“We’re glad, finally, to report that there seems to be more discontent than ever in Ravena, Coeymans and Selkirk”*

(*Statement in a recent Albany Times Union editorial)

Filthy Rags
Another Times Union Editorial

A recent Times Useless (a.k.a. Albany Times Union, a newspaper owned by the Hearst Corporation) editorial sounds like it’s dictated by Alice Whalen or Howard Engel: “We’re glad, finally, to report that there seems to be more discontent than ever in Ravena, Coeymans and Selkirk…” But to cover its ass legally, the editorial expressly uses the word “opinion” to protect itself from possible liability and lawsuits.

Or, maybe the Times Useless knows what’s best for the RCS community and district. Maybe the Times Useless should vote for all of us and maybe that will save our useless butts. Yeah! Let’s all ask the Times Useless editor to vote for all of us. That will solve all of our problems and we’ll finally get some positive press out of that useless rag! (I don’t really think that’s a great idea.)

Now, think, good readers: When can you remember the Times Useless ever writing something fair, balanced, decent about the RCS community or the RCS school district? The Times Useless enjoys what is called Schadenfreude (pronounced: shadenfroyde), the delight in another’s bad luck or suffering. Is that the best the Times Useless can serve up about our community? There are two possibilities that come to mind when I read something as slanted and biased as the Times Useless editorial:

  1. Either the editorial was written by someone who has no knowledge of the community and the district, an outsider in other words. If that is the case, the editorial in the TU rag is totally unreliable, is the product of ignorance and simplemindedness, calculated only to victimize a suffering community and to make money by scandalizing us.
  2. Or the editorial was written by someone being fed the false facts and what to write. Someone or some group in our RCS community is providing the TU rag with misinformation about the community. In that case, the rag is totally unreliable and is a mere tool of some shadowy crook using it to manipulate public opinion against the RCS community and district. But what’s to gain by destroying the dignity of our community and embarrassing the good, hard-working majority by writing such garbage? Who knows? Christ Jesus was innocent but was sold for 30 pieces of silver…what’s the price of selling out the RCS community and blaming the innocent?  Evil does work in bizarre ways to accomplish its purposes, though.

The bottom line is: There are traitors in our midst and there are sheeple who believe them (including the Times Useless). But isn’t it great to know we have the support and the compassion of the Times Union to encourage us in our moments of challenge and in the negotiation and decision-making process? Isn’t it great to know that the local rag is so happy at what it seems to think is our continuing descent to despair? Thank you! Times Union for your kind observations. It’s good to know you’re there for your neighbors! Scumbag rag!

The unsigned editorial then continues to describe the RCS school district’s operation as “school district’s follies.”

Well, yes, maybe the principals are inept and incompetent in many ways, and

  • YES! the outgoing school superintendent really couldn’t handle the job (actually, it was a teacher’s clique strategy (they had the majority on the board of education)  to hire her to a higher-paying position the enhance her pension payments. That was done thanks to her cronies, the teachers on the RCS Board of Education! Just like they kept the double-dipping teachers union representative, Matt “the Mutt Miller” on the payroll as “energy manager” to the tune of $10,000 a year in addition to his teacher’s salary!), and
  • YES! The combination of poor leadership in the schools assisted by characteristic Ravena-Coeymans political corruption (Jerry “Dirty Hands Jerry” Deluca and the Coeymans Police Department) and the lack of leadership in the superintendent’s office do seem to be folly). And…
  • YES!, the local Coeymanazis do have excessive influence with the teachers union and the teacher’s clique. And YES! the teachers union and the teachers clique cooperate with the local ex-teacher superintendent, Elizabeth Smith,  to overlook any enforcement of law, policy or procedure in the district.
  • And YES! The close cooperation between the corrupt school administrators, the coziness between the teachers union and certain loudmouth agitators (led by the sour-grapes team of Cathy Deluca and Gerald “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca and other sour-grapes agitators who were forced to give up their positions on the RCS board of education (was that around the time of their sordid affair?)
  • YES! Those are the outspoken, vociferous “leaders” of the community who promised residents and parents everything if they voted YES!  for the $42 million dollar school budget, who pulled every unlawful stunt to get the exhorbitent budget passed, got the RCS school district audited and investigated for voting fraud and voting irregularities, and then, when it became obvious to their supporters that the Delucas and their handlers couldn’t deliver, started a vicious agenda and campaign of scapegoating the non-teacher members of the RCS board of education. The people the teachers and their handlers are savaging with the help of the Times Useless are local business persons, not residents of the teachers’ ivory tower, the non-teacher members of the board of education are local business persons with grass roots experience in the district, who grew up in the district!

    RCS’s Worst Enemies
    The “College” & The “Deans
Top Row: Matt “the Mutt Miller, “Dirty-Hands Jerry” Deluca, Cathy Deluca.”
Figures: The Teachers Clique on the RCS Board of Education.

And guess who tried to put a stop to the excessive increase in the tax levy and who attempted to reduce the budget? (Hint: Could it be the non-teacher board of education members the Times Useless is trashing?) But the teachers clique on the RCS school board, the special-interest clique who pulled at residents’ heart strings with the slogan, “It’s for the kids!” (and who tore down Vote No! signs and planted kids wearing Vote YES! t-shirts  at the polling place–which was in the high-school, of all places.) YES! Right again! It was the non-teacher businesspersons now the majority on the RCS school board. That’s who tried to keep the budget within reasonable limits!

    RCS’s Biggest Problem:
    A Short Memory!

RCS has a very short memory and what it does remember is so disgusting most go immediately into denial mode. That the biggest problem in this community. Lest we forget and there are some very short memories in this RCS community of  the local Pieter B. Coeymans Parent Teachers Organization members (one name in particular comes to mind, Donna Leput-Hommel but just do a search on this blog to get the other culprits’ names)–who are close collaborators of the Coeymanazis–who promised to punish local businesses with their checkbooks if the businesses dared to oppose the $42 million school budget. Can you imagine the mentality?!? In an area that is hemorrhaging tax base, has lost innumerable businesses, whose infrastructure is collapsing, a community that has to consider eliminating the local police department to save money, and members of one of the RCS school organizations (Parent-Teachers, get it?) want to punish local businesses for good business sense! In RCS community and district we don’t have to imagine it…IT’S RIGHT HERE!

Maybe now citizens will say it’s time to begin anew” But it’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along!

There is more discontent in the RCS because the residents are in a hole of denial and frustration and are just digging deeper because they are guided by misguided emotion rather than logical reasoning!

Maybe now citizens will say it’s time to begin anew” But it’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along!

    • We have been saying all along that the RCS district needs to begin anew. Beginning anew means getting rid of the old special-interest groups, the power groups, and re-establishing a semblance of democratic process. It also means finding some dignity and telling rags like the Times Union to shut their foul-smelling mouths and pick on someone else.

Maybe now citizens will say it’s time to begin anew” But it’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along!

    • Yes! We have been writing all along about the RCS school district’s follies, as well as the initimate involvement of the special-interest groups, the corrupt power groups (the Coeymanazis, the Bottle Blitz promoters, the Sports Association), and the corrupt teachers union (Matt “the Mutt” Miller) and the teachers clique on the board. Conflict of Interest is the problem in the RCS district, and that was clear in hiring a local teacher/principal, Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith, to be superintendent of schools, who is leaving a mess behind, after having jumped ship! Typical of the in-crowd’s strategies to take advantage of the residents who have been suppressed and misinformed for decades!

Maybe now citizens will say it’s time to begin anew” But it’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along!

What comes next is not surprising, given the fact that the editorial was obviously written by one of the teachers clique or someone cooperating with it. How can anyone on the Times Union editorial staff have an opinion about the RCS community or school district? What business is it of the Times Useless, anyway, meddling in RCS affairs as if the Times Useless were paying our taxes or somehow benefitting this community. Quite the contrary, the Times Useless has done nothing but scandalize this RCS community and district. But, all that having been said, nothing stops the Times Useless from writing:

Our opinion: Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school board members hire an unsuitable superintendent. It’s all the more reason why the board has to go. What else, pray tell, might the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school board do to make a further mockery of the public trust? And what will it take for the community to get its schools back — free of a board incapable of running them competently?

Well, Times Useless editor, We really don’t care what your opinion is. If you need to sell your rag so badly that you have to appeal to the baser, more sordid intellects by publishing trash, here’s a dime. Go buy yourself a life and bring back the change!

But the real punchline comes in the Times Useless editorial when it writes:

“Matthew Miller, president of the RCS Teachers Association, is right: Hiring someone like Mr. McCartney means ridicule for a school system that seems to thrive upon it.”

We’ve published so much on Matt “the Mutt” Miller’s amorality, his double-dipping, his contribution to the bullying problem at RCS, and his coziness with the Coeymanazis, this really sums up the Times Useless’ sources. (Just search Miller on this blog to get a clear picture of who that character is.) Any editorial that quotes someone like Matt “the Mutt” Miller as an authority, and then goes ahead and actually admits Miller is the “president of the RCS Teachers Association,” has lost all credibility it may have had. But when your credibility is as low as the Albany Times Union’s is, what’s to lose?

You Couldn’t Have Finished Reading Already!

As long as we’re talking about signs being torn down… there’s still a “Vote No” sign on Rt 144 north of the port.

And referring to the last image on this page… Sorry, Bro… totally blanked out while reading this article. I’ll re-read it later.

Yes. I keep seeing that sign every time I cruise down 144. I think it’s about time the property owner cleaned it up. I also see Tom Dolan signs still peppering the area…he’s no longer a candidate; he’s now a full-fledged member of the Coeymans Losers Club 😉 He should to the environmental thing (isn’t that one of the things he was running on?) and get his polluting signs picked up. But knowing how responsible Coeymanazi politicians are, that’ll probably never happen 😉

What, Simon, did the ol’ brain peter out…tough going, eh?

Well, the story must be the most important piece of news in this area. Never mind the shootings, robberies and other daily felonies, RCS must be the hot topic for the readers of the Albany paper.
I too read and reread the editorial/stories and the one fact that stands out to me was the phrase ” pointing to a 2006 audit by state Comptroller Alan Hevesi”. You ask why? Well, here is a link to the NY Times(…)Alan Hevesi story that should add some real creditable background to the story:

If a ‘forced retirement’ makes one a bad person, I wonder how bad an actual conviction and prison sentence means to the accuser?

While I do not like the lousy publicity for whatever the reason is, I think the move to a Business-Like environment in the District is a good one. Hopefully the voters will agree next Spring.

In an unrelated but important item, just before and just after school started last month, I continually drove south on 9W past the MS/HS complex and saw athletes with their coach running from the 101 intersection on the West shoulder(mostly) towards the Village of Ravena. I wondered why they could not use the great track we purchased around the really great football field and not expose the kids to the vagaries of 9W traffic? Also, not that laws or the thought processes of our Athletic Department are always as they should be, but, I thought we were supposed to walk/run FACING traffic which one
cannot do if one is running South on 9W on the West side….. Just wondering.
Just for fun, I found the following link that attempts to explain the safety thing:

    Click to access oped_pedestrianssafety.pdf

It clearly says “Pedestrians: Please Walk Facing Oncoming Traffic”.
Others have also commented on the athletes running on 9W with their coach.

Thanks for the time and details.

Well, Pundit, the mind boggles, doesn’t it. I mean if there’s a mind to boggle.

I’m fascinated by this RCS bunch! In all my experience, I have never seen such a sociopathic, steeped-in-denial, cut-off-your-nose, shoot-yourself-in-the-foot, scapegoating bunch of yahoos! It’s a PhD study! Someone should write it up…I mean someone who is not schizoid, paranoid, or factoid 😉

Thanks very much for your fine comment! I hope our readers (more than 70 thousand now!) enjoy it as much as I did.
