We Have Received Some Comments That Indicate To Us That There Is Some Confusion Regarding The Operator Of The RC Teen Activity Center And A Very Popular Teacher At The RCS Middle School.
While we have made it very clear that we are not bashing anyone and that we are simply asking important questions relating to the RC Teen Activity Center, some of our readers have risen to the occasion to defend their “Mr Fisher.” I was very curt and blunt with one commenter who seemed to have been confused and vigorously defended her “Mr Fisher.” I now understand her confusion and I’d like to conditionally apologize for the rough treatment s/he received at my hands.
To be clear: Mr Michael Fisher is the operator of the RC Teen Activity Center in Ravena. Mr William Fisher is a teacher at the RCS Middle School. On this blog we are discussing only the RC Teen Activity Center and Mr Michael Fisher not the RCS Middle School and Mr William Fisher.
Mr William Fisher is a very popular and loved teacher at the RCS Middle School and we have that on very reliable authority: some of his students and several parents. So, Mr William Fisher we would like to congratulate you on a very special reputation you have obviously earned at the RCS Middle School. While there may have been some confusion in the names, what ultimately came out in all of this is your fine reputation! So we conditionally apologize to you for any anxiety we may have caused to you!
We do want to emphasize, too, that there is no reason whatsoever to believe that Mr Michael Fisher of the RC Teen Activity Center is not attempting to do good for the community. We support all that is good in this community. Our points made on this blog critique only a number of concerns and inconsistencies that we have noted in the leadership and organization of the RC Teen Activity Center. The leadership and organization is not the product of a single person but is the result of many interrelated factors and interactions of a number of people and agencies. We do not want to make the impression that we are singling out Mr Michael Fisher as an individual nor do we want to distract from his basic intentions.
As always, we want to continue our policy of truth and correctness and we intend always to publicize and own up to any misunderstandings we may inadvertently have caused. That policy is what makes us credible and reliable.

I wasn’t bitchin about my letters to the editor sent to the News Herald. I havent written one to the News Herald in a long time 4-5 years ago. I was noting what a good man Richard was the last of a breed who knew their community and the paper refected that in the stories and artitcles. he printed now its mostly legal notices, sad. It was on topic noting no-one gives a dam even when your family has been around for along time . However, how can I edit my comments when I dont know whats in your head to edit my edit,editing how I think you will think you will change my words on paper; which you always have final say anyway because your the editor ( boy say that ten times fast). I was paying you a comp. geee—-wizzzzz

I beg to differ. I’m speaking from direct, personal experience: In the later years, just before his cancer became terminal, Dick Bleezarde would publish anything, with no fact-finding whatsoever. The standard of his “journalism” was abysmal. His business practices and ethics were just as Neanderthal. I don’t believe, to this day, that Dick Bleezarde actually wanted to be in the newspaper business but was hooked by his father and grandfather in carrying on a dying tradition. Dick was ready to take a buck and publish; it’s that simple, he had to make ends meet. It it sold papers, all the better. Ethics? Justice? Fairness? Professionalism? Forgetaboutit! In fact, the Ravena News Herald was a local tool; Bleezarde wasn’t the editor-in-chief, the Ravnea-Coeymanazis were, and I wouldn’t doubt for a minute that they got to approve anything that went into that rag!
That having been said, the Ravena News Herald has not improved and, if it is possible, may even have declined. What does one find in it these days apart from obituaries, advertisements, paid ads, and legal notices. Sure there’s the local BS but that qualifies it as a newsletter, not journalism.

This why you have a fast-growing number of readers, almost 100,000 readers in 9 months. You understand and see there are at least 3 sides to every story and at least 9 perspectives to every story! You print them even if you don’t agree!!! You repect your readers!!! You print corrections when your wrong!!! I can’t wait to use less adverbs and colorful clip art or at least new clip art. I hope by time you reach 250,000 readers you will sign who you are. It’s sad mainsteam news papers hate you so much, they can’t even find reporters for themselves. The Ravena News Herald, when Richard Blezared owned it, would love when I would write “letters to the editor” because (1) he didn’t have to pay me, and (2) it sells the paper and when I was on the front page it was a sellout. I don’t know if that was a good thing or bad.

Well, Thank you! Laszlo. We’re pleased you noticed and hope that you’re not the only one. But judging from many of the comments and confidential e-mails, you’re not alone. Readers love the reports and, while they have their own opinions, which we welcome, we do enjoy reading them and publishing them. It’s good for the community to have a safety valve.
While I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at with your comment on the adverbs and the clip art, they’re all there for a specific purpose. They work.
The principal that guides this blog is that it should not have an individual’s face stuck to it. It would then become that individual and lose it’s value as an impersonal forum for comment. You’ll notice that none of the articles have bylines and are all signed “the editor.” That’s done for a good reason. But comments are different. That’s where you are stating what YOU think and feel. It’s the commenter speaking and not the blog. Comments can have a face, the blog should remain impersonal. It should be noted, however, that what appears in the featured articles is not “the blogger” speaking but is material sent in, verified, confirmed, cleaned up, edited, and then published. It’s from the community for the community.
As for your letters to the editor, your comments are letters to the editor. In fact, we have more readers in one week than the News Herald and the Greene County News, and our circulation is much, much wider! So, stop bitching about the News Herald not publishing your letters. Post them here and get read by the world, literally.
Most editors of print media do not write or publish for the community. Most have no clue about the community. Most publishers are even more ignorant. They have their agendas and those agendas come from the owner of the publication and have nothing to do with truth or facts…just take the Albany Times Union as a prime example…just how much dirt can they publish to get people to pick up the rag so that they can say that their advertisers’ display ads got seen. Quite frankly, the best facts you get on the street, then you go to the blog. Simple.
