Warning: If you are a student or a minor, please leave this blog now.
Parents! When you put those kids of yours on a school bus and wave bye to them for the next 7-9 hours, do you expect that they might be under the supervision of responsible, competent adults? It’s a reasonable expectation, you’d think, wouldn’t you?
While they’re at school, you’d think that someone, anyone would be aware of what they’re doing…that they’d be monitored and watched to ensure that they’re getting what you’re paying the teachers and the school district for: teaching, education.
Well, imagine our surprise when we received a large number of comments on this blog from an individual or individuals identifying him/herself /themselves as students at RCS highschool or highschool seniors and signing as the “Concerned Students of RCS High School.” Some of the comments are rather long and so vile and vitriolic that they initially really raised some suspicion that it was not a student or a group of students writing the comments, but an adult masquerading as a “student.” Unfortunately, our suspicion proved false; the writers are, in fact, students at RCS highschool!
In one comment the author(s) actually sign off using the name s “Timothy, Cassie, Karin, Tyler, Sierra, Brandon and numerous other students ” Moreover, one of the writers, Karin Rachael, identifies her co-operators by name as Karin, Tim, Cassie, Brandon, Sierra.
What’s worse, sill is that in a comment, Karin Rachael actually emphasizes that their “teachers were there as well, laughing at your idiocy,” while the students were writing their salacious nonsense.
The comments were sent from about 9 a.m. throughout the day until about 6 p.m., one or two coming in later at night. One commenter, Tim, even managed to pump out a threat note which we promptly sent to school authorities and law enforcement. (Click here to read the comments). The comments were, as we’ve said, rather long, not very nice, and rambling, touching upon a number of issues that probably wouldn’t be high on a teenager’s list, unless coached by an adult. As mentioned above, teachers were involved.
But the basic question is: What is a student, who is or should be at school, doing sending comments to a blog? Where are the teachers? Where is the supervision? The students could be enjoying pony-porn or sending bully messages to another student for all they know! An interesting scenario just after the question of bullying was raised at a Board of Education meeting and was answered by the Superintendent to the effect that things are under control in the RCS CSD! Baloney!
Well, we finally had enough and we sent an email to the e-mail address verified for the poster, and sent copies to schools superintendant E. Smith and to the entire Board of Education for investigation.
If that is the use to which the RCS students are putting taxpayer funded computer equipment it is a serious issue for reconsideration of how taxpayer money should be spent in future!
But what is especially worrying is what one commenter identifying herself as Karin.Rachael writes: “While I was typing this, I was at lunch, where I’m allowed to use my cellphone, and the other students commenting were right there with me…My teachers were there as well, laughing at your idiocy.” This is especially regrettable when one thinks that the students may be being goaded by teachers with a special vested interest in getting the impressionalble to do their dirty work for them. Imagine the scenario: you have your views at home and then you send your kids off to be indoctrinated by teachers who might be using them to promote the teacher’s interests, even over against those interests of the parents! Just who were those teachers standing over the students busilly pecking away at their cell phones sending their dictated messages? Can we have some teachers’ names, maybe? We guess now that at least one of our questions has been answered: The kids didn’t find the blog on their own; they had some help from their teachers!
What emerges most conspicuously from the comments made by the so-called high-school seniors is their immaturity, their infantile frustration, their anger, their confusion, and their mastery of disrespect and incoherent but spiteful language. Well done RCS CSD educators! You’ve coached them well to be an embarassment to us all! Another crop of misfits is released on the world! It’s scandalous!
We are also sending separate copies of the comments and the identifiers to the NYS Department of Education with our questions, and to the FBI field office in Albany, because we feel if it is students then the supervisors and teachers have to answer some questions; if it is an adult or adults, then we take it very seriously when adults pose as minors or misuse/abuse minors to achieve some perverse objective. (Read our e-mail at: Gmail – Your Comments to the Smalbany Blog_5-3-12_1225_Notice)
Whatever the case, the matter is currently being investigated and we hope to have identified the culprits in short order, because we have an e-mail address, an IP address for the sender and the origin. In addition, the high school should know who is online at the times the comments were sent and should be able to trace the perps. Once that’s done, it’ll be quite easy to find out who was supposed to be supervising the delinquents.
It if turns out that it’s actually a fraud or a conspiracy perped by adults, that’s an entirely different kettle of fish, and will be dealt with appropriately.
Parents: Do you really know where your children are and what they’re doing when you put the teachers in charge?
This is really something you should be investigating yourselves! Send a link to this blog to your Board of Education members, to the Superintendent, to the School Principal, to the FBI offices in Albany, to your elected officials and ask WHY?
