to publicize and own up to any misunderstandings we may inadvertently have caused. That policy is what makes us credible and reliable.

We thank you for your trust and confidence, and your loyalty!

Mr Michael Fisher Responds…Sort of…

Mr Michael Fisher of the RC Teen Activity Center Finally Stepped up to the Plate and Responds to … We’re Not Quite Sure What He’s Responding To…

Our Response to Mr Fisher's Comment

Our Response to Mr Fisher’s Comment

We have published Mr Michael Fishers comment in its entirety in the comments section of one of our previous articles on the RC Teen Activity Center. In retrospect, we thought that we really should respond to some of Mr Fisher’s statements, to clarify them, if you prefer, and to offer our understanding of what he’s attempting to say. (Fisher’s original comment is so rambling and emotional it was very difficult to digest at one sitting, so we’ve just reproduced some parts of it (in quotes and maroon) and provided our comments below.)

“Ok enough is enough. I stated to everyone that I will not get involved in politics, although there is this one guy here with this blog who is trying to drag me into the politics.”

Mr Fisher appears to be very naïve or deceptive or both when he makes such a statement. In fact, in a comment published on this blog in response to Mr Fisher’s alter ego RavenaCitizen, you can read exactly what our position is: “Michael Fisher has willingly and voluntarily become a part of local politics and he can’t simply escape that fact by simply saying that he wants to stay out of politics in this district. That’s idiotic, to be very honest. He’s not running a gas station or a hair salon, for Pete’s sake! He’s made a highly charged political statement and has made political statements galore throughout his promotion campaign of the Teen Center. He is injecting himself into a political relationship with the village, the town, the school district, the churches, the social institutions and organizations of the district, and is placing himself in a very tenuous and sensitive position in parent child relationships. How much more political can it possibly get?”

“So I am here to say my peace, and you will not see me on here again. If someone should know of a lace where blogs can be posted by both parties and not be editied for ones own benefit, please email me at michael@rcteencenter.com and we can continue this in public forum elsewhere. The reason I am looking for a place on the web, is because the owner of this blog is editing and posting to his benefit.”

[Editor’s Note: You can do that right here, Mr Fisher. You already have!] Mr Fisher, is either very badly informed, naïve, or plainly malicious to make that statement. Anyone who comments on this blog or on any of the articles published on this blog knows that this is absolutely untrue! Mr Fisher is showing some very uncomplimentary colors when he makes a statement like this.

“I am Michael C. Fisher, I reside at [redacted] Cottage Street, Ravena, NY 12143, in Albany County. I am a volunteer firefighter in Coeymans Fire Department, and yes I work full time as a Leasing Consultant for Oakbrook Manor LLC in Ravena.”

That’s nice! Finally, the writer of the comment identifies him/herself. We do wonder, though, how being a volunteer firefighter and a leasing consultant (What is that anyway? Are written and oral communications skills a requirement?) qualifies Mr Fisher to be a principal in a facility that claims to provide social and academic support and services to adolescents.

“You see, the owner of this blog knows this because the ravenacitizen is someone that I know and has forwarded personally to the owner of this blog copies of my Deed to my home on Cottage Street, a copy of my power bill to my home on Cottage Street and a copy of my firefighter ID. Although no mention was made of that from the blogger…”

We and others have repeatedly told RavenaCitizen that we are not interested in third-party information, nor in receiving questionable redacted documents from a third party that allegedly are in response to our demands for disclosure from Mr Fisher. We do not use that sort of information; it’s clearly hearsay and very iffy. We have repeatedly asked why Mr Fisher needs to go through RavenaCitizen (is Mr Fisher actually RavenaCitizen?) when he could easily have simply answered the questions publicly in any of the forms we had previously suggested. Or he could have left a sensible response on this blog. Strange way to behave in our opinion.

Stupidity, Denial, Coeymanazis and Silly String

בס”ד

Greed, Corruption, Denial, Coeymanazis…Actually, Simplemindedness May Be the Real Key to RCS’s Decline.

Claudia Verga “Sillystringed”
Model of Adult Behavior
A.W. Becker Elementary School Principal

Are You Still Wondering That Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Is a Losers Club as a Community and as a District? Read on…

In my day, the school principal was a person who represented authority, was an important role model for students and even teachers, was a source of socialization. But that was before everyone and anyone could do anything and everything because everyone and anyone is his or her own person. And if it feels good you can do it. Look where that bullshit has gotten us as persons, families, communities, as a nation. Right down the crapper!

Note the Principal’s Defensive Posture!
Note the Aggression in the Children!
A Great Lesson…

So, I wasn’t all that surprised to have learned and read of the local principal who made a mockery of herself and became the incarnation of the stupid adult we have today. Where was that? At RCS A.W. Becker where principal Claudia Verga made herself the object of elementary school pupil’s disrespect and aggression by allowing herself to be publicly… SILLYSTRINGED!

Disgusting!

With Your Children, Your Significant Other, Your Neighbor!

This Article is Different from Most You Will Read On This Blog. It’s Angry and It’s a Morality Lesson, Too!

When’s the Last Time You Looked at Yourself, Deeply?

WHY???

Morality and ethics are things we used to learn at home from grandparents and parents, on the street from public servant role models (police, firemen, etc.), at school, in church. Now we pack our grandparents off to the nursing home, our public servants are thugs, sluts and thieves and our teachers aren’t much better, and who, really, goes to church anymore and who can really say they know anything about their religion or denomination, too? We’re in a very pitiful state as far as our morality and character are concerned, and our ethics is even worse, and our culture toxic.

So the theme of this blog is a quote from a beloved teacher, model, human being, St. Francis of Assisi, who is said to have taught, “If you have people who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have people who will deal likewise with their fellow men.” (Patron Saint of Ecology, 1181-1226) If you think about that statement, it should switch on some lights…somewhere.

It’s very true, though, when you think about it. If you tend to treat things, animate or inanimate, sensate or insensate, traditions or customs, without respect, love, compassion, sensitivity you’re very likely to treat other people and other living things the same way. And you know what? Generally, that disrespect and lack of compassion is just how you feel about yourself, we are told. Low self-esteem, low self-respect is usually reflected outward onto others, the world, people, creatures of all types.

This weekend, I visited the Iroquois festival at the Iroquois Museum in Cobleskill. There I enoyed demonstrations of Native American survival techniques, examined artifacts, viewed artworks, and learned a lot about the culture of the Iroquois Confederacy a “republic” of six nations.  The Iroquois call themselves the “Haudenosaunee“, which means “People of the Longhouse,” or more accurately, “They Are Building a Long House.” They were politically sophisticated and tolerant, had a highly developed culture and religious system. They were matriarchal, a woman was head of the clan and picked the chief, and they were matrilineal, you took your mothers clan name and belonged to her clan.

What’s a North American native culture to do with a 13th century Italian saint? Well, they both stressed oneness with nature and creation, respect of others, the necessity of a positive compassionate relationship with all of creation for survival. Something we have lost touch with today and are so much the poorer as human beings and as members of creation.

After that elevating exhilarating experience, I found myself traveling down Rt 9W, just a mile or so before the entrance to the NYS Thruway when I saw something that was simultaneously horrific, saddening, ugly, and overall upsetting. In fact, it pissed me off really badly; it made me very regretful of humanity with its many flaws! It was the very image of what human beings have become today, and I decided I would share the sight and my thoughts with you on this blog.

Was this YOU, or someone you know?
It’s plain SICKO!

There they were, three beautiful animals, less than perhaps 50-100 feet from each other, along the roadside, DEAD! Not killed weeks or even days apart but merely hours, judging by the condition of the corpses. (The picture shows only one; the other two are just down the road where the cars are.) Now I’ve seen death in so many ways in my career and just wandering the world but sometimes the way it happens to be presented just hits you in a certain way. This was a revelation, a shocking revelation of what human beings have become: Humanity has become a cosmic-plague, a malignancy injuring, maiming and killing creation. But we’re worse than a mindless virus, because we claim to have a spark of divinity, freedom of will, intelligence, gifts that should make us a force for good, not a dark cloud of evil. These creatures, all of them young and healthy before being killed, were killed by humans in their machines and apparently by humans who had not a whit of concern or sense of responsibility for their actions nor any sense of compassion or responsibility. Like so many of you out there.

Yes, you are a restless bunch. Can’t stand still for long, have to move, gotta rush to get nowhere, gotta have that new toy but can’t reason Why? The commercials tell us to rush, we need IT now! And you respond by rushing and buying it. How’s that make you feel? A bit depersonalized, taken advantage of? Less than the person you’d like to be. Does it make you feel angry to be abused by businesses, industry, government, others? Are you angry? Are you taking it out on the world. I’d guess yes, from where I’m observing. And it’s happened to you so insidiously, that you haven’t even noticed, have you?

Now take a step back and look at yourself. Now look at your children, if you’ve taken the time to produce any, or ever had the notion of sharing your life with anyone but your iPhone and your Twitter or FaceBook cyberfriends. Are you constantly checking whether someone wants to message you, needs you to exist? Have you tried leaving the cellphone or the iPhone home and taking a walk…alone? What do you see? Do you like it? (Probably not.)

You hide the elderly and deny the naturalness of aging, you hasten the dying process in the ill but deny death, enjoy wanton and unprotected lust and then spread disease or kill the unborn and then preach chastity (for a frank discussion of abortion and the culture of death see my article: OPINION: Abortion Issues), you hurry to get nowhere special and when you get there you can’t wait to get to the next stop, you do most of what you do not knowing (or caring) why we’re doing it and just do it to get it off the list, you rush through every minute of the day without appreciating it or being in the moment even once and then whine that the day’s gone by already (whose fault is that?), you complicate your life with concrete things and lose the connection with the mysteries of life and can’t even visualize much less think in terms of concepts or the abstract. You eat three times more than you should, weigh at least 25% more than you should, but then complain that portions are small and that you’re overweight and unhappy with your body image. And you’re angry, fuming. Anger is ugly and does ugly things! Worse still, you deny you’re angry!

One of the ugly things your anger causes you to do is harm the helpless and the innocent, including the weak, the poor, the elderly, the young, and you do it verbally, physically, socially, psychologicaly, because it makes you feel powerful, empowered. But you’re just a common bully. And that’s where my concern for the morality of these developments comes into the discussion. The more you do a behaviour, the more it becomes habit, the more habitual it becomes, the more it becomes your character; your inner voice, your conscience, is a product of all of that. Your good-bad, right-wrong decisions are your morality, and what you do, how you live is your ethics. You are how you live. Are you afraid yet? You should be.

Our entire culture has become toxic.

Back to the Iroquois and the once great Native Americans. Look at what the European-now-American culture has done to them and how we’ve accomplished it: Invasion, cheating and dishonesty, eradication by the use of superior weapons and technology, importation of disease, import of an alien culture that is incompatible with centuries of tradition, disrespect for the native culture, forcing alien forms of government on the people, robbing them of their culture, their ethnic pride, their values, and then abandoning them to decline, disease, social degradation, and ultimately disappearance. In other words, we strip them of their dignity just as we strip all of creation of its dignity. And we do this for the worst of reasons and for short-term satisfaction and gain, imposing permanent damage and destruction, and move on to the next victims. Just like locusts devouring one field after another; simply destruction to feed our own perverse drives. Nothing’s changed over the past 300 years; we’re still doing it in other parts of the world. Admit itl, fix it, stop denying it!

BEFORE

Look at that face! You buy stuffed toys for your children because it’s so, well, cute, actually beatiful. Then you load your bloated or emaciated body into your gas-guzzler and run down two or three of the real things! What does that tell you about you? The three dead young raccoons were symbolic of what you’ve become: insensitive, self-serving, unrepentent, uncaring, black holes sucking up everything, destroying it and giving nothing in return. It’s sad, isn’t it?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What really makes me kind of giddy in a sense is that most of you have no connection with anything really, you’ve created a world of dualities for yourself: you and everyone else, America and the rest of the world, the 1% and the 99%, the good people and the Jews and Muslims, the church-going Christian in church and the church-going Christian out of church. That’s just to name a few of the dualities you’ve set up to make yourself acceptable. You’re so one-dimensional you need to create dimensions outside of yourself. And still you pray, you attend worship, you read the bible, etc. and you learn nothing, your life is still…emptyness. You’ve become what you say you hate: hypocrites. Too bad!

People, there’s got to be an Aha! moment somewhere in all of this. That moment where you have that certain revelation, that conversion moment where you say to yourself, “What the f**k am I doing? Where the f**k am I? Where the f**k am I going?” Are you getting closer to climaxing in this orgiastic frenzy of, for lack of a better expression, sin against nature?

Take a moment and look in the mirror. What do you see? Now, peel away that surface and what’s under there? Can you really live with that? Do you want to continue living with that zombie under your skin?

The World Is Your Mirror.

Yes! The world is your mirror. It’s what you’ve become and what reflects back on you. You are individually and collectively responsible. We used to talk about duties and obligations but nobody liked that; those words sounded like someone else was pulling the strings and you were all simply being told by big brother what to do (it’s still happening but you’ve convinced yourself it’s not–still living the lie): Do this! Don’t do that! You must…! Now we talk about responsibility and following your conscience…what conscience? How responsible are you for what’s going on around you? If you feel you’re responsible have you done anything to correct the wrongs and the evil around you? Or are you irresponsible?

A Letter to the RCS Board of Education

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog NOW!

We Have Received A Letter From A Resident Reflecting Some Thoughts On the Board’s Actions.
We thought you’d like to see it.

Mr Lukens:

You brought up a very good point at the July 24th BoE meeting when you asked for numbers of players, ancillary staff, coaches, etc. That information is needed to really evaluate the requirements and to eliminate the nepotism, graft, waste, etc. that is rampant in this school district and to get a handle on better managing the almost autonomous athletic activities in the RCS CSD.

I would recommend also that you obtain the same figures from surrounding school districts such as Bethlehem, Coxsackie, even from Catskill, etc.

The regional BOCES must have some figures and if they do not, they should! A lot of taxpayer money goes into sports and athletics as well as the additional moneys paid out by parents for extra activities not covered by school budget resources. That’s yet another reason why tighter controls must be enforced on the RCS Sports or Athletic Associations, and why they must be called to task to report to the BoE as the representative of the taxpayers and parents. No excuses. Transparency!

The new BoE is making a great impression. It’s finally putting its foot down and not accepting the status quo. Obviously, it’s pissing a lot of people off–mostly those who have something to hide–and you can expect that they’re doing their dirty work behind the scenes but we can only hope that the good people of this RCS district and of this RCS community can see the good that is going to come from tighter controls, and forcing the crooks to fess up, while ensuring that anyone operating any activity in the schools, on school property, involving students, or even giving the impression that they are operating for or on behalf of the RCS schools must be held accountable and must provide proper credentials.

In addition, I would further recommend that the BoE pass a resolution requiring any and all persons involved in activities in the schools, on school grounds and properties, having contact with students, or supervising activities be required to participate in recognized training programs that focus on recognizing, reporting, and preventing abuse, whether sexual or bullying, and that any such training be made a part of the official record.

Once again, thank you and your non-teachers-clique colleagues for having the guts, the courage to stand up to the weasels on the board of education and in the community, and to do what’s right, what’s in the public’s interest, what’s in the long-term best interests of the children in the care, custody, and under the supervision of the schools.

Please share this message with your fellow board members.

Of Penises and Post-Its
OR
How Long is the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk Community, or Any Community With Any Self-Respect, Going to Put Up with the Turdy Times Union (a.k.a. Times Useless) and Its Pulp-Fiction Journalists?

Scott Waldman & Dayelin Roman
Times Union Turd Journalists

The Only Use the Times Useless and it’s Turdy Journalists Have for Ravena, Coeymans, or Selkirk Is to Dig Up Some Sleeze or Smear, Or Create One to Sell Their Rag! People! Wake Up! The Times Union and Its Turd Journalists Show Up In This Community Only To Make Asses of It and Its Residents! All The Times Useless Prints About Us is NEGATIVE! Or Weeks Old! They’re too stupid to do any real investigative journalism to cover the reall news! Or are they silent for other more sinister reasons?

Scott Waldman and Dayelin Roman or any of the other illiterates they send out know nothing about the community, nothing about its history, nothing about its people and saunter in whenever they need someone or something to smear or slime, do their damage and run back to their pig pens. They smeared some local person or event, they sold their rag, they collect their 30 pieces of silver. That’s American journalism? Well, it is in the Albany and Capital District region. If they’re such hot shot journalists what the hell are they doing of all places at the Times Union, in Albany, and stuck with covering not news but what they fondly refer to as the “hill towns“…I guess that makes us all the hill people, then. Sounds like a title for a cheap horror flick. Don’t know if I can deal with that label! Can you? How about Pursuit of the Post-It People or Penal Penalty of the Penis Painter? Nah! Don’t do much for me either. Let’s get back to the real business before it gets really silly.

Beat it! Times Union! (Waldman’s probably beating it as we write!)

In better days when people like that showed up in our towns they’d be sent packing…or our local constable would make their lives uncomfortable. As it is, locals welcome them and their smear as if they were covering the prom queen’s first dance with her prince. No! Too positive. Are you people nutz? Do you like being made asses of? Do you hate yourselves that much? And our local protectors, our Coeymans Police are too busy harassing and intimidating local residents to give a whit about the carpetbaggers as they roll in. Maggots!

The report on the senior’s prank distracted me from Part II of the Geneology of Corruption, Residents Complain. But when I read the benign events at the high school when compared to some of the other high schools, I breathed a sigh of relief until…

I read RCS Superintendant of schools remark (as quoted by the Times Useless’ Scott Waldman, who we all know has a little trouble with facts, truth, and correct quotes):

“In an email, Superintendent Elisabeth Smith referred to the Post-It note prank as vandalism. She said the spray-painting was “most likely” a separate incident than what happened inside the school and student access to the building being investigated. She said police are looking into the spray-paint vandalism.

“As adults in this learning community, we are not willing to sacrifice the health and safety of ourselves or our students, we are not willing to sacrifice the integrity of our school building, and we will not tolerate the loss of valuable planning or instructional time,” she wrote. “These acts and any similar acts will be dealt with in accordance with our disciplinary code of conduct, and with the assistance of local law enforcement.” (“RCS seniors suspended over Post-It prank. School administrators identify 29 students by watching YouTube video,”  Times Union by Scott Waldman, Friday, June 8, 2012.)

Vandalism?” Any other place would call it art! Where are you MOMA?

Get a grip, Ms Smith! Senior pranking as benign as this should suffice with a simple single-day suspension and the commitment of the seniors to remove the penis paint! Law enforcement!?! Are you totally nutz? Who? The Coeymans Police. Don’t make me pee myself laughing! Maybe the FBI or the State Police? Yeah! That’ll be a priority case for them. Right after they arrest the entire Coeymans Police department! My guess is that it probably was a Coeymans cop, or one of your perv teachers or coaches that did the porno artwork!

I don’t doubt for a minute that you need law enforcement to control your rabid teachers and coaches, and your bullying problem, Ms Smith, or to control the lunatics on the RCS board of education in their backstabbing and conspiracy operations, but against the seniors for a prank? You really need to get some rest and reassess your policies!

If you feel like getting heavy-handed with your disciplinary and code of conduct policies, and involving law enforcement, try doing so in handling the budget vote irregularities and fraud, your looney-toon teachers and your bullies, getting the Coeymanazis off the PTO and off the board of education*! Try those for starters and application of code of conduct policies.

*There’s little hope of enforcing policies against teachers or teachers on the BoE because the Superintendant is a former teacher and principal at the elementary school; she’s in the thick of the cliques! But give her a chance and some time. Let her prove us wrong.

Goes to the Times Union

And is Shared by Collaborators
Turd Reporters Scott Waldman, Dayelin Roman, and
Superintendant of Schools Elizabeth Smith!

And let them attend their senior picnic! That’s an event that marks an important transition for them. No one has a right to deprive them of their moments…they’re entering a horrible world and need some fond memories to look back on. It ain’t been no picnic growing up in this community!

Boycott the Times Union, Cancel Your Subscription, Tell the Times Union What You Think of Their Coverage and Performance in a Letter or E-mail! Josephine O’Connor: A Role Model of Maturity and Mental Stability…NOT!

Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog now.

This Post Published By So-called School “Teacher” Josephine O’Connor Is A Testimony To The Addled And Confused State Of Some Of The RCS CSD Teachers To Whom School Children Are Exposed On A Daily Basis.

THIS is FAT, Josephine! So Shut Up, Already!

This so-called “teacher’s” idea of a “teachable moment” is protesting her lack of self-esteem, her “weight problem” and “yelling the insult up and down” a “hot hallway full of people waiting for election results.” This is a real RCS role model at work!

If this is representative of the mental coherence and level of self-esteem of even one teacher in the cohort at RCS it is pitiful This post is being published only because Ms O’Connor actually invited it’s publication! [Editor’s Note: We avoided fixing any of the grammar or editing any of the content so that the reader can appreciate the contradictions, the confusion, the perverse irrationality of the post. We’d also ask you to note below those who are responding and to compare the names on the list of Pieter B. Coeymanazis on the PTO who feel that bullying children and local businesses are also “teaching moments.”]

Before you read O’Connor’s post and our comments, we would like to inform you that we have received information that Ms O’Connor is not entirely truthful in her posting; she is not a teacher in the RCS CSD or anywhere else (In her posting she states “Since I am a teacher…Where do you teach, Josephine?!?!)! In fact, she is not a teacher but the RCS BoE board member who arrived late (“Not in attendance at the start of the meeting… O’Connor, it turned out, would later make the meeting and turn the tide on a crucial vote….Just before nine p.m., board member Josephine O’Connor arrived and apologized for not being in attendance for the bulk of the meeting due to other obligations and asked that the board go into executive session so she could be brought up to speed on what had occurred.” See this link Daily Mail, April 26, 2012. O’Connor had the unenviable reputation for being absent or late for BoE meetings.) with some display to break the tie vote on the most recent exhorbitant RCS CSD 2012-13 school budget; furthermore, Ms O’Connor, as a sitting board member voted to give her husband, a teacher in the RCS district, tenure–an act that is somewhat questionable, ethically speaking, since her vote to give her husband tenure was tainted by personal gain and vested, conflicted  interest; ethically, she should have abstained from that vote O’Connor didn’t run in May 2012; apparently she was satisfied with the damage she had already done, and she got her husband tenure so why stay?

Now let’s move on to Ms O’Connor’s posting…we comment in green:

“I am so proud of everyone that worked so hard on the budget. You made a huge difference in people’s lives. [Editor’s Note: Yeah! Can’t wait to see the difference it makes!]

“On another note…

“I want to talk about what was said to me tonight while waiting for the results. A fellow board member asked me why I hadn’t called him back on the telephone. Frankly, after being verbally abused and berated at a board meeting, I don’t feel comfortable calling him. I only want to talk to him with others present because of how I have been treated in the past month. [Editor’s Note: Do you have the date of that BoE meeting? We’d like to review it in order to confirm your statements. You’ve lied already once in this posting.]

“So I replied that I wouldn’t be calling him, that emailing would suffice. [Editor’s Note: Now that’s mature; and real leadership behavior. It’s called avoidance and is a type of denial behavior; very common in the RCS district. Probably why nothing constructive gets done.]
He looked at me and said “it looks like you’ve put on some weight” and turned away.  [Editor’s Note: Any witnesses to the actual statement? That would lend some credibility to this report.] Now, if you think I’m posting this because the specific insult bothered me, you’d be wrong. [Editor’s Note: Really? Well that’s not what we get from the rest of your rant below.] Instead of being reduced to tears or standing shamefully [Editor’s Note: We hope you don’t teach English!]  in the corner, which is what I gather he expected me to do, I did something that I have never done before. [Editor’s Note: As an adult, we would hope not but you do something even more childish, immature, and absolutely SILLY!]

“In that hot hallway full of people waiting for election results, I raised my voice and said “hey everyone: Member of the Board X just said I look like I put on weight, anyone else want to chime in?” I yelled the insult up and down the hallway. I invited anyone who wanted to agree with his judgement of me to jump right in. Simply calling the insult on the carpet gave me a sense of liberation that was amazing. I did it because what was said to me shows what a kind of person that HE is, not me. [Editor’s Note: No, Ms O’Connor, you just made a DumbAss out of yourself, an histrionic spectacle, which is why this post was sent to us: You made yourself laughable with your clownlike display!]

“Since I’m a teacher, I just had to write this; it’s a teachable moment. [Editor’s Note: OMIGOD! She claims to be  an RCS teacher doing this! Am I really surprised? And this is what RCS calls a “teachable moment.” Puhleez! More like a lunatic moment!]

“To even think that I would be embarrassed by being called fat in 2012 is the joke here. [Editor’s Note: But you obviously did, on fair assessment of what you’re writing in this post!] I thought: “that’s all ya got?” My weight? I would laugh if it weren’t such a tragic commentary on the nature of misogyny, which is alive and well I might add. [Editor’s Note: But what about your own self-esteem problem? Even if there were “mysogyny,” wouldn’t a competent, mature adult, a teacher no less, come up with a better public statement than “yell[ing] the insult up and down the hallway”? Most of us would agree that there are more adult ways of expressing one’s self.]

“That’s right, a fellow board member couldn’t think of anything intelligent to say so he insulted my physical appearance. That’s all he had to try and hurt me with. [Editor’s Note: We don’t know you but are you overweight? Is that your own body image? It seems you have an unhealthy fixation on your physical appearance as representing your self or your essence to the detriment of any other qualities. is that so? Sounds like a really big problem, Josephine. How will you manage in a high school with all those slim divas around you?]

“To all of the little girls, young women, middle-aged women, old women who have been verbally pummeled and made to feel less-than for any reason: try yelling the insults from the rooftops. [Editor’s Note: No. Please don’t try that. It’s likely to get you arrested and comitted for psychiatric observation. Have more dignity and you’ll be taken more seriously. And Ms Josephine O’Connor, please don’t teach that sort of behavior to students, they have enough problems finding positive role models as it is!] Because those words have nothing to do with you and everything to do with the awful, twisted, weak-minded and hateful person spewing them. [Editor’s Note: Well, Josephine, that’s not the message you shared in this post! You seem to have thought it had a lot to do with YOU, and the fact you’re sharing it seems to reinforce that observation.] I hope that you find sense of exhilaration that comes from knowing that only your own opinion of yourself counts.” [Editor’s Note: That’s exactly the problem with society today: teachers encourage students not to live, work, and associate as members of community but to isolate themselves as being self-important. The very basics of ethics is missing in that statement! Josephine O’Connor, you are an endangerment to the youth of this community! You obviously never took an ethics course!]

Ms O’Connor concludes her post with the words, “Feel free to pass this along.” We have done that. Thank you, Josephine!

Of course, the usual Coeymanazis chimed in with their usual bovine mooing of chagrin and disgust: Cathy [Long] DeLuca (of all people! and with her history!), Sarah Berchtold Engel, and a couple of others commented, though not on the substance of the post from what we could read. But if you know any of the main commenters named above, you’d wonder why they would want to direct attention to themselves! Especially when weight is the subject!

This is no joke; Josephine O’Connor is a not a real-life teacher (she lied in her posting), but she really did post the message on FaceBook, on an account called “Save the Arts at RCS.”
