No More Kissin’ Cousins!

At Least Not When It Concerns the Mayor John Bruno Memorial Fitness Center vs. the RCS Community Library! Josie Biscone-Bruno Pulls No Punches in a Confrontation with Cousin and Ravena Village Trustee Nancy Biscone-Warner!

I'm gonna kick your fat fitness club ass, Biatch!

I’m gonna kick your fat fitness club ass, Biatch!

Well, Josie Biscone-Bruno, a trustee of the RCS Community Library, pulled no punches at the December 18, 2012, Ravena village council meeting, when she read the riot act to mayor John Bruno (was he alive at the meeting?) and cousin Nancy Biscone-Warner, wife of town justice Harold “Hal” Warner (under investigation by the NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct for possible ethics violations).

Josie Biscone-Bruno, bless her black little soul, lost it when the Village of Ravena tried to argue itself out of a corner when accused of a retaliatory rent increase amounting to about 33% imposed on the RCS Community Library. The outrageous rent increase becomes effective as of January 1, 2013 if the community library is still in its present location in the village hall building.

The Library was paying about $2783.50 a month in rent  before the village of Ravena deprived it of the activities room space. The library lost the activities room space because mayor John Bruno needed the space to store the $40,000 in used fitness equipment purchased with public funds, your money, for use in the illegal community fitness club. We’ve already reported extensively how the whole fitness club business was all done behind closed doors, in secret meetings, with no public inputs.

After the space was taken by mayor Bruno and his thugs, the library was still paying $2,408.50 (obviously with fewer services to offer the community). Now, this valuable community organization is being abused and raped with a 33% increase, clearly retaliation, and will have to pay more than $3,008.50 a month starting in January 2013!  It should be noted that in addtion to the rents paid to the village of Ravena, the RCS Community Library is paying an additional $375.00 to local churches to accommodate the activities done in the space now used to store the fitness equipment!

That’s about where Josie lost it and hauled into her cousin Nancy Biscone-Warner in a verbal exchange that made the World Wrestling Federation shows look like pre-school. You Go Girl! Kudos for Josie!

The Activities Room Was Used for After School Educational Activities.

The Activities Room Was Used for After School Educational Activities.
Now it’s used for storing used fitness equipment!

The rent increase was characterized correctly as retaliation. It’s really outrageous that the Village of Ravena should be continuing to punish an important educational and community service like the RCS Community Library for conditions clearly beyond its control.  Of course, Rocco Persico (email Rocco) was conspicuously absent from the meeting; could that be because his cousin, Don Persico, owns the building into which the library is to move, and who is behind schedule on the necessary renovations?

Mayor John “Braindead” Bruno impotently attempted to justify the many instances of abuse committed against the library by noting that the village had a commitment to the “employees” of the fitness center. He even suggested that the library was at fault for the delays in the renovations of the former Knights of Columbus hall on Main Street in Ravena. The man’s lost his senile mind! (Maybe that’s a good thing, it’s never really worked all that well!)

We Have Illegal Commitments!Get Outa Here!

We Have Illegal Commitments!
Get Outa Here!

Well, our question continues to be how mayor Bruno and his thugs  could force through some illegal misuse of public trust to create a fitness center in a village where at least two have already failed* in just recent history, and in a village where no market studies have been done to gauge whether such an irresponsible waste of public funds would even break even.

*We have some conflicting information on whether or not one of the previous fitness businesses actually “failed.” We are willing to give the benefit of doubt, and accept that it is equally possible that the owners simply closed a ‘thriving business’ to move to Long Island, after having created the business and purchasing equipment. If anyone has more accurate information on the Fisk’s fitness center, we would be very happy to make a correction…and an apology.

And who are these “employees” to whom mayor Bruno is referring? Two or three of his close friends or family? And what about the commitment to the residents of the RCS community who want and need a library? Of course, the best interests of Bruno and his friends are far more important than the needs of the RCS community. Right? WRONG! Just ask Josie Biscone-Bruno!

Most people in this district probably don’t realize the impact of the village of Ravena’s screwing the RCS Community Library! Did you realize that the RCS Community Library is an non-profit organization serving the residents of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District. The RCS Community Library service area includes the southern part of the Town of Bethlehem (Selkirk, South Bethlehem, and part of Glenmont), the Town of Coeymans, and the southeastern corner of the Town of New Scotland (Feura Bush), all in Albany County, plus the riverside hamlet of New Baltimore in the Town of New Baltimore, in Greene County. Taxes are 97% of the Library’s income and the tax base is the same as the school district’s. That’s why the Library’s budget was on the ballot with the 2012-13 school budget. If it’s costing the Library more to operate it’s costing taxpayers not only in Ravena but in the whole RCS district more to operate it. That’s all thanks to a senile mayor John Bruno (nominated to be the Godfather of the fitness club) and his thugs, which include Cathy Deluca (nominated to be manager of the fitness club), Nancy Biscone-Warner (nominated to be the fitness princess), and the rest of the community-hating Coeymanazis!

Thank you! Josie Biscone-Bruno for stepping up to the plate in defense of our very important community institution, the RCS Community Library. Bravo!

I agree with all the comments that I see here, except one. I may be speaking out of turn here, but why is there all this bashing the Teen Center in Ravena. Someone in this post stated the soon-to-fail teen center. This is a great thing for this community. Josie Bruno that you all talk so highly of here is the one who leased the building to Fisher, and I believe the building is still for sale, I think that Fisher is only renting the building. Fisher is fairly new to this community and I dont believe he has any ties with any of the Ravena THUGS. The teen center is offering a lot for the kids of this community who other wise, hang on out the street, bumper sticker our cars, destroy the village gazebo, vandalize statues, ect…

I have heard nothing but good things from people of this community for the RC Teen Center and from what I have read on Facebook and the website, anyone with questions about the place call or visit the Teen Center.

No, you are not speaking out of turn. This is a place where you can speak your mind on issues just like the one you are addressing in your comment. We invite different viewpoints and are grateful to you residents who come out and say what’s on your mind. Thank you!

I don’t think anyone is really intentionally bashing the Teen Center in Ravena. Like everything else in the district there are a great many questions that go unanswered and that leads to suspicion and mistrust. I’m sure Mr Fisher has his heart in the right place but I also think that the whole idea of the teen center was too hasty and didn’t get much planning or inputs from the people who need to be consulted: the parents. I also think that it’s a poorly planned business venture, too. We’re not talking about a church youth group who are there because they have shared core values. In the case of the teen center, it’s a very heterogeneous group that may need special supervision and special provisions in terms of entertainment, discipline, monitoring, even such things as insurance (what about the liability that is associated with such a place?) What about safety issues? (Or do you want me to trust the Ravena Planning Board?) From the outside, too, it’s makeshift, dark, really spooky. As I said, it was like popped on most of us and there were just too many questions that went unanswered.

I think Mr Fischer is in the same boat, judging from what I heard at the Village board meeting. Seems he’s been led down the rosy path and has a number of unanswered questions, too. Why is that, I wonder?

I guess the main point here is leadership. When starting any project like the teen center you have to have the vision, you have to have goals, objectives, and tactics. You have to get consensus and you have to build relationships with your co-leaders. Has anyone identified who they are? I don’t think so. It’s those co-leaders who will recruit disciples, the people you want working for you inside and outside the organization. These may actually be teens. You have to get commitment from the people you want to lead and to do that you need authority. Then you have to be reasonable. Look, the teen center apparently wants to attract a 16-18 y.o. group? Or is it 14-18? That’s a very volatile group with some great lines 😉 Know what’s on their minds? You need to. And you need to maybe persuade them otherwise. How? What does Mr Fisher offer that that mobile group can’t find elsewhere? And do they want it, are they interested in it enough to commit to the teen center at the loss of the alternatives. That’s what I mean by planning and leadership.

Please correct me if you have facts that I don’t have and by Jimmie, I’ll promote the hell out of the place. But I can’t if it is as it appears.

I really don’t want to come accross and the Teen Center Scrooge but I do look at things from a somewhat different perspective. Most people in this community see a quick fix and they’re an easy sell. I don’t want to be mean, but look around you. Most are not really the sharpest tacks in the box but they’re hard-working, most are honest, they’d give you the shirt off their back, they’re generally simply wonderful people. But they’re naïve and that’s why they’re so easy to victimize. It’s terrible but it’s true.

I know I’m right because I’m one of them! How’s that grab ya?

You even mention that Mr Fisher is not from this area and that is something that really sends up red flags. You can’t be a missionary in a country about which you know practically nothing! You have to know the culture, the language, the history. And you have to be really good at what you do whether it’s preaching or controlling teens. Look at the high school, for example. We’ve got teachers who are supposed to have great training in managing teens, school psychologists on site, deans, teacher’s aides–and we still hear about incredible situations and problems. And that’s in a school where there are authority figures all over the place! What’s Mr Fisher bringing into this equation that they’re missing? Is the the Pied Piper of late teenies or the St Francis patron saint of teens? I don’t get it yet.

Be careful, very careful whom you listen to, where you get your information, and be critical and skeptical of what you hear and from whom you hear it. People are motivated by different things, as you know, and some are motivated by the wrong things. And to suggest one call the Teen Center to get a report card evaluation of the teen center is like calling the Bar Association to ask if they know any good lawyers. Careful.

I do want to be quite clear, though: I’m not bashing or being cynical. I want good things for this community and for this district and I want the best of the good things to succeed. If the teen center is well planned, well managed, and has done its homework to know what it needs to do and what it needs to offer to get and keep a following, that’s what I’d like to see happen.

Maybe we should get together some of the smart men and woman of the Town of Coeymans and the village of Ravena ( no board members)…..and start a organization to overlook the members that are leading our village and town down the wrong road….before we all go to the poor house…….

It will happen one day Thanks taxpayer getting mad

Not to be funny, but you used the word “overlook” in your comment. That’s the problem up til now: residents have overlooked the crimes that have been committed against them and their children. I think you might have meant to write “oversee” the jerks on the boards. I can’t even bring myself to use the word “leading” because they’re not leaders (with the exception of supervisor Stephen Flach, who I think is really trying to do a decent job), they’re servers; they serve themselves!

But you are right on the money (no pun intended, of course). The morons we have on the Ravena, Coeymans, New Baltimore town boards are wayward cretans and too many of our neighbors are too stupid to recognize that fact, so they follow like idiot rats following a Pied Piper. Go figure!

Yeah! They’ll send us all down the river … too many are already in the poorhouse … while they’re padding their pockets with our tax dollars!

Your so right, “Getting Mad”, and you’ve hit the nail on the head. Now join us! Download the letters, personalize them and send them! Make a difference!

You’ve taken the first giant step: you come out and left a comment!

      Peace! And Happy Holidays!

When they started putting the pool in and enhancing the weight facilities in the high school, wasn’t part of the concept to get people from the town to come in under “resident memberships”? Heck, that’s their justification now for keeping the pool open at all versus saving a ton of money by closing it.

If the H.S. weight room is available to townsfolk to get memberships to, why do they need an exercise facility in Ravena at all? So the mayor has something to do during their lunch break?

Sounds like you’re on to something, Simon.

But I think this most recent outrages was basically to (1) make it possible for Bob Fisk (a member of the Persico tribe) to recoup his investment on equipment he had acquired for his fitness club, (2) to clear the building at the time of its sale to Fisher who opened the soon-to-fail teen center, (3) to give Nancy Biscone-Warner a place to work out that’s close to the village offices, (4) to get Cathy Deluca off the streets and doing something almost productive (using up clean air int the Ravena fitness center), (5) to make it look like the Bicone legacy of more than 3 decades killing businesses is creating a pseudo-business.

      Did I miss anything?

It seems that the small vacant or senile minds in Ravena can only duplicate others’ failures or abandoned enterprises. Hence your examples of the Deluca Debacle swimming pool and the H.S. weights room?

Those people in the Ravena village offices are either retarded, senile, or just plain bored. Just one more reason why it should be merged with the administration of the Town of Coeymans. At least then we’ll have all the criminals in one building.

Thanks very much for your comment. Nice to hear from you!

      Peace!

The ONE time I don’t make pop-corn! As I watched the Village of Ravena board meeting on T.V. it was real entertainment. I agree it was really good!!! Josie you go girl!!!! Where’s the local bookie; what the heck! They are so corrupt in Ravena I need to make a little money on the side to pay my misused tax dollars without any input here. I’m betting that Josie can feed the FBI records faster than the mayor can shred them, so my money is on Josie. She has taken so much bull-crap from mayor John Bruno over the years! Fact: I personally saw Josie take it over the years!!! Doesn’t mayor John Bruno realize 1/3 of the property taxes paid for the RCS Library come from Greene County tax payers and a lot of Bethlehem town tax payers too? So the homeowners in both Albany and Greene counties can demand that the Greene Co. D.A. investigate the misuse of their tax dollars without any notice of public meetings, no public comment, or no public hearings hearings. And they must not forget to CC their complaints to NYS Attorney General’s office and NYS Comptrollers office, since it does cross two counties. If I were Josie or the RCS library board I would send the Ravena village board a letter that the RCS library is respectfully depositing rent money in escrow until the NYS Attorney General and the NYS Comptroller investigate and give the RCS library sound advice as what to do in this case where the Ravena board is so out of control. So, my advice to all you taxpayers and property owners out there: Mail your letters and cc the NYS Attorney General and the NYS Comptroller!

Thank you, Laszlo. Great observations and good advice. The fact that the Ravena village board’s illicit misconduct should be noticed to the Greene County DA, the state Attorney General, and to the state Comptroller. I wouldn’t leave out the state legislators, either. The Ravena village board has shut out the local voters, taxpayers, and property owners and is thumbing their noses to the very people who elected those crooks! May Bruno’s half dead (already dead mentally, apparently) so he doesn’t give a pig’s ass what goes on but the others? They all need to be tarred and feathered after being duely humiliated and investigated.

      Thanks again, L.
