It Shouldn’t Be a One-Man Show…Where are the Rest of You?

One single resident of Ravena steps out and creates a place for the kids

A One-Man-Show Won't Work

A One-Man-Show Won’t Work

To Get the Best Out of It We Have to Team Up

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.

Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

In the meantime one single Ravena resident takes his savings and his time, gets a second job to do something for the kids. Something the kids really need: a place to go other than the street! And they get rides home after the club closes…in his care, not in a Coeymans police vehicle. While the village of Ravena is shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars for a handful of special friends, and the town of Coeymans is busy looking the other way while leaving youth services to the Coeymans Police Department, one single resident of Ravena steps out and creates a place for the kids: the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activities Center (RCYTAC).

Parents and residents of Ravena-Coeymans: When’s the last time you visited the RCYTAC? I visited just the other day and I was floored to see how nice it is. I was floored to see a lot of teens who I know personally enjoying the place. Those kids actually stopped, greeted me and were happy to see me there. They actually looked, well, happy! The disk jockey’s a teen, the food service staff are teens, the teens learning how to take charge and socialize. As I was visiting, kids were strolling in but none were coming out so I assumed that they were involved in one of the many available activities…all of them monitored and supervised, mind you!

While I was standing outside with Mr Michael Fisher, creater of the RCYTAC, I was amazed when a parent came up and asked if she could donate the refreshments from her son’s grad party, because he decided that he didn’t want a party and that the RCYTAC should have it. The parent also made a fairly generous cash contribution for the kids. That same parent, a psychologist and author of children’s books, is planning to do poetry and literature workshops at the RCYTAC! Question: What are YOU doing?

I have one single question, parents, residents: Where the hell are the rest of you????

Why is it you’d risk leaving your kids unsupervised, in their rooms, on Facebook, being evil? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize in a healthy environment?

Why is it you’d risk your teen’s wandering around dark streets and parks at risk of life and limb? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize safely?

Why is it you don’t enjoy some personal time to recuperate without the unnecessary stress of either knowing where your kids are or, worse still, not knowing?!? Why wouldn’t you give them a ride to the RCYTAC where they can socialize in a healthy environment?

Why is it you’d risk having the Coeymans Police, the Albany County Sheriff, or the State Police bringing your kid home or bringing your the news of his or her arrest, bail, court appearances—or worse, news of a tragedy— when you could have supported the RCYTAC with some time and a couple of bucks donation?

Tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars are being spent on worthless projects like a village fitness center

Why is it you sit back oblivious to the fact that tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars are being spent on worthless projects like a village fitness center that is exclusive and unwelcoming to many in the community, while youth programs and services are ignored? Why aren’t you demanding that some of that money be donated no strings attached to the RCYTAC?!? No strings attached! We don’t want it to become a Coeymanazi brainwashing camp, do we? Why aren’t you parents and residents appearing at village and town board meetings screaming bloody murder that nothing is being done for youth…well almost nothing, the Coeymans police seem to like arresting them. Don’t you realize that if the kids are off the streets and not looking for something to do, they’ll likely stay out of mischief?prison kid

Ravena Coeymans Selkirk teens and youth are tomorrow’s consumers and voters; If you mobilze NOW and get your parents to support your projects, you can move on local government and get those geezers to support your RCYTAC. BE YOUR OWN RCS CHAMPIONS!!!

Teen Work is Team Work

Teen Work is Team Work

success

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk teens: Why would you stick with street friends who will only get you into a mess of trouble? Why don’t you get smart and mobilize for your own good? Michael Fisher is handing you the opportunity to do something really good, important, responsible, independent for you and your generation at the Teen Center. Mr Fischer is handing you the opportunity to show that you can become a part of something great, you can be your own leaders, you can create a community you can be proud of, and you can empower yourselves and your friends to get the attention of local residents and government to take an interest in your welfare, in your RCYTAC, to support Mr Michael Fisher’s vision for RC youth. Ravena Coeymans Selkirk teens and youth are tomorrow’s consumers and voters; If you mobilze NOW and get your parents to support your projects, you can move on local government and get those geezers to support your RCYTAC. Be fair! Don’t make Mr Fisher do it all on his dime…he just can’t do it without your help and support.

Really Bad Move!

Really Bad Move!

As scary as the girls’ Facebook exchanges were, some good points were made such as: Being bad is not cool because it will come back to bite you in future, when you’ll really need to prove who and what you are. Beating someone up is not cool, it’s criminal, and it’s not going to get you a job or an education; it’s going to get you a reputation and a bad one at that and one that’s likely to follow you wherever you go. But if you are a leader now and to take the initiative to work for community, that’s going to serve you well for the rest of your lives. Be smart…be leadership…be champions!

Why is it you are sitting there thinking that your kids are getting the most out of the school district budget? Are you in denial or just plain stupid? Have you examined the school budget to see just how much of it is “for the kids”? You might want to do that one day. And don’t be misled by the dumbing down of the curriculum or the fancy-sounding names they give to programs that are there just to enrich the staff with extra pay. Ask yourself why an athletics coach or a teacher is being paid 4-6 times the per capita income of RC residents or 2-3x the average household income of a RC household? Then ask yourself why you haven’t made a substantial donation to the RCYTAC for the valuable service of keeping your kids safe (the school system doesn’t seem to be able to do that), saving you bail money, and even possibly saving you funeral expenses. Blunt, but real.

Empowered Youth

Empowered Youth

We support what is good for this community and most especially what is good for our greatest hope and asset: our teens and youth. We adults who have the good sense and vision realize that some day we are going to have to depend on today’s youth when they are making the decisions and running things. And the kind of people I want to see running things for me when I need them are the kind of teens and youth I saw at the Ravena-Coeymans Youth and Teen Activity Center.

Cart before the Horse: RCS Sports Association Operating a Shell Game [Again]?

“Qui tacet consentire videtur ubi loqui debuit ac potuit.”
“Silence is admission when when the accused ought to have spoken and was able to.”

Special Notice: We make every effort to be truthful, complete, fair, and balanced on this blog; therefore, if you see anything that you know to be false or incorrect, or if you have additional information to clarify any issue, please let us know by e-mailing your information or by leaving a comment. WTH! Is the RCS Sports Association Operating Illegally Again?

RCS Sports Association Has it Ass-End-Backwards AGAIN

RCS Sports Association
Has it Ass-End-Backwards
AGAIN

The RCS Sports Association is selling Raffle tickets for something they don’t have: permission to build a new concession stand. Have they done all the preparation necessary to get permission for the stand? Or are they operating illegally again. Is it time to get their non-profit status taken away permanently?

fraudOperating a concession on RCS CSD property, public property, is open to anyone or any organization that satisfies the RCS CSD standard policy for operating a stand or booth on the property. It does not grant monopoly status. Furthermore, the last time we heard, to operate a concession on the school property you had to go through the formal proposal process, provide up-to-date documentation of your organization, your officers, your financial status, your tax status, detailed operation plans, insurance coverage, etc. Our investigations show, at least up to the time of this posting, that none of the above has been done by the District or by the RCS Sports Association. Why not?!?

Based on past RCS Sports Association practices, we’d also like to ask whom the RCS Sports Association is backing in the upcoming elections and whether they are using Association funds to underwrite any campaign. If anyone has that information, we’d appreciate it if you’d let us know.

The RCS Sports Association Raffle TicketLegal or Fraud?

The RCS Sports Association Raffle Ticket
Legal or Fraud?

We have purchased a RCS Sports Association raffle ticket for $20. The tickets are allegedly being sold to raise funds for a new concession stand. Now that we have a ticket in our possession, we need to ask several questions:

Our investigations have shown that apparently

  • there has been no public bidding for the 2013-2014 year for any concessions for the RCS school district;
  • the RCS Sports Association does not yet have authorization or approval to construct a new concession stand on RCS school property;
  • the RCS Sports Association has not yet presented a plan to the RCS board of education informing the board of such a plan or the plan has not been publicized for public comment;
  • there has been no public information put out that the RCS Sports Association is authorized to sell raffle tickets impliedly representing or that they have approval and authority to construct a new concession stand, and representing the implied endorsement of the RCS CSD (“implied endorsement” is giving the impression that you have endorsement but really don’t);
  • the RCS Sports Association has apparently not submitted to the RCS CSD or to the RCS board of education architectural or business plans, estimates, etc. for such a project.
  • The RCS Sports Association, although it has no official connection with the RCS CSD and is not endorsed by the RCS CSD, further misrepresents its implied connection and endorsement by misusing the RCS mascot logo on the ticket. Who gave them permission to use the RCS sports teams logo on their association material?
RCS Indians Mascot
RCS Indians Mascot
Being Misused?
  • And the list goes on!

Isn’t the District procedure to request proposals for such a project or for concession operators? Or has that procedure been waived (= forgotten) for special cases?

Has the RCS Sports Association filed all the necessary paperwork to operate on RCS CSD property, public property? As public property, there is no such thing as favoritism and anyone who can satisfy the requirements, the same requirements applied to the RCS Sports Association, can operate a concession on the school property. Right? So maybe we all should go out and sell raffle tickets for our hotdog stand, or our pizza cart, or our nachos booth! Sounds like a plan if we all operate like the RCS Sports association!

The Only Way RCS Knows

The Only Way RCS Knows

Putting the Cart before the Horse: It looks like the RCS Sports Association, an organization that has no  official relationship with the RCS Central School District and is not an RCS CSD department, is up to its old tricks again. Has the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District again lost control of the arrogant maverick calling itself the RCS Sports Association? Is the RCS district being set up by the RCS Sports Association for another embarassment, another scandal?

We are asking the RCS CSD why this situation exists and is allowed to go on. Haven’t we learned anything in the past about how the RCS Sports Association operates? Has the RCS CSD again lost control of this gang who are not officially associated with the school district yet act like they’re running things?

One of our readers asked about the rules attached to the ticket, so we’re reproducing them here and commenting on them below:

Rules

(1) Winning numbers are determined by the three “3” numbers of the NEW YORK State Evening Pick – 3 Lottery as matched to the number appearing in the box located on each calendar. Each calendar acquired will have a unique 3 – digit number. (2) All cash winnings will be determined by the amount of money indicated on each day of the calendar. (3) All numbers are played straight as drawn. (4) All winners will be paid in a timely fashion. (5) The State of NEW YORK may have bonus days. On those days, the first three “3” digit numbers corresponding to the “Evening Pick – 3 Number” drawn will be honored. (6) The organization will determine each winner from the numbered information sheet completed with the acquisition of each calendar. (7) Each information sheet must be filled out accurately at the time of donation and winnings will be administered by an authorized representative of this organization. This fundraising project is in no way related with the lottery of any state and nothing has been bought or sold. Donations are made and random prizes are selected using an impartial random number generator. For further information about this fundraiser, please contact Jena Misuraca at 518 – 522 – 4776 or rrornrrajena@gmail.com Sports Information Media         http://www.sportsinfomedia.com

The RCS Sports Association Raffle Ticket is a Mass of Contradictions:

The ticket (see the illustration above) clearly says that the person is making a “$20 donation.” It does not “suggest” a $20.00 donation but states that the donation is $20.00. In other words, if you don’t “donate” $20.00 you can’t participate. This means that the “price” of the ticket is $20 and you are paying for or purchasing a ticket which allows you to participate.  Unless the RCS Sports Association is not making the “donation” optional or accepting any amount for the ticket, the “price” of the ticket is $20.00. In other words, the RCS Sports Association is selling you a ticket allowing you to participate and you are purchasing that right to participate for $20. This logically contradicts Rule No. (7) which reads in pertinent part: “nothing has been bought or sold.” So, having bought a $20 ticket, shouldn’t the RCS Sports Association be collecting sales tax?

Rule (1) seems to be stating that the winning number will be the number drawn by the NYS Evening Pick – 3 drawing. That means that at least 999 tickets have to be sold by the RCS Sports Association to cover the possible numbers drawn on any evening. What it does not say is that if 999 tickets are not sold –  – say only 150 tickets are sold at $20 each to cover the promised “more than $3000” possible in prizes, at least 849 numbers will not match and will have no winners. The odds are very, very slim for your $20 investment. Each calendar has only one unique three – digit number so the odds are still pretty slim. In order to cover all possible numbers between 000 and 999, at least 999 tickets have to be sold.

According to Rule (2), it looks like the RCS Sports Association has budgeted a total of about a maximum of $375 in possible payouts each week. What if they don’t make the sales to cover 8 weeks of possibly $375 obligations per week or more than $3000 in possible payouts? Are they promising more than they can offer? Or is Jena Misuraca going to cover any shortfalls?

Rule 3 is pretty straightforward— we think but we can’t know for certain—, if the numbers 1, 2, and 3 are drawn on a particular day, the holder of unique 3 – digit number 123 is apparently the winner on that day; in other words 321 or 132 etc. will not be paid. What is implied is that there is only one possible winner on each day but then that would not cover the full possible range of 899 possible 3 – digit numbers that could be drawn; if it did, the possible winnings would exceed the total of at least $3000. So the deck is stacked against the buyer of a ticket. To cover the $3000 possible total winnings at least 150 tickets have to be sold at $20 each just to break even. But the deck is stacked because there are 61 days on which only 1 purchaser can win each day. This means that out of the 999 possible numbers drawn, there can be only 61 winners (June has 30 days and July has 31 days  =  61 days x 1 number and 1 drawing per evening). So theoretically, if the barest minimum number tickets (150) are sold to cover the $3000, only 61 persons can win out of 150 total tickets sold and that’s out of a possible total number of 999 possible numbers that can be drawn every evening! The odds are not good, they’re infinitessimally bad!

And the statement “61 Chances to Win” is not only misleading but mathematically inaccurate!

We loved Rule (4): “All winners will be paid in a timely fashion.” But what exactly does it mean? Paid immediately. In a week? In a month? In a year? “Timely fashion” is a bit vague and ambiguous.

Rule (6) mentions that “The organization will determine each winner from the numbered information sheet completed with the acquisition of each calendar.” Wait a minute. Didn’t we just read that winners are determined by the NYS Lottery Evening Pick-3? What’s the deal now? I don’t recall having provided any information nor having received any information sheet. Normally the numbers on the ticket would be secret until the purchaser scratches the film off. It seems that if there is a “numbered information sheet,” the numbers are not secret. There’s a problem with this, since the winning numbers are not being drawn locally but relying on the New York State Lottery Evening Pick – 3, the sellers of the tickets don’t need to know who has what number.

The rules also state that the “winnings will be administered by an authorized representative of this organization.” (Rule 7). I’m not sure how to understand this statement that “winnings will be administered by an authorized representative” of the RCS Sports Association. If anyone has any clue what this means, please help us. Rule 7 goes on to say that “Donations are made and random prizes are selected using an impartial random number generator.” This cannot be correct. First of all, whether the “donation” is really a donation is questionable. And the donation I made was certainly not made by “an impartial random number generator,” it was made by me, an impartial blog owner! And the prizes are not randomly selected, they are specifically set for each day of each week of the months of June and July, very regularly: Sun. $75, Mon. $40, Tue $40, Wed $40, Thu $40 Fri $40 and Sat $100 ($375 per week). There’s nothing random about the prizes, which are not really prizes, but awards. The RCS Sports Association is talking Double-Dutch, double-talk where I come from!

Another disturbing point is that nowhere on the ticket is the RCS Sports Association clearly identified as being the operator of the so – called “raffle”. Furthermore, nowhere on the ticket is any statement made to the effect that the proceeds from the raffle will be used for the purpose of building a concession stand, much less exclusively for that purpose.

The ticket does not properly notify the purchaser that the RCS Sports Association is allegedly operating as a non – profit organization—Is it a non-profit?—and it does not give the organization’s registration number.

The ticket does not properly notify the purchaser that the claims made on the ticket are indemnified by any kind of insurance, should the RCS Sports Association be unable to make good on its claims.

The ticket lists Jena Misuraca as a contact person and shows some obscure entity called Sports Information Media wwwsportsinformedia.com without any specific or clear statement what Sports Information Media has to do with the so – called raffle. Going to that website we find:

“Sports Information Media provides customized professional-looking printed sports products and is the industry leader in high quality carbonless, multi-part lineup cards and roster cards for any sport. If you don’t see what you want, give us a call and we can make it for you.”

So what exactly has this Sports Information Media company or whatever it is have to do with the alleged concession stand or with the RCS Sports Association. That’s yet another question that needs to be answered.

There are too many contradictions, too many loose ends to satisfy even the most gullible resident in the RCS school district.

Our advice to the RCS Central School District is: Keep you distance from this one and stand by your established policies for proper credentialing of any applicant, complete applications, deliberation, voting  by the board, and public bidding!

Anyone selling raffle tickets in good faith should have the prize or the objective legally in their hands. The RCS Sports Association does not have any of the necessary formalities or paperwork but are selling raffle tickets. This situation is tantamount to selling raffle tickets for a car you don’t own. It’s FRAUD.

In addition to all of the above, how is the RCS Sports Association complying with IRS tax laws relating to the winnings? Who is liable for the tax? There is no statement covering the tax issues on the ticket. Is the $20 donation tax deductable? Is the $20 price for the ticket subject to sales tax? Are the winnings subject to tax? Are the revenues made by the RCS Sports Association being reported propertly? This sounds like a very messy operation, if you ask me!

We’d like answers to these questions. How about you?

In the meantime, Wanna buy a raffle ticket?

Bruno, Deluca, Warner Squirming to Cover It Up

The Ravena Health and Fitness Center Has Become a Monkey on the Backs of Co-Conspirators and Crooks Ravena Mayor John Bruno, Center-Manager-Appointee Cathy Deluca, and Give-the-Library-an-Eviction-Notice Nancy Biscone-Warner

Mayor Bruno, Cathy Deluca, Nancy Warner, Marty Case are All Squirming to Find a Way out of the Pickle They're In.

Mayor Bruno, Cathy Deluca, Nancy Warner, Marty Case are All Squirming to Find a Way out of the Pickle They’re In.

Marlene McTigue and the Ravena News Herald owe this community some honesty. McTigue and the News Herald have to stop deceiving their subscribers with lies and cover-up stories. The Ravena Health and Fitness story is deceptive and misleading. It makes a feeble attempt to make something very bad look pretty good. It’s not and McTigue and the News Herald have to tell the truth, not cover up the lies!

So it goes with the Official Ravena-Coeymanazi Gazette, the Ravena News Herald and local News Herald editor, Marlene McTigue continues the unethical News Herald tradition of misinformation.(Yes. It’s the same Marlene McTigue who put her 5th-grade daughter, Maddie, up to plug the teachers union’s misinformation tactic that failed re: the 2013-14 RCS school budget—despite Matt Miller, Jerry Deluca, and a gaggle of teachers the 2% tax levy passed, defeating their proposed 3.5+%), is right there to misinform the public and to try to haul Bruno’s, Deluca’s and Warner’s arses out of the mess they’ve gotten themselves into with this travesty of community expense, the Ravena Fitness Center!

We’ve reported previously on how Mayor John Bruno and Nancy Biscone-Warner, together with Marty Case and Cathy Deluca, met behind closed doors to hatch this latest idiotic abuse of public office and scam, the Ravena Fitness Center. Ran out and spent some $40,000 of taxpayer money on used fitness equipment and forged ahead with their little scam without a single public hearing, no public comment, and keeping taxpayers and local residents absolutely in the dark.

We recently reported that the Ravena fitness Center is forecast to cost Ravena taxpayers more than $150,000 in 2014. That while the tax base is dwindling, storefronts continue to be boarded up, residential properties have lost value, and everyone’s trying to avoid getting swallowed up by monster potholes! That’s the Mayor John Bruno legacy for Ravena’s upcoming centennial.

 Read More on this Subject

The article appearing in the April 25, 2013, Ravena News Herald, “Ravena Health and Fitness Center gearing up to hit the ground running,” penned by Marlene McTigue, avoids all mention of the crookery that is going on, and paints an overly rosey picture of this public scam.

Recall, dear readers, that we frequently throw out the term Coeymanazis, Incest Club, and Teachers Clique. All of these are intimately related: The Coeymanazis are headed by the Deluca pair, Cathy and Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, who are very closely associated with the teachers clique (a failing bunch of hypocrites on the RCS CSD board of education), who are beholding to outed double-dipper teachers union rep “Matt-the-Mutt” Miller, who is the local lackey for the New York State United Teachers union (NYSUT) in the RCS district. And who do you think is very, very close friendly-like with Matt-the-Mut Miller? It’s  Mary Partridge-Brown of the elect lawyer n0-show-at-board-meetings Peter E. Brown gang.

 stop_the_lies

Now let’s connect the dots on the Ravena village council with the dots on the Ravena Health and Fitness Center scam artists. Here we have Marlene McTigue of the Ravena News Herald painting a pretty picture of Mayor John Bruno’s heroic act of “repurposing” the RCS Community Library space, to create a useless waste of money, a fitness center. Just what Ravena needs. Right? And we then have Cathy Deluca, wife of loudmouth, now pretty much disgraced, Dirty-Hands Jerry Deluca, a much disliked thug on the Coeymans police, a.k.a. Bobo Cop, and keeper of DoDo Cop, Gregory Darlington. Cathy Deluca is typically making nice while she’s conniving to screw someone or the entire community; hubby BoBo Dirty-Hands Jerry is usually waddling around playing law enforcement or mouthing off some nonsense at a school board meeting.

The good news is that recently people in the community are starting to wake up and think. They’re starting to question the lies and misinformation; they’re starting to fight back. Since last year, Matt Miller has lost a lot of credibility in his own circles. First he was fired from his double-dipping “energy manager” position for which he was soaking the district for $18,000 in addition to his teacher salary of about $80,000. He tried to badmouth Dr Alan R. McCartney and prevent his being hired to be RCS CSD superintendent. That failed. He tried to get a board member RK removed from the school board. That failed. His most recent shameful defeat was his failure and Jerry Deluca’s failure to force the school board to accept a more than 3.5% increase in the tax levy; they lost that battle, too, when the board passed Dr McCartney’s 2.0% budget. There’s nothing positive about those people and the only thing you can depend on them to do is to take care of themselves. Just like Cathy Deluca is doing: padding her nest with taxpayer money, $30,000 of  it. We see right through them. Can’t you?

Are ya still with me? We have already identified Marlene McTigue as being in league with the teachers and the teachers union rep, Matt-the-Mutt Miller, and having put her 5th-grade daughter up to plug the teachers outlandish demand for a tax levy increase. But the plot thickens even more if you’re following this, because the teacher on the Ravena village council and social studies teacher at the high school, Marty Case, chimes in obliviously, obviously trying to cover up the sting of public outrage:

“We’re going to be getting a new fitness center and a new library, healthy bodies, healthy minds, it will be a great thing for our community.” (Marty Case, village councilman)

What we need are some “healthy minds” on the village council, the town board. Never mind the “healthy bodies.” The idiot seems to have forgotten that the entire behind-closed-doors conspiracy could just land Mr Case jobless and censured by the NYSED for his involvement in allegedly illegal activity. He also failed to mention the fact that the library’s rent was raised some $600 a month by the village of Ravena because the library couldn’t occupy the new location because Rocco Persico’s (Ravena village council member) cousin, Donny Persico, was delayed in getting a bank loan to finish the remodeling of the location. By the way, that $600 a month increase comes out of the library’s budget, RCS and New Baltimore property  taxpayer monies. Nope. That wasn’t mentioned in the McTigue article either.

Are you still with me? Be patient. Now, Nancy Warner is a Biscone, a cousin to shyster Michael Biscone of Ravena village attorney infamy. Nancy Warner has also been village of Ravena treasurer for about 25-30 years but can’t seem to keep the books straight (Remember the state audit last year and its scathing assessment of Ravena accounting, rather lack of it) nor keep Mayor John Bruno aware of his financial responsibilities under the law (Remember his unforgettable statement, “I didn’t know…”).  Then there’s Cathy Deluca, who managed one failed fitness center in Ravena, and now has been hand-picked to manage the next failed fitness center in Ravena: the Ravena Health and Fitness Center.

One thing I have to hand to McTigue, she got the wording perfectly when she writes:

“Newly appointed Fitness Center Director Cathy Deluca said ‘We’re ready to hit the ground running…'”

Couldn’t have chosen the words more perfectly, “newly appointed fitness center director Cathy Deluca.” Yes, Cathy, you’d damned well better “hit the ground running,” especially when the investigations start up. And we’ll make sure they do start up (we’re filing a complaint with the Secretary of State and the Office of the State Attorney General demanding an investigation of the village of Ravena’s creation of the Health and Fitness Center. We’d like you to support that effort but more on that later).

Reality is Reality. Truth is Truth.

Reality is Reality.
Truth is Truth.

A Hippo in Tights is Still a Hippo!

Cathy Deluca is quoted as having “more than 20 years of experience in the fitness industry.” I’m really sorry, Cathy, but seriously. When’s the last time you or Jerry looked in a mirror that could get all of you in on one shot? Reality is reality. Truth is truth. We don’t buy your “20 years of experience in the fitness industry” crap. Like let’s have some serious disclosure here. Let’s have a list of the places where you’ve gotten all those 20 years of experience (not wiping down equipment or cruising the showers, now, real management experience).

We are calling on all residents of Ravena to see through the smoke screen and demand accountability and transparency. It’s your money they’re spending and they’re spending it without your consent. You need to call them out at the next village meeting and ask questions like:

  • When did you put this out for public comment?
  • When did you hold a public meeting to hear our opinions?
  • When did you ask us if you could spend the $40,000 on used equipment?
  • When did you ask us for inputs on the forecast more than $150,000 in the proposed budget for the Ravena Health and Fitness Center?
  • Where is the business plan for the center?
  • Who is paying for all of the banners and website promotional material already out there?
  • Who authorized the “appointment” of Cathy Deluca to be the “director” of the illegal fitness center, and who decided to pay her $30,000 a year of your money?
  • What are Deluca’s credentials to manage the center and who reviewed and approved them? We want to see her 20 years experience on paper, documentable!
  • What studies were done to determine whether a fitness center will survive in this area, or even is wanted (apart from Bruno’s “vision”, Deluca’s and Warner’s sweet-talking, we have NOTHING in the way of planning or ensuring the best interests of the public’s monies)?
  • In short, if the questions above are not clearly, honestly, convincingly answered: Whose heads will roll first?

You Need to Ask: What's Going On?!?>/big>

You Need to Ask: What’s Going On?!?

Residents, taxpayers! Haven’t you had your fill of a certain bunch of insiders doing what they please in their own interests. Haven’t they almost destroyed this community and this area with their lousy attitudes, their self-appointed privileges, their privileged cliques, their thievery? We need to ask questions and get answers. If we don’t do it now, maybe the government will step in and do it for us? Is that what you’d want?

The rumor is now that in order to save face, Bruno, Deluca, Warner and the rest of the conspirators are considering non-profit status, hoping to recoup some of the money they’ve wasted. Before anything goes non-profit, the questions have to be cleared up that are here and now.  Before anyone takes home $30,000 of taxpayer money, we want to know a hell of a lot or someone’s going to jail!

Mr Michael Fisher Responds…Sort of…

Mr Michael Fisher of the RC Teen Activity Center Finally Stepped up to the Plate and Responds to … We’re Not Quite Sure What He’s Responding To…

Our Response to Mr Fisher's Comment

Our Response to Mr Fisher’s Comment

We have published Mr Michael Fishers comment in its entirety in the comments section of one of our previous articles on the RC Teen Activity Center. In retrospect, we thought that we really should respond to some of Mr Fisher’s statements, to clarify them, if you prefer, and to offer our understanding of what he’s attempting to say. (Fisher’s original comment is so rambling and emotional it was very difficult to digest at one sitting, so we’ve just reproduced some parts of it (in quotes and maroon) and provided our comments below.)

“Ok enough is enough. I stated to everyone that I will not get involved in politics, although there is this one guy here with this blog who is trying to drag me into the politics.”

Mr Fisher appears to be very naïve or deceptive or both when he makes such a statement. In fact, in a comment published on this blog in response to Mr Fisher’s alter ego RavenaCitizen, you can read exactly what our position is: “Michael Fisher has willingly and voluntarily become a part of local politics and he can’t simply escape that fact by simply saying that he wants to stay out of politics in this district. That’s idiotic, to be very honest. He’s not running a gas station or a hair salon, for Pete’s sake! He’s made a highly charged political statement and has made political statements galore throughout his promotion campaign of the Teen Center. He is injecting himself into a political relationship with the village, the town, the school district, the churches, the social institutions and organizations of the district, and is placing himself in a very tenuous and sensitive position in parent child relationships. How much more political can it possibly get?”

“So I am here to say my peace, and you will not see me on here again. If someone should know of a lace where blogs can be posted by both parties and not be editied for ones own benefit, please email me at michael@rcteencenter.com and we can continue this in public forum elsewhere. The reason I am looking for a place on the web, is because the owner of this blog is editing and posting to his benefit.”

[Editor’s Note: You can do that right here, Mr Fisher. You already have!] Mr Fisher, is either very badly informed, naïve, or plainly malicious to make that statement. Anyone who comments on this blog or on any of the articles published on this blog knows that this is absolutely untrue! Mr Fisher is showing some very uncomplimentary colors when he makes a statement like this.

“I am Michael C. Fisher, I reside at [redacted] Cottage Street, Ravena, NY 12143, in Albany County. I am a volunteer firefighter in Coeymans Fire Department, and yes I work full time as a Leasing Consultant for Oakbrook Manor LLC in Ravena.”

That’s nice! Finally, the writer of the comment identifies him/herself. We do wonder, though, how being a volunteer firefighter and a leasing consultant (What is that anyway? Are written and oral communications skills a requirement?) qualifies Mr Fisher to be a principal in a facility that claims to provide social and academic support and services to adolescents.

“You see, the owner of this blog knows this because the ravenacitizen is someone that I know and has forwarded personally to the owner of this blog copies of my Deed to my home on Cottage Street, a copy of my power bill to my home on Cottage Street and a copy of my firefighter ID. Although no mention was made of that from the blogger…”

We and others have repeatedly told RavenaCitizen that we are not interested in third-party information, nor in receiving questionable redacted documents from a third party that allegedly are in response to our demands for disclosure from Mr Fisher. We do not use that sort of information; it’s clearly hearsay and very iffy. We have repeatedly asked why Mr Fisher needs to go through RavenaCitizen (is Mr Fisher actually RavenaCitizen?) when he could easily have simply answered the questions publicly in any of the forms we had previously suggested. Or he could have left a sensible response on this blog. Strange way to behave in our opinion.
